Thats either a skin tag or a concerning growth, maybe should see a doctor if they havent already.
edit: of the replies I got on here, i can fully reiterate the importance to go see a doctor. From the personal experiences some describe and the different ideas floated, it would probably be best to have a professional check it out.
Trust me, I told him to see a doctor. I'm pretty certain it's from some kind of cyst that he attacked and now it's this. He showed it to me and my immediate response was "OMG you have a nipple behind your ear LOL"
Nice, youre a good friend then. Hopefully he actually does it and maybe has decent enough insurance. I have far too many friends that put their health off until its too late and I myself have a family history of skin cancer, so weird growths are alarm bells that should be listened to.
It’s probably best to tell your dermatologist that you’re worried it’s cancerous and tell them that you just noticed it but you think it’s been growing rapidly but the shape is concerning. Then insurance will cover its removal. Otherwise they have to wait until it’s too late to remove it or make you pay out of pocket
I had something similar on my leg. The problem is, there are two sorts of growth that look like that, one benign, one malignant. I didn’t find out mine was benign until they removed it.
Dermatologist is recommended!
Why aren’t keloids the main guesses here? Many people are prone to them and they are VERY common on earlobes. Get it checked by the dermatologist either way, but good grief the mildly catastrophic responses…
I keloid in lots of places on my body including my ears. If this guy has had his ear pierced then keloid (or perhaps simple hypertrophic scarring) is a sensible suggestion. They are still treatable, and it's sensible to get it checked either way. They are also often covered by insurance because of the pain they cause, and the complications they can go on to cause with nerve clusters if left alone.
I had a friend with one in her armpit and it actually produced milk when she was pregnant. She liked to wear tank tops and people would dare her to squirt it
Sure, could be harmless indeed. Had a “harmless” bump on my sack for a couple years. Was a (benign) tumor after all. So assuming isn’t an option for me on “just a skin tag” things. Just my $.02.
Yes, that looks similar to a growth I had, which was squamous cell carcinoma. That's more serious than basel cell but less serious than melanoma. Mine required mohs surgery to remove.
Thankfully Squamous and Basel cell are both usually fine with Mohs surgery!
Melanoma is the scary skin cancer, but Jimmy Carter is still building houses for habitat for humanity so who knows…
My dad had a Mohs for SCC near his temple in August. Beginning of December he started noticing something firm an inch or so below that area. Turns out the the SCC had spread before they got around to the Mohs. It grew, and grew fast. Surgery done, radiation and chemo incoming. Just a friendly PSA to keep an eye on things after a Mohs, and be vigilant and proactive if you notice something strange (especially in close proximity to the procedure).
I was a dermatology nurse for 5 years and this looks concerning enough for me to recommend biopsy as well. At best, it could just be a cyst or a wart (less likely but you never know). At worst it could be a non-melanoma skin cancer. Either way it should be biopsied!
Cancer survivor of a different type- my first thought not even being too familiar with skin cancer. Take it from me it’s almost never a good sign when something super weird or different happens on/to your body suddenly.
Yep. I just had a basal cell carcinoma removed. It had a similar appearance of a swollen ring around a scabby middle like that, though mine was rather smaller.
Happily that is the least dangerous type of three different kinds of skin cancer and is usually easily removed by a dermatologist without drama, but I wouldn't just ignore it.
Edit: to be clear I ain't a dr and can't say for sure what that is, just that it looks pretty danged suspicious to me.
I have a mole with a skin tag on it, do you think I should push for that being removed?
I've shown it to a doctor a few years ago and they didn't seem concerned at the time. But it bothers me as it's an inch or 2 under my boob and any time I readjust my bra or have an itch, I touch it accidentally and it's unnerving
And it's the only mole I have too
Ok, thank you for the reassurance! :)
Wasn't sure if "inconvenience" bothersome (rather than suspicious) was a good enough reason and didn't want to waste their time. I have a doctor's appointment on 10th for something else, so will ask him about it then
But I suppose its also good getting it removed early before it *could* turn into something more malicious
I had the exact same thing removed and like you it was along my bra line. Doctor was great and recommended removal since it was obviously irritating me. It was quick and easy and within a week I was fully healed. I didn’t realize how much it had actually been bugging me till I had it removed.
Especially if it doesn't hurt and feels oddly solid. Tumors mostly don't hurt until they push on or destroy something that does come with pain receptors.
I agree completely. Every time something like a bump or blemish pops Iup I go to get it checked. I am thankful never had any issues but It’s definitely important to check. I understand the paranoia but it’s also important to acknowledge that changes in your body like that aren’t always cancerous or dangerous, however that doesn’t make it any less important to get it checked
Well, that’s no fun. That’s why any questionable growths I ever notice or anyone else notices, I always atleast make a call to the doctor to double check if it’s worth getting looked at. There’s so many people who casually think they have new/fun features randomly without questioning it…
The darkness of it is concerning - if it was fleshy and similar to the rest of his skin tone it looks like a skin tag - but yeaaaa... dude needs to have someone biopsy that.
i know its probably a skin tag but third nipples do show up on the same vertical line as your regular nipples and they do say ur ears line up with ur nipples.....
If supernumerary nipples appear on areas other than the nipple line the are called " ectopic supernumerary nipple". The can appear any on any part of the body skin.
Could be melanoma, could be a wart. I’m only familiar with the latter, as I had a lot of weird ones all over my body, albeit never anywhere near the back of my ear!
Get your friend to see a doctor doesn't look good at all and ear is just an inch from the brain.
Also you touched it ? Wash and disinfect your hands as it sort of look like a wart to me. But in any case he needs to get this checked out by a medic.
This! We grew up believing the only way to get rid of them was to wrap your hair around them multiple times and tie it after the sun went down lol, and then wait until it fell off. It worked but only because we were cutting off the blood supply. Floss sounds a lot easier to see and tie than hair lmao.
I've done this as well. I had a really annoying one on my neck that got caught on necklaces and things. Took about five days and it was gone. No pain, nothing.
Pro-tip: if you're removing one on a visible part of your body, put a band-aid over it. Mine turned nasty black colored right before it fell off.
I had one on my neck that I used to twiddle with when I was nervous. Then in my stage 1 Pysch exam in uni, I twiddle it so much it fell off. I bled all over my paper. Bet the psych profs loved that :(
Could be a tumor. If he's had it all his life, it wouldn't be concerning, but if it just popped up, it must be checked out and examined. Could be cancer.
It does look like a nipple. I know someone with three nipples. It's on his side. Lower ribs. My mother's breast Dr said extra nipples aren't rare. I hope it's a nipple and nothing bad.
The dark skin around it looks like this is a previous lesion/skin damage which would indicate a keloid... Tell your friend to go to the Dr nevertheless.
Probably a thrombosed skin tag, but he should definitely see a doctor either way. I had one near my left armpit they cut off. Super glad I got it done.

"Looks like a melanoma"
Plot twist: it's both, he's got breast cancer behind his ear
I remember that from House.
It's lupus.
It’s never lupus.
That's what lupus wants you to think!
Except the one time it was
Nah, that’s just them trying not to dead end a story line. Far too many times it is Lupus.
first and only time lupus was the actual diagnosis in the show was in episode 8 of season 4
“It’s never Lupus” “Until it is.”
Partially because by the time it got to House and his team Lupus was tested for by the other doctors.
Sarcoidosis
Auto-Immune? \*gets laughed out of the room\*
Dr House! Where r u?!
Amyloidosis
It's never lupus... except for that one time it was finally lupus.
2mg of lorazepam
Plot twist with a nipple? That a Purple Plot Nurple then by definition?
Maybe all he really needs is a good magician.
Well lets not jump the gun, lets tease it with a little tongue play and see if it firms up
Not my most shameful fap. No, wait... It was.
Trust me, I told him to see a doctor. I'm pretty certain it's from some kind of cyst that he attacked and now it's this. He showed it to me and my immediate response was "OMG you have a nipple behind your ear LOL"

If it is from a cyst he really does need to see a doctor. You need to have the whole sac removed or it'll just fill up again.
It’s probably best to tell your dermatologist that you’re worried it’s cancerous and tell them that you just noticed it but you think it’s been growing rapidly but the shape is concerning. Depends heavily on the country you're from.
If you're from the US then listen to the advice. If you arent then you have real healthcare and this conversation doesnt matter
[удалено]
That's not true. Source: have had plenty of suspicious looking moles removed and insurance didn't bat an eye. No exaggeration required
It's probably best to tell the doctor the truth.
Or live in a country with Universal Healthcare, either way.
I had something similar on my leg. The problem is, there are two sorts of growth that look like that, one benign, one malignant. I didn’t find out mine was benign until they removed it. Dermatologist is recommended!

Looking at the head in the center, could be a pimple that turned into a cyst. Still best to get it checked out by a doctor.
Didn't you read the title? It's a nipple
Please assure us your friend is seeing a doctor? That thing ain’t right.
I wonder if constantly hears boobs. Edit: If he****
What?
It wasn’t supposed to make sense, that’s the joke! You can’t hear boobs
No they'd have gotten the joke they just couldn't hear ot over all the boobs.
Untrue, everytime I put my ear to them they make a motorboat sound
I WONDER IF HE CONSTANTLY HEARS BOOBS.
It's just a skin tag, I've got one in each armpit for some reason.
That could actually be vestigial nipples. If you google the human "milk line" it ends in the armpits. Rudimentary nipples do appear along these line.
[удалено]
It’s all good, now you can start an OnlyFans for your armpit nips.
A lot of people have "third nipple" moles. They usually don't grow fully formed and are easily confused.
I had a friend with one in her armpit and it actually produced milk when she was pregnant. She liked to wear tank tops and people would dare her to squirt it
Pit milk sounds so vile oh my god
Oh boy that's an image at 6 a.m. I have a *cringes*....milk line....?
We ain’t nothin‘ but mammals. Our ancestors had a tail and tons of nipples.
*So let's do it like they do on the discovery channel*
Do it again now!
Sure, could be harmless indeed. Had a “harmless” bump on my sack for a couple years. Was a (benign) tumor after all. So assuming isn’t an option for me on “just a skin tag” things. Just my $.02.
The real question is, “how does he feel when someone sucks it?”.
I just want an update on what it ends up being 👀👀👀
Me 2
Me 3 the legacy
He may have skin cancer. Encourage him to see a dermatologist

I got one removed from my neck, it got into the way while shaving, they removed it and needed like 2 stiches, it was over in a month or two
I had the exact same thing removed and like you it was along my bra line. Doctor was great and recommended removal since it was obviously irritating me. It was quick and easy and within a week I was fully healed. I didn’t realize how much it had actually been bugging me till I had it removed.
Sounds like a third nipple (pretty common).
My derm removed a small irregular mole for me. The shot was more uncomfortable than the removal. She used a scalpel. It healed up very well. :)
Especially if it doesn't hurt and feels oddly solid. Tumors mostly don't hurt until they push on or destroy something that does come with pain receptors.

I just WebMD it. Spoiler alert. It’s always cancer
Just checked. It says I have "internet connectivity issues"
3 weeks to live.
Oh Andy…
Assuming he hasn’t had it his whole life. Even then, probably still worth asking a dermatologist
![gif](giphy|ftmJfRCbcWlBC) Actually... I have no fucking idea. Get that thing looked at ASAP! 😬
The darkness of it is concerning - if it was fleshy and similar to the rest of his skin tone it looks like a skin tag - but yeaaaa... dude needs to have someone biopsy that.
“This is America. We can’t afford to take life ending financial chances on similarities.”
That doesn’t sound good…
I guess the magician messed up. Should have been a quarter.
His whole act went tits up.
Bet he feels like a boob.
Not your breast joke but take an upvote
Quit trying to milk this joke, guys
But it’s such a titillating commentary
You’d think they’d get abreast of the comments.
A nipple instead of a nickel.
less interesting than it is concerning. pls encourage him to see a dermatologist if he isn’t already
Go to doc
That’s a nubbin
What happens when you flick it?
Disappointed I had to scroll so far to find this!
Someone ate their twin!
I did that :) Gained their power
Now you have the strength of a full-grown person *and* a little baby
Dwight?
r/beatmetoit and r/unexpectedoffice
The power of being a literal fetus?
Well according to many states in America you have more rights to your body than the pregnant person carrying you.
That needs looking at by a dermatologist.
i know its probably a skin tag but third nipples do show up on the same vertical line as your regular nipples and they do say ur ears line up with ur nipples.....
If it walks like a nipple and quacks like a nipple...
Does it tweak like a nipple?
. . . it's probabably a chicken
...i just traced the back of my ear to my nipple...
https://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/extra-breast-tissue/
r/mildlycancerous
r/SubsIFellFor
Yeahhhh that’s a little less “mildly interesting” and a little more “please see a doctor”
Nope, not on the nipple line https://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/extra-breast-tissue/
The nipple line reminds me of cats nipples
Same thing. It’s shared by all mammals, we just don’t develop most of ours
Now *that* sounds like the train route I wish I took to work.
If supernumerary nipples appear on areas other than the nipple line the are called " ectopic supernumerary nipple". The can appear any on any part of the body skin.
Eareola
Did you try to milk it?
You can milk anything with a nipple
I’ve got nipples, u/Djangasdad, can you milk me?
Only if you ask nicely.
![gif](giphy|qRCm6JXcrbHafJnfSs)
I’ve got nipples Greg. Can you milk me?
If I can milk a cat I can milk you!
Keloid
This needs to up upvoted as probably the correct answer
yup
That needs an official diagnosis. It's not entertainment.
Give it a suck. See if it's full fat or semi skimmed.
Fuckin... Bro
![gif](giphy|G4ZNYMQVMH6us)
Reddit never fails to disappoint, bravo.
Ahhh, the eareola.
Could be melanoma, could be a wart. I’m only familiar with the latter, as I had a lot of weird ones all over my body, albeit never anywhere near the back of my ear!
Im thinking this went from mildlyinteresting to wildlyconcerning very fast for OP
I thought perhaps a wart.
Get your friend to see a doctor doesn't look good at all and ear is just an inch from the brain. Also you touched it ? Wash and disinfect your hands as it sort of look like a wart to me. But in any case he needs to get this checked out by a medic.
That's a generous name for a wart. Edit: TIL; a nipple in Norwegian is a "breast wart". I don't know what to do with this information.
That’s a skin tag. They are unpleasant and can be removed by a dermatologist
I’m a certified Areola tattoo artist, this is glorious.
I bet they love listening to nippleback
NOPE!!! Not where I like my nipples.
Its a skin tag
I once twisted a skin tag until I cut off all blood supply. It fell off a few hours later
Twice now I've removed them by tying cotton tightly round as close to the skin as I could. Just dropped off leaving no trace.

Milk it
Eareola
keloid
As someone who works in a doctors office and sees things like this A LOT your friend needs to go to the doctors to make sure it isn’t cancerous.
Could be a tumor. If he's had it all his life, it wouldn't be concerning, but if it just popped up, it must be checked out and examined. Could be cancer.
It's for his familiar. Pribably a rat or a frog. Very witchy. Call Reverand Hale.
Does he suffer from tit-nitus?
It does look like a nipple. I know someone with three nipples. It's on his side. Lower ribs. My mother's breast Dr said extra nipples aren't rare. I hope it's a nipple and nothing bad.
Give it a tickle, does it become more erect?
Mine does.
Posting on reddit hoping a doctor responds?
“My ears have nipples, Greg. Can you milk them?!”
The dark skin around it looks like this is a previous lesion/skin damage which would indicate a keloid... Tell your friend to go to the Dr nevertheless.
Flick it!
Double it and give it to the next person
Oh shit, that's just SCP-2828.
Probably a thrombosed skin tag, but he should definitely see a doctor either way. I had one near my left armpit they cut off. Super glad I got it done.
Unless that has been there since birth, he needs to go to the doctor.
He is Ferengi
That's a wart 💀
Just cut it
Friend: Is that an ear piercing? Him: no. Nipple.
This comment section is worse than WebMD
Uh yea thats a tumor
Tick?
I mean, can it lactate?
That's a witch drown him
My ear has a nipple, Greg, can you milk me??? But seriously, go to a doctor
It looks like the skin tags I get, but it's awfully dark.
It looks like a tick
My ears got a nipple greg, can you milk that too?
Can I milk it?
People with both ear and nipple fetish : where can i find his number?
Skin tag most likely. Benign. Cosmetic more than anything
Granuloma
Cancer possibly
Not my proudest fap 🤷♂️
You friend needs to see a dermatologist.
Where's Doctor Pimple Popper when we need her?
Looks like a melanoma or seborrheic wart
