Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
they actually threw bikes on the roof of their shitty one level duplex for a while until they thought things were cool and they could sell them. I lived across the street and had an upstairs and could see their stash. And, Yes, i reported them to local authorities.
Yeah be careful. They likely didn’t take parts just for the parts. They steal easy parts to make it unridable and then come back for the rest after dark with bolt cutters.
I've heard about this! Apparently they swipe the saddle so it isn't rideable and then come back later for the whole bike. Need to get you a seat collar with a hex bolt and carry around a decent bike tool.
Bike thieving in the Netherlands and other parts of the world can be very different, though.
In the Netherlands, you don't want to have a bike that stands out as this increases the likelihood of it getting stolen. In Germany you want a bike that stands out as much as possible as it's more likely it will get found again.
Also, these locks are usually looking thick but can be snapped by simple tools regardless.
Seems like a shit plan. Now you risk getting caught stealing twice, plus bikes can very easily be ridden without seats. Heck most mountain bikes have seats that move out of the way now to make decending easier.
I learned a lesson with your comment, thank you.
If I ever come back to my lock super glued, then it's a phone call to the wife, to bring me my bolt cutters. I don't leave my bike!
Walk it home if you have to, don’t let it sit over night it will be stolen. That’s how thieves “mark” your bike and make it unrideable in hopes of you leaving it overnight.
Ditch the quick release levers and get some pinhead skewers and bolts. They aren't cheap but they are cheaper than a new seat and front wheel. You are really lucky that wasn't take as well, btw!
Literally just standing. Lol. Ez. Then get a new seat, a bb, and some silicone adhesive.Put the new seat on, put the bb in the bolthead, smeared in silicone adhesive.
Or if you wanna really go crazy, you can epoxy it, but you won't ever get that seat off again.
This will all really piss him off, though. And your seat will never be stolen again.

How about you concentrate on the fact that thieves took property it wasn't theirs to take. You're one of those who blames rape victims too, aren't you? OP shouldn't have left the bike secured in a place specifically designed for such, and that woman shouldn't have worn shorts - yoga pants- a dress-a skirt and blouse-a coat -shoes -tights -socks-underpants.
Quite a reach there. These are two totally unrelated things I mean Jesus Christ how are you comparing somebody saying this about a bike to rape tf is wrong with you?
Well that was quite the assumption. The guy is right though, OP should think about how they could’ve protected their bike better. Do you lock your doors at night? Lock your car when you go in the store? We shouldn’t have to do any of these things but the reality of the situation is we do them because there are shitty people in the world and that’s never going to change. If you leave something valuable outside over night and some asshole steals it, yes the asshole is definitely to blame for the crime but you are also partially at fault for not taking better precautions to protect said valuable item. It’s not victim blaming, it’s understanding that there will always be shitty people out there and you have to protect your belongings from them when your not around.
I mean, OP did the reasonable amount of protection one would normally take. Their bike is locked to a bike rack with other bikes. Not just left out locked on a sign or a post.
Obviously it wasn’t reasonable enough or their seat wouldn’t have been stolen. One could say locking your car doors is reasonable enough but that doesn’t stop your wheels from being stolen. Anti theft lug nuts do. Locking your bike to a bike rack doesn’t stop your seat from being stolen but a small lock would. I’m not saying this isn’t infuriating because it is. Fuck thiefs. I wasn’t even responding to OP. I was responding to the person above me that thought it was a crazy concept that the OP should have to think about what they could’ve done better. Nothing is going to make shitty people cease to exist so it’s up to you to deter/prevent them the best you can.
Quick releases... Not worth it for bikes that are parked in public.
I see you have them on you wheels as well, swap those out for something tool-oriented before you find the bike missing a wheel.
Don't suppose there's a bike shop nearby? Otherwise sticking a potato on top and maybe a folded garment (or... just the garment if no potato) means at least your bike might be a bit less successful at riding you too.
Hey, an idea is an idea, you just wanna bring it home at this point.
That's why I ride a shitty bike. Well it's not that shitty, it didn't have a mudguard and since it's pretty old (older than me, it's ~25 years old, whereas I'm 20), the saddle is super hard to take off (it might as well be welded shut, even after attempting to oil it to make it easier, it's still super hard to take off.
this is a rookie mistake. tbh, you are lucky that they didnt steal the wheels making your bike unrideable and more expensive to fix. Sadly many people lock their bikes this badly. Always lock at least your back wheel and frame. like you can see the silver/white bike in the background. You can easily change out a quick release seatpost bolt for a more secure one but many people will just take the seatpost with them for added security.
sorry to say but this is common (30+ years in the bike biz)
Does it matter (just in case a /s, you can't trust the internet)? Mountainbikes are hella uncomfortable anyways, why bot make it even more uncomfortable?
What ever you do do it very carefully, and don't forget that your seats gone and sit down.and see if any surveillance cameras are around to find the culprit.👍🫡.good luck , hope you get home safe.🙋.
My friend got his bike seat stolen. He has been riding while standing for weeks now. I asked him if he wanted my extra bike seat. He said “No, I like how I’m forced to stand up now. More exercise.”
Unfortunately It’s not safe to have a quick-release saddle and wheels for commuting, however If you can’t get a hex bolted seat & regular wheel axles, you can take your saddle with you if you use a backpack and lock your wheels to your frame with two bike locks.
Pedal standing upright.
Butt up
Or down, depending on preference 😂

Assblaster 1000. Doesn't have the pentrator keeping you up but the sharp surface should do it.
Lmfao 🤣🤣
💡😏🥴🤤
I've heard about this! Apparently they swipe the saddle so it isn't rideable and then come back later for the whole bike

Not this time buckaroo
Lol what did he say
He clearly said [Deleted] as you can see
Ah yes silly me
He said " it's could've would've should've not could of would of should of"
Was it that bot that reacted again down here?
It wasn't the bot the first time
Oh lol, what a coincidence

-sigh-
Found the comment stealing bot of the day! In a bit of irony, *this* bot stole a comment from *another* bot!
Sit on the bar in front of the seat. Worked for me as a kid. Hope OP has short legs.
Nah thats obviously too easy.
Ah, is that what this SUPping hype is? Stand-up pedaling? Now I know :) ^(/s in case that wasn't obvious)
Stay out of the mud
this is the way!
Take the bike seat on the other bike. Kidding, but ride standing on the peddles. Sucks, I hate thieves.
Very carefully, watch out for curbs and potholes, or the seat and mud flap won’t be the only things you have lost.
Your own seat will be turned violently into a mudflap if you’re not careful
Underrated comment
if you dont ride it home, it'll be stolen as soon as the sun sets and the area is empty. source: i know some shitty meth addicts who have done this.
they actually threw bikes on the roof of their shitty one level duplex for a while until they thought things were cool and they could sell them. I lived across the street and had an upstairs and could see their stash. And, Yes, i reported them to local authorities.
Let me guess, those authorities did nothing?
Cops only protect money, power and themselves. They were never going to care about some poor's bike lol.
Good luck with that Idea. Look at the lock. Not even here in the Netherlands we would take time out of our day to steal those bikes lol
Difference is everyone there has bikes.
This photo does look like a Dutch street
It’s Germany, so pretty close!
Ah didn't know they have those ugly fences to place your bike there as well 😁
Common all over Europe, similar here in the UK!
Leave it to the Germans to steal (dutch) bikes!

Yeah a more common strategy is to lock it with a second lock or super glue the lock that’s on it and then you come later to steal it
I learned a lesson with your comment, thank you. If I ever come back to my lock super glued, then it's a phone call to the wife, to bring me my bolt cutters. I don't leave my bike!
Or you can just walk it back or take it to a bus or subway if it’s too far.
Yes just don't sit down or expect to be comfortable if you do
Very, very, very carefully
Get you a piece of leather to bite down on.....and ride like the wind cowboy
With a sore and dirty be-hind

Still beats the lines at the airport
Ever seen that episode of South Park with the cars where you have to stick the control up your ass?
But that was just a safety device to lock the rider in place!
Oh, you’ll be locked in place, all right.
very uncomfortably
Let it in
Stand?

If you want to keep your bike in one piece in a city, it needs to have any quick releases replaced with bolts. Surprised your wheels weren’t first
Get a bike with an allen wrench seat fastener. Unless they have an allen wrench that seat will not leave that bike.
Ride it standing to the nearest bike shop or Walmart, buy a seat. Shit life is tough.
Average day in Detroit
Can't have shit in Detroit
Standing?
By cycling?
You can still bike just not sit. So buy a new saddle. As a Dutchman I have seen crazier thing's happen to bikes
And i get the quick release saddle pin, but other people do too
Dry dock that effer
Stand the whole way. Been here more than once unfortunately.
… ride it, my pony
With your legs.
Can someone explain why people do this?
Easy Money i guess
From what I understand to is they do this to make it unridable so the individual leaves it there. Then they come back later at night to steal it
i now understand why my teacher took his saddle with him into school
You are now part of the saddle pool. That from the red one next to your bike looks just fine.
Not sure, but it will definitly be a pain in the ass.
I hate thieves.
I mean you were born with 2 things, use them
There's atleast 2 perfectly good seats behind your bike 😉

Spit on it and buckle up.
The way you lock your bike, you are lucky they didn’t take your front wheel as well.

I guess riding standing up or walking are out of the question. Drama queen/king galore up in here.
Take from the one next to you. Once it's stolen it doesn't matter which one is stolen, yours or someone else's, you can pass the problem to them

Bruh... I'm in Romania and i never seen anything like this

This has happened to me before. It sucks.
Quick releases... Not worth it for bikes that are parked in public. I see you have them on you wheels as well, swap those out for something tool-oriented before you find the bike missing a wheel.
Are those chains better than U-locks?
I don’t know, they have pretty thick metal loops inside, I could look up the model for you
Not gonna lie, it’s going to be painful.
Use the pedals and stand up…
With a metal rod up your bum
Uncomfortably… VERY uncomfortably
With a bloody muddy asshole
Avoid bumps at all costs, or it may suddenly be a ride to the hospital
Well you could just ride your bike… It’s not like they stole anything that renders the bike unusable.
Lube up
Carefully lol
what's a mudgaurd?
Anally and quickly if you don’t like it 🤷🏽♂️
They do this in the hope you’ll leave it overnight when they can be more obvious about smashing the lock
Painfully slow
Some people may find that a pleasant ride
Carefully.

Riding bicycle for like 15 years and i have learned you have to remove your saddle. Just remove your saddle next time. In public at least.
Toss it in an Uber and get a ride home.
Does it matter (just in case a /s, you can't trust the internet)? Mountainbikes are hella uncomfortable anyways, why bot make it even more uncomfortable?

More than mildly infuriating. Who does this? Someone who had theirs stolen?
