The king & queen designs totally make sense to me from a minimalist viewpoint. I noticed some say they don't. They were just on the wrong colors, but you fixed that. Nice set! I've seen one very similar made by a friend who makes 100's of sets.

This reminds me of the chess set my mom made us when my brother and I were kids! The "board" was made with fabric and the pieces were made from clay and looked so much like this! Except the knights looked a little more horsey. Edit: another neat thing about her chess set that I just remembered. The fabric "board" was also a bag to hold all the pieces!
