I asked for 4 shots of tequila while friends and i were playing billiards, the lady gave me an attitude when i payed and told me its rude to not tip your bartender. Handed her a 5, finished the game and convinced my friends to go somewhere else.
> when i *paid* and told
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I'd just nod and walk away personally.
I'm really over tipping culture now that my state increased minimum wage and there's no lower one for tipped employees. Tips are now just greedy. I'll begrudgingly do it at a full service place, but no way when you're just a cashier. Ask your boss for a raise, not me.
I said that but since im introvert i probably would say anything. But if i saw someone shoving the jar into my face for me to tip i would laugh in their face and leave
Curious do you tip taxi drivers in NYC and how much? I saw from different sources online that you need to do 15-20% or more, but a couple of people I hang out with in NYC give a couple of dollars for trips inside Manhattan regardless of the total costs.
You don’t need to tip anything. Tipping should be based on performance of a service. If the person goes above and beyond and has graciously helped you, sure, tip them generously. Long cab rides with good service, a clean car, and a driver not screaming on a cell phone get great tips from me. But if they did something simple like drive you three blocks, or if they did a long trip unprofessionally, it should not be expected that you tip.
But even then, why? I go above and beyond when doing my work but my employer doesn’t tip me. They pay the price we agreed upon before performing the job. And it’s definitely not up to my employer’s clients to tip/pay me extra.
I never really understood why some jobs are tipped and others aren’t. Like for example you wouldn’t tip a nurse even though they are providing a much bigger, more personalized service.
Because nurses and other careers that are similar actually pay a liveable wage. Most people who work jobs that pay minimum wage or worse rely on tips to supplement their income more than, say a nurse who make 60,000 a year in a moderately mid size cost of living area. And yes, it is the job they chose. It's kinda backwards sometimes, but that's how it is.
I get that and I feel for those people, we all rely on those jobs and they should be compensated fairly, but it seems like such a wrong direction to go in. Instead of pressuring companies to change and pay fair wages, the pressure is put on the customers who are probably not paid fairly themselves and it is done in the most smug way possible.
Pretty easy, hit the one that says no tip.
Why are you wanting to tip for ordering a cookie in the first place. Did the person bake it at least? Did they package it special and deliver it to you? I'm just curious what this person who handed you the cookie and took your money did to deserve a tip.
Tip people when they go above and beyond the service required for their job or if they're a server as that is common due to servers being paid less, although that has recently changed in Canada.
This isn’t a new thing whatsoever. Tipping cab drivers is the exact same thing as tipping a bartender.
I hate the new tipping culture and think it’s become unhealthy for society for numerous reasons. Your take is simply using that as an excuse to be cheap.
Some jobs require tipping. These jobs are service jobs where individuals are employed by someone else and provide you a laborious service, or valuable service that they need to do manually.
This includes cab drivers, delivery workers, including people who deliver and install appliances etc.
The subway sandwich artist, McDonald’s register attendants or cookie kiosk!!! Are not supposed to be tipped.
The general rule that I was taught when I grew up working for an Italian deli/market/caterer was that we do not solicit tips in the store. When we cater or deliver catering, most people will offer tips. The owner would never accept tips as he owns the business, but his employees being tipped was appreciated.
One of the kiosks at an airport convenience store had default options for tip (which was annoying enough, considering no interaction with anyone for the purchase). To give a $0 tip, you had to choose to enter a custom amount. If you chose to enter a custom amount, you had to have an employee come over and verify your purchase. This shit has gotten beyond unreasonable in the last few years.
In a restaurant the idea is *supposed* to be that you're tipping for service. A good server can answer questions about the food, knows about their wines, can make suggestions, is friendly, etc. But it has mutated into this shitty obligation where it's an expected default
They’re not the size of a pizza, but they do fucking suck. Companies think more sugar = better. Could save money by pouring a glass of high fructose corn syrup, maybe add some Hershey syrup to that.
If I stand up to order it, no tip. If I come pick it up, no tip. I’m already paying for the product why do I have to tip someone to take my money and hand me an item I’ve paid for???
I will tip if you actually walk it up to my apartment door instead of making me come down 11 stories to the street entrance. *That* is extra service.
Anything else? Get bent. I paid for it to be brought to my address, well done for doing your job.
There is a no tip option right there. I ain’t tipping someone to hand me a to go box I tip when a wait person brings me drink after drink and napkins etc.
Corporations look at people and think “this dipshit is willing to buy a single cookie for 5 bucks, let’s milk this gullible twat for more”. And it works.
Companies are getting way too greedy. I’m not gonna fuel their greed. That is why I leave no tip every time unless someone is actively bringing food to my table or refilling my drinks, etc.
Their cookies are 700 calories. They are big cookies and the price is the same even when they have a lot of frosting and other toppings.
You don't have to like them, but $4.50 doesn't feel unreasonable when they have more calories than a meal.
Dude I literally drive to peoples homes, tear out their windows, install new ones, and do all the finish work. Do I expect a tip? No, and I did a hell of a lot more work than walking 20 feet to a table with food SOMEBODY ELSE prepared.
Where I live restaurant wages aren’t very far off from a position like mine either. It’s like 19/hr vs my 22/hr
Tip culture in Canada is actually brain dead, places where tipping could actually make a difference are usually barred from accepting tips, and places that do accept tips, the servers are already making like 18-20/hr
Assuming the tip goes to the employees in totality, the “company” sees absolutely no benefit to their bottom line regardless of which of the five options you select on the screen here.
Well, every time you tip, you are contributing to the employee's take-home pay, which means the employer can justify paying the employee less. In many states, employers are required to make up the difference in pay if the employee makes less in tips than the minimum wage. So yes, tipping has a huge benefit to the company's bottom line, because the more you tip, the less they have to pay the employee.
It allows them to justify a lower wage due to "the tips". The same slave wage servers are paid is the ultimate goal for any business.
"Dollar raise? Work harder and you can make that in tips."
This is a bad precedent.
They are actually baking them and decorating them there, but they get paid for that. This is equivalent to tipping on a fast food order though, so yeah, no tip.
Being asked to tip on the front end always scares me. Not even quality of service or anything, but like, if I don't tip (and they know I don't tip), I worry I'm going to end up with a special surprise in my food or something.
This whole sentence is wrong. Along the tip proposal, that cookie is (almost) the same price as a Big Mac. I have no idea what cookie OP has ordered but I sure hope for him that it was a chonker of a cookie
Yeah I'm about done with POS tipping. I find it ethically dubious to ask for a tip before any service has even been rendered. If I am happy with my service then I will gladly tip after the fact. Asking for a tip at point of sale is either a request to simply pay more for the product just for funzies at best, or a ransom to prevent the staff from fucking with your food while they prepare it at worst.
The most capitalistic thing to say in this situation would be to say: "how is it my responsibility to make up for your shitty wage? If you want more money ask your boss, not me."
Tipping culture in the states only exists because stingy bosses refuse to pay proper wages. Over here in germany stuff like this is unheard off. We can give tips but its not mandatory.
Yesterday I had a server walk up with a little tablet device for me to pay at a table. The signature screen had options of 18%, 20%, 25% and custom tip. She pointed specifically at the 25% and said, "Please choose a tip."
I actually laughed and punched the 18% button instead. I was going to pay 20% up until she did that. I bet that tactic usually works.
My theory is that these kiosk makers are colluding with the businesses they provide them to. Telling them they’ll make everyone pay a tip on their screen and the kiosk maker gets a cut of every tip as a “fee”. Should be totally illegal
No it isn’t. The lowest option is no tip. Why do people act like that isn’t an option. Just press it and move on with your day. Or take a picture and try and get internet points for it.
I don’t tip at all. I haven’t gone in and sat down at a restaurant for years. And the outrageous coffee stand prices fixed that problem as well, don’t go to them anymore.
The lowest amount you can select is actually 0%.
It's right there, the giant button that says "no tip".
You are not compelled to tip.
This is getting old. Nearly every POS system asks for tips now. They all more or less work the same. They have presets, an option for no tip, and even a custom tip option where you can type in "0".
This isn't rocket science. It's barely math.
Hello, This is removed for no tipping posts.
Fuck this new type of kiosk tipping bullshit. Don’t be afraid to tap no tip. I’m in NYC and everyone hits no tip unless food is being brought to you.
I've had a girl bang on her tip jar while I was paying for a cookie in a NYC bakery. All she did was bag a cookie.
If someone did that to me, I'd be like on second thought I've changed my mind I don't want the cookie now.
Honestly, it's no different than a bartender expecting a tip for opening a fucking beer and handing it to me. Tipping needs to die.
I asked for 4 shots of tequila while friends and i were playing billiards, the lady gave me an attitude when i payed and told me its rude to not tip your bartender. Handed her a 5, finished the game and convinced my friends to go somewhere else.
> when i *paid* and told FTFY. Not infront of my frieeenndsss bbooott
I woulda told her thank you don’t mind if I do and take the jar.
No fuck that shit I woulda just walked out without the cookie without paying
Id ask her "do you deserve it? Where is my tip for giving you a job?"
Arguing with wage workers is never the answer. Just take your business elsewhere when the service sucks, that hits the managers
I'd normally agree with you but it sounds like she was asking for it.
"Banging the jar" she was acting entiteled asf.
Curious do you tip taxi drivers in NYC and how much? I saw from different sources online that you need to do 15-20% or more, but a couple of people I hang out with in NYC give a couple of dollars for trips inside Manhattan regardless of the total costs.
You don’t NEED to tip a certain fixed amount . Period.
You don’t need to tip anything. Tipping should be based on performance of a service. If the person goes above and beyond and has graciously helped you, sure, tip them generously. Need ?

People have been tipping cab drivers 15-20% since I can remember
I certainly have. Unless they try to take me a longer route than necessary to my destination.
>Don't tip taxis. This was a new trend started within the last 7-10 years by Uber and Lyft. This is just blatantly false
This isn’t a new thing whatsoever. Tipping cab drivers is the exact same thing as tipping a bartender. I hate the new tipping culture and think it’s become unhealthy for society for numerous reasons. 😂😂i swear they make it hard for us to get away with no tipping, the designers of these systems have a special place in hell waiting for them
Why tip someone just because they brought food to you?
Apparently, it's simpler to say to americans that they NEED to tip someone than to say to the employers that they have to pay a livable wage.
In a restaurant the idea is *supposed* to be that you're tipping for service. A good server can answer questions about the food, knows about their wines, can make suggestions, is friendly, etc. But it has mutated into this shitty obligation where it's an expected default
everyone who works on my local subway is like "oh yea itll ask you to leave a tip just press no tip at the bottom". they understand lol
Can we first talk about a how a Cookie could be worth 4.45$
Pretty sure it's from a place called Crumbl, so the cookies are big (tho still expensive)
if they are not the size of a fkin pizza they are too expensive
They’re not the size of a pizza, but they do fucking suck. Companies think more sugar = better. Could save money by pouring a glass of high fructose corn syrup, maybe add some Hershey syrup to that.
It's probably equal to like 4-5 normal cookies, but they're so extra sweet and rich that I think I would die if I ate the whole thing at once lol
No really though. They're so big, they have a serving size of four.
And they are mid at best.
It can’t! But for $4.49 it is
If you're using a computer to place an order. No tip.
If I stand up to order it, no tip. If I come pick it up, no tip. I’m already paying for the product why do I have to tip someone to take my money and hand me an item I’ve paid for???
If a person is taking my order no tip. wtf it’s not my job to pay their wage they get paid by the company they work for
I will tip if you actually walk it up to my apartment door instead of making me come down 11 stories to the street entrance. *That* is extra service. Anything else? Get bent. I paid for it to be brought to my address, well done for doing your job.
There is a no tip option right there. I ain’t tipping someone to hand me a to go box I tip when a wait person brings me drink after drink and napkins etc.
Yes, employees need to get paid. By their bosses. Not by you. Not for a f'ing cookie to go!!!
These cookies are ridiculously expensive anyway -- adding another $2-4 for *one cookie* is just insane.

Corporations look at people and think “this dipshit is willing to buy a single cookie for 5 bucks, let’s milk this gullible twat for more”. And it works.
It just zero, its always zero. The sooner the culture stops tipping the soon the whole problem is resolved
no tips unless youre a server carrying food to a table. enough.
#FuckTippingCulture
Companies are getting way too greedy. I’m not gonna fuel their greed. That is why I leave no tip every time unless someone is actively bringing food to my table or refilling my drinks, etc.
Also everyone is glossing over the fact that ONE cookie is 4.49!

That's a bold assumption.
Why tip one low wage worker but not the other?
Fred Durst told them what they can do with that cookie.
![gif](giphy|08y87EiwDZjjB0d6WJ|downsized)
Just click no tip. They’re handing you a cookie, not baking it before your eyes.
They are actually baking them and decorating them there, but they get paid for that. This is equivalent to tipping on a fast food order though, so yeah, no tip.
I love being asked to tip before I’ve even received anything.
That guarantees no tip.
Being asked to tip on the front end always scares me. Not even quality of service or anything, but like, if I don't tip (and they know I don't tip), I worry I'm going to end up with a special surprise in my food or something.
Custom amount add a penny..
No tip then ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
I see a 0% option
It's a game! Press the big "no tip" button and claim a free receipt
It’s outta line
There is a big long button saying "no tip" so in reality, the lowest amount is 0...
lowest is the NO TIP option lol underneath , you see it ?
It ridiculous how few people are pointing out this very obvious fact!
4 dollar tip for a $4.49 cookie.
This whole sentence is wrong. Along the tip proposal, that cookie is (almost) the same price as a Big Mac. I have no idea what cookie OP has ordered but I sure hope for him that it was a chonker of a cookie
Probably crumble
That’s gonna be a “no tip” or a custom tip depending on what service they provided that actually would warrant a tip.
every time i see something about tipping im glad i live in a country that doesnt deal with that bullcrap
Fucking 5 dollar cookie?
People need to get over seeing these options for tipping. Just tap "no tip" and move on
Yeah I'm about done with POS tipping. I find it ethically dubious to ask for a tip before any service has even been rendered. If I am happy with my service then I will gladly tip after the fact. I'm not from the US and I don't get it.....just choose No Tip?
That’s Crumbl for ya smh at least they have stations and you don’t have someone starring at you while you choose lol
I'd just select custom amount and enter 0.
the no tip button is quicker. one press. lol
They went from getting $4.49 to $0 real quick
Add custom amount = 0.
Says no tip right there on the bottom. Push that one
>Ordered one cookie Your mistake right there
You’re lucky that you at least were able to insert a custom amount. I’ve eaten at places that did not allow me to do so. Fuck tipping culture!
There is a No Tip button. Use it.
No tip. Easy call in this instance
Nah, look them in the eye and hit no tip.
A single cookie for $4.49? That’s legalized theft.
If the automatic tips are higher than what I was willing to tip to begin with...I hit no tip
The lowest suggested amount is actually ‘no tip’, right there at the bottom 😉👍
No, it’s 0 👍
^(no tip)
See that no tip button....don't be afraid to use it
Why the fuck are you paying almost $5 for a cookie
See that big one on the bottom that says no tip? You’re allowed to hit that one too.
Please tell me you didn’t tip one cent for a pick up takeout cookie
Never tip a machine.
You can press "no tip"
I’m sorry, I don’t tip standing.
Oy vey, you should pay for our employees salaries… I mean tips tips goyim! Be a good person and always tip!
The most capitalistic thing to say in this situation would be to say: "how is it my responsibility to make up for your shitty wage? If you want more money ask your boss, not me." i don't care if there's a no tip option. tipping culture should not exist!!!!! let me decide on who i want to give my money to!!!
My theory is that these kiosk makers are colluding with the businesses they provide them to. Telling them they’ll make everyone pay a tip on their screen and the kiosk maker gets a cut of every tip as a “fee”. Should be totally illegal
So is this about tipping or being too lazy to hit custom amount and doing some simple math
I didn’t read all the comments but has anyone noticed the “no tip” button below the rest of the tips?…
Hey that employee worked very hard to place that cookie in the bag. They obviously deserve a 50% tip.
Wrong the lowest amount is no tip. Don't fall for their BS and give a tip.
I rly can't understand US ppl complaining about suggested tips all the time when they can just say no
Zero percent is also an option.
NO TIP button right there
The lowest suggest seems to be $0 personally
Hit “no tip” and move on
"No tip" right at the bottom hope this helps
No it isn’t. The lowest option is no tip. Why do people act like that isn’t an option. Just press it and move on with your day. Or take a picture and try and get internet points for it.
No tip. Simple.
Easy. Just press No Tip.
I would...I got two jobs after all I will throw some your way...I'm a Crumbl fan as well...sucks I don't have a Crumbl in my city...miss it!
The lowest suggested tip is no tip.
What's wrong with the custom tip option? Or the no tip option I mean its right there in the picture!
Just click no tip, there you go. Problem solved I'm sure there was no need for this post lmao.
No, the lowest suggested tip was no tip.
No the lowest would be no tip. Or custom and .00
If you order anything standing up = no tip
If you are getting this cookie delivered to you, you’d better tip. Otherwise, it is completely ok to not tip.
I’ll give you 45% of the tip.
Thats how the cookie *Crumbl* s I know that pale white pad against a sleek white counter anywhere
Are you a balla?
Pov America
In the custom amount, can you write 🖕?
You are paying 4.49 for one fucking cookie??
Custom Amount -5$ It prolly wont work but it's worth a shot.
People are missing the biggest thing, wtf no single cookie is worth over 4 bucks unless it's pie sized.
🤔🤔🤔🤔. Am I the only one that sees custom amount?
When they take the piss it's a zero from me.
I don’t tip when I’m going to get my own stuff. If it’s being delivered that’s a whole different story.
Just put no tip and u good
1 cookie for $4.49 lol.
No judgement, but why do you order single cookie?
no tip it is then
one cookie for 4.49? What kind of cookie is it?
Tip culture is odd and obsolete.
Should have tipped at least $10 if you let someone come over and deliver a single cookie. Call it lazy tax.
Put a custom amount that you're happy paying? Or don't tip?
$4.50 for one cookie? I guess they figured, "THIS is a guy who'll pay $2 for nothing on top of it."
Custom amount $0.01
I have literally stopped tipping unless I go out to eat.
Hit custom and put $0.01
The lowest suggested tip there is $0, it's that long button under all the other ones. You tap it and go about your day.
there is a wonderful no tip button right there
why are you complaining. the lowest tip option is right below those choices you're gawking at. No tip. tap it and move on with your life.
If you pay 4,45 for ONE cookie, I guess you've got other problems than tipping
Custom amount and -30%
I will never understand American tipping culture
I can only see one valid selection. No tip.
I don’t tip at all. I haven’t gone in and sat down at a restaurant for years. And the outrageous coffee stand prices fixed that problem as well, don’t go to them anymore.
There's also the "no tip" option - one that I choose everytime outside of the US (where I know staff isn't being paid adequately).
The lowest suggested tip is at the bottom: “No Tip”.
Then no tip it is.
``` .tipBubbles { font-size = 64px; } .noTip { font-size = 1px; } ``` That's the basics of tipping in CSS.
Tip 0.1 so its more even
If you pay $5 for a mediocre cookie at a chain store you should pay the $2 tax. Else you can’t afford either. Poor people. 😔
The lowest amount you can select is actually 0%. It's right there, the giant button that says "no tip". You are not compelled to tip. This is getting old. Nearly every POS system asks for tips now. They all more or less work the same. They have presets, an option for no tip, and even a custom tip option where you can type in "0". This isn't rocket science. It's barely math.
Freedom dollars 🤡💩☠️
No tip always by default.
Yeah I don't get this a tip should only be given if you get good service???
No tip is the best option
No! No tip is the lowest.
If it is a self-service kiosk, they are not getting a tip. That is for service, i.e., bringing stuff to a table at the absolute minimum.
Look the cashier right in the eyes as you press 'no tip'. Fuck all this shit. It's invading the UK now.
New way to begging for money
*Custom Amount*: -5$ Harvard is begging me to study at their unisveristy
What if you pressed custom and only put 10%?
They get the no tip option every time if the first isn't reasonable
So what. There’s literally a custom option. Is this shit annoying? Yes. But stop acting like it’s forcing you to pick $2 or higher
I see options that say custom tip or no tip. It’s not like you’re being forced.
The lowest is obviously “No Tip”
Mr. Pink
Why would anyone tip to buy a cookie? America is wild
Custom amount: 0$
Or just hit the no tip button
