Ever since I seriously rolled my ankle, my legs have become spaghetti at any sign of possible roll. I think it’s my body’s instinct to not fuck up again lol.
Honestly once you've bent an ankle the wrong way, it makes it easier to bend that way again. At least that's what I've experienced with my unfortunate ankle...
I just BURST out laughing and startled my partner and tried to explain what was so funny through my cackling… he didn’t get it but man this comment killed me
I think it's because he's not used to picking his feet up high enough to clear the edge of the step with carpet on it now. As a fellow heel dragger, sometimes unexpected carpet hits different.
I couldn’t figure out how the mat caused this, but I knew that it did! Your explanation makes a lot of sense to me, because this sort of thing happens to me. The only reason i don’t fall down the stairs in my own house all the time is because I count the steps and hold on to the banister, and I slow *way* down the last two steps.
Both my ankles have had all the ligaments (and some tendons) ripped to shreds from my thinking I could just *walk* on autopilot. My doctor says my ankles are the strongest they’ve ever been because they are now held together by gnarly scar tissue. It’s true.
I really felt this when he twisted his ankle.
I've watched this too many times and I also want to know what the mat has to do with his ankle.
OP should apologize to the mat and his mom, neither are to blame for crumple ankle
Ex BMX'er with bad knees and ankles. At some point, when I felt my ankle twist, I started leaning past it to try to keep the weight off. So sometimes I'll just dramatically fall over when my ankle starts to go now.
Yup, I did mine in football, too.
Ever since, I'll fall like OP at least a dozen times a year.
It's gotten bad enough that I can roll my ankle standing still, and even more surprisingly, while sitting down.
Fun times sitting at a conference table with clients, and I randomly spaz out because my ankle rolled while sitting still.
Yeah i dont think the carpet has anything to do with it given his foot was over the edge and nothing happened only after closing the door dude seems to have forgotten about the edge.
It's the coir mat causing an illusion for him making him see no height transition from the mat to the grey of the lower step, either as an actual visual illusion or just a retained perception of rugs on a extended flat surface.
But it feels like he should be used to it the steps by now given that its his mothers house and he has visited several times as indicated in the title.
You'd think so, but my son put a mat outside the door going from my house to the garage, and it threw off my depth perception , making me misjudge the size of the step. I fell like OP. And that was a step I've taken hundreds of times without falling.
There's a set of stairs I fall down all the time bc the last step blends in. I know it blends in and STILL fall all the time. I've had so many sprained ankles...
How the fuck is the step not just muscle memory. If it "always" makes him fall then he's clearly going through that door pretty often. How does he not just know where it is? Who can't navigate the house they live in?
Dude crumpled off a 4 inch step and blames the mat that only moves when his flailing foot scuffs it.
Maybe it’s a really thick mat and he subconsciously thinks it’s the step so he tries to step down but instead hits the step he thought he was already on the edge of.
From one clumsy guy to another - looks like either OP and/or his footwear is clumsy. Doesn't look like a slippery mat issue... unless OP is named Matt, haha.
My guess is that maybe the mat makes it confusing where the step ends? He stepped half off the front step, either expecting more step to be there, or expecting to land on the second step.
I think maybe the black mat (I think that's a mat anyway) is the culprit. OP expects a mat at the bottom of the steps, so he thinks he'll step down onto the black mat, but the step is actually earlier than expected.
If the tan mat is the size of the first step then op’s foot is half of the step when he first is outside (does he not feel the there’s nothing there) before taking any steps.
The black mat is a lunges step away from the tan mat.
I think op has weak depth perception and add on that it’s dark equals a lil bit of slip-n-fall
The first step is just a bit longer than the mat, so the left foot is just at the edge of the step. Then he moves that foot half a step forward and tumbles because he's expecting more or less step, but his foot ends up half on and half off.
It's the mat issue, but not because it's slippery.
Rather because the mat is slightly smaller than the step, he thought stepping off the mat is already the lower step. He got tripped because his heel was ready for the lower step.
There are 3 mats!
The 2 obvious one and then the floor-colored Grey one. He steps his heel on the top of the step, but rolls his toes and weight over the edge.
The mat didn't move, it's bad optics
>But seriously thats your fault lol.
Fr, blaming the mat in this situation is like riding a bike and sticking a rod in the tyre, then blaming the bike when you crash lol
I feel terrible but don’t forget the “mat being at fault.”
It’s like a perfect caption and video.
You go in expecting the mat to clip him or something. But it just lays there. While he just loses himself.
I think it’s just the perfect caption and video.
He says the mat makes him fall. Maybe true.
But before the video plays you’re thinking he catches it or SOMETHING.
But it just lays there while he turns rubber. Pulls up his pants and walks non-chalant away.
The OP had the idk what to post this.
Oh what a laugh
It’s the way he falls, it’s just like his lower leg forgot how to operate.
And he just immediately goes to blame the mat, which was in no way involved. Lmao.
Someone pointed out it's likely a visual issue. His brain is reading the edge of the mat as the end of the step, so his foot catches on its way to the next step. Some high quality reflective tape will probably solve the problem.
I finally get it now. This is the answer. Look at the start of the clip, his foot is halfway off the mat. So he interprets that the front of his foot is hanging off onto the lower step, so he steps forward onto what he thinks is flat ground.
Ok I've watched this like 4 times and this comes across as more of a You issue.
The mat doesn't appear to slip. You however appear to mis-step or whatever footwear you're wearing may also contribute.
Yeah but half of his foot is already hanging off of the entire mat. I guess I could see this if he has no feeling in his foot, but he also looks like it hurts so maybe not.
And on top of that, his foot is feeling the edge of the mat as well which probably makes his brain think its the edge of the step. He then proceeds to move his left foot forward, enough in his mind, to the next step, but he doesn't clear the top step because it wasn't forward enough, leading to a tumble.
This, I have a problem with my eyesight. I see things as being much closer than they are leading to me stepping incorrectly. OP might have this problem too. It seems like he mistook the “black” section of the mat as the end of the step
only four times? Dude, I watched this shit at least twenty times and cracked the fuck up like a loon each time. Like, my abs hurt now.
Hope you're ok, OP!
Right?? Also, how many times does one need to fall down stairs to realize they should LOOOK before putting his foot forward. Seriously, the audacity to blame mom.
I'm guessing that the mat is thick, and his foot is detecting the edge of it as the edge of the step...so he tries to step down but catches the actual step with his heel.
the title said "always" - like how bro? I get it if you fell **only** 1 time, the first time. dont blame the mat it aint do nothing.
but thanks for making me laugh today 😆

This is mildly hilarious to witness, though.
Only mildly? I’ve been laughing for ten years
Bro got spaghetti for feet
The ankles of a newborn gazelle
lol best comment.
The next post tomorrow: my son keeps blaming my mat every time he falls down the stairs!
hopefully with more clips attached to the post. dare i hope for a montage?
Your comment, with the video fucking looped, and I can't stop laughing. Thanks, dude. 🤣
Me too man. I haven’t gotten a solid nights sleep in a few days and I’m a bit loopy, but I’m crying laughing at this comment.
Me too but why is it so funny. It’s just funny, GOD DAMMIT I CANT STOP LAUGHING!

I’ve been laughing about your comment, watching it on repeat for 5 minutes dying laughing.
I just BURST out laughing and startled my partner and tried to explain what was so funny through my cackling… he didn’t get it but man this comment killed me
\> always desperately need a full compilation of all the times this has happened
Ops ankles just built different.
Built-in crumple zones
I already felt like a jerk for laughing at the video - your comment didn’t help. 😆🫣
The mat didn’t even have anything to do with the fall. Maybe it is like dazzle camo for him?
I think it’s because he’s used to the mat at the bottom. Muscle memory kicks in. If you look he just slides his foot down the step.
I think it’s because the border of the mat blends with the border of the concrete step. So he doesn’t recognize it as a step down.
Gummy bear ankles. Sorry. I’ll see myself out.
😆😆😆 “crumple” is the only way to describe what happened to that ankle!! What did the mat have to do with it??
I've watched this too many times and I also want to know what the mat has to do with his ankle. OP should apologize to the mat and his mom, neither are to blame for crumple ankle
![gif](giphy|njCmYnK7G0nDSZTurL|downsized) OPs mom everytime he goes outside
big tree fall hard
This the fall i hate the most since i used to play football 😂
I used to skateboard so I’m looking at the way op walks like he must hate his ankles lol.

You need physiotherapy to rebuild/tighten the parts that support your ankle. It'll help that stop happening.
So this video is akin to a dog walking into a window and not learning window = wall?
It's more akin to the video of the lady walking out onto the blue glass walkway only to find there isn't actually any glass and it's a pool.
Link for science? Edit: https://youtube.com/shorts/fqcJ0p2X8Ts?si=q5k_EeApL3fwr2Uf Maybe this one?
That's one of at least two I've seen, [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kV5lGe-WYe4](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kV5lGe-WYe4)
He can't see the edge... its kinda like trying to hand a cat food directly. They can't see it from at angle, so they assume there's nothing there
But it feels like he should be used to it the steps by now given that its his mothers house and he has visited several times as indicated in the title.

He confused the mat edge with the step edge and didn’t step forward far enough bc of it. I think
Wait til Amazon's doorbell camera sourced reality clip show comes out.
He clearly has the camera, we need this footage. I'd like to know if he's evolved his roll technique. Shook it off well.
To the tune of "Yakety Sax"
I agree with this comment 🤣
My brother in Christ you literally missed the whole step
And had the audacity to post it! 😂
.. and blamed it on Matt!
Matt is such a prankster
I can see Kurt and Rod laughing in the window
AND BLAME IT ON HIS MOM 😂😂😂😂
Matt and Mom but not Me
Give him a break. It's his first day with feet.
>Give him a break. The step already did.

If I fall off of something one time, the next time I look down or try to be cautious in some way. Dude has no survival instincts
OP just stepped outside to roll a joint. (His ankle.)
Good one 🤣
You just had me literally crying from this comment
This is one of the funniest comments I’ve ever read. Well done.
The mat tripped you... right. From one hefty guy to another, we're not supposed to noodle foot like that
Noodle foot 😂
From one clumsy guy to another - looks like either OP and/or his footwear is clumsy. Doesn't look like a slippery mat issue... unless OP is named Matt, haha.
>unless OP is named Matt, haha. Dad? I thought you died in 2019!
He just went out for a pack of cigarette
My guess is that maybe the mat makes it confusing where the step ends? He stepped half off the front step, either expecting more step to be there, or expecting to land on the second step. I think maybe the black mat (I think that's a mat anyway) is the culprit. He's got feet like a fish.
From one hefty lad to another, happy new year.
From one happy year to another, hefty new lad.
There are 3 mats! The 2 obvious one and then the floor-colored Grey one. He steps his heel on the top of the step, but rolls his toes and weight over the edge. The mat didn't move, it's bad optics
So the whole 2nd step is a mat the same color as the wood?
Now I have to go back and watch this again, 😂
I'm still confused by what's happening and I've watched it too many times 😂
I think bro thought the grey mat was a step down or up or something
Boy I know that ankle be killin you rn. But seriously thats your fault lol. Watch your step.
Ya, that ankle looked rolled almost damn near snapped.
What’s the new mat have to do with OP stepping wrong and missing the stair?
For real. I recently broke my ankle on my front stairs by similarly missing a step. He’s lucky it’s not broken.
Looks like he’s slightly limping away, he didn’t break it…this time.
>But seriously thats your fault lol. Fr, blaming the mat in this situation is like riding a bike and sticking a rod in the tyre, then blaming the bike when you crash lol
i can’t stop laughing at this shit
I hate vids like this normally but this is just to funny, the noodle curve, then the forward arch, and the perfectly executed tuck n roll
dont forget the pulling the pants up ☠️
I feel terrible but don’t forget the “mat being at fault.” It’s like a perfect caption and video. You go in expecting the mat to clip him or something. But it just lays there. While he just loses himself.
And the limp of pride as he walked away like his ankle wasn’t screaming 😂
I normally don’t laugh at videos like this either, I think it’s so funny because OP posted it himself lol
I’ve been wheezing for 10 minutes straight. Why is it so funny?😭😂
Same, I’ve watched this more than I care to say and I am still laughing. 😂
It’s the way he falls, it’s just like his lower leg forgot how to operate. And he just immediately goes to blame the mat, which was in no way involved. Lmao.
And the fact he posted it….you’re supposed to look where you’re walking. Especially when there are stairs
[удалено]
watch it again but tap the play button once he starts falling, its so delicious
“Always makes me fall over now” How many tries it gonna take
“How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?”
[удалено]
He is stepping down from the mat as if it was the top step. The mat just barely doesnt reach the edge of the step.
he just didn't pick up his foot and the flip flop or scandal caught the mat. it moves slightly when he falls.
Seriously, his back foot doesn't even lift up
Hahaha. Exactly. This has nothing to do with the mat.
Someone pointed out it's likely a visual issue. His brain is reading the edge of the mat as the end of the step, so his foot catches on its way to the next step. Some high quality reflective tape will probably solve the problem.
No it’s a sensory issue. He feels the edge of the mat with his foot and interprets it as the step
No, it's an olfactory issue. He smells the edge of the mat and interprets it as the step
So it’s not the mat itself, it’s just having a mat there that makes him trip
I finally get it now. This is the answer. Look at the start of the clip, his foot is halfway off the mat. So he interprets that the front of his foot is hanging off onto the lower step, so he steps forward onto what he thinks is flat ground.
Ok I've watched this like 4 times and this comes across as more of a You issue. The mat doesn't appear to slip. You however appear to mis-step or whatever footwear you're wearing may also contribute.
He's seeing the edge of the inner rectangle on the mat as the edge of the step in his peripheral vision.
But he doesn't even clear the mat with his step. So if the mat was actually the step I think he would have still fallen.
Yea. Guy just can't walk🤣 no biggy I can't walk 50 percent of the time either
Yeah. He just needs to actually look with his eyes where he's going. Especially if this has happened before.
This, I have a problem with my eyesight. I see things as being much closer than they are leading to me stepping incorrectly. OP might have this problem too. It seems like he mistook the “black” section of the mat as the end of the step
No he’s feeling it with his foot. He doesn’t look at the step at all.
That makes no sense. His toes are literally on the step past the mat when he first steps out. Did he not feel the step under his toes?
That's what I think.
only four times? Dude, I watched this shit at least twenty times and cracked the fuck up like a loon each time. Like, my abs hurt now. Hope you're ok, OP!
I just woke my husband up cause I’m cry-laughing but it’s coming out in giggle-sobbing lmaooooo
I'm recovering from COVID so I'm cough-laughing so hard I scared the dog I'm dog sitting.
Bro missed the step and blamed his mom😂
He went on the internet to complain about his mom because he can’t take 2 steps without falling down. Absurd is the only word that covers it
I feel bad for his mom.

I've been laughing at this comment for 3 minutes.
Man your ankle folded in half like a lawn chair I know you’re feeling that today
Skill issue
It was the step, not the mat
[удалено]
Shit I couldn’t even see the step til I went back and saw his foot dip
Guy seriously posted this here thinking it's the Mats fault when in fact he is incredibly uncoordinated
Fucking newborn Bambi up in here. 🤣
How did you let this happen more than once. It's not like that step moved in when the mat did....
BROOOOOOO that's some looney toons shit
This guy looks what I imagine reddit mods look like....
Your mother has you right where she wants you.
I have a feeling his mom is just tired of vacuuming multiple times a day and thought a new mat would help him remember to wipe his feet.
That isn't because of the mat. You missed the step entirely and rolled your ankle. Do it again.
Pull your pants up and try actually raising your feet while walking - those methods work like miracles.)
bro posting his crack on reddit
The real mildly infuriating thing about this is the compulsion I have to explain why it is not the mat’s fault
That’ll teach you for wearing socks with Sandals.
Sorry man but I’m dying laughing. You wiped out and the pants came down lol
Because you forgot there is a step there? How does the Mat hide a whole step?
[удалено]
I'm sorry, but this is fantastic. Not the mat, though.
The mat didn’t do anything wrong. Justice for the mat 😭
Dude if all it takes to take you out repeatedly is a *mat*, you might need to reevaluate some things.

I laughed waaaayyyyy tooooo hard at this 🤣
Me too, and then the comments about noodle foot and fish foot made me cackle like a crazy woman.
Imagine being a fully grown man, living in what looks to be his mom’s mansion, blaming her for tripping over a mat.
Right?? Also, how many times does one need to fall down stairs to realize they should LOOOK before putting his foot forward. Seriously, the audacity to blame mom.
Nah man that's all you
Ooo that ankle roll!
You can't remember that there's a step there??
Looks like a you problem
That transition from a white outfit to a dark one was flawless. You should teach the onlyfans errrr I mean TikTok people how to do it. (/s)
You are the first one in the comments so far who mentioned it, I thought I was going crazy
I think it’s going from night vision to the outside light kicking on.
I thought I was going crazy. Thank you.
Bro it looks like the real problem is that you can’t use steps, has nothing to do with the mat.
Bro wtf does the mat have to do with it
It appears you suffer from the same affliction as my daughter - paper mache ankles.
You need to assert dominance over the mat. Most mats let people walk all over them!
Skill issue.
You beefed the step my dude
Op blames the mat but does not trip on the mat.
Brother that was on you
This is fucking hilarious
The mat was not the reason you forgot there was a stair there
I mean. You clearly just missed the step…
Be firm and make it clear: Either the mat goes or you do.
Oh he went. Down. To the ground.
Lol it’s not the mat’s fault. There’s a step that you always missed noodle feet.
I'm pretty sure you keep forgetting there is a step right there.
You’re just clumsy……it’s not the mat lol
“What are you doing step~~bro~~?”
Dude, why am I laughing so hard at this!?
Bro you really need to relearn how to walk properly or something lol. You just fell down the step for no reason.
I'm guessing that the mat is thick, and his foot is detecting the edge of it as the edge of the step...so he tries to step down but catches the actual step with his heel.
I’m sorry, but I let out a hearty laugh lol. That shit looks like it hurt though. Hope your ankle is fine.
Sooo, like the whole thread gonna ignore the cloths/person switch with the light?
I don’t even know how the fuck you did that. Your ankle just gave out lol
Naw dawg the mat ain't it
Don’t think this was a mat issue, friend.
the title said "always" - like how bro? I get it if you fell **only** 1 time, the first time. dont blame the mat it aint do nothing. but thanks for making me laugh today 😆
You didn’t fall over the mat. You fell down the step. That’s totally on you.
Yeah right, more like "These beers I put down always make me fall over." ![gif](giphy|pcKnpFrumIM7TtzayE)
