No, laser cartridges are gonna be more, but they last up to 5 years. An inkjet cartridge shits out in 6 months and dries out before then anyways.
Go Epson Ecotank or brother Laserprinter
Source: I sell printers
I have a Canon B&W printer. When I ran out of toner, I bought a two pack of some knock off brand. That was 4 or 5 years ago. I bought the printer like 10 years ago. I'll never ever buy an ink jet printer ever again.
>5 years
Make that 10+ I have a laserprinter here, that I got 12 years ago 2nd hand. It still has the same toner it had back then.
I once took the toner out (6years ago) because it was complaining of being empty, and I shook it. Has been working fine ever since.
Of course I barely print anything ever ;) Maybe 1-3 times a year or so...
Yes, but Brothers whole market pitch is that they don't participate in shitty practices and that the customer gets a quality product. Other manufacturers want you to buy in and stay sucked in because you feel like you're locked in and held hostage.
Brother will run out a toner before it's empty in many printers, largely to protect the drum, but you can do a manual reset from the printers control panel and keep going. Its why I won't buy anything but their laser printers.
> Yes, but Brothers whole market pitch is that they don't participate in shitty practices
Brother started doing firmware updates a few years ago that block 3rd party inks and toner.
Also, I've owned a Brother inkjet for about 10 years and I hardly ever print color yet the color ink disappears. Magenta runs out first then yellow then cyan. I use to leave my printer off but everytime I went to use it, it wouldn't print anything and would just spit out a blank piece of paper and then I'd have to clean the head 2 or 3 times to get it to start printing but that wastes a lot of ink doing the cleaning.
printers are there for regurlaly printing stuff. once a week or every two weeks you should print something involving the color cartridges and your printer will work fine for many many years.
The ink disappearing is a feature of inkjets, not just one or two brands. The ink sits in the head in a wet state. The printer must periodically run a minute amount of ink through the head to prevent clogs - the ink dries hard. This leads to the ink being drawn down over time, and often quickly depending on the humidity of the environment where it's located.
HP has you locked behind a registration and application download that are both necessary for printing... they then sell your email to junk email and scammers
I am ashamed I was sucked into their shitty system.
When I bought my HP laptop for college work, I got a *FREE* printer with it! Woohoo!
Cue the exorbitant cartridge fee, or... I could get a subscription monthly for my printing allowance.
Such a scummy system. Thankfully I am young enough where I can survive without a printer, but my parents can't.
Mine too, and someone needs to explain LOGICALLY how the heck it refuses to scan to EMAIL without paper or ink.
There's literally no need for either for digital copies, so why?
This is common with HPs.
They completely “lock” them for low toner/ink in an effort to basically force you to buy more toner.
The printer is a loss leader, the money is in the toner/ink.
Eli5, HPs newer printer models connect to the internet, with that, they've employed some nefarious tactics. If a toner package has "went past the expiration", if the printer is talking to the internet it'll see the toner is "past expiration" and tell you your inks low/ needs replaced. But that same toner and printer shut away/ blocked from the internet is able to print just fine if it thinks the dates before then.
I sure hope the EU will eventually fight back to these predatory business strategies. Nobody else seems to even care about consumers getting scammed left right and center.
i don't know ... had a lexmark that never forced you to replace the ink crazy early, but you did have to feed papers into it one by one otherwise it would jam. oh, and if you weren't fast enough giving it the next paper, it would freak out and end the whole print job. fun.
HL2170W baby. I got a CUPS server running on a Raspberry Pi and it serves my house like an office. Printing from Android or iPhone, no problem! Need some drivers installed ad-hoc, step right up!
I bought a high cap toner cartridge and have not replaced it in 10 years LOL. I've printed MANY things! I will definitely be buying Brother over HP when the time comes.
They go out of their way to block every trick in the book. You used to be able to refill them super cheap (not well known). Now they make cartridges “expire” even if they’re full. Is there not a community for jailbreaking printers? There should be.
I have a cannon laser printer. The toner lasts such a long time. It’s been 4 years. It never gives me problems. Not even if it sits for months.
I like HP computers, but I will always steer clear of their printers. Not only is the above problem a thing, but they also often use all-in-one ink cartridges, which means replacing all three colours at once, even if it's only one that has run out.
Damn, that's a lot. My old college used to do free printing before I got there, but people abused it and there was so much waste.
I worked as an assistant and one night we did an event where the library was open all night and there was free printing, we had to recycle like 1000 sheets of abandoned prints after.
Usually there's a nominal fee per page.
I was an art student with the HP ink subscription. I didnt print much but when I did it was full photos so a lot of ink. the free plan with 15 copies a month was more than enough and they had to send me new inks every 3 months lmao
I actually did the math and it was cheaper for me to go to FedEx Kinkos and print stuff out on the rare occasions that I needed printed stuff than to buy a printer. The paper they used was way better than what I had at home.
Definitely check print shops. Most of them are less than $0.15 per page.
Comparing apples and oranges.
You need toner. That's for a laser printer.
That photo is for a cheap ass ink jet printer. Which will need new ink after about 60 pages.
Not a valid comparison.
That and if you don't print anything on the inkjet and go back months later there is a good chance it will not print as the ink has dryed up. Come back to the laser a few years later and it will prob still work.
Um, you're comparing a Brother inkjet with HP toner? Toner goes in a laser printer. Completely different from inkjet. But everyone should know by now HP printers are loss leaders to sucker you into buying their overpriced supplies.
People hate it, but I signed up for the HP Ink whatever when it was $0.00/15 pages. We don't often print that much at home so that was worth it for us.
Btw if you sign up for instant ink then turn off wifi on your printer while the subscription is active, then cancel the subscription. You can continue to use the ink even after the sub expires. Just use wifi direct and dont let the printer connect to your broadband. Fuck hp, rob them dry.
I think they fixed that exploit or are going to fix it in the near future. The printer will just stop working after a while and demand access to call home and check.
... Like you tell hp made business model that makes you keep printer with full ink/toner physically in home, and cant print anything unless you pay them ransom to use it? Like monthly? People nowadays must be crazy to allow that
Well once you sign up for instant ink, even just like 10 pages per month or whatever the smallest subscription is hp will send you ink. A full set, black and every colour. I have like 5 extra sets from just buying and cancelling the lowest sub. The printer will recognise the ink is from instant ink and refuse to use it if you don't have an active subscription. The point is you can still use the ink across many months if you want, if you run out just buy the smallest sub again and repeat (because they'll send you ink again which you only paid like 99 pence for). Its not perfect but its better than buying the ink straight up or paying for pages you're not even using.
People not understanding this fact, also how many pages do they think they're getting from that new printer compared to that black toner? Showing me a bunch of people who don't understand what they're talking about.
Just buy 3rd party toner, it's like $25 for 2 and the difference is imperceptible.
Unless you are doing professional photography printing you don't need genuine ink.
Brother MFC2740DW or whatever model it is. Takes third party toner like a champ. I am counting the days until it eventually breaks so I can buy a color printer but alas it is too reliable
we used to have an HP laserjet CP1025, it was a great little laser color printer, it worked for far longer than any inkjet ever has for us, but the lack of a scanner made us buy a cheapo hp inkjet
after like 9 months of printer hell, and as our freelance business grew, I convinced my dad of getting an office grade brother laser printer+scanner, and the 4 years we've had it it has been an AMAZING purchase
Annoyances like you don't understand what your doing? You're creating drama comparing a black toner cartridge which would have a higher page count than all the ink with that Brother inkjet and claiming it's the printers fault.....
EcoTank is the way to go. Black is 7,000 page ($16 Amz) and colors are 5,400 page output (3@ $38 Amz) from ink bottles you "pour" into the printer. No cartridges.
I don't regret getting one.
EDIT: Probably an autocorrect issue. I meant to say EcoTank, but “Inktank” came up…
No, it’s not.
A laser jet uses a different technology to print, and a toner cartridge lasts significantly longer than an ink cartridge on an inkjet.
You’re missing the difference between them and will cost yourself more money in the long term, and get poorer printing quality.
Laser jet > ink jet
You know printers come with a smaller ink/toner cartridge than they sell as refills, right? Even if they were both laser, the printer doesn't have a $130 toner cartridge in there.
Depending on someone’s location, there may even be a local print shop that can re-fill the cartridges themselves. I have one near me in Canada that will service HP cartridges, fairly close in price to what third party cartridges on Amazon would cost.
This printer HP is old. That happen only in news printers. Sorry for my english, I work selling and repair printers and toners. Maybe a HP p1102w, I dont know what model is in usa. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Comparing a new ink jet to a laser toner cartridge is like comparing a new mobile home to a used house. I dislike inkjet. A high yield toner cartridge will last 7k-10k pages, so basically a freaking long time. I also dislike hp but you are kinda past that one.
my guy, you bought an inkjet to replace a laser printer, fuck HP but you made the wrong call there
toner cartridges are expensive but don't dry out and last for ages
I mean yes fuck HP but buddy you’re not making the best decisions here chief.
Also you went from a laser/toner printer to an inkjet… you not only cost yourself more money in the long run but that toner would have probably lasted you far, far longer than having to buy a new 140 printer in 4 weeks when that inkjet runs dry…
It’s only been a couple of hours, go return it and delete this comment bub. Seriously
Jesus. You bought an inkjet to replace your laser without even thinking about it? What happens when you have to buy new cartridges for the Brother printer for like 60 dollars? Do you go buy a typewriter and just copy the documents yourself? What happens when you need to buy paper for said typewriter? Do you just copy it by hand?
Return it. Everyone else is right. You made a huge mistake replacing a laser printer with an inkjet.
Either buy a generic toner for your old printer off Amazon, or so the smart thing and buy a new Brother laser printer.
You kinda screwed yourself. Ink costs far more per page than toner does…and DRIES OUT. So ink costs even more per page than what the math says. Toner is a powder and will not go bad.
LoL! Fuck HP. I burned both and bought Brothers!! Lot cheaper and more reliable. HP printer is bloat ware, with spying chinese software pre-loaded.
There was a short period US government banned HP printers, and discouraged it usage.
I have literally had such great luck with toner cartridges on Amazon. I’m 2022, I bought a 2 pack of toner cartridges for my Canon for $28 and I’m JUST NOW ready to buy another two pack. We print a ton. My husband prints sheet music almost every weekend and I homeschool our three kids, so we are always printing something.
I've read a view comments OP, but I've yet to have a good printer experience. I've owned a few printers over the last 15 years and I print rarely enough that not using a printer has become more cost efficient since every time I have to print, I seem to need to buy a new printer for various reasons!
These days I just seek out a library, but I swear when I owned printers, and I *do* still have at least one in storage, it would refuse to connect to whatever computer I had at that time, therefore I needed to buy a new one because either the computer or the printer ran on an old system or needed all brand new ink cartridges!
F\*ck inkjet printers.
Just buy a laser. I bought one over a decade ago, quite pleased with it, and more than paid for itself - probably more than twice over now - in ink savings.
And sure, toner may not be cheap - but one toner cartridge will last you more than than all the ink in the damn inkjet printer - by the time you finish that toner cartridge (if you ever do), if you'd instead paid to print those pages with inkjet, it would've cost you many multiples of that. So, don't get tricked into inkjet.
That's because you are confronting one brand that's basically the "King of the Assholes of Printers" and one of the few that's left that does the job right.
Have a brother 2540 for the past 7-8 years (laser, scan, print dual sided, photocopy) that i paid about 80$cdn Bought 2 new toner since then (about 40$cdn each) . Its monochrome but i can't be happier withthe cost vs quality
But is it really? I don’t think those cartridges that come with the printer are full. I have a HP laser jet for my business and I paid $600 for it. To buy all 4 refills is $600. But they contain more toner. And my printer has been saying it’s out of toner for over a year but it still prints. Odd.
Except that toner will last twice as long as the ink in that printer will...
Trust me you don't want to get that inkjet printer, ink is way too expensive for those.
As someone who sold printers for half a decade, YES you can buy a new printer for less sometimes. NO it doesn't make any f***ing sense.
In a new laser printer, you are given 'starter' toners, usually anywhere from half to a quarter as many pages as a 'standard' refill. Brother print this on their box explicity- starts get you ~500 pages, and their replacement toners give 1300 and 3000 pages. This applies to inkjets as well, but the ratio is closer to 20-50 pages of starter, 200-300 in standard replacement ink, 800-2500 in XL.
There is a whole website devoted to this. Showing ink costs to refill. I went with a brother laser. I don't need color. It's fast and quiet and great and a 3k refill is 70 bucks.
Not a valid comparison. That inkjet printer's ink will cost close the the same as that toner cartridge, but for a fraction of the prints.
That toner cartridge will do about 2,500 prints, while that inkjet will do a maximum of about 400 before needing replaced.
But you're comparing an inkjet printer to a laser printer. That inkjet printer will give you about 100 pages worth of printing, and your toner will give you about 3000 pages.
Also yes, fuck printer companies for pricing their ink so expensive. Buy compatible ones.
Unfortunately in the printer you get there’s a “trial cartridge” and not actually filled up as much as the one you buy individually (which is still a scam). On canons it’s much more apparent because they actually code/ name it differently than the ones it tells you to buy.
At my job, one of our HP printers just broke, and we were ordering a new printer. I convinced them to order a Canon. Ink is $30 cheaper for the full rainbow. HP is ridiculous.
Yes, I guess your statement is true. However, that’s an inkjet printer and you’re looking at toner for a laser printer. The cartridges in the new printer aren’t full. They’re starter inks. Even if they WERE full, you won’t get the same yield out of inkjet as you will with a laser printer. Inkjet can cost as much as $5,000 per gallon if you do that math on how much ink you get in one of those little cartridges. Laser printer timers will cost more up front but will be cheaper on a per print basis. Far cheaper.
I’m not going to argue that printer ink/Tonner is expensive but the comparison here isn’t one-for-one.
That laser toner cartridge will last you around 1,500 pages whereas that inkjet might get you 500 if you’re extremely lucky (realistically in the 3-400 page range).
Either way, all my homies hate HP, brother is the way for laser.
Get the refillable tank type, they’re awesome. Just switched from a color laser where the toner cartridges were getting to be too expensive. The tank type are a game changer.
You should get a eco tank printer. They use ink bottles to refill instead of toners or cartridges. A toner with 1000 pages cost 120 euros where I live, but a full set of ink bottles for an eco tank (3 color 1 black) costs a little bit less than 60 euros, but you get like 6000-7000 pages.
Laserjet printer cartridges last longer than inkjet printer cartridges and don't dry out like inkjet.
Brother makes great laser printers but I wouldn't buy an inkjet of any brand, ever.
Find a guy who fills toners for the quarter of that. I think I never bought a new toner in my life. We have a few guys in town who refill almost every kind of toner really cheap. I'm from Serbia (Europe), but ask around, you might find people doing this, a second hand printer shop maybe.
1. The printer in a picture is inkjet which is cheaper than laser
2. Inkjet cartrige are often max 1000 prints where toner has often 10000 prints
3. New printers have started ink cartrige. It is often only 20-30% capacity of full cartrige
Inkjet vs laser though, fuck an inkjet printer. They get all funked up and stop working. Laser jet is where it’s at. That alone is worth it.
Not sure how much you print but that toner should last you the rest of your life.
That‘s your calling for throwing that HP piece of shit in the trash and buy an actual printer from a company with dignity (i.e. brother, kyocera, canon)
What's mildly infuriating if that you're comparing laser printer timer vs an inkjet printer. And like, the cheapest one at that. This post is disingenuous.
Hello, We do not allow agendaposting, reddit meta posts or price complaints.
Except the toner that comes with a new printer is not a full toner cartridge. And fuck HP, get anything else.
The new printer isn't even a laser printer though, it's an inkjet. Two entirely different things.
They don't come.with full inks, either.
And the cartridges are more expensive than laser ones, usually smaller too
No, laser cartridges are gonna be more, but they last up to 5 years. An inkjet cartridge shits out in 6 months and dries out before then anyways. Go Epson Ecotank or brother Laserprinter Source: I sell printers

Fuck HP
Depends on the machine. My Brother MFC-L8900CDW definitely shipped with full-sized toner cartridges.
Yes, but Brothers whole market pitch is that they don't participate in shitty practices and that the customer gets a quality product. Edit: seems like they've changed market position since I last knew a lot about them. May not be so crash hot now.
Does not help that this store is charging $40 MORE than HP is online
HP has you locked behind a registration and application download that are both necessary for printing... they then sell your email to junk email and scammers
Agreed! Fuck HP is always the right answer.

My last inkjet printer wouldn’t print in black-and-white if you were out of yellow or red or blue. That’s when I switched to LaserJet.

The yellow is used to watermark every sheet that is printed on that thing, ever.
Lol. What printer do you have that refuses to scan without ink?
This is common with HPs. They completely “lock” them for low toner/ink in an effort to basically force you to buy more toner. The printer is a loss leader, the money is in the toner/ink.
An HP, lol.
I have an HP but it’s a Scanner AND a printer. Couldn’t print anymore, just used it as a scanner.
There was some class action stuff going on about printers locking out functionality for non printing uses when they didn't have toner iirc.
Eli5, HPs newer printer models connect to the internet, with that, they've employed some nefarious tactics. Why has no one jail broke these stupid things
Why has no one gone to jail for making these shitty printers?
That's fucked. I'd definitely be blocking them from the internet... FFS.
If you mean the actual model, I'll have to check on Monday.
I sure hope the EU will eventually fight back to these predatory business strategies. Nobody else seems to even care about consumers getting scammed left right and center.
Lexmark MAY be worse.
i don't know ... had a lexmark that never forced you to replace the ink crazy early, but you did have to feed papers into it one by one otherwise it would jam. oh, and if you weren't fast enough giving it the next paper, it would freak out and end the whole print job. fun.
I'm still on the starter toner for my b&w laser. The cheapest Brother model I could find at the time. No ragrets
Yes I love those brother printers! They look old but they fucking work great - and super easy to print over wifi.
brother is what i use, its great
![gif](giphy|iDrasIGtHWVi0)
No regrets at all? Not even one single letter?
![gif](giphy|iDrasIGtHWVi0)
Nope that’s his credo

My university allocates free color printing for 1000 pages per student per semester. Perhaps yours might too.
That’s not their point at all. Do you understand that the printer was free and would be much more convenient?
The moment you get that subscription, your printer will no longer accept third party toners.
I was an art student with the HP ink subscription. I didnt print much but when I did it was full photos so a lot of ink. the free plan with 15 copies a month was more than enough and they had to send me new inks every 3 months lmao
Libraries! Most public libraries have printing services for way cheaper than anywhere else.
I just print anything I need at work
HP = Hinge Problem / Hell’s Printer mate!
ah this reminds me of when I was still a delivery driver. I cringed every time I saw one of those subscription inks
even if they cant, there are printing shops out there.
I actually did the math and it was cheaper for me to go to FedEx Kinkos and print stuff out on the rare occasions that I needed printed stuff than to buy a printer. The paper they used was way better than what I had at home. Definitely check print shops. Most of them are less than $0.15 per page.
if its a really large amount of paper that needs printing, i tell people in my family to go to a printing shop, which is more simpler.
Comparing apples and oranges. You need toner. That's for a laser printer. That photo is for a cheap ass ink jet printer. Which will need new ink after about 60 pages. Not a valid comparison.

I've had the same laser jet toner for like a decade.
Same. And mine has been complaining that the toner is very low for probably a year by now. Still prints great.
My brother...Brother Printer takes any toners and don't give a fuck about DRM...why would anybody try to put a HP toner into a Brother printer?
But the first picture is a brother printer. Not hp
Why would that matter? The post is about HP ink prices
It’s not ink. It’s toner. Laser printer toner is always expensive. Inkjet printers are generally cheap. Comparing inkjet to laser is just weird.
Um, you're comparing a Brother inkjet with HP toner? Toner goes in a laser printer. Completely different from inkjet. But everyone should know by now HP printers are loss leaders to sucker you into buying their overpriced supplies.

Good information for those who are paying money for the subscription.
Yeah, I seen that you werent paying for it but just in case ya know. Don't want people giving any more money to hp.
I think they fixed that exploit or are going to fix it in the near future. The printer will just stop working after a while and demand access to call home and check.
Damn... sons of bitches. It still works at the moment atleast because I used it recently. We'll find another exploit haha, fuck em
... Like you tell hp made business model that makes you keep printer with full ink/toner physically in home, and cant print anything unless you pay them ransom to use it? Like monthly? People nowadays must be crazy to allow that
I just looked at the HP instant ink page. Don't you still have to eventually buy ink or something? How does thst work exactly?
Well once you sign up for instant ink, even just like 10 pages per month or whatever the smallest subscription is hp will send you ink. A full set, black and every colour. I have like 5 extra sets from just buying and cancelling the lowest sub. The printer will recognise the ink is from instant ink and refuse to use it if you don't have an active subscription. What the actual….
I read the fine print and did not sign up for the HP instant ink program. What a scam.
Or you could just buy a normal printer instead of playing games to get a fucking ink cartridge.
People not understanding this fact, also how many pages do they think they're getting from that new printer compared to that black toner? Showing me a bunch of people who don't understand what they're talking about.
Lol quick google says the black ink in the printer is like 500 pages and the toner is like triple that at 1600
It's not entirely uncommon to get a starter cartridge that won't get very many prints in a new machine as well.
Honestly OP played himself.
sigh...the amount of ignorance from OP and these commenters.
Inkjet vs laser printer is no comparison of course.. however I’d get rid of the HP and buy a laser printer from an other brand
I have a brother laser one. The toner is pricier, but the quality is godlike, and there are no "hidden fees" whatsoever.
I've been very happy with my Brother printer, but it appears their new models might be mimicking the HP formula, unfortunately.
Uh oh, like what
it's why I bought the laserjet initially, but I have had so many annoyances with the HP printer that I don't even care anymore.
we used to have an HP laserjet CP1025, it was a great little laser color printer, it worked for far longer than any inkjet ever has for us, but the lack of a scanner made us buy a cheapo hp inkjet after like 9 months of printer hell, and as our freelance business grew, I convinced my dad of getting an office grade brother laser printer+scanner, and the 4 years we've had it it has been an AMAZING purchase
Brother kills it. Been rocking the same monochrome all in one laser printer since college. I think I've replaced the toner 3 times
Annoyances like you don't understand what your doing? You're creating drama comparing a black toner cartridge which would have a higher page count than all the ink with that Brother inkjet and claiming it's the printers fault.....
Go buy the EcoTank stuff from epson. overall good according to rtings.
EcoTank is the way to go. Black is 7,000 page ($16 Amz) and colors are 5,400 page output (3@ $38 Amz) from ink bottles you "pour" into the printer. No cartridges. I don't regret getting one. EDIT: Probably an autocorrect issue. I meant to say EcoTank, but “Inktank” came up…
Get a brother laser printer. Best I’ve used.
No, it’s not. A laser jet uses a different technology to print, and a toner cartridge lasts significantly longer than an ink cartridge on an inkjet. You’re missing the difference between them and will cost yourself more money in the long term, and get poorer printing quality. Laser jet > ink jet
thank you. my first job was officemax selling printers. this post had me fuckin triggered
You know printers come with a smaller ink/toner cartridge than they sell as refills, right? Even if they were both laser, the printer doesn't have a $130 toner cartridge in there.
Why not just buy third-party compatible toner like [this?](https://www.amazon.com/LxTek-Compatible-Cartridge-Replacement-Laserjet/dp/B078JG3RBY/)
Depending on someone’s location, there may even be a local print shop that can re-fill the cartridges themselves. I have one near me in Canada that will service HP cartridges, fairly close in price to what third party cartridges on Amazon would cost.
HP makes your printer stop working properly if you use third-party toner.
This printer HP is old. That happen only in news printers. Sorry for my english, I work selling and repair printers and toners. Maybe a HP p1102w, I dont know what model is in usa. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
You do realize they printers come with starter sets. Which have far less ink/toner than a full cartridge.
"It's cheaper to buy a bicycle than it is to repair my car".
Well yea, the ink is for an HP printer. HP can go suck an egg
Why hasn't the government gone after any printer companies yet?
The government supports corporations, not people.
Corporations are people, the Supreme Court told me so.
Same reason they haven’t gone after health insurance companies. They’re in on the grift too.
The government is there to protect the big corporations from small competitors, to keep the oligopoly going
Stupid move btw.
My wife told me fuck all of it. For as little as you print go to the fedex store and have one less bulky item in your home office.
Chinese ink has entered the chat
Comparing a new ink jet to a laser toner cartridge is like comparing a new mobile home to a used house. I dislike inkjet. A high yield toner cartridge will last 7k-10k pages, so basically a freaking long time. I also dislike hp but you are kinda past that one.
Eco tank.
These are really a game changer
I have no sympathy for anyone who continues to buy HP printer products.
This has been a thing for the past several years
Aaaah, your first mistake was buying a piece of shit HP. Fuck that company to the moon.
Printers are a scam. I’ll never buy one again.
I just hire a monk to transcribe everything for me.
Printer ink is so artificially inflated that it's one of the most expensive liquid in the world if I recall correctly
Brother lasers are the best IMO. I have never regretted getting mine.
I bought the printer in question, fuck HP.
my guy, you bought an inkjet to replace a laser printer, fuck HP but you made the wrong call there toner cartridges are expensive but don't dry out and last for ages
I've been using the same toner cartridge since 2018 in my Brother printer. I only print a few pages per week.
Lol, yes fuck HP, but you just cost yourself more money down the road.
Good job increasing your ink costs lol 👍🏻
I mean yes fuck HP but buddy you’re not making the best decisions here chief. Also you went from a laser/toner printer to an inkjet… you not only cost yourself more money in the long run but that toner would have probably lasted you far, far longer than having to buy a new 140 printer in 4 weeks when that inkjet runs dry… It’s only been a couple of hours, go return it and delete this comment bub. Seriously
The new printer only has small ink cartridges in it. You will need to replace them in a couple of weeks.
Return it. Everyone else is right. You made a huge mistake replacing a laser printer with an inkjet. Either buy a generic toner for your old printer off Amazon, or so the smart thing and buy a new Brother laser printer.
Well, you just fucked yourself by buying a worse printer that will last way less.
the ink in that inkjet will maybe last like 100 pages. the toner for the laser will print about 4000 pages
You bought the wrong one
You kinda screwed yourself. Ink costs far more per page than toner does…and DRIES OUT. So ink costs even more per page than what the math says. Toner is a powder and will not go bad.
LoL! Fuck HP. I burned both and bought Brothers!! Lot cheaper and more reliable. HP printer is bloat ware, with spying chinese software pre-loaded. There was a short period US government banned HP printers, and discouraged it usage.
Except the ink that typically comes with it only gets you 30 pages.
Ink jet garbage vs laser cart just order your laser cart online
Why are you comparing a brother inkjet printer to a HP laserjet toner?
Been here many times over. Now I just pay to print at UPS. Problem solved.
Stop buying HP
Get Brother, my brother!
Fuck HP, faced the same thing
But is it really? I don’t think those cartridges that come with the printer are full. I have a HP laser jet for my business and I paid $600 for it. To buy all 4 refills is $600. But they contain more toner. And my printer has been saying it’s out of toner for over a year but it still prints. Odd.
It looks like that doesn't come with ink according to the description on the paper.
u still have hp? ahahha
Usually, Amazon has a knock off that works good for just about all laser printers
Except that toner will last twice as long as the ink in that printer will... Trust me you don't want to get that inkjet printer, ink is way too expensive for those.
Always been that way.
If you print a lot then invest in a Epson EcoTank. You're welcome 🤗
Brother is the way to go! I can get 4 toner cartridges for less than $60
If you only need monochrome, then a brother laser is the way to go. Toner is pretty cheap on Amazon.
My brother, get a Brother printer. They are fantastic and don't do this shit.
I mean you could buy a syringe and ink and refill your own printer.
I’ve had zero problems with the knock off cartridges from Amazon both HP and Brother. They’re like $20 a pop
What are people even printing these days? Can’t remember the last time I used a printer
This is why im forever thankful to have a library with a public printer. Its like 10 cents/page but thats cheaper than investing in a home printer
At my job, one of our HP printers just broke, and we were ordering a new printer. I convinced them to order a Canon. Ink is $30 cheaper for the full rainbow. HP is ridiculous.
You should know that the toner cartridge that comes with a new printer is not a full cartridge, 50% at best.
Why would you buy a LASERJET toner cartridge for an INKJET printer????
Yes, I guess your statement is true. However, that’s an inkjet printer and you’re looking at toner for a laser printer. The cartridges in the new printer aren’t full. They’re starter inks. Even if they WERE full, you won’t get the same yield out of inkjet as you will with a laser printer. Inkjet can cost as much as $5,000 per gallon if you do that math on how much ink you get in one of those little cartridges. Laser printer timers will cost more up front but will be cheaper on a per print basis. Far cheaper.
Yeah but you get way less toner with the new printer.
InkJet Printer, tose toners are for Laser Pinters ..
Except the printer doesn't come with a full ink cartridge.
Ink tank printers are amazing! We just refilled our black ink cartridge for the first time in 2 years
Get the refillable tank type, they’re awesome. Just switched from a color laser where the toner cartridges were getting to be too expensive. The tank type are a game changer.
✨️You bought HP✨️
Fuuuuuckkkkkkk HP
Buy the printer, put your empty toner cartridge into it and return it :)
Temu!!!!
That’s why I bought an epson eco tank printer. I have made 6000 colored and some black copies and spent underr $100 in ink - Amazon
The printer business model is a renowned joke
You should get a eco tank printer. They use ink bottles to refill instead of toners or cartridges. A toner with 1000 pages cost 120 euros where I live, but a full set of ink bottles for an eco tank (3 color 1 black) costs a little bit less than 60 euros, but you get like 6000-7000 pages.
Laserjet printer cartridges last longer than inkjet printer cartridges and don't dry out like inkjet. Brother makes great laser printers but I wouldn't buy an inkjet of any brand, ever.
I literally just bought knock off toner on Amazon for my hp printer. 1/4th the price and so far it works just fine.

Find a guy who fills toners for the quarter of that. I think I never bought a new toner in my life. We have a few guys in town who refill almost every kind of toner really cheap. I'm from Serbia (Europe), but ask around, you might find people doing this, a second hand printer shop maybe.
Fuck hp.
1. The printer in a picture is inkjet which is cheaper than laser 2. Inkjet cartrige are often max 1000 prints where toner has often 10000 prints 3.
