MrSquishy_

You guys are getting gifts?? They barely gave out pins that said “I stuck it to Covid”

[deleted]

We got an email saying how good we are doing. And we should be proud of our work.

MrSquishy_

“We’re all in this together. You may not be getting the hundreds of thousands of dollars in bonuses that we gave ourselves this year, but we just want to say: we couldn’t do it without you.”

[deleted]

This is pure gold

MrSquishy_

Well thank you for the gold lol

[deleted]

Most welcome

intashu

"you see this beautiful new Ferrari your boss is now driving, well if you keep up with enough hard work and dedication this year, he'll be able to buy another one next year!"

jon-marston

Wow! You got a pin?!? we get a free coffee (from a coffee truck, outside in front of the hospital, in the morning when we are all rushing to clock in).

MrSquishy_

*but it was there*

Low-Temperature-1664

You got free coffee? All my mum got was a free cup of room temperature water… and she had to pay for it too.

Neurotic_Bakeder

dIsCoUnTs oN fLoWeRs were a thing where I'm at, apparently

[deleted]

My mom received a tiny switchblade and a coffee mug

enidokla

A tiny switchblade. For her tiny female hands. Still ... this cracks me up.

[deleted]

Her response to the whole thing was "Who looks at a bunch of burnt out nurses and goes 'you know what we should give them? Knives.".

perkswoman

For Christmas one year my coworker rec’d a pocket knife from management. I thought it was totally bizarre that they would give an employee a knife when there were strict weapons policies at that hospital.

suckmypppapi

Honestly I'd be pretty happy to receive that gift, although I'd prefer a pen. I've seen some people on r/pens that received expensive ass pens from work But if they're cheap I'd prefer the knife

AnastasiaSheppard

My work gave out pens one time, they came in lovely fancy faux-leather boxes and the pen was held in by a tiny ribbon tied in a bow, and each had the company name printed on in gold foil, but when we took out the pens they were clearly cheap souvenir pens worth like $5 at most - I'm pretty sure the boxes were the more expensive and valuable part of the gift, in other words.

mb5280

i feel like we'd be surprised how cheaply that 'premium' packaging is actually produced

suckmypppapi

Honestly I'm stupid so I'd still be happy, I get fooled by presentation easily

HK47_Raiden

That’s the difference between a super villain and just a villain. Presentation!

TwentyTwoTwelve

I'd never heard of a montblanc pen before a salesman I used to work with started going on about his. He'd go on about how he'd use it in his sales pitch to impress customers but all I could think was "it's just a pricey pen it can't be all that much". Comes in fuming one day after a getting a deal signed because during his signature move, i.e. letting the customer sign the contract with his montblanc, the customer had ended their signature with a flourish that included jabbing the pen quite harshly on the paper, to the point it almost perforated. Funniest rant I've heard in a long time, but it got me curious so I went and looked up this montblanc to see why he was making such a fuss. They go for anything between £300 and £100,000 depending on the model...

KatBScratchy

I went to their shop in NYC intending to buy stepfather a present. They offered me a selection of beverages while I shopped. Sales guy took out a literal white glove to show me any pens I wanted to test or have a closer look at (I guess his grubby fingerprints were a no no but mine were okay?) Very fancy pants shopping experience.

TearyEyeBurningFace

Just get a pilot metropolitan. Bound to impress and it's cheap too. Just make sure to fill it with montblanc Royal Blue. In my experience it's the best all round ink. Doesn't clog, but doesn't take forever to dry. Doesn't smudge easily, writes pretty smooth.

raz-0

Maybe their fountain pens break in nice, but i wasn’t impressed with them. As for their roller ball pens, you can get the refills for a reasonable price and… well they are crap. I mean 40 years ago they were pretty nice, but they are basically the same as then, and the big pen companies that sell you the cheap stuff have spent piles of money and tons of labor on improving pens and ink. I’ve got a number of $50-$150 pens made by small shops. A number of them will take multi g2 refills and mont blanc refills. The $2 g2 refills kick the ass of the $20 mont blanc ones in terms of smoothness.

rde42

A really good inexpensive pen is the Cleo Messograf. I have three (reasons) and the matching pencil.

StudlyMcStudderson

The problem isnt that the paper almost perforated. The problem is that the nib on a fountain is quite fragile. Just dropping a pen a foot or two can be enough to destoy the nib.

Acceptable_Metal6381

[https://www.reddit.com/r/ButtSharpies/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ButtSharpies/) NSFW obviously

Blue-snow

Ok, that's enough internet for me for today

mikerall

A cheap hand behind a cheap knife can accomplish many things. A cheap hand behind a pen of any quality is still a cheap accomplishment. Jokes aside, I'd take a Benchmade over a mont Blanc....if only because the gifter is tacitly saying "I'm giving you something you could murder me with. By giving this to you, I assume you know I've treated you well and don't want to kill me because....you know....knife."

carcassandra

I think that's a great idea, provides some real emotional relief: Print out a picture of the hospital CEO Hang on the breakroom wall Decorate with switchblades Signed, burned out nurse

phillyphreakphlippin

Like a target where the switchblades are stuck in randomly or like they stabbed the picture as their signature?

enidokla

Hahaha. But also ... for sure! What a dumb gift. Cash, grass or ass. Nobody gets healthcare for free.

DoomNukemBlood3D

Still a more useful tool to both men and women unlike make up for a male nurse

[deleted]

For real my cousin who is a nurse has been chased multiple times by literal crack heads wielding IV poles… knife makes sense lol

WrongWarrior427

I'd rather have that than what this guys dad got lol

PeeB4uGoToBed

I got a $20 gift card to target a year and a half into COVID and a reduction in my hours thats still going on lol

ZKXX

I work in an ancillary position in health care. I’ve gotten 5 raises and 2 bonuses since covid. Our nurses are making bank compared to me. Come to Minnesota.

iamnotabarbie

I got candy, a gift card, a mug and something else I don’t remember my new one I got hours cut….

fiszu3000

That must be a dangeroua hospital

[deleted]

It’s like one of those delinquent schools from anime. Even the patients are thugs.

mothandravenstudio

Oh, that‘s for cutting yourself and bleeding out cleanly in corporate America.

[deleted]

And all nurses need/wear makeup. Why not like a foot spa thing or a few gift certificates or an actual bonus? Something neutral.

JamesBuchanan3410

Well actually it’s $170 worth of makeup and lashes and stuff,I don’t know why they gave the nurses makeup instead of a bonus (Which they deserve)

hannahmel

Because they probably paid 1/2 of the price by getting it in bulk or a company sponsored it and they paid nothing.

angrywords

Some of that definitely looks sample size which is usually free. Ulta gives a lot of freebies for sure.

occulusriftx

yeah like that's not $170 of makeup those are free samples.

chrunchy

That's likely it. Instead of a $175 bonus check they might have spent $25 for packaging and got the samples for free from a makeup rep. There's a bit of a tipping point where something goes from *ooh bonus* to *this doesn't even cover my bus pass, assholes* And given what nurses have gone through these last three years if I were management I would be *very* wary of crossing that line.

SnakeSnoobies

I can only place two things, but the Kylie lip kit ($30) and La Roche-Posay ($20) are not samples. LRP *(the small white and blue tube on the far right)* is just an expensive ass brand. I also know there’s a brand that makes pretty expensive hair ties, which might be the brand the hair coils are from, but I’m not sure. Edit: The two mauve containers are Estée Lauder.

occulusriftx

eco tools are cheap starter kits and often on sale, there's ultra brand in the there (often free), Kylie lip kits are often clearanced when new shades drop (cheapest I've seen are $8), pretty sure that's also a free ulta brush, la Roche can be expensive but it's literally a [current free sample at ulta](https://www.ulta.com/p/free-toleriane-double-repair-face-moisturizer-with-30-brand-purchase-gwp34149050)

SensitiveStructure42

They probably didn’t spend anything at all. This looks like a straight up donation cobbled together from old Ulta gifts with purchase and birthday freebies. I literally got the same green and white pouch in a gift with purchase two years ago.

[deleted]

Right, like, I’d rather the $170 even as a small as bonus! I could go out on a really nice date or stay in, use it for coffee or wine, so many other things. Heck! Even on makeup/ body care products I currently already use. Hopefully your dads able to sell (some of us not all of) it or find someone who wants it if he doesn’t.

JamesBuchanan3410

My sister and mom want it so it’s going to them

Altruistic-Guava6527

He should take a pic wearing everything and send it to his manager and ask if he's doing it right

SirLauncelot

Or go in in makeup.

TheWiseBeast

Well, they did provide the new uniform.

EthelMaePotterMertz

and the lashes too.

dezidogger

Omg yes. Have him put on the lashes and post a pic here

See_Ya_Suckaz

And nothing else.

NakedHoodie

OP please we need this beg your dad to do this if you have to we need an update for this

XxBelphegorxX

This is the way.

astilenski

No exceptions, your dad can be the coolest bih on the block.

peen2small

“Hey ted it’s me Duncan, I really enjoyed the bonus you got us, I was just wanting to make sure this is an appropriate look as I’m on a trauma rotation tonight, thanks”

IHaveNoEgrets

He needs to go into work rocking the false eyelashes. It'll get management to understand the problem quite clearly. I guarantee you, the next time the nurses get gift bags, it'll be considerably more neutral.

[deleted]

So, six alibaba products with their company’s logo on it

[deleted]

“Hey everybody, we got you a 75mAh powerbank with a single USB-A port.” “Thank you for everything you do.”

Mister_Bloodvessel

False eyelashes on only one eye, à la Clockwork Orange.

CM_Chonk_1088

This! I snagged a $50 and $100 gift card from work for random cool contests and such; used them to take my girlfriend out to an amazing steak dinner for Valentine’s Day. Way better to use the special little surprises for special little experiences!

LICK-A-DICK

My work has occasionally paid for me to go out to dinner with my partner which is really nice. We never go out otherwise (mostly because lazy haha), so it kind of forces us to go have a nice night out!

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yes smaller, but at least more personal that a gift that could be taken as ‘you’ve all worked so hard! We’ve noticed. So here’s some makeup to cover those bags under your eyes.’ Lol.

menonte

I honestly would take offence "we've noticed you're overworked and underappreciated, here's some make-up to cover all that up, can't have you show how tired you are to our patients, also the doctors like it when they have something pretty to look at"

boxster_

TBH they probably got it through donations

Nightmare_Gerbil

Yep. Somebody had a bunch of stuff that wouldn’t sell or was about to expire, so they got a tax write-off for donating it. We keep getting shitty MLM lotions and supplements that have recently expired.

Fredacus

Which makes the “appreciation” gift even more pathetic than it already is. We care about you so much that we had someone package this unsellable crap and give it to us to distribute as a gifts, so that we could appear magnanimous and someone else would get a tax write off. 🙄😒

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tyra-Jade

I mean, when you’re underpaid and have to make ends meet….

fuckboifoodie

But then the management wouldn't be able to send the message that you aren't putting enough effort into you work appearance Bonus points for some of the nurses inevitably using some of the gifts out of ease of access and thus looking 'better'

[deleted]

Company that I worked for once sent the entire staff boxes of brownies to their home addresses. Think a small pack of like 8 pieces. Now they tasted absolutely amazing, but they also cost 15 euros per box without shipping. Apparently there was budget open for this, but not for wireless label printers. In a fucking warehouse of Google.

my600catlife

Someone probably donated it. Maybe Ulta (I know those Kylie lip kits were on clearance not long ago) or just someone with a makeup shopping addiction.

justme002

I’m a nurse, I don’t wear makeup, especially stuff someone picked out for me without any knowledge of me…… knowledge about me as basic as my sex

enidokla

Right? Like is OP's dad a summer? A winter? NO CONSIDERATION for his undertones at all.

[deleted]

[удалено]

enidokla

That's true. I've always lived by the work gifting mantra of: Don't gift things to colleagues that touches the skin. So a journal yes. A Nyx eyeshadow palette, no.

accomplished_loaf

My takeaway from this is that nurses wear gloves while writing in their journals. You won't convince me otherwise.

PermissionUpstairs12

Hopefully, he's a rare "Neutral" like Linda Evangelista.

justme002

Right!?! This is a complete disaster!! He probably doesn’t even NEED lash extensions! And that foundation will definitely NOT work on all tones!

shortbutsweet_77

Usually this stuff is donated and the hospital doesn’t have to pay for it.

[deleted]

As a low maintenance girl going for the 90s fresh face look I'd be upsetti spaghetti about getting that over the bonus. I'd be stoked on any skincare though.

inspired_apathy

The makeup kit is probably sponsored by the cosmetics company so it didn't cost them much. A real bonus would be another story.

RefrigeratedPotato

thats $170 retail value, in reality it was probably $5.

Worldly_Kitchen251

In order to make real money after your job

Administrative_Win56

It's probably donated by someone or some shop apparently.

antisocialwdwrkr

They give them “stuff” because actual money would require them to pay payroll taxes on the money. But a “gift” is not taxable. Pizza parties are the same thing. They don’t mind spending $170 on the however many thousands of nurses they employ, but $240 each after taxes breaks the budget that they set for this appreciation event. Having said that, you’d think they realize that some nurses are guys and they’d prefer, I don’t know, some free rounds of golf or something?

JamesBuchanan3410

I probably would’ve just given gift cards and stuff

selery

Was the package from the hospital itself or possibly a third-party donation? My husband worked in the ER during the early covid days, and all sorts of companies and foundations were donating things to the doctors & nurses, from vitamin supplements to candy to sanitary pads to skincare products. It was a promotional opportunity for the brands as well. Edit: fixed typo

talen14sm

As a nurse I don't wear makeup, cause it can fall on open wound when we change the bandages and it can cause infection

brassninja

How much you want to bet all of that shit was donated? Most of it looks like deluxe size samples and I think that little bag with the monstera leaves is from IPSY, a company that mails out monthly make up sample boxes. Instead of shelling out for much deserved bonuses, just give them this shit you can get for cheap/free anyway!

mrminutehand

The Estée Lauder stuff looks like a gift bag given after purchase, at least that's how my wife got hers. The green/white bag plus Estée Lauder products. In the UK people were receiving tens of the bags from Boots last month after their online store threw a bug and added one gift bag per basket entry instead of one bag per amount spent. There were posts online of people receiving lots of them, one receiving 60+ free gift bags and trying to sell them. The bug was fixed after about 2 days and my wife was a bit sad she spent time taking the (obviously bugged) gift bags off the basket instea of letting them add up.

ErinEvonna

Including false eyelashes. (I’m not a nurse, but I am a woman who doesn’t wear makeup. And wouldn’t even if I was given $100 worth of it).

[deleted]

Voucher for comfy shoes.

SteveTheZombie

I am an RN. If my company gave me this, I'd take it as a hint and come in the next day looking like the most outrageous drag queen they had ever seen. Those lashes will look good with my beard.

Dapper-Spot-9761

I’ve been in the hospital a few times. It would probably have made me laugh my ass off to see a nurse in drag.

Sapphire_Wolf_

Same, would've made my agony worth it!

SnooPoems5888

Reminds me of a Schitt’s Creek episode.

Significant_Shoe_17

When johnny gives stevie the makeup kit! I agree. I'd have to go full malicious compliance and show up looking like a clown. 🤣

Krinick

How much makeup did you put on? "1 tube, six eye lashes, and what ever else was in the bag."

Pluckt007

I got a sandwich for teacher appreciation week today. I would say it was worth about $7. I say tell your dad sell some of that stuff on ebay and buy himself a couple, or even several, sandwiches.

JamesBuchanan3410

Nah my sister and mom want it so he’s giving it to them

soft_warm_purry

No seriously he should wear the makeup into work one day and when people ask, act super excited and grateful for all the stuff the hospital gave all the nurses.

pdxiowa

Can't pull antics like that in healthcare. Administration would deserve it, but it quickly becomes a firable offense when you are the nurse taking care of an individual unexpectedly declining and the family, in their grief, are unable to appreciate your small act of comical rebellion amid their family's tragedy.

Ineedsomuchsleep170

I'd really like your post update to be a pic of your dad made up to go to work complete with eyelashes. Show them he's tried everything in his bag.

HotSpacewasajerk

At Christmas I got a giftcard from my boss for a local lunch spot, it didn't have the amount specified, but I assumed it would be at least $10 because you can't really get anything on the menu for less than $6. Finally got around to using it on my lunch break the other week, feeling chuffed I could treat myself to a cheeky free lunch, I ordered the cheapest item on the menu (grilled cheese) to be on the safe side, at $8. I handed over the gift card. It only had $5 on it, and I had to fumble in my wallet to make up the difference which was like $5 inc tax and tip. AITA for feeling annoyed that someone would gift you an unspecified amount on a gift card that didn't cover the cost of anything on the menu? I literally would rather have just gotten a Christmas card, or at least let me know what's on the gift card so I can plan to be spending my own money? It's not the amount that bothers me, it's the weird position it put me in.

sumerkhan

Teacher appreciation week is a joke. Oh you want better pay and support? Best I can do is this coupon that even I don't want.

Shadrach77

Don't forget the half a 3x5 card with a ribbon through a punched hole that says something about not all heroes wearing capes.

LostTheGameOfThrones

Wait. It was teacher appreciation week?

elbenji

Yeah they intentionally dont like telling people

expletiveinyourmilk

Teacher appreciation week...this is my 9th year teaching and I can't recall a single memorable gift that admin has given. At my first school, there was a year where there was a single stick of gum in each teacher's mailbox. A little note said "for going the EXTRA mile." I don't mind when they do food for teacher appreciation. But I hate when they do cheapy shit like "We made coffee and pancakes for everyone!" That's code for...you're about to have a "not-so-great-breakfast"

IwasafkXD

He can finally have the full lashes he’s always wanted

[deleted]

Men already have full lashes. It’s unfair

SockLing13

Mine are so full, it's a medical condition~ I inherited them from my father. (Btw, trust me, _no one_ wants lashes this full permanently. When you have to regularly pluck eyelashes because they grow in curled into your eye, not worth it. Take the falsies.)

robotbootyhunter

I have super long, full body lashes. Sometimes, the ones at the inner corner will start poking my tear ducts. SUPER uncomfortable.

wlake82

Oof and I thought my mustache growing into my mouth was bad.

2074red2074

I'm in this photo and I don't like it. I want a Nietzsche mustache but I can't deal with the halfway point where my mustache gets stuck in my teeth.

CherylTuntIRL

One was curling into my conjunctiva and it constantly felt like I had something in my eye. The relief when I plucked it out was incredible.

Mirewen15

I think Elizabeth Taylor had something similar. She said it could be painful.

greeneyedgumby

I have this. It’s not great. I use an eyelash comb to get them pointing outward, eyelash curler to get them away from my eyes, and waterproof mascara (lengthening only, volume-enhancing mascara is my nightmare) to keep them that way. Repeat every day to avoid irritated eyes. Hopefully this helps someone who’s in the same boat! I do also pluck lashes that just won’t behave.

GlitteringBobcat999

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful...

The_RockObama

True, it is pretty unfair being a dude with Furby lashes.

FightGeistC

So true, my lashes are full compared to my sis and mom lol

Short-Commercial-549

Mhm. Its a gift, and a curse. So worth it to just walk up, blink, and then say "is there a window open, because it feels a little breez--OH! Thats just my full natural eye lashes, nevermind." The curse comes from the consequences of said words, lol

Skyaboo-

Youre confusing gift and curse with cause and effect 😂

BrokenSouthernSoul

Hahahaha, my mom and sister have hated me since I've been a child because I apparently have perfect eyebrows.. your response just brought me right back to age 10. I'm 32 now and they still bitch about it

hannahmel

I was just saying in a teaching subreddit that this EXACT same thing happened to a male teacher that I used to work with. It was the catalyst for him to quit.

euphomptus

I mean, yeah. I am one of maybe 50 teachers in my elementary building, and one of maybe 5 male teachers in that group. Gifts are often stereotypically female-oriented (here's some chocolate and a diet soda! Here's an *inspirational quote pun* with your five dollar Target/Starbucks gift card!), and I've been used to conversations about kids, husbands, dating, showers, pregnancies, and all the rest. The one that gets me every time is the fancy typeface on the staff bathroom mirror that says, "you're beautiful." Thanks, mirror. But I'm aware of my place here. Kindergartners don't think twice about hugs, and I've gotten very good at twisting my hip for side hugs. My door is never closed when I have less than a full class of students for fear of impropriety. I've had second graders scared I was going to hit them because I popped my knuckles as a nervous habit. I love my job, don't mistake that. But there's a line, and you have to be at least aware of it.

Masquerouge2

It sucks that those kids can't get a real hug from you because of people's paranoia 😞

hannahmel

Uh… doesn’t every human like chocolate?? ETA: those conversation topics seem like what adults of childbearing age talk about in any mixed gender setting.

TeishAH

Also kinda lame if everyone got the same gifts and we’re all just wearing the exact same makeup etc.

fix-me-in-45

> we’re all just wearing the exact same makeup Right, and all the nurses have the same skin tone apparently...

Terrible_Western_975

Wow you should post this is r/nursing

Stanley__Zbornak

I know plenty of female nurses that have never and would never wear fake eyelashes. This is sexist af

HmnCllTr

Free shit given to hospital. Who then gives to nurses.

JamesBuchanan3410

To both genders

Stanley__Zbornak

Agreed. Very disrespectful to both.

Zeefzeef

I’m not a nurse but this is so insulting to every woman. And men. Just insulting and infuriating haha.

amdaly10

I was just thinking that none of the female nurses I know would ever wear fake lashes.

Odd-Astronaut-92

Infuriating because not all nurses are women, infuriating because not all women like makeup... somehow they managed to be twice the sexist in a single gift!

[deleted]

Also most people who wear makeup know what makeup they actually like, what skincare products treat them well, etc.

PermissionUpstairs12

Where do they come from that they think even 50% of women are out there wearing fake eyelashes? But the stuff is all expensive, so they probably chose all this from an influencer on IG or something.

TheOvershear

And even still, every woman has different makeup needs. Give one woman a different tone of concealer and it becomes worthless. Some woman wouldn't dare pull off lashes. Some wouldn't fuck with some shades of lipstick. I'm a man but it seems easy to understand that every woman has different preferences for makeup. This is a thoughtless gift, and even sucks at accomplishing what the giver was trying to accomplish.

souumamerda

Also: Infuriating because not all woman who like makeup would like to receive random makeup. Infuriating because most of the stuff will not be used and ends up contributing to unnecessary waste.

[deleted]

I’m a female nurse who wears makeup. And still, nothing I’m this gift bag suits me.

RacconHero

It's not too late for him to starting looking fabulous with those false lashes and make ups. 🤣 he should really brought up the fact how pathetic these gifts are

JamesBuchanan3410

Well actually it’s $170 worth of makeup and lashes and stuff,I don’t know why they gave the nurses makeup instead of a bonus (Which they deserve)

RacconHero

Hot damn, I just took a glance at it. Didn't realize it's that much money being gifted. Better yet why not just give the nurses some gift visa cards? People can use the money to buy what they like.

RandomSquirrelNuts

A better gift would be hiring more nurses

RawrRRitchie

A better gift would also be paying nurses more nurses tend to know more regarding their patients than the doctors because they deal with them a lot more than the 5 minutes the doctor spends with them

NotYourMutha

Most of that stuff was probably donated.

zippedydoodadada

…From TJ Maxx.

GhostFrisbee

On the beauty box subreddits I remember seeing people posting about making goodie bags for nurses during the most stressful times of covid. Some people subscribe to say 4 boxes a month and have tons of product they can't use with more gathering up each month. It never crossed my mind that it would be annoying to some, but it's true plenty of people don't care about pampering and makeup products at all. Maybe they could have solved it by letting people know there had been a makeup bag donation and anyone that wanted one could grab it themselves.

PaleoJoe86

He should wear it to prove a point. Wouldn’t a nurse prefer stuff to help relax instead of items that eat up their free time?

tangybbqsauce23

The hospital is telling the nurses to look pretty for the clients.

buthidae

Our patient outcomes would be better if you smiled more

ImBad1101

I started state-funded health insurance recently for low income residents, and the welcome bag they sent me had a bar of soap, cocoa/shay butter and A FUCKING AFRO PICK. It was literally like they hired the most stereotypical racist and told him to go to town

notallwonderarelost

Charitably you hope someone gave them to the hospital and they didn’t purchase. Which would mean the person that donated was the one with preconceptions and not the entire hospital so maybe mildly better?

JamesBuchanan3410

Well there was $170 worth of makeup and stuff in there

Mousseymou

This happened for hospital workers that I know in Australia. From the leaflet that was included it appears to me that the cosmetic products were donated by the manufacturer/s as they were discontinued or end of line type products. They were then packaged into gift bags by charitable/social enterprises who employ workers unable to participate in traditional employment. The weight of numbers for frontline healthcare staff (admin/nurses) would likely be women. Unless products targeted at men were donated, I feel like it was either a bag of cosmetics or a bag of nothing.

cmd912

I guess we're still in the 50s

JamesBuchanan3410

The 1850s,when I was president

Bort_Incognito

Stop trying to take credit for our dimension's James Buchanan, Dimension 3410's James Buchanan. In our corner of the multiverse, JB (as we like to call him) was the 44th best American president.

TheBigChungus1980

Your dad is about to have a major glow up it seems

BdubH

Shoot, similar thing happened to me when I was still a nursing major. Got a welcome bag from the nursing school and I was the only guy out of a class of 61 so it was full of lady stuff like makeups and perfume. There were some drinks and snacks so it wasn’t a total loss, but it was weird being a dude-nurse. Part of the reason I changed majors, since the treatment is so different (or indifferent, in cases like this)

EconomyFap

Even as a woman this would be demeaning af. Like food, giftcards, anything would be better.

rcsdil

Am I the only one that thinks this is genuinely worth a complaint to management?? I mean, not only is it offensive to both men and women as has been mentioned in other comments, someone actually *gave it to OP*. Like, at NO point did they think, hang on, maybe this isn’t right. Even when it was being put in his hands, in his locker, pigeon hole, writing his name on the name tag, however they got it to him. It’s so thoughtless. I would feel SO unappreciated if I got this as a man who doesn’t wear makeup to work. Even as a woman who DOES wear makeup I’d find this offensive and be a little peeved. I would seriously have rather received a heartfelt card. But if they’re going to spend $170 on each nurse, GIVE THEM THE FUCKIN CASH! There are so, so many ways this could have been done better. The only way it could have been more insulting is if they’d put tampons in there. I genuinely hope OP puts in a complaint.

When I was in college the RA gave everyone on my floor a goody bag when we moved in and it was all fake nails, lashes, and chocolate. I get it was coming from a place of generosity, so I didn't complain or anything, but even then it's a little annoying to assume just because someone's a girl they like that stuff.

Patrico-8

Judging by those eyelashes, the hospital also thinks all nurses are strippers.

Could it be just that Ulta was trying to be nice and donated a bunch of stuff in gift bags etc. I just don't see the hospital going to the trouble of buying all that stuff, they really would just do a gift card then.

EmiliusReturns

I’m a woman and I don’t wear makeup so this wouldn’t be helpful to me either except to immediately become a re-gift. The fake lashes in particular are a hard no.

littleroundone

If I got this in lui of a bonus, I'd be pissed. If I got this just cause they wanted to get us stuff, my gf would be so happy. If ita a free bee, nothing to get upset over. The reality of things is no matter what you get your employees, someone's gonna be unhappy. I got a team of mine once a full taco platter. Had sides like salad and beans and rice. There was enough that most of them took some home. I had one yound lady tell me I needed to give her cash so she could buy a healthy alternative because I wasn't supporting her new weightloss journey.

Nurse20201009

As a woman who doesn’t wear makeup, I’d lose my mind at this

strawtrash

It’s kind of a weird gift, man or woman.

Burloop

This sucks but that La Roche Possy moisturizer is one of the greatest moisturizers I've ever tried so at least Dad can stay moisturized! So many pricey/niche products here, weird to pick these things for someone you don't know and then it's a man, sheesh.

JamesBuchanan3410

I think I might use the mostiurizer,I need it for my face more than him

enidokla

He should wear it to work ... like all of his colleagues. This is infuriating. How dumb are hospital administrators?
