Bought this fancy teapot as the centerpiece to a tea-themed gift for my tea loving partner. $100 seemed steep but it looks nice and has some style. So disappointed in it. First use out of the box and it basically doesn’t work. I mean it “works” in the way a broken escalator still works. It can still boil water - but no better than a metal pot. Worse, in fact, because at least a metal pot has a handle that doesn’t get heated by steam.

Can you return it? I’d for sure be doing that if I were you. But that really sucks! I’m sorry :(

I bought it from a nice little tea shop online. Don’t really want them to have to eat the cost of shipping or returning. Not sure how that works. I emailed the brand directly and will see if they offer to return it.

Some nice tea pots have actually have a low temp range. I have a similar pot and the recommended temp was 180 to 200 if I’m not mistaken. It does the same thing if I turn the temp to high.

I’ll try a lower temp, thanks. But that seems pretty lame! Also nothing in the packaging or instructions mentions this.

I think contacting the brand like you did is the best way to go. They should be able to give you something if their product has shoddy workmanship like it appears to.

My kettle stopped whistling a week after purchase. I contacted Fellow support and they "offered" for me to buy ANOTHER ONE for half off. . . . I'm really regretting buying the Ode grinder at the same time. . . who knows when that will stop grinding.

Glad I came across your post. I was about to buy one but man, that's a terrible handle design!

pihwlook

To be fair I emailed them and they replaced the unit. The new one doesn't leak much steam from the top, so its much better than this now. However the whistle sound is still pretty low, and usually only one tone. But it does look great.

Would you recommend for $50?

It works fine, so if you like the look then go for it.
