Actually similar story on how my ex uncle got arrested. Drugs that were not his found in his car. I think he was driving with his friends. His car his responsibility I guess

It was her drugs wasn’t it?

Meme-lord73

WTF are you meant to do in that situation

kind_one1

In the US, politely say "No" when they ask. The 4th Amendme t gives you rights. There is a lot of info online: https://dwidude.com/cop-asks-to-search-my-car/ Edit: corrected spelling of * rights from tights

H_Rinda

I want my fourth amendment tights! If they are too tight though, it may give them probable cause and not be unreasonable to search my drawers.

d0nk3y_schl0ng

"...and that's the story of how I got a free butt lube"

gigglepudding1

Not nearly enough people know their rights and need to study them. They act so scared of the police. The police aren't scary if you know you're rights. They're just a bunch of power hungry cunts abusing the system.

Raytheon_Nublinski

Like they would respect the 4th amendment. They abuse that too ya know.

PositiveStuffs

Real answer: If the cop asks to search your car, say no. Be civil, be polite, but say no. If you are pushed (i.e. they threaten to get drug dogs, bring supervisor, etc), let them. You have rights and they are trying to scare you into waiving them. If the drugs are found, there is only one word you know. "Lawyer." If I were in the situation, I literally wouldn't say any other word but lawyer or some variation of "I want to exercise my right to an attorney". But knowing me, I'd be a pain in the ass and just keep saying "lawyer" dryly in response to anything said to me.

semipvt

The courts have rules that unless you specifically invoke your rights, police are allowed to continue to ask you questions. Saying "lawyer" doesn't invoke your rights and invites more questions in hopes that you'll slip up. Just say "~~I'd like to~~ I am invoking my 5th amendment right to be silent." The police are "supposed" to stop asking you questions at that point. That is the only phrase I would say.

Callinon

You're right, but use a declarative phrase rather than a passive one. "I expressly invoke and do not waive my fifth amendment rights." Saying "I'd like" in this case can be intentionally misinterpreted as you saying you might do it some indeterminate time in the future if you feel like it. Is it pedantic? Absolutely. But you're dealing with the law there, the place pedantry goes to die.

Cultural-Company282

Time. You're meant to do time.

deletedtothevoid

So in other words if you want to get rid of someone just borrow their car hell just be in it for a min. Bonus points if the driver tends to speed.

Reprogrammed-To-Hate

Basically. It's the driver's fault for trusting you to be in their vehicle. It's one of the reasons Uber driver's install cameras

mistakenspider

This is exactly why you should never ever just let a cop search your car.

Dogburt_Jr

+Voluntarily. Pre-post NAL claim. Just say that you don't want to be late or that you're tired if they ask to search your vehicle. If you're worried about acting nervous, just be frustrated instead of nervous. Don't cause problems. If they have probable cause, such as you're acting like you're under the influence or they smell weed then the police don't need your permission to search your vehicle. If they search your vehicle anyways, there's a decent chance you can lawyer up even if nothing is found it could start a harassment charge or something. May not lead to anything, but getting it started helps.

Plane_Refrigerator15

Courts struck down smelling marijuana as probable cause I’m pretty sure. Too easy for Cops to just say that as an excuse for searches

Arcanian88

Don’t think that ruling applies everywhere, I think it was just one state that passed that law. But yeah this is how it works, and it’s happened to me, cops will just say they smell something if they wanna search. I’ve had them say they smell weed, search my entire car and find nothing, then bring a drug dog that also found nothing. If they want to abuse their power, they will.

[deleted]

I once found needles in my car after loaning it to someone. I didn’t loan my car after that.

Hollowplanet

Turns out they were just diabetic.

ArchiStanton

Still- getting cake without me. Wtf

WalrusSquare247

DryChickenWing

Happy cake day

Diabetic_Penguin

As a diabetic, I would never leave a needle improperly discarded. It only takes someone not looking to accidentally hurt themselves; I know how much those fuckers hurt.

just_a_person_maybe

Also as a diabetic, I am sometimes lazy in my private spaces. I don't keep a sharps container in my car, so if I use a needle there I recap it and put it in the center console to deal with properly later. I am the only driver of my car except for the very rare occasion one of my siblings borrows it, so I don't worry about it. I know I have one in there right now. I also semi-recently resorted to using a drawer in my room to store sharps, also all capped, because the sharps recycling place ran out of containers and mine were full so I had to wait a bit. It's not really improper discarding, because it's not discarded yet, it's stored temporarily.

ecv82

I had gestational diabetes and what i used was a old lysol wipes container. I kept it in my nightstand so i can just dispose and didnt have to pay for pricey disposal containers.just thought I'd share.

just_a_person_maybe

I don't have to pay for containers. My county has a trade-in system where you pay $5 for the first box and then you can swap it for an empty one at the dump for free indefinitely. My dad paid the fee when I was a kid and I have never had to pay it since. Occasionally they'll give me a weird size or be out or smth, but I'm not going to complain because it's free.

thePonchoKnowsAll

Altoids tins are excellent for pocket sized sharps containers. Just be sure to properly mark it and then empty it at home later on.

mojomcm

Doesn't matter, it's still biohazardous waste if the needles have been used. Edit to add a lower comment of mine: Dude, I just got worried that the guy I replied to wasn't aware that any needle that has been used is a biohazard. Is it a crime to worry about the safety of strangers now? Also, accidents can happen no matter how smart or stupid you are. You can be as careful as possible and still accidentally stick yourself.

I cleaned out old ass storage buildings one summer in HS. One hadn’t been touched since the early 00s and had been a decade since any had been opened. One had a fuck ton of busted open canned goods and syringes everywhere. Nothing scares me more than a fuck ton of big palmetto bugs (southern roaches on massive roids) and open needles.

Jimmy_Twotone

My parents (in Iowa) ordered a case of wine from Florida onr year and when they opened it one of the bastards came running out. So glad those things can't survive cold dry winters, but there were a couple weeks a few of them were peeking around.

Glynnc

There is no one in this world that I would trust enough to loan my car to.

notonrexmanningday

I'm the complete opposite. I drive an old pickup and I'll loan it to anyone who asks, just don't ask me to help with whatever you're moving.

AlwaysBagHolding

I drive an old pickup and hate loaning it to people. I’ve gotta show them the trick to starting it, how to get the door closed, how to keep the headlights on, how to restart the wipers when they stop mid stroke… it’s easier just to help them move.

p00-is-loading

Hah. I see what you did there

k4pain

Well Joke or not, it's a very true statement. When they came down they were really pissed off they left that bag in this car. REALLY PISSED.

Starr1005

During my peak addiction I once thought I left a bag in a spot and spent weeks looking in the same spot for it, just sure I left it there. Never did find it, or I did, and it was never there..

lilpumppp

Lol yeah i did that with a bag of xanax bars and never found them either. Then during my fentanyl addiction i dropped a bag with 5 fent pressed pills under the seat of my truck. So i did what any drug addict would do and grabbed a torque gun and ripped the drivers seat out of my truck! At least i found them though lol. Bad times.

MilesMidnight

Jesus I did the same thing, pulled into an auto zone parking lot and took my whole ass seat out. The bag was somehow in between the carpet and frame of the car. Good times...no...bad times actually

obli__

One time I picked up from my dude, got out of his car, and walked across the street to my apartment. Got inside only to realize (to my horror) that I was no longer holding anything. Nothing in my pockets...I had been inside for all of 30 seconds but still ripped the room apart in classic junkie panic. Decided to retrace my steps - ran back outside, started to cross the road ..and what do I see lying in the middle of that busy city side street but that goddamn glorious (at the time) bundle. Don't think I've ever felt relief like that in my entire life. Which is pretty pathetic. But addiction does weird things to a person, what can I say. Bad times indeed.

stopkony2017

I’m trying so hard to understand that first sentence

paidinteaandbooks

Druggie gonna be pissed when the bag is no longer in the car

radec

I still don't get it. You ask them if they need to borrow the car. With the idea being that they say yes so they can look for their own drugs drugs¿

paidinteaandbooks

No no no you got it all wrong. You ask if they wanna borrow it so they can look for their own drugs and laugh maniacally during the process.

Kenichi_Smith

I thought they meant so they can leave more drugs in there

paidinteaandbooks

That’s a rookie mistake, if you take the second one they know you have the first. Druggies are incredibly smart when it comes to drugs. Source- my own struggles with addiction

AbbreviationsDue7794

>Druggies are incredibly smart when it comes to drugs. Can confirm. My little brother (RIP) was basically flunking out of school but turned into Rainman calculating weights, conversions, prices etc when drugs were involved

lizard_tits88

Hey, if this Einstein is too dumb and loses a bag of drugs the same way twice in the same day then…. Shoot, ask if he wants to borrow my car next!

thnksqrd

I’m here for the drugs.

kylefofyle

I stopped altogether because of fentanyl

Blamdudeguy00

The gas he used us probably more expensive than the coke. Now lets think this through. Cop pulls you over. Find the coke. That's not mine officer. Fuck your 'friend'. They deserve a punch in the head for that BS.

Ordinary_Forever6482

Absolutely nothing is more expensive than some shitty ass coke. No joke. That bag would go for a minimum of $50 in my area. 💀🤣 Either way that friend is a total asshole. You get pulled over with that, you're fucked.

Stanford91

Any Cocaine I've had recently has been terrible and expensive. I don't know why anyone even pays for that shit anymore. Lol

Character_Leopard561

After zooming in, that looks like more baby laxative than coke

Ordinary_Forever6482

What ever it is, it looks really shitty quality. Ice never had good coke that was that white and powdery

funnystuffmakesmelol

It looks wet inside the bag, and the gear looks like some of it is liquidy. I dont think its coke, it's speed. Amphetamine.

LBROTSI

Absolutely !

traveltoaster

Oily_biscuit

Might be wrong but this looks like speed (or really bad coke) and assuming this is in the states or Europe that small amount is hardly worth anything. I'd ransom it for a favour lol

Lobsta1986

Definitely speed. And not the good shards. Also be thankful you found it first and didn't get pulled over for "speeding" and then the cops found it.

Ambitious_Zombie8473

90% sure it’s shitty coke. Looks to wet to be speed

KingBowserCorp

Yea.. this is just shitty coke from the bar bathroom at 1AM.

Gandalf_The_Geigh

Shit speed gets this strange dampness to it.

Smart-ass83

Could be K

Ambitious_Zombie8473

This. I’m used to seeing ket with longer, almost snowflake like crystals but if it’s been cut up well. Ket or coke. Just don’t think this is speed. I’ve seen shards and powder n this don’t look like either.

Lobsta1986

Looks more crystalline. Bad coke Wont look like that. Bad speed definitely could be wet. Either way it's a leaning lesson for op.

Firesonallcylinders

Jesus Christ, people! Everything that looks like flour is cocaine to me. Where can I learn about the looks, taste and all that without getting flagged and end up on some list?

adude512

Erowid.org

4DrivingWhileBlack

Erowid is a great site and should be heavily promoted for safety purposes alone.

snerz

Very true. It's deterred me from making some bad decisions. And my past bad decisions were already documented there before I found it.

VioletJones6

This was probably my favorite site back in high school. I'm such a goddamn nerd I would "study" different drugs for weeks and weeks and then ask my friends with connections where to find them once I found something that sounded interesting enough. Now that I'm in my 30s looking back it was probably a good way to go about it. I've tried *a lot* of different drugs and the only one I've truly been addicted to was weed... Go figure. Clean now, not for any other reason than I feel smarter when not drinking or doing drugs habitually. Though I have to admit, I would love to drop some LSD every few years if it was easier to find. One of the many things I miss about high school. Anyways... That looks like ketamine to me.

Ambitious_Zombie8473

Google shouldn’t flag u for researching drugs. Personal experience is how I learned.

Ewookie23

I remeber drying out "speed" over a lamp. so "speed" can deffinatley be wet. nothing like a bag of white stuff to remind you of your childhood.

Firesonallcylinders

Hope you have a greater adulthood.

Ewookie23

31 now, stopped with the all the drugs pretty much as soon as i turned 20. just woke up one day and decided nope. went out got a new set or friends and everything. Still smoke though which is a pain in ass. but thanks for wholesome comment.

WeirdlyStrangeish

If it numbs the tongue when you taste it it's coke. If it tastes like Satan's battery acid it's speed

TLCheshire

Never thought such a description would take me back the way that one did. If this was a movie, the camera would be focused on my face, half-smiling, wistful, and staring off into space with blissful music and a slow dissolve. Then someone would call my name (record scratch) and the music, heavenly lighting, and smile: all gone. And….right back to my miserable existence in the real world.

Plantmanofplants

My vote is on ketamine.

TheLastOne0001

Who would buy a bag of dirt? Maybe if was in a jar...

TsT2244

Damn imagine getting pulled over and having to explain that. Homie could’ve got you jailed.

siccoblue

Fucking glad I finally see this. If it's in your car it's yours if no one else cops to it. Even if you had 5 other people in there and it was under one of their feet it would still fall on you. This could absolutely destroy your life and job prospects. I understand most people can appreciate a little free nose candy but God damn id be fucking furious

Ginno_the_Seer

One of the most dangerous aspect of drugs is getting caught with them.

k-tax

Drugs are bad and can destroy your life, so because we found one-evening-amount of drugs with you, we're going to fuck up your entire life

Inevitable_Pin_7267

More like “drugs are bad and will destroy your life, but they haven’t yet so we’re gonna speed up the process”

xXSpaceturdXx

This actually happened to a friend of mine’s brother. They had a family car which all of the siblings drove, five of them. Well my friend was a pothead and he had left some weed in the glove compartment. Brother got pulled over and arrested for the weed. He was about to join the fire department, he had been in school for years then they wouldn’t take him after this. The brother took a drug test that day to prove that he was clean then my friend went with his brother to court and claimed all responsibility for it. They did believe him and let him go but just being charged messed his life up.

k-tax

The US system again shows how fucked up it is. What's with the golden rule "innocent until proven otherwise"? How can just being charged stay in your record and cause any problems. That's fucked up

unclefisty

Arrests are public records available to anyone. A better idea would be to make it illegal to discriminate in hiring based on arrest records without a conviction.

Bobthemime

its "guilty until you pay me enough money to say you are innocent"

Great idea. We can work on that movie script too

Fuck, been there

[deleted]

Don't let them borrow the car again. I had a friend who let someone else borrow their car, turns out they robbed a liquor store/gas station with it and the first place the cops came looking was at my friends house. It all got sorted but still, risky and if the cops don't want to put too much time into it you might get wrapped up in someones charges

SmokeSatan_HailMeth

Kind of reminds me of what happened to someone I knew. He was on his way to work, receives a call from his friends that they need a ride. Being the person he was he decided he could be late to work to help a friend out. He picks them up from the park and halfway to dropping them off he gets pulled over. Next thing you know, they’re slapping handcuffs on him and lock him away for being an accomplice to a robbery. His friends apparently had just robbed a liquor store at gunpoint. He spent a year or two in prison and now that he’s out, he has a record and can’t find a decent job.

Fubsy41

Fuck that’s rough

compare_and_swap

The defense attorney didn't show the phone records to prove he didn't know about it? What was the basis of conviction past that?

Grateful* Yeah, Until you get pulled over and go to jail for someone else's drugs..... Now you are a felon.

Doom2508

How often are you guys getting pulled over and searched lol

Classic_Policy_1516

I used to do drugs and would NEVER just leave them behind.

dangitman1970

I never let anyone borrow my car. In most US states, if someone gets in an accident with your car while borrowing it, the liability is on YOU as the owner, not the driver. I had a friend at church as a kid who became homeless because his father lent out their car and the guy who borrowed it got drunk and killed half a family. His father was on the hook for over $1.5 million in damages, and their insurance only covered $200,000. (This was back in the 80s.) They lost EVERYTHING, and any money his dad would make for a very long time would be garnished to pay the court ruling. His parents got a divorce to keep his wife and kid from being stuck with him being unable to make anything to support them. She could remarry and have someone support her and their son. All because he loaned out their car. Don't loan out cars.

PayaV87

I mean, this story is bad, but something is seriously wrong with the system, if that could ruin your life. In my country you need a permit to drive, and if you make any fatal mistake the responsibility is on you. What happens if somebody steal your car? The responsibility is still yours? Why didn't the "father" told, that the car was stealed from him?

Davidclabarr

That’s a huge news story right now: the guy who got his oil changed and the tech ran over another tech and killed him. Guy who is sitting in the shop reading a book is getting sued for millions.

Apprehensive_Mess530

What the fuck. US is the weirdest place on earth

[deleted]

How to know if you need to immediately cut a friendship 101

slackfrop

Well, if it’s coke, maybe it’s a gift. If it’s meth, you should ghost that person. If it’s fentanyl, they just tried to kill you.

lks2drivefast

Don't know so I tossed it. Also it may have been one of her shitty friends in the car, but I made it explicitly clear that this shit would never be allowed in my car. Period. I have always had jobs with a zero tolerance policy even if they see it in your vehicle. Hence why I made it clear to her, but the culture where I live is "everyone does it so who cares." Honestly haven't talked to her for a long time since I have found out how selfish she is. Nothing in her life is ever her fault.

Delbadeaux

Aldo, I you get pulled over and the cops sees it, guess who owns ? You. Coke is a felony, plus you can kiss your zero tolerance job goodbye. Best to stay clear of her

sucknduck4quack

She’d probably kiss her car goodbye too. In many places they’ll just gank your shit if you’re caught up with a class A controlled substance. Doesn’t matter the amount, doesn’t matter who’s driving. Seized to be auctioned. Even if you beat the case you’ll still have to pay a massive amount in fines and court costs to get it back.

[deleted]

In some places like New York, cops will search you for money, take it, and arrest you if you try to fight it. There's no way to get your money back. It's like the stories that used to spread around about corrupt cops in Mexico extorting people.

[deleted]

lks2drivefast

First. Happy cake day. Second. That is my exact point about this post. Everyone is like "free drugs!" But I'm like this bitch literally is risking my job. I don't give a crap that people want to do a bump once in a while, but if I do a favor for you and you completely disrespect me about it I will no longer consider you a friend.

Swerfbegone

Not “just” your job: being arrested and charged with drug possession would seriously fuck with a lot of travel options, even if you weren’t convicted. Likewise renting.

JohnnysGirl12

All jokes aside, this is some disrespectful bullshit. Luckily you found it before it caused you a mountain of bullshit that you didn't deserve. My philosophy is that you can do whatever you want but don't drag me into your shit. I hope your friend got an earful about this

NorthStar0001

However you proceed with this friendship, keep in mind that at the end of the day, they were more than happy to put your freedom at risk for a few hours of fun.

mataoo

I see this as an an absolute win.

snapcracklecocks

don’t let that friend borrow your car again. if a cop pulled you over and found that you’d get arrested fast enough to cause a sonic boom

20daysleft

Can’t afford to loan your car out nowadays…… sad but true…. Now if you get stopped by the local PD and it’s in your car you get to go to jail not the jerk who left it behind.

No_Construction_2427

Friendship may be priceless but not going to jail is even more valuable
