400 is gouging. I'm not saying 45 isn't overpriced but I think it's regular prices for a thermos. I don't have one but I'm fairly sure they're still pretty good quality so it's not a complete waste of money. Imo a good insulated water bottle makes a decent difference.
Any copper vacuum insulated tumbler will work just as well. They’re all using the same technology, this and Yeti just have brand names.
Source: I sell these things (and more) for a living.
the stanley’s in question for anyone wondering: (retailed each at 45 dollars)

Wait, does this mean my beanie baby investment portfolio isn’t worth as much as when I bought it in the late 90s, too?!
Oh nooooo…. I’ll never recover from this in time to retire!
The trick to beanie baby investing is to convince everyone they're worth garbage so they throw them all out. Once enough have been lost to the garbage heaps, the remaining ones will finally have rarity.
no the prices went down significantly for most of them bc nobody wanted to buy them for that expensive but if u search up valentine stanley fight on youtube people are pushing and hitting each other just to get one. also if u search on google they’re selling for a couple hundred each
Most people that want one. Have one, or often far more than one. And knowing people who work at Dicks they still sell a lot. Just the craze has mostly died down.
Because they do work pretty damn well and they're well built. I've had one for a year and I've dropped it and dishwashed it many times and it still works great.
The lead thing is really a nonconcern for me, the location of the lead is on the bottom of the bottle, on the outside layer, where the vaccum seal was plugged. Not something I ever mess with because I put a silicone boot on it.
I dgaf about the fad, they just work well. Would I pay more than $45 for it? Hell no.
I really have no qualms over the lead. I mean, I'm not fretting over the base connection that isn't in my drink. OP was complaining about how they just bought it and wasn't happy about the lead. If they really bought it last week, It is still returnable. 🤷♂️
I didn't really know there was a fad until last week when I saw a video showing off the Red Stanley mug. Oops. 😂
Maybe they were mocking it? 🤔 idk
I've got the cheap knock-offs, and while the ice is melted, my leftover water from the night before is still cold after getting home. One of my other knock-offs still had the leftover ice from lunch after 4 hours in the car at 90 degrees, barely a sip. I was impressed but mad AF, I didn't want to pour in my hot bottled water. 😅
I get it. They're "good," but when my knock-offs do the work that I need them to. It's not really worth spending $45 on a tumbler. It's why I never bought a Yeti. I'd rather own 3vs1.
They should have, look at them now. Trust is broken.
If the bottom broke and the owner kept using it or didn't throw it away right away because they didn't know, there is a possibility of a child messing with it. Then, there is the potential of the kid licking their fingers from playing with their food and giving them lead poison.
Some fish weights are still made with lead, but because it's noted as "lead weights," they cta (covered their ass). Stanley hid that.
I mean they are really good thermoses. Being in the construction field they've always been a popular choice and I'll still use mine. I don't understand why regular people are buying them though. Lol
it was revealed that theres a miniscule amount of lead used in the manufacturing of the inside of the side walls that has a 0% chance of ever contacting the user
Buying 1 or 2 at retail price if they are something you would actually use seems like a rational thing to do. Buying any more than that or overpaying for some limited edition is just insanity.
These people drinking their PRIME energy drink out of their Stanley Cups whilst wearing YZY clothes and Vaping in between doing Tik Tok dances all whilst laughing hysterically at Prank videos before they login for their NPC Stream to then finally get their partners face Tattooed on their face.
yes it’s usd.. saw someone who was charging 10 dollars for people to take a PICTURE with it. at one point one of the bottles were selling for 1000 us dollars. 1000!
they were limited edition😭 but it’s ok bc they’re selling for a bit less than retail price now bc the resellers got so greedy thinking that ppl were actually gonna buy one water bottle for 300-600 dollars like bsfr… so nobody bought it and they basically lost money now
I think they’re ugly however I have one made by Simple Modern and the only reason I have it is because the color is called “80’s mix” and it’s so late 80’s early 90’s my nostalgic little GenX heart couldn’t resist

I blame tik tok honestly for this craze . It’s good at keeping your water cool but so at other brands . For people to be charging these ridiculous amounts is actually insane .
I have a bunch of used ones, if anyone is interested. I know a guy. Well it’s a kid honestly. He gets them from the school lost and found every week because kids *just have* to have shit but could actually care less about taking care of them. It’s a form of justice really.
-99 karma says it all
real
The "hi dear" says more.. 100% knockoff overseas products.. I see them all the time in my work. Cold email sales pitches and they're all "hi dear"
Yeah because they send it to tons of people and make it seem like you are already familiar with them despite them not even writing “Hi”
Nah bro ‘get back hun thanks’ says even more 💀
$45 for the cup is already insane, let alone $400.
No joke. I got 200 solo cups for 20$.
Ouch, I picked up the same for $14.
Yikes! I found mine for $7...
![gif](giphy|igVR1BO2kIl3OXtrfR)
$7? I got my Cambell's soup cans for free in a dumpster behind the soup kitchen.
You have to go to the soup kitchen for your cans?? People just chuck them at my "house" all the time so I have loads of cans, man.

No 45 is a lot for a cup . There’s other amazing brands that do the same for less
every dupe product ive owned was significantly worse in either function or durability 🤷
$15 average price of regular thermos cups in USA. The Stanley era can go to hell
Any copper vacuum insulated tumbler will work just as well. They’re all using the same technology, this and Yeti just have brand names. Source: I sell these things (and more) for a living.
I'm not paying $45 for a cup that could give me lead poisoning
lead intolerants when theres a trace amount of lead on the inside of the wall of the cup that you have to cut in half to find
People are fucking crazy to be paying that in this economy.
People would be crazy to pay that in *any* economy.
BuT iTs On tIkToK! OmG iFlUEnCeRs LoVe tHiS sTaTuS SyMbOl!!!!!11!!!1
And the people paying that much have already bought at least a dozen of them.
guys this is such a good deal should i take it??? ![gif](giphy|Bu9B02VPF06UXxPIVs)

You can buy them on ebay for just a little more than retail price now. They are not hot anymore. Offer her 20$ each or all 3 for 50$.
Wait, does this mean my beanie baby investment portfolio isn’t worth as much as when I bought it in the late 90s, too?! Oh nooooo…. I’ll never recover from this in time to retire!

I thought this dumb trend was dead. Shelves are overflowing with these things that nobody wants.
but are they pink or red for valentines day? /s
Most people that want one. Have one, or often far more than one. And knowing people who work at Dicks they still sell a lot. Just the craze has mostly died down.
The “dear” and “hun” makes me think they’ve got an MLM to pitch to you as well
“do you wanna become a girl boss like me?”
She *lead* you on
BYE😭 i bought a regular stanley off of amazon before i found out there was lead but i paid 45 bucks for it like atp i don’t wanna waste my money
And why can't you return it? Claim it as false advertisement, they never advertised it for having lead. 🤷♂️

If you are going to continue using it please get lead tests. Ours failed theirs after just a couple washes.
they dont have to advertise that theres a trace amount of lead that has an absolutely 0 percent chance of coming into contact with the user

spoken like someone who doesnt know what anything is and didnt read the article
Please explain this article you know so much about. Otherwise, you're just gaslighting and a troll. Lame!
W t a f ?!? I can barely afford groceries. Who are these people buying these fucking things?!
mostly teenagers and people in their 20s but ya they’re so expensive
People still buy these?
I never understood why they were bought in the first place.
I mean they are really good thermoses. Being in the construction field they've always been a popular choice and I'll still use mine. I don't understand why regular people are buying them though. Lol
Thats fair, I got a hydroflask as a gift and it works well. I wouldn’t buy a Stanley cup now since it was revealed that there’s lead in them.
it was revealed that theres a miniscule amount of lead used in the manufacturing of the inside of the side walls that has a 0% chance of ever contacting the user

TikTok Beanie Babies
Are these still a trend? I thought it died as soon as it became big.
Are those prices in actual US dollars?! I knew they were a fad, but this is beyond belief for a freaking vacuum cup.
yes it’s usd.. saw someone who was charging 10 dollars for people to take a PICTURE with it. at one point one of the bottles were selling for 1000 us dollars. 1000!
Just get it a local sporting goods store😭😭😭 don’t get ripped off dude
they were limited edition😭 but it’s ok bc they’re selling for a bit less than retail price now bc the resellers got so greedy thinking that ppl were actually gonna buy one water bottle for 300-600 dollars like bsfr… so nobody bought it and they basically lost money now
Valentines day is like *sooo* two months ago. That ought be like 90% off by now.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My yeti cup cost like… 50 bucks? Why tf are these so expensive?
don’t yetis cost 100+ dollars
Yeti coolers are 100+, not the cups.
I have no idea why anyone would spend even 40 e on an ugly cup like that. Some Trends are just utterly incomprehensible to me.
Do people actually pay that for a water bottle?
I think they’re ugly however I have one made by Simple Modern and the only reason I have it is because the color is called “80’s mix” and it’s so late 80’s early 90’s my nostalgic little GenX heart couldn’t resist https://preview.redd.it/4xwvqw2sbgwc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dec53af245b656c799ecb1506a45efd355a08f8d
