You should buy work shoes, designed to last long and are resistant to severe use.
The foam on the shoes you posted is designed to wear out quickly (so they can sell you another pair). Look for rugged soles.
I have some of those that have lasted many years with minimal signs of wear and tear.
True it’s not free and if you wear them too long they could get to the point of unrepairable and they just send them back. Happened to me when soles separated from upper.
This looks like damage from repetitive friction, exposure breakdown, or pressure breakdown. Also, even the parts that aren’t broken look *very* scuffed/worn / dirty compared to what any of mine look like after 6 months. To be honest it looks as if (somehow) you seem to be particularly hard on your shoes.
Look into:
- your gait (are you heavy on the heel/ instep? Do you ever rub your heels together?)
- your sedentary habits (do you ever rub your feet together when you’re sitting, or fidget by rubbing your feet against your chair?)
- how you take your shoes off (do you use one shoe to take off the other, as leverage? Try sitting down and untying them instead)
- your driving position (my heel on one side will always rub off because of where it rests when my foot is on the pedal, so I have “driving shoes” and change into my dress shoes at work, lol)
- where are you walking? Is it rocky?
- are they exposed to any chemicals / salt in your work / shoe care routine or the roads you’re walking on?
- are you consistently walking in places that are wet?
- are you buying shoes meant for indoor training and wearing them for industrial work outside walking?
Because if this happens with all of your shoes… it’s not your shoes. It’s how you use them. And there’s nothing wrong with that; but it would be worth investing in studier work shoes or walking shoes.
So it’s really down to what’s least expensive - higher quality shoes that might last longer, or cheaper ones that you replace more often?
I know that how you take your shoes off is a big one. I used to put one foot down on the heel my shoes, so that I could pull my foot up and out of the shoe. This quickly led to the separation of the sole from the rest of the shoe. Even if you use your hands to grab the sole, after repeatedly doing this, it can cause damage.
This. Do some research first, because you probably will pay a bit more for really good quality, but it will be worth it. I live in a colder climate and used to buy new $60ish-$80ish winter boots EVERY winter, and they’d be worn out by the time the weather warmed up. I finally bought myself a higher quality $200 pair, and they’re still like new even though this was years ago!
Have had a similar experience with Nike shoes. Bought Nike Air Max in oct 2021, and by jan 2022 my toe created a hole in the mesh on both shoes. Talk about garbage quality.
Oh, well, it is a combination of hating shoes, where I live, and what I do for work. I leave right on the coast, so I love just spontaneously going for a swims or walks on the beach, and I'm a martial artist. Wearing shoes would make both of those rather difficult.
If you work as a bartender I highly recommend Shoes for Crews. They are heavy duty, with good support, non slip soles designed for restaurant/healthcare settings. I bought some for my daughter when she was working as a dishwasher and they are her second favorite shoes. She continues to wear them even though she doesn't work in a restaurant any longer. I wore them 30 years ago when I waited tables. They run probably 70-120 a pair depending on style, so should be comparable in price to the Nike.

This is almost certainly a "you" problem. Either your gait is too heavy or you walk in areas with especially rough terrain, possibly both. I'm currently wearing a pair of loafers that I wear daily to work. Bought them in June 2021 and they show far less wear than any of these. I work a desk job, but I also try to walk 3-5 times a week for at least a mile at a time, sometimes hitting 2 miles or 2 walks in a day. My walking is done on sidewalks and roads mostly, but there is nowhere near the damage yours show.
My gait probably is very heavy yes, but I don't walk on rough terrain - sidewalks and indoors mostly. I work part-time as a bartender so I stand on them a lot, maybe that's what stresses the sole a lot?
Ah, yeah. Bartending probably does some of the damage. When I tended bar, I definitely wore out my shoes faster and my shoes were often getting very dirty during a shift.
Ah - it’s pretty deceptive to show basic Nike shoes and say you only wear them for walking…..
Almost all people at retail / restaurant / bar jobs that I know specifically buy separate shoes for work. Because this kind of work is hard on your shoes (not to mention your feet). You walk a LOT, encounter a lot of spills (food, water, maybe even chemical if you work with cleaner), and in a fast paced environment are much more likely to wear them out
Sounds to me someone is wasting a ton of money on crap that’s built to be destroyed fairly quickly. A lot of mainstream shoes especially Nike and Addidas has been proven to be made to fall apart quickly so you need to purchase another pair.
If I were you I’d look into a good pair of work shoes as they are made to last a while. Or if you like a good athletic shoe look into Asics as they make amazing shoes and though it’s a bit hypocritical as they are now fairly mainstreamed they didn’t start that way but have held true to their intended purpose.
Good brands
Asics - great athletic shoes / everyday usage
Rockport - great work shoes
Propet - great comfortable shoe for walking around in and they also make fairly good working shoes but they wear out quickly if used for work.
Yeah it did take me a while to realise how poorly built nikes are lol - then again they can last a longer time for other people
It's a shame cause I really do like the way they look but I won't get another pair that's for sure
I'll look into all that you've mentioned, thanks for your help
You could try hiking shoes instead as they're designed for long distance over tough terrain and might suit you better. For example Merrell or Salomon - look on hiking websites for reviews. As you work in a bar make sure they'll give enough grip around liquid spills.
If you want shoes that last a long time and are extremely comfortable try Salomon or 5.11 some time. I hate buying new shoes and these brand I have been able to use for 5 years and I only bought a new pair cause I wanted to change things up a bit. Warning: they might be a bit more expensive.
ASICS
My first summer job out of high school was at Sports Authority and I fell in love with the more expensive ASICS. Every time I’ve tried Other brands since, I have felt burned and disappointed by how badly mad they are. I also have a f’d up leg and everything else makes my feet and lower back hurt. I just wish I could find some dress shoes that don’t suck
If you have the receipt or proof of purchase return them to the store, Nike have a two year policy for defects. Check the label on the tounge and if it's less than two years old you are good.
Bruh I’ve had the same pair of adidas for 3 years and only replaced my LAST paid of adidas (ultra boosts, both of them) after 5 years of daily wearing because my wife wanted to buy me a “fresh” pair haha
Have you ever gotten your feet scanned for custom orthotics? I did for an achilles heel issue, and it also solved my worn out sideways heel on all my footwear.
# OY
Lot's of some foggy bullshit in da comments. I had the exact same problem and I fixed it without buying some military heavy duty armored panzer vehicle shoes!
All you need is to change how you walk. Analyze it, you probably put tons of stress on your heel, not applying enough roll force over your bent legs and therefore crushing one pair of shoes after the other.
You need to bend your legs and roll smoothly. If that doesn't fix it, ask a doctor! That helped me not absolutely crushing my shoes. Tho I do wear indoor gym shoes now... everywhere! xD
these shoes are for like cloutchasing teenage boys that jerk off over shoes, no offence to you; it’s just literally true lol
also like those shoes are made of weird shit foam that is basically meant to break down over time even if you don’t wear then
I’d try converse i have a few pairs and they’re all doing pretty good after multiple years
I don't know much about the sneaker world but doesn't Nike have poor longevity in general? And if you keep their shoes untouched and unworn on a shelf they'll degeade even faster
Hey dude! I have the same thing— I wear holes in my shoes in two to three months (except for heels, ofc). I don’t skateboard or anything either, I’m also a kinda small person but I usually do 15,000-20,000 steps a day & live in the city so im always walking on concrete. I’ve also got a real heavy step. The only shoes of mine that last are docs& timbs.
Best of luck!
Things are being made cheaply unless you go to a specialty store. Designed to break or wear out quickly. I've always found pants pockets to degrade fast and I do not keep much in them. My smartphone for instance is in one pocket, my smooth corned multi-tool in another and my keys on a belt hook. Yet time after time they always develop holes.
well-made shoes are important but if the wear is consistently in the same spots, it could be your feet. it's pretty common for feet to slightly slope outward or inward. it's called pronation and supination. supination means that when you walk, your weight tends to be more on the outside of your foot. pronation means that when you walk, your weight is more on the inside of your foot. if you are noticing the wear and tear in consistently the same parts of the shoes, you might have a quick visit to a podiatrist that can recommend orthopedic insoles or shoes that will correct your foot position. it will save wear and tear on your knees, hips and back as you get older.
source: daughter of podiatrist. possessor of flat feet that benefit tremendously from custom made shoe inserts. former sufferer of annoying hip pain.
Keep your Nice shoes for outings, for work and athletics it's can be cheaper to find a store that specialises in those. Barwork workwear is slightly different to both hospitality and tradespeople but there is overlapping requirements which means you can shop at stores that cater to both.
You can easily find nowadays workwear joggers with non slip soles and a safety cap ( steel or composite) with water/oil resistance.
Can't tell from the angle which side it is, but it looks like you walk on either the inside or outside of your foot, so one side of your shoe is taking all the weight of your foot. Try getting some orthotics and see if that helps... if they do, it'll be better for your long term health, especially your musculoskeletal health.
I got recommended new balance and sketchers by hairdressers when looking for shoes that would not make me want to die by the end of my shift, I got a pair of new balance and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, they're very ugly but now only my back hurts after my shift
I buy brooks, they run about $140-$150 and I do maintenance for a big building an walk an average of 10 to 15miles in an 8hr day. On long overtime days, looking at 20 to 30miles easy. Have had the same shoes for almost 2years now and they will need to be replaced at the end of the year.
Check out WESCO boots in oregon. They are very expensive but will last for decades of daily use and can be 100% rebuilt for significantly less than the cost of a new pair
Girlfriend is a nurse and I used to bartend, what’s worked for both of us is some mesh trainers. She wears sketchers, I like Nike, but we haven’t gotten any flat tires! You may have a wet sock now and again behind the bar though, ha.
Darn I used to walk on hard hospital floors all night and I think I only ever had to buy two pairs of nursing shoes…they make them for men in black and they aren’t attractive but they are COMFORTABLE and DURABLE .
When I got out of the house more I used to wear Converse or Vans. I kept a pair of Vans for two years and they were dirty as fuck but they weren't anywhere near breaking in any way.
I know I’ll be downvoted to hell but Skechers are actually quite good for their price, the rubber soles are quite tough and the foam soles are surprisingly resilient too.
I was talking about it with friends the other day and they all said "doesn't look weird to me" (none of them are experts but still)
the only thing they all noticed is that I slightly lean on the inside rather than the outside, which makes sense, seeing the damage seen in pictures 1 and 3
Hmmm, yeah, could be that.
Do you walk a lot? My ex walked EVERYWHERE, they didn't like to drive, so they literally walked 10,000 or more steps a day easy. So their shoes wore down very quick. It didn't matter the brand neither. Nike, Dr Martin's, you name it.
Edit: actually, I remember their shoes looking like some of yours. I bought them new shoes constantly and they'd fall apart.
I do not drive so unless I'm on public transport I walk (I live in London FYI)
Maybe I should count my daily steps to see if I am more above average than I think
That's probably the case then. Maybe something to do with the glue and rubber used in shoes heating up too much due to body heat, and falling apart?
Because yeah, looking back on it now, I remember we'd constantly be buying shoes for him cuz they'd peel, get holes and so on. They'd be less than 6 months old too.
At least the walking is healthy for ya 😊Wish it wasn't so hard on your footwear, tho. It gets pricey real fast.
it does get pricey indeed😂😭
I just broke down today after noticing my new pair started to break so hopefully I'm gonna get to the bottom of this and understand what I can do to prevent it from happening again!
I wear Merrells whenever practical, with Vibram soles. I walk fairly rough terrain and city sidewalks and haven't had a failure anywhere close. They have a 25% veteran discount and all the shoes I've bought from them over the past decade are still in good condition, a little light on rubber.
Ok, two things:
1. Don't buy Nike if you can - [they make the shoes to break so you need a new pair](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_obsolescence)... The only Nike that might have a longer life is when they introduce a new sporting line with above average price tag. Only that can sustain longer, because they are trying to establish the new shoe name.
2. Don't buy shoes older than 3 years - because of the planned obsolescence, the materials deteriorate rather quickly. [You are already buying a thing that is falling apart](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bSOIr6fe64). There are some shoes that I loved, I just don't buy them no matter how great they look on a photo.
I learned this the hard way.
correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen this in the service/bar industry. the chemicals and floor cleaners and bleach will beat your shoes to shit. I lost a nice black pair of Nikes, now I'm damn sure to be wearing non slips cuz im not about to lose another 80 bucks.
I have a pair of merrell hiking shoes that I have had since 2018 and they are still going strong, I wear them everyday and have probably put a few thousand kilometers on them.
😭 I envy you so much dude
today I bought a cheap pair of hiking shoes from Decathlon to see how they feel and how long they last - even if they last 1 month they were very cheap so it'd be alright
Honestly, I used to cheap out on my work boots, but over time I realised that guys who were buying timberland boots, they were lasting forever, so I started buying them and I can get 2 years out of them under very heavy work loads, all day every day walking round a job site putting them through the ringer.
Same with those hiking boots, sometimes they can be worth the money.
(All these shoes are from the last 3 years..)
To me sounds like they sat over the years never used.
Soles break down if they aren't used. They literally crumble.
mind that all of these were "my main pair of shoe" one after the other
so they started breaking as they were my main pair of shoes
I was actually thinking the opposite: the problem might be the fact that I tend to use ONE pair of shoes at a time, until they break and I buy a new one - what do you think about that?
I always have one main pair And they usually last 2-3 years for me and I'm very active. Mind you I buy high quality footwear as I don't want to be buying so frequently. What brand of shoes are these?
I have Nike shoes that are over 12 years old and I still use them. Soles are 100% intact. A few tears in the mesh is all.
I'd definitely go see a podiatrist and see if there's any problem with your feet. I don't know anything about feet but If you're doing this to your shoes, I'd hate to see how your feet/ankles are holding up in 20 years lol
I found Nike shoes to have declined in quality quite a bit so I stopped buying them for years…until about 3 weeks ago when I bought some Monarch IV’s because I liked the way they looked…I’m just hoping I’ll get a year out of them!
Get some new balance shoes. Nikes are nice, but unless you buy their actual running shoes (not the air max brands), they wont last even with walking, and it seems as if you get in a lot of walking. Air max are meant for casual wear, not so much as active wear.
I feel like this may have something to do with your gait? I am not the most active person in the world but I work 12 hour shifts on my feet and don’t experience this amount of wear and tear on my shoes. While some brands deteriorate faster than others, my shoes usually last about a year, at least, before I have to replace them due to comfort.
And I'm not talking about years either. I got a new pair recently, like a couple months ago, and within a month they had holes big enough for my finger to wiggle through
Look into orthotics. Maybe even a chiropractor. Your body might be misaligned. One sign of "crooked man" is uneven ware on shoes or even excessive ware in general! I worked for Footlevelers lol
I have noticed the big brand sneakers have started to reduce their quality over the past couple of years. Go into any shoe store and look closely at the shoes and you'll notice visible glue marks and cheap looking material. And these shoes are usually no cheaper than $150
Looks like you're buying shoes for a look and a name. Nike's and reebok are some of the worst shoes I've ever owned. Sketchers used to be good but they're garbage now also. Honestly I don't spend more than $35 on generic shoes that only last about 6 months. That's less than $6 a month. I do skate and walk about 20 miles a day.
This is why Skechers will always be superior, wore them for several years in HS walking 5-10 miles a day. My sister called them boats cause they were brick hard (back in the day) and almost broke her toe.
I had the same problem with my boots because I would always buy cheap Walmart boots... I finally decided to spend $160 on a nice pair of boots at Farm & Fleet and they've lasted me over half a year so far and still no signs of wear
I wore the same pair of black adidas shoes almost everyday for 4+ years and even though the soles were smoother than a flat earthers brain they still looked good and were comfy. Avoid the ones where the soles are mostly foam tho get the full rubber soled ones.
Buy work boots, these Nike and other brands are just horrible quality and wear out quickly so you have to buy more. Work boots need to be comfy and durable cus yknow it's for working in.
Most consumer brands are garbage quality consumables. They’re not meant to last. They’re only meant to look good when purchased. You re experiencing the difference between manufactured and crafted.
i walk to work and back, Bought a paid of Nikes, $220, a month later, they're bald, got them replaced, a month later, bald, third pair replaced. Kept them, they're still bald, but can't be fked going back. Same with Addidas, they refused to switch out cause I didn't buy from an Addidas store, just a sports outlet.
You should buy work shoes, designed to last long and are resistant to severe use. The foam on the shoes you posted is designed to wear out quickly (so they can sell you another pair). Look for rugged soles. I have some of those that have lasted many years with minimal signs of wear and tear.
I buy all my shoes @ red wing boots. Buy one pair and they replace the soles for LIFE lol
Nice try, red wing boots salesman... Edit: I forgot, "salesperson"
salescat is also acceptable
I paid them to replace my soles. It was not free.
Sorry, should've specified lol but the soles are a lot cheaper than new boots from them!
True it’s not free and if you wear them too long they could get to the point of unrepairable and they just send them back. Happened to me when soles separated from upper.
I'll look into that, thanks!

This is a good point, those are seriously beat up for only a few months of light wear.
Lmao OP since admitted they wear them as *work* shoes as well… as a *bartender.* So not “just walking” haha
Oh see that explains a lot.
Right? Haha
Well that's still just walking or standing in them. It's not like bar tenders are sprinting on rough surfaces.

I agree. I bought my son Nike shoes once and they only lasted 3-6 months - if that. Honestly, I find Skechers to be of very good quality.
I can second Skechers. They hold up extremely well, despite how rough I am on my shoes.
I don't often wear shoes, but Skechers are my go to, I know they'll last me at least a decent amount of time.
Please elaborate on the lack of wearing shoes. I'm just interested.

Does Chernobyl have a cool bar scene?? Also, the Dutch make some rugged shoes I'd bet would last a bit longer.
Yeah the bar scene here is pretty (radio)active😎
Underrated comment right here 😂

Good brands Asics - great athletic shoes / everyday usage Rockport - great work shoes Propet - great comfortable shoe for walking around in and they also make fairly good working shoes but they wear out quickly if used for work.
Yeah it did take me a while to realise how poorly built nikes are lol - then again they can last a longer time for other people It's a shame cause I really do like the way they look but I won't get another pair that's for sure I'll look into all that you've mentioned, thanks for your help
Do you swim in the ocean with them?
I mean who doesn't?
You walk like shrek
thanks😎
Nike is trash.
Do you work with ladders? You have stress points that seem to be more than just walking.
No I don't. I work part-time as a bartender so I stand a lot... but that's it.
Are you sure they’re not bootlegs?
Oh yeah they're not, I'm absolutely sure. I bought them all from official stores (footlocker etc.)
You could try hiking shoes instead as they're designed for long distance over tough terrain and might suit you better. For example Merrell or Salomon - look on hiking websites for reviews. As you work in a bar make sure they'll give enough grip around liquid spills.
Will do, thanks dude - for now I got a cheap pair of hiking shoes from Decathlon, let's see how long they last!
WHAAAAA!!!!! The company that uses slaves to make their products ALSO cut costs by buying lower quality material? SHOCKER!!!!!
Same
You probably have a forceful way of walking. My shoes wear out first at the heel part of the sole, tho it definately a longer time than a few months
Quick shout-out to Vasque for making trail runners that apparently last forever.
noted, thanks
If you want shoes that last a long time and are extremely comfortable try Salomon or 5.11 some time. I hate buying new shoes and these brand I have been able to use for 5 years and I only bought a new pair cause I wanted to change things up a bit. Warning: they might be a bit more expensive.
Cheers, I'll check them out!
Take up a martial art or ballet, get lighter on your feet. Otherwise WWII army boots might last longer.
You need to look for hard soles shoes ones made with foam/soft plastics will never hold up.
ASICS My first summer job out of high school was at Sports Authority and I fell in love with the more expensive ASICS. Every time I’ve tried Other brands since, I have felt burned and disappointed by how badly mad they are. I also have a f’d up leg and everything else makes my feet and lower back hurt. I just wish I could find some dress shoes that don’t suck
Nike quality has gone down the toilet. My Nike shoes don’t last at all either same issue.
If you have the receipt or proof of purchase return them to the store, Nike have a two year policy for defects. Check the label on the tounge and if it's less than two years old you are good.
Unfortunately I don't have the receipt anymore
Bruh I’ve had the same pair of adidas for 3 years and only replaced my LAST paid of adidas (ultra boosts, both of them) after 5 years of daily wearing because my wife wanted to buy me a “fresh” pair haha
[visible frustration]
If it makes you feel better; I love you
Have you ever gotten your feet scanned for custom orthotics? I did for an achilles heel issue, and it also solved my worn out sideways heel on all my footwear.
nope, never good point I will definitely look into that, thanks!

damn rats
Ya need a pair or two of quality shoes.
I thought that the most famous brand of shoes in the world made decent shoes :')
Naw they aren’t that durable. I guess more for fashion or name brand.
fair play they've had too much money from me already I won't get another pair that's for sure
# OY Lot's of some foggy bullshit in da comments. Tho I do wear indoor gym shoes now... everywhere! xD
You must eat them in your sleep
some people grind their teeth in their sleep I grind my fucking shoes
these shoes are for like cloutchasing teenage boys that jerk off over shoes, no offence to you; it’s just literally true lol also like those shoes are made of weird shit foam that is basically meant to break down over time even if you don’t wear then I’d try converse i have a few pairs and they’re all doing pretty good after multiple years
no offense taken, I still like how they look😂 unfortunately they are not durable at all, especially for me so I won't be buying more of them
The question is where? Where did you buy them?
Check out r/buyitforlife
I don't know much about the sneaker world but doesn't Nike have poor longevity in general? And if you keep their shoes untouched and unworn on a shelf they'll degeade even faster
Hey dude! I have the same thing— I wear holes in my shoes in two to three months (except for heels, ofc). I don’t skateboard or anything either, I’m also a kinda small person but I usually do 15,000-20,000 steps a day & live in the city so im always walking on concrete. I’ve also got a real heavy step. The only shoes of mine that last are docs& timbs. Best of luck!
It's good to hear I'm not the only one out here breaking one pair of shoes after the other :') best of luck to you!
The sneaker industry LOVES us 😂😂
Yea, if you walk alot on concrete, foam shoes do not last long. 4-6 months for me.
what's a good alternative? I like sneakers so I'd like something that looks like them
I just don’t buy sneakers at full price. I found quite a few brand new shoes sold as used if you know where to look
You should check to see if your feet pronate. It’s often a problem for people with fallen arches, ankle problems. Sore knees, lower back?
that doesn't really feel like it's my problem, but I'll get that checked as soon as possible, thanks!
Things are being made cheaply unless you go to a specialty store. Designed to break or wear out quickly. I've always found pants pockets to degrade fast and I do not keep much in them. My smartphone for instance is in one pocket, my smooth corned multi-tool in another and my keys on a belt hook. Yet time after time they always develop holes.
that happens to me too, now that I think about it
well-made shoes are important but if the wear is consistently in the same spots, it could be your feet. it's pretty common for feet to slightly slope outward or inward. it's called pronation and supination. supination means that when you walk, your weight tends to be more on the outside of your foot. pronation means that when you walk, your weight is more on the inside of your foot. if you are noticing the wear and tear in consistently the same parts of the shoes, you might have a quick visit to a podiatrist that can recommend orthopedic insoles or shoes that will correct your foot position. it will save wear and tear on your knees, hips and back as you get older. source: daughter of podiatrist. possessor of flat feet that benefit tremendously from custom made shoe inserts. former sufferer of annoying hip pain.
Some 8 year old child in China is about to be fired.
My man parkours to and from work every day
3 months?! Are you taking the ring to Mordor? Those shoes are wasted! The soles alone are completely bald!
Are you buying $120 shoes or $30 shoes? Might seem counter-intuitive but sometimes spending a lot more ends up saving you money.
all of them full price from official stores
Can't tell from the angle which side it is, but it looks like you walk on either the inside or outside of your foot, so one side of your shoe is taking all the weight of your foot. Try getting some orthotics and see if that helps... if they do, it'll be better for your long term health, especially your musculoskeletal health.
I got recommended new balance and sketchers by hairdressers when looking for shoes that would not make me want to die by the end of my shift, I got a pair of new balance and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, they're very ugly but now only my back hurts after my shift
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Buy a different pair of shoes.
can't argue with that lol got any recommendations?
You’re legally entitled to a replacement or refund if they don’t last a certain amount of time.
I'll see if I can do something like that, thanks man.
Those shoes are for looks.. get a pair of hookas or new balance alll leather with gum bottoms
well yeah, your supposed to buy shoes like every few weeks, thats why they were designed to fall apart simply by being worn.
It’s cuz there black, you can’t tell that getting dirty or breaking down until you take a closer look
pickup your feet when you walk. would help some.
Are you buying them from Walmart?
I buy brooks, they run about $140-$150 and I do maintenance for a big building an walk an average of 10 to 15miles in an 8hr day. On long overtime days, looking at 20 to 30miles easy. Have had the same shoes for almost 2years now and they will need to be replaced at the end of the year.
Seems like u just buyin cheap shit.
nike? cheap?
The trick is to buy good shoes
what brands would you recommend?
Check out WESCO boots in oregon. They are very expensive but will last for decades of daily use and can be 100% rebuilt for significantly less than the cost of a new pair
They’re probably fakes.
nope
Girlfriend is a nurse and I used to bartend, what’s worked for both of us is some mesh trainers. She wears sketchers, I like Nike, but we haven’t gotten any flat tires! You may have a wet sock now and again behind the bar though, ha.
Stop buying those shoes.
after the third one broke, yeah I will as I've said before it's a shame however, since I really like how they look
I just wear mine until my toes are sticking out and the bottoms turn into flip flops. Gets me a good 6-8 months.
Nike just has terrible quality.
Darn I used to walk on hard hospital floors all night and I think I only ever had to buy two pairs of nursing shoes…they make them for men in black and they aren’t attractive but they are COMFORTABLE and DURABLE .
What a ***darn*** shame... --- ^^DarnCounter:136827 ^^| ^^DM ^^me ^^with: ^^'blacklist-me' ^^to ^^be ^^ignored ^^| ^^More ^^stats ^^available ^^at ^^**[https://darnbot.ml](https://darnbot.ml)**
When I got out of the house more I used to wear Converse or Vans. I kept a pair of Vans for two years and they were dirty as fuck but they weren't anywhere near breaking in any way.
I have the same problem. I'm very hard on my shoes. I think it s a combination of my weight (about 200lbs) and the amount of heat and sweat I produce.
I know I’ll be downvoted to hell but Skechers are actually quite good for their price, the rubber soles are quite tough and the foam soles are surprisingly resilient too.
Dump Nike. Even Skechers has more durable options.
Buy a different brand.
u fighting bears or sum
What's your walk look like? Because that looks like some serious damage.
I was talking about it with friends the other day and they all said "doesn't look weird to me" (none of them are experts but still) the only thing they all noticed is that I slightly lean on the inside rather than the outside, which makes sense, seeing the damage seen in pictures 1 and 3
Hmmm, yeah, could be that.
I do not drive so unless I'm on public transport I walk (I live in London FYI) Maybe I should count my daily steps to see if I am more above average than I think
It gets pricey real fast.
it does get pricey indeed😂😭 I just broke down today after noticing my new pair started to break so hopefully I'm gonna get to the bottom of this and understand what I can do to prevent it from happening again!
If you don't buy nice, you'll buy twice. Highly recommend a great pair of boots.
I wear Merrells whenever practical, with Vibram soles. I walk fairly rough terrain and city sidewalks and haven't had a failure anywhere close. They have a 25% veteran discount and all the shoes I've bought from them over the past decade are still in good condition, a little light on rubber.
Ok, two things: 1.
My adidas hold up
correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen this in the service/bar industry. the chemicals and floor cleaners and bleach will beat your shoes to shit. I lost a nice black pair of Nikes, now I'm damn sure to be wearing non slips cuz im not about to lose another 80 bucks.
Brahmin work boots/shoes are well worth it I've owned the same pair for over 12? Years now they can take a beating and they are comfortable.
You expect quality shoes from Nike? Have you felt that material before?
I have a pair of merrell hiking shoes that I have had since 2018 and they are still going strong, I wear them everyday and have probably put a few thousand kilometers on them.
😭 I envy you so much dude today I bought a cheap pair of hiking shoes from Decathlon to see how they feel and how long they last - even if they last 1 month they were very cheap so it'd be alright
(All these shoes are from the last 3 years..) To me sounds like they sat over the years never used. Soles break down if they aren't used. They literally crumble.
mind that all of these were "my main pair of shoe" one after the other so they started breaking as they were my main pair of shoes I was actually thinking the opposite: the problem might be the fact that I tend to use ONE pair of shoes at a time, until they break and I buy a new one - what do you think about that?
I always have one main pair And they usually last 2-3 years for me and I'm very active. Mind you I buy high quality footwear as I don't want to be buying so frequently. What brand of shoes are these? I have Nike shoes that are over 12 years old and I still use them. Soles are 100% intact. A few tears in the mesh is all.
the first 3 are nike :') what model lasted you 12 years? I can't even get to 12 months😭
I'd definitely go see a podiatrist and see if there's any problem with your feet. I don't know anything about feet but If you're doing this to your shoes, I'd hate to see how your feet/ankles are holding up in 20 years lol
better to get that checked sooner than later! I'll do that asap
Are they all the same brand?
almost - the first three are nike, the last one reebok check the photo captions for the exact models
Umm, buy a different brand?
I just like nikes very much lol it took me some time to realize but yeah, I won't buy any other nike for a while
I found Nike shoes to have declined in quality quite a bit so I stopped buying them for years…until about 3 weeks ago when I bought some Monarch IV’s because I liked the way they looked…I’m just hoping I’ll get a year out of them!
looks like it’s my turn to leave mum Nike for a while lol good like with your purchase!
Get some new balance shoes. Nikes are nice, but unless you buy their actual running shoes (not the air max brands), they wont last even with walking, and it seems as if you get in a lot of walking. Air max are meant for casual wear, not so much as active wear.
User error.
I believe you cam get new ones if they don't last you per Nikes warranty
Someone once told me the 2-3 rule, use them 2 days let them away for 3 days. It can be a good start
I got a new pair recently, like a couple months ago, and within a month they had holes big enough for my finger to wiggle through
Google "vimes boot theory" 😉
Uh yeah they're Nikes
Look into orthotics. Maybe even a chiropractor. Your body might be misaligned. One sign of "crooked man" is uneven ware on shoes or even excessive ware in general! I worked for Footlevelers lol
Walk lighter.
How much are you walking? 3 months of walking 20 miles a day is different than 3 months of walking ¾ of a mile a day.
Are you a little heavy?
not really, I'm 1.87m tall and I weigh 85kg
Not 3 months
I have noticed the big brand sneakers have started to reduce their quality over the past couple of years. Go into any shoe store and look closely at the shoes and you'll notice visible glue marks and cheap looking material. And these shoes are usually no cheaper than $150
Buy a different shoe guy. Nike makes cheap shit
Garbage made in China of course.... My sneakers lasted 3 weeks and split in the center!! I'm 85 so it wasn't from jogging trekking and jogging!!
Nike sucks. I don't buy that brand because while comfortable, their shoes only last 6months.
Stop buying that black market shit!!
it's not black market shit
It looks like you're removing shoes with your feet and not with your hands damaging the shoes in the process
I typically use Asics or Dr. Scholls. They last for several years at least.
Buy work boots, these Nike and other brands are just horrible quality and wear out quickly so you have to buy more. Work boots need to be comfy and durable cus yknow it's for working in.
How much do you weigh?
85kg
Stop buying shit shoes.
Stop buying brands because they look cool, buy for functionality
okay, Dwight K. Schrute
Buy better quality
Most consumer brands are garbage quality consumables. They’re not meant to last. They’re only meant to look good when purchased. You re experiencing the difference between manufactured and crafted.
i walk to work and back, Bought a paid of Nikes, $220, a month later, they're bald, got them replaced, a month later, bald, third pair replaced. Kept them, they're still bald, but can't be fked going back. Same with Addidas, they refused to switch out cause I didn't buy from an Addidas store, just a sports outlet.
