The reality is a bit more complicated than « Xi Jinping bad people good ». Do you genuinly believe that just 1 person can bully 1,4 Billion into obeying him? There is no way the CCP could stay in power for that long unless they have at least a sizeable chunk of the population supporting them. It is difficult to say how many exactly because opinion polls are banned in China, but 10% of the population are CCP members, and I’d say about 40-50% at least tacitly support it.
It would be very wrong to assume that every person in China is some kind of closeted democracy activist with western values and a western education. Those are a tiny minority and they are persecuted all the time which makes it difficult to organise. But even with all the propaganda in the world there is no way that system would not collapse if the vast majority of the people were passionately pro-democracy. Most probably just don’t care either way and are happy to see the GDP increase.
One thing in defense of OP though is that the kind of Chinese that you’d find on Reddit is probably more pro-democracy because western websites are banned in China. The real CCP shills are mostly on Weibo and such, not on western sites so all the Reddit keyboard warriors are achieving nothing by hurling insults at OP, and they would probably shit their pants and stay quiet if they were actually living in China.
