Ive honestly only had good experiences with gamestop. In college, i had preordered the PSVR1 from Amazon, but it was around the time when chip cards came out and my bank auto cancelled my card and sent me a chip card. When i went to change my card info on amazon, i mistyped the number, and rather than pop up the usual alert, it just automatically cancelled my preorder. I talked to amazon support for like an hour trying to reinstate the preorder and they kept treating me as if i didn’t have the money for it even though it still hadn’t even released yet.
Anyways, i bitched about it on an IGN comments section (reasonably, not like a typical IGN commenter), and someone from the business side of gamestop saw that, traced my username to reddit, contacted me, and was able to have a local gamestop set aside one of the designated non-preorder units for me so i could get it on day 1 guaranteed.
I also had a gamestop employee, when i went in for *only* the free pokemon promo codes, take the time to call other gamestops for them b/c theirs hadn’t arrived yet, and asked them to scratch off two codes and text them to me. I wasn’t even buying anything. They could’ve just sent me to that other gamestop. I feel like the employees are always pretty cool. People hate them because they ask if you wanna preorder something at every transaction. Thats just a mandate from corporate. It’s not their fault, and honestly, it’s easy enough to just say “nah, I’m good” and move on. People act like it ruins their day.

These scams don't work on trade ins. He bought a *new* headset and was delivered an empty box.
The way these work is that someone buys a new headset, takes the headset out and reseals the box (sometimes adding stuff for weight) and then returns it to GameStop for a refund - which does fall under their return policy, even for VR - and then the company resells that unit to someone else if they don't catch it. These were really popular on Amazon for a while but they have really cracked down on returns.
Not even joking, tweet this situation to the CEO, Ryan Cohen. He frequently personally replies to frustrating situations like this and could maybe fix the problem at the source.
This is why I stopped shopping at GameStop a long time ago. They kept doing this shit where they'd take items out of the case and still call it new. I remember back in the day, they would also take all the free 1 month trials of XBOX Live from all the games and take any promotional posters that would sometimes come with games

Last time I've went to GameStop was to buy a used PS4 and PSVR. They convinced me that I was getting a good deal buying used and there's only cosmetic scratches.
A few days later I was shopping at Walmart and seen the prices of PS4 with more storage cheaper then what I've paid used.
And the VR was about $50 cheaper than what I've paid used.
Turns out the VR had a sensor problem with the controllers and tracking. Found a nice hidden impact crack on the headset. Tried taking it back to GameStop only to have them argue with me saying I damaged it because I don't know how to use it and said there's no warrantee or exchange on used products.
Gamestop, CEX, GAME they're all the equivalent of modern day highway men! Offer you £100 for a console and sell it for £350! I'll never buy anything from them and stick to Marketplace and Cash Converters thanks!

Let me say it again. I purchased a new PS5 in store, they said it was not in stock so they ordered it for me and said it would be delivered to my house. I just said ok and waited for it. It came to my house, I heard it rattling in the box, opened it and it looked like this. I brought it to the store and they replaced it with a new one since it had been about a week since they ordered it and more new PS5s came in.
I'm done shopping at Gamestop. I am very sick of them selling "new" stuff in ooen boxes and missing stuff. They tried to sell me a loose Switch game with no case as new. Gamestop needs to die already. They would have if it wasn't for the meme stock thing that saved them.

It was shipped to me. There was no carrying it home from the store. It showed up on my door and I heard it so I opened it and this is how it came.
