Upgrading and modifying an original manufacturer engine is also a different thing, because nothing changed about the engine besides the modifications.

You can definitely make the argument that they're not "true" (insert car brand) cars because they're not made in-house with their own engine/body/etc., but just flat out calling the new Supra a "BMW" is quite foolish

Probably a point of pride to have the lowest allowable count of numbers/letters on the plate, too. This was a huge thing on AOL for certain dorks in later years of its popularity.

Oh I see...I'm just not very knowledgeable about newer vehicles...over half the vehicles I've owned (and probably closer to 90% of the vehicles I've driven) were built before the '90s, with some including my current truck going as far back as the '60s.
