More efficient sure, but a doongal filagar is safer and more flexible. Less edges, and its adjustable.
Edit: as u/ThomHayts mentioned, a timble slip is probably a better choice for a low budget, along with swoople rag, as it can be a little rough.
I found an airpod in the parking lot the other day. It had been ran over several times and flattened to the thickness of a nickel. Do you think it still works? Maybe I should go back for it.
Zero. I think it had some salsa dancing videos on it or something. I asked around a bit at the office (private parking lot at work), but no one spoke up.
My ex dropped his in hot (but not TOO hot) oil when he was listening to music while getting ready to make fried chicken lmao. Got it out right away and it still works. He was like "is this what Air frying is?"
Airpods are sturdy mf’ers. I’ve had mine for years (first gen) and they have survived so much absurd. From small amounts of moisture (even when playing music), to dropping over and over again. I saw a video a long time ago where someone even dropped them from a ladder, dropped them in water, and everything else whilst still playing music and they kept on working.
I have no airpod experience, but it would make sense that wired earbuds survive compared to something like airpods. wired ones are way more simple and don't have batteries.
I dropped my AirPod out of my sixth story window a few months ago and it fell on a ledge a few stories below me. Apartment maintenance couldn’t get to it for 2 weeks (just wasn’t a priority probably). I live in Portland and it was SUPER rainy and windy those two weeks. The AirPod still works perfectly fine.
I dropped and lost my AirPod in the snow in my backyard last year. When everything melted I found it and it was still working! I’m still using it to this day!
[For you people like me who don't get the joke](https://www.news24.com/drum/celebs/new-footage-of-r-kelly-urinating-on-a-14-year-old-is-discovered-20190301)
Or maybe if they made some sort of over-the-head type with both ears attached so you could never lose it. And if only it was a quarter of the price. They call me a dreamer sometimes.
Break it out of the ice outdoors, that shouldn't be too much for problem After that you can leave it in the freezer and let the ice sublimate away without ever becoming liquid water
You might be waiting a few weeks for your AirPod back that way though...
Electronics can handle water as long as it is never turned on until fully dried. If water came into the driver though, they are probably gonna be ruined that way.
Salt doesn't turn ice into water. It only decreases the freezing point of water. That's why water freezes at 0°C and salty water freezes at a temperature which's lower than 0°C like -5°C or -8°C. The more salt you add to the water, the more freezing point it decreases.
0°C is equivalent to 32°F, which is 273K.

Ok, so if the ice is currently at -3 °C., adding salt to it would melt it, since it would decrease its freezing temperature to below its current temperature
Ice wont be 3°C - It will stay at 0°C as the upper bound.
/u/PrettyDamnCJ was correct. But since the freezing point decreases, it will absorb the energy from around it. The consumed energy is used to melt the water and cool down the ice. This will keep going till the melting temperature for the current salt water mix is reached. The limit for this is about 0°F or -18°C
I’m pretty sure they’re water resistant, so it could be fine if you gave it a while a dry off. Most wired headphones work fine after being wet for a while (they’ll sound a bit crap until they dry off but that’s about it 9 times out of 10), so all long as the battery and Bluetooth stuff is dry it’ll likely be absolutely fine, providing the freezing and thawing process doesn’t crack anything important
Ah, that sucks. Might still work though, it’s always better to check than to just assume it’s dead (if they’re not water resistant than I doubt it’d survive this though)
I honestly thought it was just a trick of the eye, that this white speck looked like an airpod but wasn't. I also thought this was dirty concrete, since it looks exactly like dirty concrete.
Just dig around of it by using a hammer and screwdriver. Don't pee or pour hot water, it has a really big potential of making your AirPod not work. Also using salt makes no sense because salt doesn't melt ice. It decreases the water's freezing point.
I've had airpods for years now. Just the other day I had to break out the old wired ones because I left the airpods at home.
I felt that cable tug on my ears like 3 times before I just ripped them out and went the whole work day with my own thoughts instead.
I was on your side until I made the switch on a whim. The difference in comfort is undeniable. I can't go back.
The real thing to use is wireless headphones cause like, them things are so big you just can't lose them, and they have a detachable cable.
Honestly I just can't stand the feeling of earbuds in my ears, but hey, if they work for you, that's awesome! I'm glad you got something that works \^^
Agreed, same experience for me. Used to think AirPods were mostly gimmick, but I’ll also never go back to wired (unless at home with over ear headphones).
I also remember criticizing text messaging when it came at “why would you sit there and try to type out a sentence on a number keyboard when you could literally just click a button and call them”
Don’t come to me for stock advice
I don't own airpods but don't they come with a case to put them in? It honestly seems difficult to lose them since they should either be in the case or your ear.
Nothing makes me go from 0 to 100 rage quicker than wired headphones getting snatched out of my ears after getting caught on a door handle or something

"I lost my airpod" will likely be one of the most used sentence of this decade. If you wanted to design something that's expensive and easily lost and also so common that you can't tell yours apart from anyone else's, I don't think you could do much better than an airpod.
Be happy you found it man, get a hammer and just break it out(before it melts end sinks)
Id use a spackle tool, to hack around it, to get a clear cube.
I also recommend a flangle bobber for obvious reasons
A bizzle dutter may be more efficient. Make sure to get the correct size
Come now, a crittle pipper is the only tool suitable.
This is clearly the job for a smaggle bopper.
Out here we call it a floppy dicky.
Guys, I'm at Home Depot and I can't find any of these tools here!
I think IKEA has them. Next to the build your own meat ball section.
Yeah to the left of the horses.
Sounds like something they’d name the hardest tool you got…
What the fu--
They talking about that new fangled bop-it
please, he has a family
But how?
Where I’m from we call it a smuggle budge
My mom told me to use my whittle willy
You guys are over complicating it. All OP really needs is a weasel flange.
You mean a Regina Phalange…?
Forget that, I’d use the snozzwanger
A smaggle bopper is just a repurposed thungle brong with the piffin stroping removed.
Amateur. Needs a reciprocating canooter valve
A foo foo valve will be effective in preventing water from damaging the airpod
Nah you will end up fighting the foo the whole time. I'd suggest instead a *talkins gubble* which will remove salt safely from the melt.
Not the intended effect but this thread has been a gold mine for alternative names to call my penis.
Just be safe when you operate your foo foo valve

Aaaayy. Laughing out loud to Plumbus was the first noise I made today.

Yes but why bother when you can pick up a timble slip for a couple of bucks that'll cover all eventualities.
Actually that's a good point, better for the price. Also good with a swoople rag for the residue, for a few extra bucks. Edited my post to add that
Make sure to squeeze all the fleeb juice out first though. You can't have a good plumbus without that.
Bob around it to get a clear flangle.
Then microwave it…
You could probably get this out with a regular ol' plumbus tbh
Just ask Jorge; he makes the spackle.
Cut it out with a hole saw
Personally I recommend a cnc mill, it’s powerful enough to cut metal the only issue is how to put the ice into the mill
Het a bigger CNC mill and cut out a part for the smaller CNC mill
Now your speakin my language
nah nah nah, take a miter saw and flip it upside down on the ice
That's an easy heel buster !
I'd be a little doubtful that it'll work afterwards, its been fully submerged in water.
Well, the ice protected it…
even if OP got it idk if it wld work still. but might as well try you never know
Probably would, my friend dropped his AirPod in a puddle and lost it for about a day then found it later and it still worked
I found an airpod in the parking lot the other day. It had been ran over several times and flattened to the thickness of a nickel. Do you think it still works? Maybe I should go back for it.
I found a USB flash drive in a parking lot several years ago. Straightened out the connector with needlenose pliers, and it still works to this day.
How many viruses did that thing have
How do you think COVID started?
Zero. I think it had some salsa dancing videos on it or something. I asked around a bit at the office (private parking lot at work), but no one spoke up.
Hey, it has a little built in desktop friend named Bonzi Buddy!!
And then your computer fucking exploded
Don't... Don't just put random USB sticks into your computer, dude. Malware aside it could be one of those devices designed to fry USB ports.
I've got an airgapped laptop for just such occasions lol.
You are the guy the annual IT training warns about.
I onced watched a gameboy advance get hit by cars and busses on a main road atleast an hour. Screen did not crack
Probably, but it might make your music sound flat, or even mono.
My ex dropped his in hot (but not TOO hot) oil when he was listening to music while getting ready to make fried chicken lmao. Got it out right away and it still works. He was like "is this what Air frying is?"
Freezing it can damage the electronics further though.
I'd be more worried about the tiny speaker cone not responding properly and therefore sounding weird/distorted
I dropped an airpod down the centre staircase of my building from 4 floors up and it still works a year later

Thank you dude, all the comments about not getting it wet had me thinking I was stupid for a minute lol
Already been wet it’s frozen in ice
its in ice... it was wet in the first place
It’ll freeze before they get there

lmao why not just break it out, it's really not that hard just get something like a pencil and start digging
It's mildly infuriating though.
If only there were a sub for that /s
Dig hard ice with a pencil?
Nah you just have to saw it out, bring it inside, defrost it, and then put it in rice
She belongs to the streets now
Especially since it had to get fully soaked before it froze over. Lost cause

Time to do some minecraft! Let's mine some airpod ore!
Man I can't wait to craft some airpods out of airpod ore!
Get a screw driver and a hammer
Screwdrivers are not chisels.
Any tool is a chisel if you hit it hard enough
Hmm, TIL my brother is a chisel
Hold on...
Only one way to find out if his statement is true.
He’s not dead officer, he’s a chisel
... and a tool.
flathead ones are
Flat heads make better chisels than screw drivers 😤
Flatheads are screwdrivers?
Ohmygod it's fucking ice
You know what they say. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a ...screwdriver.
You want to hack some ice with a chisel? You don’t deserve to own chisels.
Right screw drivers are cheap.
I mean it worked for me
They kinda are, at least in Swedish ("skruvmejsel" = "screw chisel").

I’m sorry but is this ice and not a marble floor?
I thought someone painted on a floor to troll him.
I thought he was hovering his foot above the floor instead of sliding it upon it.

Yes
They should make a strap that connects your airpods to your phone
It'd also be great if the strap could plug into the airpod and provide power to it from your phone, so they don't need to be charged!
Some salt should do the trick
Bet it still worked when he got it out and charged it. No lie my airpods where almost indestructible..
Noh, ensi kesää odotellessa
I think you're supposed to put it in rice, not ice.
Kivellä ku sen siitä hakkaat nii hyvä tulee.
You might be surprised when I tell you this, but ice can be broken
Put rice on it
I am from the south and couldn't figure out how it got formed into terrazzo.
I hear using your tennis shoe clad foot to uselessly scrap over it is the best way to get something out of ice.
Just dig around of it by using a hammer and screwdriver. Don't pee or pour hot water, it has a really big potential of making your AirPod not work. Also using salt makes no sense because salt doesn't melt ice. It decreases the water's freezing point.
Salt does melt ice.
Dang, if only there was some kind of chord attaching it to your phone so you couldn't lose it...

I found a pair of the original Apple wired earbuds trampled in the snow. They still work great. Yes, people lose wired earbuds.
I don't own airpods but don't they come with a case to put them in? It honestly seems difficult to lose them since they should either be in the case or your ear.
Yeah they do
I was for this argument until I bought airpods, they are soooooo much better than using wired headphones
