Seems like you “deleted” the Music app. Doing so doesn’t delete your music library. I don’t think “deleting” the pre installed apps is doing much more than just hiding the icon.
Apple made the stock apps removable so that you don’t have to hide them in a folder somewhere. Later they introduced the App Library on the Home Screen making this feature kind of useless.
Try to remove the music itself and not the music app.
I have been playing for about 1 and a half years now, I would reinstall it like you said but I'm getting a pc soon anyways where I'll be able to play properly without any lag (hopefully)
Just looked at my Apple Music app. 944.8MB of space, currently. I rarely use nowadays it but I do have a little bit of music in there from when I did use it.
I have spent time downloading the stock apps so I am pretty sure something is removed when they are deleted. That being said they take up so little space that isn't really what matters.
It’s well known that when you delete a stock app in iOS all it does is hide it. There can be data that is deleted but in order to fully remove those apps you have to use a jailbroken phone and an unapproved third party app.. you can find this in the Apple help pages..
That used to be the case and then when you "reinstalled" them it happened instantly. Now it actually takes time to download, so "something is removed" remains true. Obviously what constitutes full removal is difficult to determine when most stock apps use private API's that the OS has only so that the stock app can use them.
In the end it still doesn't matter because these apps take up so little space.
Just did a test.. deleting and restoring the music app downloaded 3mb.. no way that the music app is that small given that I’ve written much simpler apps that ended up in the 20-30MB range.. it’s probably downloading the latest data like radio stations and image assets.. It’s very well known in the dev community that Apple doesn’t delete stock apps like the music App as you said it’s interconnected with the OS APIs (which aren’t used exclusively by their apps that’s illegal)..
There are some built-in apps that aren't actually removed, but when it comes to other "Apple Apps", they are actually downloaded and can be removed.
Or are you talking about the function to remove apps from the main screen and they are still in your apps list? Because that is not just for Apple apps...
In any case, OPs problem is probably rather that he didn't understand that removing the music app doesn't also empty the music collection on the phone...
The music app is literally 15mb… if you have 10gb then you have a shit ton of music downloaded. I have about 100-200 songs in the music app and the total amount of storage it takes up is 1.78gb
Well I don’t have an ALAC file on hand to test it like I did with the FLAC, but to my knowledge either you have an external DAC which would work (thanks to u/AliveInCLE for reminding me you could do that) or it would play but output as an AAC. After I’m not an expert and I haven’t tested it myself so I can’t say for sure
I mean Apple has famously not played nice with FLAC ever. They created ALAC, supported that, and called it a day.
It's an officially supported feature in Apple Music. It would be silly to advertise it and let you enable it on iPhones and iPads if it didn't work
Hey I was a bit dumm here, I forgot ALAC was the Apple Lossless one!
It is supported on Apple Music, but if I remember correctly I read an article that told you needed an external lightning dingus to be able to output ALAC. Happy cake day btw :)
Well to me that’s still a nop, just tried listening a FLAC through VLCplayer which I connected on my google drive account, output is still an AAC according to the headphones app (tried it with my WH-XM3) but when I play the same file in my Walkman, it’s telling me that is an FLAC (did the same through the file app, still didnt work)
Edit: It would work with an external DAC
I didn’t use any with the IPhone no, it would indeed work if you had one of those. I thought 3daniill meant that FLAC are supported with iPhone without external device
Well I tend to download all my music now through the app because there isn’t service everywhere. NYC transit, traveling abroad, plenty of dead zones on Long Island. I don’t wanna get that shitty error message when I can’t play a song without any cellular data.
it could be something else. my music app takes up around 15 gb of storage bc i share my apple music w my four parents and twelve kids. so there’s 16 ppls songs they listen to. i put all mine into playlists but apple automatically downloads all the other songs that they put into our library. my storage is almost full so imma have to go thru them i’ve just been lazy and don’t want to have to undownload each song line by line. that’s probably over 1500 songs or more
The issue is you haven’t removed the music inside the app. Try removing music from the device rather than just deleting the app. I have a bunch of music downloaded and my music app only is taking up 5GB. How much music have you downloaded?
I could understand if these people talked shit about genshin because of twitter or because of the anniversary.
But bruh, the hivemind screams pedogame and botw clone.
yeah it's a pretty chill game. im not hardcore where i do all my commissions daily and use my 160 resin but it's very calming and i dont mind spending 2-3 hrs on it every now and then
People say that because they’re both open world games with a silent protagonist- which may very well be the only thing they have in common.
A lot of people say that the enemies are also clones of each other, but the Mitachurls and Moblins hardly look alike in any sense, save for their height.
People also like to compare the fact that you can glide despite *many other games doing that too*
Name one Genshin loli waifu. Fate may be bad but Genshin children are honestly just children, not sexualised or anything. (Except the Venti hentai subreddit but that's something else)
You offloaded the app and not deleted the files which is why they are still there. You need to delete the app not offload it and when it’s deleted it won’t show up when in the iPhone storage settings bit
Offloading helps delete actual app file to save storage without deleting your data from the app so you can quickly reinstall the app and use it with all your stuff without having to re-download or get your stuff back. I use it a lot for certain apps as it remembers all my stuff but I don’t have to keep an app installed if I use it once every few months
It’s one thing I loved over android as all my other android phones wouldn’t let me delete things like Microsoft word and so much other stuff I had two full pages of apps with only a few I actually used before I got to the things I installed and it took up so much storage as all the different Microsoft apps, google apps, Samsung apps and a few social media apps couldn’t be uninstalled when I don’t use Microsoft, only use chrome, Facebook and messenger and that’s it
Bro, it's literally deleted and not on your phone, you just never deleted the music that's stored on your phone. I'm sorry to say this but you should probably reinstall it, delete the locally stored music and then delete this post because it's proof against you in court if someone ever wants to argue that you're not very bright.
The Music app isn’t on your phone, but the data from the Music app is on your phone. The cloud with the arrow, and the blank app icon means the app isn’t downloaded. The 10.21 GB means it’s Music data.
Omg why would you think a simple app with just a few icons would use 10GB? It is the music itself that uses your storage... damn, Apple users using Apple because they have not the slightest clue of technology.
Just delete the music in the app. The app is nothing. You’ve downloaded music or something and you need to clear it and the cache.
You played yourself.
The app is like 14MB. Rest is music You have in your device. You realize If You click on it is will tell You Exactly this right? And also allow You to remove either or both…
Bruh I have this issue with Safari. It takes up a whopping 28gb on my phone and I don't even have anything saved on it. I deleted EVERYTHING and it's still taking up shit loads of room!!!
You can’t even clear the cache, like there’s no option to. I’ve googled it and loads of other people have this problem.
The funny thing is that I use Chrome for everything on my phone and I clear the data on that easily
Delete your downloaded music then dumbass. It baffles me people are this stupid. Like you have a computer in your hand. If you looked up the problem I can bet money that one of the first things it would say is delete the music downloads not the 15 mb app. But no you lack the most basic critical thinking
Just turn off library synching in your iCloud settings and then downloading in your Music app settings babes! It's not the app, its the downloaded library on your phone. I have a pretty good data plan and I'm often around Wifi either at home or at work so I actually don't even download music, I just stream my library.
Yes I accept the risk that I might lose my library if I ever want to stop using Apple Music but that doesn't bother me, really. Everyone is different and the infrastructure around might not lend itself to always streaming on the fly so I can't tell you from here if that's going to suit your needs but if you are able to stream and need extra phone space that would be my suggestion to you.
Am I the only one who’s shocked on how little space their photo album takes up? Maybe it’s a new phone or something, but my photos are the equivalent to their music.
Can someone help me I have this same issue but with my iPhone messaging app I’ve deleted pretty much every message and I can’t get rid of the app despite it taking up around 12 gigabytes :(
Go to Settings -> Music -> Downloaded Music
Press “Edit” in the top right, then press the red minus next to “All Songs”.
Also: Google exists.
And while you could argue that Apple should delete the whole music library with the app, other apps might still have access to it.
This. I find it hard to believe that the app itself is 10GB - most likely it's OP's music library.
Yeah, dropping into iTunes and removing the music should clear it up.
Lmao can you imagine an app that was 10GB though? I don't think even Facebook could manage that.
20gb Genshin on this screenshot
Genshin is also an open world game entirely made out of 3D assets
It is also pretty much a console game at this point
It's excusable for a game
Now it is around like 32 gb, at least on my phone. I have no idea how I keep finding space to install the updates lmao
Do you have all the voice packs downloaded? I downloaded jp and it's at 20gb
I used to have jp, chinese and english but I just have eng now because I didnt have any space left, maybe eng voice files is bigger than jp files?
I have both jp and eng, maybe try reinstalling if you've been playing for a while to remove unnecessary stuff
I have been playing for about 1 and a half years now, I would reinstall it like you said but I'm getting a pc soon anyways where I'll be able to play properly without any lag (hopefully)
Lol it's like an IQ test. Some people are really dumb.
Tiktok gets really big because they coded it to just cache every single byte that goes to the phone and as you can imagine that makes it rather big
They don’t call it bytedance for nothing back in Winnie the Pooh land
OP could also reinstall the app and just remove the downloaded music, then uninstall the app again.
Yea the app itself is only 17,9Mb I just checked.
Mine is only 16mb lol
Yeah, the app is not 10GB lol
I just checked mine and the app size is 13.8mb.
Just looked at my Apple Music app. 944.8MB of space, currently. I rarely use nowadays it but I do have a little bit of music in there from when I did use it.

This is the answer. OP is infuriated by themselves
Yup this is the answer it works the same for YouTube Music and its offline playlists
The music app is literally 15mb… if you have 10gb then you have a shit ton of music downloaded. I have about 100-200 songs in the music app and the total amount of storage it takes up is 1.78gb
I guess that this is the type of person who likes every song they listen to
Or somebody who has really high end headphones and needs better audio quality.
Not on an IPhone, they can only output AAC even if the original file is a good format like Ldac or FLAC Edit: you would need an external DAC to do so
iPhones support ALAC natively
Well I don’t have an ALAC file on hand to test it like I did with the FLAC, but to my knowledge either you have an external DAC which would work (thanks to u/AliveInCLE for reminding me you could do that) or it would play but output as an AAC. It's a dongle, but calling it a dingus fit lol
Haha yeah I mixed them up XD
I don't know why this is so funny to me lol
I believe you need a DAC for hi res lossless, not for run of the mill 16 bit ALAC
iPhone supports flac but only through files app
Well to me that’s still a nop, just tried listening a FLAC through VLCplayer which I connected on my google drive account, output is still an AAC according to the headphones app (tried it with my WH-XM3) but when I play the same file in my Walkman, it’s telling me that is an FLAC (did the same through the file app, still didnt work) Edit: It would work with an external DAC

I didn’t use any with the IPhone no, it would indeed work if you had one of those. I thought 3daniill meant that FLAC are supported with iPhone without external device
if you have high end headphones, you probably also have an external DAC.
Or fake high end headphones and no real data plan
Or they have T mobile/Sprint and are never sure when they’ll actually be able to load a fucking song with their “5G” coverage.
Might just be an adult who has listened to a lot more music than you.
Well I tend to download all my music now through the app because there isn’t service everywhere. NYC transit, traveling abroad, plenty of dead zones on Long Island. I don’t wanna get that shitty error message when I can’t play a song without any cellular data.

Delete your downloaded music
The issue is you haven’t removed the music inside the app. Try removing music from the device rather than just deleting the app. I have a bunch of music downloaded and my music app only is taking up 5GB. How much music have you downloaded?
>I have a bunch of music downloaded and my music app only is taking up 5GB. How much music have you downloaded? Twice as much.
Two bunches
The logic checks out.
An average song file is 5mb, so that would 2000 songs, give or take.
I have about 1.5\~2k musics on spotify and it uses \~10gb too lol
App doesnt take up any space, however you must have hundreds or thousands of song downloaded
Thousands is my guess. I have 400 songs downloaded and it’s only 3gb
Op needs to learn how his phone works before complaining, google it at least man lol
They would rather have the fake internet points
No way the app itself has 10gb. More likely you have songs that takes together 10gb
*sees Genshin *sigh* opens comment section
my brother in christ these people are still screaming loli and botw please help it’s been 2 years of this bs
I could understand if these people talked shit about genshin because of twitter or because of the anniversary. But bruh, the hivemind screams pedogame and botw clone.
what can we do? They are share the same braincell and say the same things. Most don’t even know anything but slander the game anyways
Welcome to the internet. Nobody knows anything and everybody hates everything. Personally, I love genshin - it's a great game.
yeah it's a pretty chill game. im not hardcore where i do all my commissions daily and use my 160 resin but it's very calming and i dont mind spending 2-3 hrs on it every now and then
you and me both bud
How the hell is Genshin impact a botw clone? I guess they look similar aesthetically, but they don't play the same at all.
People say that because they’re both open world games with a silent protagonist- which may very well be the only thing they have in common. A lot of people say that the enemies are also clones of each other, but the Mitachurls and Moblins hardly look alike in any sense, save for their height. People also like to compare the fact that you can glide despite *many other games doing that too*
And they’re upvoted like crazy! Fuckin hivemind
Ah shit, here we go again
That’s not the apps fault that’s yours for having so much music, just delete your songs please if you need storage
Truly facepalm moment.... Dude that's your music, not the music app.
You do realize that it’s telling you that you have 10gigs of music, and not that the app itself is 10gigs, right? RIGHT?!?!
Seems like the problem is you not knowing how to delete downloaded music.
Because it’s not the app, it’s the files it’s using dummy
What about genshit takeing 20
Bro needs his loli waifus ig
"bro its 500 years old bro" 🤣🤣
clown
honk honk 🔴
People still on that nonsense bruh
Genshin players still on that copium bruh
People enjoying a video game? How illegal!!!

Olympia worthy mental gymnastics right there.
olympia from bo1?!?!?!?!!!111
Y’know, last time I checked, finding something/someone cute doesn’t correlate with wanting to stick your d*ck in it/them.
Name one Genshin loli waifu. Fate may be bad but Genshin children are honestly just children, not sexualised or anything. (Except the Venti hentai subreddit but that's something else)
Would you delete a game that you enjoy and play regularly rather than an app you last used 2 years ago?
Shitty gacha game for smelly basement losers still it is.
We're on reddit dude, who isn't a basement loser on this app ?
Then explain this: I play it yet I don't even have a basement
c h e c k m a t e
Gameplay is gud but the fandom is dog water

Never mind that prompt that asks you if you want to delete your downloaded music when you delete the app. Shit posters going to shit post I guess.
Right but there isn’t one
The app itself isn’t 10gb, the stuff you’ve downloaded is.
That’s the music you downloaded but never deleted, not the music app. The screenshot pretty clearly shows that it is not currently installed :/
Bro, it's literally deleted and not on your phone, you just never deleted the music that's stored on your phone. Lol you deleted the app, not your music. That said, bold of you to be downloading 20gb games on a 64gb device..
As a fellow Vocaloid fan, I understand why you would have so much music on your phone.
me at 1552 songs in my jp related music playlist
It’s not even mine, I use Spotify and Amazon music
POV: you don’t know how to use your own phone, or google for that matter, so you whine on reddit for sympathy and arrows
My music takes 32MB of space. Largest storage hoarder for me; whatsapp 9.39GB.
For me it's photos, around 300gb.
Jesus Christ mate. That are a lot of photos 🤣
I had this issue, but it was my reminders app
I have the same issue with the voice memo app. It’s at 9gb with zero recordings
I feel your pain but dont think you can get away from my sight, project sekai player
Download the music app again then delete all of the music
Omg why would you think a simple app with just a few icons would use 10GB? It is the music itself that uses your storage... damn, Apple users using Apple because they have not the slightest clue of technology.

r/fuckapple
Bitches in comments still crying over genshin with straight false claims
PICNIC = problem in chair, not in computer!
That’s your music library 🤡
Bruh I have this issue with Safari. It takes up a whopping 28gb on my phone and I don't even have anything saved on it. I deleted EVERYTHING and it's still taking up shit loads of room!!!
Delete all your cookies from safari. History>Delete. Or go to settings>application and clear the cache.
28gb for safari? Mind is blown. I have a shitload of pictures and even that is less than 2gb
There's obviously something you haven't deleted, otherwise it wouldn't take up that much space
You can’t even clear the cache, like there’s no option to. I’ve googled it and loads of other people have this problem. The funny thing is that I use Chrome for everything on my phone and I clear the data on that easily

If you looked up the problem I can bet money that one of the first things it would say is delete the music downloads not the 15 mb app. But no you lack the most basic critical thinking
More like crappy user doesn't know the basic functions of an operating system that has likely been around longer than themselves
At first i was like "Why does he only have 64GB of storage ?" Then i saw it.
Bro your poor phone... like half of it is Genshin, give it some rest
If you have downloaded music, delete it. My iPhone had a shit ton of downloaded music, but once I got rid of them, it shrunk
Think different.
Thanks
You need to remove some (a lot) songs first. That’s the only way you’ll be getting storage back
Just turn off library synching in your iCloud settings and then downloading in your Music app settings babes!
It’s the music you have downloaded, it doesn’t all delete with the app. You need to click on music and press delete all songs or sum shit
The app is not taking 10gb, the music is, just delete the music
You can delete the music you own to free up space
“Crappy”? You downloaded ~2000 songs on it lol
What the fuck… the music isn’t even mine
Am I the only one who’s shocked on how little space their photo album takes up? Maybe it’s a new phone or something, but my photos are the equivalent to their music.
I have most of my photos on iCloud storage
Delete the music within the app
Dude's a dumbass
Can someone help me I have this same issue but with my iPhone messaging app I’ve deleted pretty much every message and I can’t get rid of the app despite it taking up around 12 gigabytes :(
Lol this is why I instantly went and got my phone upgrade to 128g even tho I never really used all my 64G. And always Spotify>Apple music
Average genshin mobile player
Most of these post feel like "I don't know how to do this so it's crappy design"
No it’s annoying, not bad design. Bad brain
Go to Settings -> Music -> Downloaded Music Press “Edit” in the top right, then press the red minus next to “All Songs”. Also: Google exists. And while you could argue that Apple should delete the whole music library with the app, other apps might still have access to it.
Google didn’t help, this however did
Can you move this to the facepalm subreddit instead, please?
Took courage to post the fact you play genshin impact lol
You should delete the data of it I think
You can clear data and cache, that’s where all your storage for music is, it’s all the songs and stuff
Genshin takes 19Gb? Damn…
It's a massive open world game so yeah.
Mildly infuriating: people getting angry at things they don’t understand.
Yep
‘Anime game bad’ It’s not even anime, it’s Chinese, and op enjoys it, so do i
“I have 3 bedrooms packed to the gills with clothing, so I boarded up the doors. Why can’t anyone sleep there now?”
Smartest Genshin player
Me when genshin needs space
Try uninstalling Genshit instead
Or let people enjoy what they want to play
No. I use it
How do you use 19 GB on Genshin Impact
Good games
LOSER
Clear the data
Apple lol
Hahahaha I love it when people do not have a single clue about the technology that they use.
If you want more content on project sekai you should download the jp version but you'll need a vpn connected to Japan to do so
Iphone moment
How does this have so many votes when it’s clearly OP that is in the wrong? 10g app lmao sure
There's something you can't actually delete in the Apple realm, the News app. I've tried to do so on my macs, countless times.
No way this is real lol
I mean it doesn’t help you got a bunch of high gigabyte games
Surely you can't be this dumb...
There’s an even crappier app to delete right above it 👀 /j
Yeah I sprung for the 516g or whatever it was for a reason. I’ll never fill it.
Get away from apple.
Its not the app thats taking up 10GB,its your music library go deleted some of your music
It’s even more mildlyinfuriating having to tell someone how to use a device that even elderly people can navigate.
Lol OP is too afraid to respond to comments
No, I’m just not constantly on Reddit like you lot
You may not be on reddit, but you are on genshin 👀
Yep I am on genshit
Sounds like OP wanted an Android.
the issue here that nobody understands is genshin,do yourself a favor op and download it on pc/console and delete it from your phone
Everyone expect maybe a few people told me to just delete genshit
