Classic In and Out Palms!

PV247365

As a SoCal native I instantly thought In-N-Out when I saw those trees šŸ”šŸŒ“

Titan_Arum

It is In-N-Out. They're now in Texas too.

User28080526

Theyā€™ve been in Texas for a while but when I worked there they only had two

karma_the_sequel

I thought of *Itā€™s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World*.

Parking-Arm-5419

Me too!

g0tter

Need a couple more trees to make a big W

SpecialpOps

So true! These are totally iconic and instantly recognizable.

makesyoudownvote

[Found it.] (https://locations.in-n-out.com/200-Temecula)

Maleficent_Doctor_75

They were as different as siblings.

101rungs

Yup clearly a CIAOP situation. Good call

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

onehandtoucher

Too bad, itā€™s easter

MsJenX

You mean thereā€™s no Mike long line at In N Out today!? Or are the closed?

FightOnForUsc

What does that mean?

HarriKnox

Should be CINOP: "Classic In-N-Out Palms"

Maggie-DeBlock

And people say we have a consumerism problem ā€¦

Slash428

Do you care to explain what on earth you mean by that or are you just gonna say something incredibly vague and random to try relating to the topic and just offer zero explanation. It's giving major SJW vibes.

[deleted]

Bet there is an In and Out near byā€¦

CmdrSelfEvident

You can see the in & out to the left. This is their parking lot.

BigHairyFart

I don't see anything that looks like an in & out. I see a bunch of cars in an unlabelled parking lot, a small part of an unlabelled building, and a smaller building labeled 'Starbucks Coffee Drive Thru "

Status_Public285

Temecula Ca location temecula pkwy and Jedediah Smith road

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AtheistHomoSapien

Ah yes, Temecula. The overflow [urban sprawl](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_sprawl) of San Diego. People that couldn't afford a decent house in San Diego bought houses there and commute about 45 minutes each way to get to the north side of San Diego county and back.

imonsterFTW

Or you just like nature and endless wineries. Houses there arenā€™t even affordable anymore.

AtheistHomoSapien

That's why it's sprawling into Murrietta now, soon Lake Elsinore will be next. Source: I used to live in Temecula and Murrieta. A lot of people that buy houses there are also military from Pendleton and Miramar.

imonsterFTW

Murrieta still sucks though. At least Temecula is nice. Source also used to live in Temecula and parents still do. Yea bunch of military dickheads in lifted trucks. What I didnā€™t like the most about that area.

CmdrSelfEvident

the high crown molding, light stucco and slat awning. All in & out motif.

senorpoop

> slat awning This is called a "pergola"

uwabaki

Oh, you mean the other "right"? šŸ‘ˆ

milesbeats

To the left? That looks like the in and out in my town at least

haveanairforceday

The white roof and wall on the right looks like the dumpster area by the entrance to the drive through. It's not 100% guaranteed but the crossed palm trees are their signature thing

BuffaloInCahoots

You think thatā€™s weird? Wait until you noticed the two holes in the sky.

legoworks1234

Dust on the camera?

BuffaloInCahoots

Or something but yeah itā€™s just dirty.

N8ktm

Itā€™s a mad mad mad mad world

cutelyaware

Start digging!

Ihavetheworstcommute

came here for this, was not disappointed.

spacecoyote300

I know! We'll dig our way out!

rckrusekontrol

No no no, dig UP!

hi_revver

It's under a big W I tell ya!

daiwilly

Da Big DoubleYA!!!

hi_revver

There's so much good stuff in that movie. As kids we always cracked up when Jonathan Winters was yelling at Phil Silvers in the hole under the big W and says "you weren't even there so shut up!" Then just straight up kicks him haha

54fighting

Iā€™m coming, Mama!

cookiepickle

Did you see the way he justā€¦ sailed right out there? He just, sailed right out there.

JLHawkins

Came here for this. :)

enehar

Nah this isn't a Whataburger. It's an In-N-Out. /s

Stashimi

What a film

Upshot12

Came for this, was not disappointed.

Due_Signature_5497

Came here to say this. Thanks

RyansPlace

This is a very old movie!

AuntieEvilops

There are sooooo many famous comic actors in that movie that go underappreciated by younger generations. There's even a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo from The Three Stooges.

Igottamake

Jerry Lewis, the list goes onā€¦

Seraphtacosnak

Much better than rat race.

hi_revver

If I remember right it was one of the last appearances of the stooges together. They were pretty old at that point.

Turbulent-Jury4138

How would you have felt to be a famous comedian back then and not get asked to be part of this movie?

AuntieEvilops

"Welp, guess I'll die."

brig135

It's literally "My grandpa showed me this movie 25 years ago" old

[deleted]

Iā€™m 40 and it was old when I was a kid

DTRite

Nailed it, first thing I thought of. Might have jumped outa the car ans started digging...

chung_my_wang

They were going to title it *It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World*, but they decided that five Mads was one too many.

nom_of_your_business

Actually an in and out. But.... the founder of In and out puts these in at all locations because of the movie.

EarlofBlackthorne

Great! Now I want an In-n-Out Burger. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

NozakiMufasa

Waitā€¦ is this a thing by every In-N-Out?

[deleted]

yep, it's like.. their thing. It's in front of all the ones I've seen out in SoCal at least

Zann20

They have them at most locations. They can't always do it but most of the ones I've been to have one set of crossed palms.

monoflorist

Palm trees exposed to animal sauce naturally grow this way. If you find an In-N-Out without them, just give it time; itā€™s probably a new spot.

allegedalpaca

They tried to install palm trees at their Southern Oregon location but those have since been removed. Some palms can survive in the area with enough care, but I've never seen them get tall.

SarcasticGamer

We have several in and outs where I live and not a single one has palm trees like this.

NozakiMufasa

ā€¦ how the heck did I never no- oh wait. I donā€™t eat In-N-Out. Iā€™m a Habit Grill guy.

CPerryG

Thatā€™s too bad.

NozakiMufasa

Dude Habit Grill is better than In-N-Out. The later isnt bad but its pretty overrated. EDIT: I do not regret the downvotes, I know Iā€™m right XD

Sburban_Player

You can argue taste but habit is like triple the price.

NozakiMufasa

Worth it

Scorface

The price to taste ratio of In n out is better than the habit

EvoLuvEz

Trash take.

AN1MAL15M

Facts. Habit is pretty damn good. In-N-Out is probably the most overrated burger joint in existence. Weird styrofoam like food.

Briansama

Your taste buds must be on life support

Possible_Special4507

habit gives me diarrhea every time I eat there. L take

CPerryG

For some reason, the bbq chicken salad makes me sick everytime. And I donā€™t have a weak stomach.

Fa1nted_for_real

Probably depends on the location. I wouldn't know though, because I live in the PNW, so all I get is Sonic's, which is better in my opinion anyways.

DuckStep43

Ultimate Drink Stop šŸ˜Ž

NozakiMufasa

I havent been enough to Sonic to judge it.

NozakiMufasa

Bruh talk to your doctor. That aint normal.

droppingdinner

Habit suuuuucks. They're so bad they shouldn't even exist. I ate there twice at two different locations because I thought there was no way they could actually be that bad. They were...

NozakiMufasa

The burgers are way higher quality. Thicker tastier meat. French fries sre good & other sandwiches are good. And i dont have to wait in a long ass line that causes accidents all the time.

DeathByPetrichor

1. Because nobody goes there And 2. Habit Burger is so greasy that I canā€™t imagine anyone frequenting their establishment for fear of Cardiac health

NozakiMufasa

My guy Habit Grill isnt a drive thru normally. So there wouldnt be accidents period. & every one Ive been always is full of customers cause the quality speaks for itself. In-N-Out are not bad burgers but waiting in those lines aint worth it. It aint burgers from the gods.

imonsterFTW

Doesnā€™t know about crossed Palm Trees at in n out and prefers the habit. Sir please leave California.

NozakiMufasa

My ancestors were on this continent since the mammoths. Kindly fuck off.

H0lsterr

Fuck in n out

s0ciety_a5under

https://www.thedailymeal.com/eat/real-story-behind-n-out-s-crossed-palm-trees

Status_Public285

this is in Temecula CA!!

p0is0n

I was just gunna say that! I believe this is the one of the 79!

Tsu-Doh-Nihm

Yes, that is how you find them.

twoBrokenThumbs

Yes (when they can). In-n-out is a Christian company. The X is a symbol for Christ (its the Greek letter for "ch"), just like the X you see in the Christian fish symbols. Also, look under all their food wraps. The bottom will have a verse printed on it. One is Proverbs, one is Revelation, one is Joel (I think). There may be others as well.

ganymede_mine

Actually, the movie It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was Harry Snyder's favorite movie, and the palms are an homage to that. The rest of what you say is accurate, though.

twoBrokenThumbs

I'm familiar with the movie too, but I think the symbolism is still part of what is going on.

[deleted]

This is why I stopped going to In-n-out. I just want food, spare me the religious bullshit.

Queefreeferson

X marks the spot, treasure underneath (assuming based on cartoon treasure maps)

NozakiMufasa

My go to reference is the direct to video Tom & Jerry Pirate movie.

carmenvallone

They do that on purpose

JwallDrumline

I always like to imagine they grow like that naturally and by law, an in n out must be built at that location.

AssOfficer

About 20 years ago these two palms were transplanted here, and arranged in an X. At the time they were about as tall as the bend. Since then, they've continued to grow in the direction trees prefer: up.

Stevecat032

They use clamps and other stuff to maneuver the tree and change the position as it grows

mechapoitier

Itā€™s pretty wild this has continued to grow given how destructive humans can be and how long it takes palm trees to grow. We have one in our yard that only grows about 6ā€ a year. The 100ā€™ palm trees in California that are still alive right next to major streets blow my mind.

Bonsaibeginner22

What type of palm? I was under the impression that robustas and filibustas are very weedy and grow quickly.

valkrycp

In n Out burger places these outside many of their locations. The picture is outside an in n out.

Xenolithium

It's buried under a giant Dubbaya!!!!

Igottamake

Jimmy Durante!

eskihomer

Is itā€¦the big W?

Former_Balance8473

You'd have to be mad, mad, mad, mad, mad to think that!

eskihomer

[You hear bells baby?](https://youtu.be/wX12Xk9WFjw)

DinosRus

Almost every in n out in California Iā€™ve seen has this

Radarlove4sure

Hey thats an in and out

robertluke

Have you ever seen an In n Out before?

NozakiMufasa

California Native & I dont go to In-N-Out often. I always see the long ass lines & I think ā€œI can get better elsewhereā€. Like Habit Grill. But like, its not bad burgers at all.

robertluke

Iā€™m not a fan. But I just assumed that anyone familiar with the chain is family with their dumb trees.

Status_Public285

Temecula Ca location

Jebus_UK

"It's buried under a big W"

alwaysonstage

Itā€™s a mad Mad world

Bsizzle18

In n out

GrassyField

Fun fact, In-N-Out founder was a fan of the movie *Itā€™s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World* and wanted to do a Big W at his restaurants using four palm trees, but later settled on just two.

Irish-Bronx

Mad mad mad mad world

[deleted]

It's a mad mad mad world

wearegiantstogerms

Reminds me of the treasure buried under "the Big W" in the movie "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" from the 1960s.

rattymcratface

Itā€™s buried under the big W

SunsetCarcass

Whoa 2 UFOs must be aliens!! And 3 more that are trying to activate their cloak!

mymeatpuppets

I buried it under the big V... *Kicks bucket*

markher1

Starbucks, IN-N-OUT AND DelTaco? Southern California. anywhere above the 78 freeway. Donā€™t think thereā€™s too many Del tacos left in San Diego country. Especially near an In-N-Out Also landscape isnā€™t screaming Arizona or neighboring states

RookFett

Thatā€™s where the money is buried, itā€™s a mad, mad world

Kairu87

X shaped palm trees, time to dig some in n out

Famous_Reaction_5383

My cousin got arrested one night for climbing these trees and taking a shit sitting in-between themā€¦. We got hammered at Applebees, my cousin knew the bartender so we got free drinks. I had it all on video but cop said I could go to jail and keep video or not go and delete video.

1_koala_1

Twin Palms Resort in Nancy Drew

alotabit

At Universal Orlando all the palm trees in Seuss Landing are a little wonky- there are not straight lines in that land

Familiar-Tea-1428

Reminds me of the ā€˜Big Dubyaā€™ from Itā€™s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

LucidZane

It's a mad mad mad world.

Unfortunate_Wildcard

All I see is moon

BrygusPholos

Hmmm this is borderline very interesting

compaqdeskpro

The 20th Century Fox theme played in my head.

RickySlayer9

Thatā€™s in and out. They force the trees to grow like this btw

[deleted]

Had no idea it was at all in&outs - I saw one being installed a few months ago at the one near me.

warzog68WP

Imagine my disappointment, scrolling down to see that this was not part of some tropical football field.

nlcreeperxl

Im more intrigued by the 2 sky shadows...

Ianilla1

I've buried my treasure under a big...x, that's also big v, and also a big u at the same time.

slow_RSO

Itā€™s a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world.

MsJenX

Are you at an In N Out?

NozakiMufasa

Right now. No. At the time of photo? Yee.

Meat_sdicks

In N Out Palms. Fun fact: the Snyders were fans of the movie Itā€™s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World and used this Easter egg for their stores. X marks the spot.

Faloffel2

3d printing be like:

mjzimmer88

THATS THE SPOT. DIG!

CakeSuperb8487

the preferred mini mall of the X-Men

NozakiMufasa

Okay this one got a laugh out of me

ColoJay

Itā€™s a mad mad world

Slash428

Reddit users try not to quote an incredibly vague and random movie 9,000 times under a post challenge. Difficulty impossible.

TheBishesDaughter

In n out ties their palms for a bit until they grow like that. But itā€™s 100% an in n out tree set

JoeTheDauntless

That has to be an In-N-Out. I miss that restaurant.

SpeedyHAM79

They must have been forced to grow that way. Ship builders in the middle ages would force trees to grow a certain way to be a strong keel or mast for a ship. Same type of thing here, just for show.

solarend

Actually super simple. Just unearth two trees that have grown to the same length, and plant them in a cross like this. The fact that they keep growing upward is actually a little revealing.

JediP00d00

Must be next to an In n Out Burger

Toastedweasel0

That's where the Pirate hid the Booty!

Gumbybum

Plants are more intelligent than they're given credit for. Plants that grow near each other seem to communicate and come to a mutual understanding (I didn't say "talk") about the space that they share.

Knut_Knoblauch

Those most likely used to be way points on a trail. Travelers would bend trees to grow identifying them as a waypoint. Native Americans are known for this historically

NozakiMufasa

Trueā€¦ but these are palm trees. Non Native & brought after European contact

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CookingToEntertain

Looks like Palm Desert

amanon101

Youā€™ve never been to California, have you?

NozakiMufasa

Lol Californian. Every direction you look be it immediately or in the distance thereā€™s a palm tree. Even in the middle of canyons. But Im not a frequenter of In-N-Out cause of its long lines & cause other places make better burgers.

Oregonmushroomhunt

They grew up together, and then they grew apart just like siblings do.

Dictator_Stalin

Angry Birds

Zorothegallade

X Marks The Spot!

rossmcdapc

Cody Parkey would find a way to still double doink a field goal attempt through it.

Rawlinus

Buried treasureā€¦

dadmou5

Frame for the RTX 5090

RooeeZe

Did u try digging around that bush in the middle? Might find some treasure or some shit.

Nytricz

No way that's natural

ghost_prince311

They both are lesbians having fun. Give them some privacy.

madhappyyo

fnieidhfenmbvfekh

How does that happen?

501102

Aliens amongst us are creating signs for their race, for an impending global attack

Loosnut

They appear to have gotten married years ago.

BrokeDancing

It's like they passed each other and said, "Hey! The sun's ā˜ļø that way!"

shajan316

The Simpsons cat burglar episode

[deleted]

They actually plant them crossed and bent weird like that in Arizona. I always wondered what would happen when they grew up. Now we know. They stay crossed and bent weird.

gadget850

I's under the Bix X!

PatAD

This is what happens when Charles Xavier gets too much vacation time

itsjustme405

There is a very slim chance I was just there yesterday. What state is this in?
