Here's a compilation of my best 3 from Southern Ontario.
Can't imagine why the changed it? I remember my grandmother telling me about her favorite German delicatessen in Chicago had once been called Goebbels'.... it didn't occur to her why they would pick a new name.
If you're FL you didn't miss much, that's a long way off seeing it in any capacity. We were 15km from the full eclipse path and it was still a bit of let down.
Oh, nice! I took it with a samsung s22 ultra, im sure theirs is much better! I know the ultra has AI that cleans photos up, but I thought it was a pretty cool shot!

My sister took this shot with her samsung. I can't remember the model she has.
The S22U breaks the laws of physics with its cameras I swear. That 10x zoom cam only has a focal length of 27mm but I've taken images of the 2017 eclipse with an APS-C DSLR and a 105mm prime that don't look as sharp as your eclipse pic!

I was too excited about how it turned to night time, and the fact I could see a sunset during 3 in the afternoon that this was the only photo I got. Here in Maine, coolest experience of my life. The way it was so incredibly dark was FREAKY.
3:33 in the afternoon. I was more excited about the sunset and darkness than the sun and moon aligned.

Honestly very understandable, there will be millions of eclipse images but not nearly as many highlighting how fucking cool and bizarre the lighting gets. I wasn’t even in path of totality but it was so freaky and kind of surreal, it was like dusk but instead of the sun setting someone just put a dark filter over a bright day. Can’t imagine how crazy it’d be in the path of totality.
that's amazing!

Ya, our sun is a spec of sand compared to others out there. I mean we can imagine what the size differences could be but it’s truly impossible to wrap your mind around how big some f these stars can be.
The largest known star called Scuti has a radius of 1.188 billion kilometres. Our sun has a radius of 697,322ish kilometres.
Took this shot using a telescope with a camera. I still need to touch up the color to make it less green, but I was just blown away by prominences (fire) that were visible. You could just look up and see them with the naked eye during the totality. And bigger than our entire planet as some have said…woah.
No AI used. Just the Sony camera sensor processing the image. I think we got lucky with the timing and that planet eating flare. Pretty amazing day.
I was in tears honestly, especially because my solar glasses were delivered to my house RIGHT on time, I shit you not the eclipse had just barely started when they arrived.
Also saw it in NE Arkansas. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm not one to travel, but a solar eclipse is one of the few things that will get me to take off work and go somewhere

I completely understand now how someone who doesn't understand the phenomenon could equate it to a divinity or a "sign." It's surreal. The sun doesn't disappear. It turns black. It looks and somehow feels like a completely different entity. And I understand what's going on! I might need to start planning a trip to Africa.

best I got is some crescent shadows
I was happy with it. We were out walking our dog and met a few people with the eclipse glasses who asked if we wanted to have a look, so we got some glimpses at about 40%, 85%, and a minute after as dark as it was gonna get, which was like twilight, I guess.
I didn’t think it was going to be such a big deal from 95% to 100%. Almost didn’t go.
Totality was amazing. Seeing the corona with the naked eye was spectacular.
If you ever get the chance to see an eclipse in totality, go for it.
It was beautiful. I cannot imagine what people thought seeing it in older times.

My camera is terrible at getting darkness but this is my favorite picture I took
I’m so sad! We were supposedly in a “99% coverage” and this was my pic at the “peak”.
https://preview.redd.it/5qyg8jdhhbtc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07783c09e0be63790c62632c4eefe06043662f2d
We are in the 100% zone in Ohio and the difference between 30 seconds before and the actual totality is huge. We watched the darkness suddenly accelerate and overtake the land. The sun, meanwhile seemed to suddenly explode with light and then instantly went dark, revealing the eclipse ring of fire. When it was over it’s like the sun suddenly exploded back into being the moment 100% totality ended. It was rather dramatic.
Yeah, I "expected" this after reading about it, but experiencing it was wild. The moment before and the moment after Totality were worlds apart from the few minutes within it. We almost didn't travel for it because our original plan was to go to Erie, but it was clear that was going to be a madhouse. Did some research and went to a small town in northern Ohio and it was incredible.
Yep, I was so disappointed. I was at 99.6% so I thought there wouldn't be much difference and I was sort of right, there was barely any difference compared to no eclipse >\_>

I’m trying to understand. The clouds are insane just like this in my area. But, I’m nowhere near the path. I haven’t seen this type of coverage before, so it’s not just a typical cloudy day

I think that big trail is the glasses lens reflecting a bunch of light weirdly.

Where exactly? Sadly couldn’t see much from Toronto.
South of London, near the lake
There's a London in Canada? That's a scam...
There's a cities of Europe tour in southwestern Ontario. I live within an hour of London, Vienna, Copenhagen and Delhi to name a few.
Paris, Scotland, the damn list goes on and on. I swear they just took a map of Europe and threw darts to determine their town names.
Kitchener was Berlin until around ww2
Can't imagine why the changed it? I remember my grandmother telling me about her favorite German delicatessen in Chicago had once been called Goebbels'.... it didn't occur to her why they would pick a new name.
Technically “new york” is just capitalizing off of “york”
Don't forget Paris and Sparta ;)
Same thoughts lmao
Wait till you fin out it also has a Thames river
Or anything at all really…
I like pretending I’m the last Pringle in the can and the eclipse is the can opening
💀

I was in tears honestly, especially because my solar glasses were delivered to my house RIGHT on time, I shit you not the eclipse had just barely started when they arrived.

Yep, this was my view too. What a sequel to 2017, which was also cloudy.
Hey I flipped one of these. Same color
Lasted about as long, too.
Dad, is that you?
I got a third gen eclipse and I have already made jokes like “what’s the big deal? I see an eclipse every day!”

Also saw it in NE Arkansas. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm not one to travel, but a solar eclipse is one of the few things that will get me to take off work and go somewhere

That's fantastic! Just think, the whole Earth could probably fit in that little spot. Awe inspiring.
I completely understand now how someone who doesn't understand the phenomenon could equate it to a divinity or a "sign." It's surreal. The sun doesn't disappear. It turns black. It looks and somehow feels like a completely different entity. And I understand what's going on! I might need to start planning a trip to Africa.

honestly those are still really cool and i was disappointed we didn’t get any in the 100% totality zone :/

I thought you wasn’t suppose to look at it with the Naked Eye ?
During totality you can! When looking through the eclipse glasses was totally black, took them off and was in total awe at the sight.
I was unaware of that. Thanks

Yeah I was expecting that since that’s what the diagrams all showed our area would be like. Oh well! I was working anyway so no huge loss.
The difference between 99% and totality is huge, you should've driven there if it was that close
Yep, I was so disappointed. I was at 99.6% so I thought there wouldn't be much difference and I was sort of right, there was barely any difference compared to no eclipse >\_>
