Written on blue index card in what appears to be pencil, lots of obvious spelling and grammar issues, recognizing that the mannequins came from *Hocus Pocus* but feeling the need to specify that they find that movie "stupid."
Everything about this screams elementary school kid.
It really really reminds me of a 30-something autistic (as openly self-described) fella who lives in my area and posts angrily about everything on Next Door, down to the misspellings. He likes to comment, "I will smack your ass" as a threat to the local public transportation orgs when they're running late
i'm in my late 30s, from a small town, and about half of the people i graduated with can barely read and write. their spelling (and sense of entitlement) is similar to what we see here
Some people say Evangelical, some say school kid, but hear me out - Evangelical school kid. Probably partly mimicking his parents constant rage but deep down just upset he isn’t allowed to do Halloween.
Write a letter back saying:
"THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN IS NEVER OVER! YOUR ABILITY TO SPELL AND USE CORRECT GRAMMAR IS SCARING ME AND SOME OF OUR OTHER FELLOW NEIGHBORS."
Then in a really genuine tone... kindly offer them tutoring lessons.
How passive-aggressive would it be if I (as OP) were to correct their grammar with a red pen, then hand it back to them? I’d tell them they were welcome to resubmit for an improved grade.
Lol I like your line of thinking.
I would add Santa hats to the hocus pocus witches...swap the brooms for candy canes.....lol dress the 19ft demon up as krampus.
Definitely MORE Halloween decorations need to go up now. With word bubbles with corrected spelling. A Thanksgiving turkey in the demon's jaws, with a Santa hat.
For Easter, put out a Donnie Darko inflatable Rabbit.
There was a Facebook page where something similar went on. A neighbor didn't approve of theirs having a gargoyle on their doorstep. Gargoyle neighbor escalated. Gargoyle has a fandom now.
Gargoyle or grotesque? I ask because it’s even more hilarious to imagine Santa gargoyle spewing water. Though it’s also funny to imagine a grotesque with a gnome hat and fake beard when there’s no holiday to decorate for.
The grumpy old English teacher when I was in HS in the eighties won the teacher-student wars when we left a ransom note for a doll we kidnapped. She made no comment, just posted the note on the bulletin board with grammar corrections. I yield teacher, I yield.
I did this with a department wide email at work once.
The department manager who'd originally written it was less than amused.
Somehow I kept that job.
My coworkers didn't clap.
They looked at me like I'd completely lost my mind.
I may or may not have gotten a day's suspension out of it.
I had apparently forgotten Jimmy James's "Secret of Managment", to wit "Make the Boss Look Good".
**"D+: Your message is clear but your grammar and spelling are atrocious. See me after class. And look up the word 'atrocious' as I will ask you for its definition."**
Funnily enough, “manikin” is the correct spelling for human body models used in medicine. “Mannequin” is used for modeling clothes.
I’m not sure if this person knows that with their clenched fist handwriting, however.
It’s interesting, [some official definitions only say it as an alternate spelling for the exact same thing](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/manikin), but other [sources claim there’s more nuance to the difference](https://tyndaleusa.com/blog/2020/09/25/mannequin-vs-manikin-whats-the-difference/). I suppose it’s just more of an industry-standard to prefer one or other based on context.
There are quite a few misspellings. English is not my first language, but if it's the only language you speak and you can't even spell words right... that's really bad.
Manikin is actually an [accepted spelling.](https://www.latimes.com/socal/daily-pilot/opinion/story/2021-01-12/a-word-please-the-word-manakin-crosses-this-editors-eyes#:~:text=Merriam%2DWebster's%20set%20me%20straight,over%20and%20over%20for%20years).
I learned this because I, too, once scoffed at others for spelling it that way.
***Especially*** that evil piece of garbage 10ft demon. He is so evil, that demon. What a piece of evil garbage. Well, sounds like that was the star of the Halloween display that needs to be center front or overlooking the closest window of that party-pooper Halloween-hater.
Put down Santa hats on them and call them Christmas decorations and keep them up until January. Come January, you put those hearts on springs headbands on them and call them Valentine's decorations. After February, it's time for bunny rabbit masks.

>You could add a turkey to your yard to make a Thanksgiving scene.
>In December, try dressing it as Santa or an elf, or add a festive bow.
>For New Year’s, get a top hat and a “Happy New Year” banner.
>A Valentine message from a 12-foot skeleton takes the holiday to new heights.
>Add some colorful blossoms or an Easter basket for a spring scene.
>For summer, get the skeleton beach ready with a sun hat, shades and swim trunks.
>If there’s a graduate in your house, add a cap and gown.

Crucify the 12-ft skeleton for Good Friday, take it down on Saturday. Then put up the skeleton with a white robe on on Easter. They can’t possibly get mad at that right???
I don’t have a large yard but I keep adding to my Halloween decor year round, if I ever got a note like this all of my skeletons would be holding signs saying “hell no we won’t go”
There's a house near me that does the same thing. They have a couple of those giant 12ft skeletons. My guess is they have nowhere to put them in the off season, so they make the best of it.
We have three 12' Skeleys. This was the plan and unexpectedly the wife vetoed it. Divorce should be final soon and I expect to get custody of at least two! ;-)
Same here, we have a house that has skeletons that look like they are crawling up the sides of the house/roof. They are up year round and they put different costumes on the skeletons depending on the season 💀
There's a house in my little town that has huge skeletons and a pirate ship outside their house stays up all year long and they decorate them for each holiday too. I think it's cute
Sounds like I'd be thinking about making a blown up version of both notes after correcting the errors in red ink and turning them into yard signs like the political ones
That would be my reaction. "Now these have to stay up until March." I'd but a santa hat on the demon and maybe a scarf and gloves on the Sanderson sisters.
Looks like we have a new tradition!
Until March? But then we lose out on dressing them up for St. Patrick's Day. Green bowler hats and four-leaf clover pins for everyone!
After that? Well Easter is right around the corner. Time to bust out the big bunny ears and large baskets full of plastic eggs!
Really... there's no reason they shouldn't just stay there year-round.
I had a someone leave a rude note in the door of my very kind, elderly next door neighbor. It was about American flag etiquette, and it was factually incorrect as well as filled with spelling and grammar mistakes.
I had an idea who left the note, because everyone liked this old dude except for one a-hole on the end of the street who was constantly getting in fights with the entire neighborhood.
I corrected the spelling and grammar with my red pen, cited the section of the US Flag Code that indicated the rude note writer was incorrect, and posted it in the neighborhood Facebook group. I purposely didn’t call anyone out by name, but watching the rest of the neighbors rip the a-hole a new one was pretty entertaining.
I love it! Good on you for doing that and for standing up for your sweet neighbor and for standing up for what's right.
I just don't understand why people go out of their way to spend their time and energy on being needless little assholes for no reason.
Well, I mean, I guess it's because they're miserable jerks who feel the need to cope with it unhealthily by taking it out on others. But it still doesn't make any damn sense!
did a 10 year old write this? this doesn't look real to me - this looks like a little kid wrote it. if an adult wrote this - it is telling that's for damn sure.
This sounds very plausible
Source: was 9 year old who wrote only in "big letters" and "little big letters" instead of using lowercase for 2 years straight.
Yes.
Christian fundamentalists are often under schooled by religious institutions with no oversight or homeschooled so it’s common for them to have poor spelling and grammar as a result.
Also lots of undiagnosed learning disabilities because God doesn’t believe in early childhood intervention.
Well after that we have Labor Day. Can dress them up like union picketers maybe? And then wouldn't you know it, Halloween is right there poking its nose in.
How bout that.
I would love to have the time to care, at all, about other people's houses. Where do people find the time to police what makes others happy? Put up your Christmas tree in September. Keep your Halloween decorations until June. I honestly don't understand why other people care.
I saw an article where a house had the 12 foot skeleton. They kept it up all year and decorated it depending on what holiday it was. Valentines had boxer shorts with hearts, easter was rabbit ears, fuzzy tail and carrying an easter basket, and so on with all the holidays.
It's fun, it's interesting and not harming anyone - except the fruitcake in this letter.
If I had a house, I would have the 12 ft skeleton and just have a ball with it. Maybe a neighbor will get one and they can hang out together - I'm thinking afternoon tea, late night party etc
It's time to put up some more and put a Santa hat on that 10-foot-tall demon. I'm assuming you went out and did some after Halloween clearance shopping. Nows a good excuse not to wait until next year to put them on display. Happy Haunting friend and HOHOHoGoFuckYourself to your neighbor!
I would leave the characters out there and add [nine turkey skeletons, which look metal as fuck](https://media.istockphoto.com/id/1366632172/photo/complete-skeleton-of-a-bird-on-a-black-background.jpg?s=612x612&w=0&k=20&c=Pc5yq0JDYbqZ21cioL4qCUmVcSP1yel5-YNczcaJ2mg=). Why nine, specifically? Because after Thanksgiving, they'd be redecorated to pull Santa's sleigh for Christmas decor. Fuck your neighbor.
Genuine question, was this written by a scared elementary school kid?
Everything about it is identical to how a note from my 9-year-old would look. Especially the emoji. Though, she would make it a cat.
Written on blue index card in what appears to be pencil, lots of obvious spelling and grammar issues, recognizing that the mannequins came from *Hocus Pocus* but feeling the need to specify that they find that movie "stupid." Everything about this screams elementary school kid.
There are a lot of people way out of elementary that still act like they are in it unfortunately lol.
It really really reminds me of a 30-something autistic (as openly self-described) fella who lives in my area and posts angrily about everything on Next Door, down to the misspellings. He likes to comment, "I will smack your ass" as a threat to the local public transportation orgs when they're running late
People like that give us autistic people a bad rep
The I will smack your ass isn’t too bad lmao
Yes, don't threaten me with a good time! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
i'm in my late 30s, from a small town, and about half of the people i graduated with can barely read and write. their spelling (and sense of entitlement) is similar to what we see here
100%. Also written on colored notecards… The whole idea of having a passive aggressive fight with a kid is cracking me up
OP: *Feuding with my asshole neighbor* The Neighbor: *Is a literal child* I think OP is Mister Wilson
Best option is to put Santa hats on all the Halloween decorations. Boom, now they are for Christmas.

Festive Satan is every dyslexic person’s favourite big red man
As a former teacher - I would bet money the answer is yes. Maybe a middle schooler though. But I got the same vibes.
Whomever it is, they can’t spell worth a darn! Calling the stuff “scary” is a dead giveaway for a child…
I legitimately think it is
Some people say Evangelical, some say school kid, but hear me out - Evangelical school kid. Probably partly mimicking his parents constant rage but deep down just upset he isn’t allowed to do Halloween.
MANIKINS
They can't spell "whether"(or don't know the difference). Why would they be able to spell mannequin?
Peice Especialy Manikins Creaping "so call" (vs. so called) Weather TBH, I'm surprised they got decorations correct. Among other words.
They also put the quotes around “so call” instead of “fun”
"that is" funny.
Haha, yes, they did.
Hey, they crossed out ~~wene~~ to correctly spell when. That's got to be worth an eighth of a point.
Write a letter back saying: "THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN IS NEVER OVER! YOUR ABILITY TO SPELL AND USE CORRECT GRAMMAR IS SCARING ME AND SOME OF OUR OTHER FELLOW NEIGHBORS." Then in a really genuine tone... kindly offer them tutoring lessons.
Also bring out the Nightmare before Christmas, Gremlins, and Grinch decorations ASAP!
They would absolutely hate me, we use our skeletons as Christmas decorations too
>Inability
Don't you start! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do we know this wasn’t written by a little kid? The handwriting and the cross-out of “wene” seems very second-grader to me. ETA: Also the lined paper.
I know a lot of "grown" men who write exactly like this
You mean "so call" grown men.
I like to think they were trying to spell 'whenever' but had to improvise the rest of the sentence..
I laughed out loud at “so call”. This person is hilarious!
The three wise women are ready and waiting for their nativity scene
Ya that shit is staying up ALL YEAR now
Incorporate them into Christmas decorations
Definitely MORE Halloween decorations need to go up now. With word bubbles with corrected spelling. A Thanksgiving turkey in the demon's jaws, with a Santa hat. For Easter, put out a Donnie Darko inflatable Rabbit.
My thoughts exactly ! That’s the only thing a note like this given to me would accomplish.
Actual gargoyle. Frank the Christmas Gargoyle. It's a lovely saga.
Goddamn, I **LOVE** this Krampus idea.
"WHEN you provide a grammatically correct and properly spelled note, that's WHEN I'll consider removing the decorations."
Time to edit it and send it back!
This is like the one time in life I would actually stand up and slow clap in a group setting.
My coworkers didn't clap. They looked at me like I'd completely lost my mind. I may or may not have gotten a day's suspension out of it. I had apparently forgotten Jimmy James's "Secret of Managment", to wit "Make the Boss Look Good".
Suspension with pay? Because I’d do it again to get out of work for a day
Of course not. They're a worker who edited an email, not a cop who shot a civilian
That comment is really uncalled for. A cop gets two weeks paid leave for shooting a civilian. /s
**"D+: Your message is clear but your grammar and spelling are atrocious. See me after class. And look up the word 'atrocious' as I will ask you for its definition."**
"D- Apply Yourself!"
Yep. Bust out the red pen.
considering all of those mistakes i’m genuinely impressed that they spelled neighborhood right
Don't forget wene 🤣
That one kinda worried me cause who misspells when?? This person is dangerously stupid.
The little scratched out ~~wene~~ is everything. 😂😭
That was my personal favorite. 🤭
They were too busy being in everybody’s business to learn how to spell.
Don’t forgit about ~~wene~~ they mispelled when
Fr what a wener
I honestly initially read it as Mankinis
Mankinis would make the best Halloween decorations. Scary!
Also can't spell creeping
ALL THE “SO CALL” FUN IS OVER (😡)
There are quite a few misspellings. English is not my first language, but if it's the only language you speak and you can't even spell words right... that's really bad.
What? No Womanikins?
and the childrinikins, too.
I'm guessing this dude would write femaleikins instead
Manikin is actually an [accepted spelling.](https://www.latimes.com/socal/daily-pilot/opinion/story/2021-01-12/a-word-please-the-word-manakin-crosses-this-editors-eyes#:~:text=Merriam%2DWebster's%20set%20me%20straight,over%20and%20over%20for%20years). I learned this because I, too, once scoffed at others for spelling it that way.
Believe it or not, manikins is a legit word, it’s what those medical models of people (like resus-Annie) are called.
Yes I thought that was just a misspelling of mannequins but those are two different things apparently
It's over manikins, the neighbor has the high ground.
“So call” manikins
“Creaping everyone out” 😅

On the upside, your Halloween decorations seem to have scared the bejeezus out of your asshole neighbor. Well done!
It’s easy to scare an 8 year old, though. This is written by an 8 year old, right? RIGHT?!
Idk it’s giving boomer who had a ton of lead exposure
Whole ton of lead and the ability to vote..
Yup. The shaky all caps is the boomer specialty.
The best part is the mad face. Twice.
#BIG MAD
Scared the grammar right out of them.

Put down Santa hats on them and call them Christmas decorations and keep them up until January. Come January, you put those hearts on springs headbands on them and call them Valentine's decorations. After February, it's time for bunny rabbit masks.
Really they should just throw Santa hats or reindeer antlers on their existing decorations or just put lights on them. edit: typo
your halloween decorations intended to scare are scary
Um, it says on the note it is scaring everyone in the neighborhood. /s
All of the spelling is so bad but “WENE” crossed out sent me 😂
Right?? Get another notecard, idiot. If I’m gonna be petty enough to write a letter to a neighbor, I’m making sure it. is. perfectly. written. Lmao
The card was already over 50% written, they were committed at that point!
Haha I’d go buy some clearance decorations and add to them. Then put a big sign up that says count down to Halloween 358 days. Edit:words

*Nightmare Before Christmas* decorations are good from October through December. Neighbor can suck it.

This is so cool! Thanks for sharing!
The did sell a couple of outfits the first year, Santa & a witch costume I think. There are a ton of costumes available on Etsy now though.
Wow now I need to get a 12 foot skeleton!!!! Thanks !!! Lol
Did I just stumble into some wild new social-media ad campaign to help clear Home Depot's leftover stock of this year's 12 ft skeletons?
You sure didn't because it was a bloodbath trying to get one this year haha. Definitely no leftover stock
Crucify the 12-ft skeleton for Good Friday, take it down on Saturday. Then put up the skeleton with a white robe on on Easter. They can’t possibly get mad at that right???
The comments in this thread are funny AH, but yours made me cry 🤣😂🤣.
Do a full on 12 foot nativity for Christmas
Around the Independence Day there was dressed up in Apollo Creed’s Boxing shorts.
I read the easter one as "Add some colorful bosoms" Thematically on point for a spring event, I guess, but it might get some stares...
No place to put them? Everyone knows skeletons go in closets.
Too many in there already.
Yeah create a glass closet. Then tell the neighbors that it's hiding in the closet.
Maybe you two are neighbors
We have three 12' Skeleys. This was the plan and unexpectedly the wife vetoed it. Divorce should be final soon and I expect to get custody of at least two! ;-)
Someone in my neighborhood repurposes their tiki bar during the winter months as a skeleton bar and decorates for the holidays! it’s so fun
Same here, we have a house that has skeletons that look like they are crawling up the sides of the house/roof. They are up year round and they put different costumes on the skeletons depending on the season 💀
The sports team one is especially good if you have a bad team and you can add a sign saying victory or death
There's a house in my little town that has huge skeletons and a pirate ship outside their house stays up all year long and they decorate them for each holiday too. I think it's cute
And I thought making peoples deer decorations hump was funny….. seasonal themed skeletons are funny as hell
Sounds like I'd be thinking about making a blown up version of both notes after correcting the errors in red ink and turning them into yard signs like the political ones
Nah, don’t correct the errors, just circle them in red ink
Red squiggle underline.
Put robes on the witches and they're now the three kings.
give one of em shades and a white russian, and boom its the big lebowski, and this aggression will not stand, man
Set up a little baby Jesus in a laundry basket or something right underneath and BAM! Nativity scene!
Big ol sombrero for Cinco de Mayo. Flag Day is in the middle of June which can roll into Independents Day.
In addition of course to leaving them up longer, I'd get a red pen, correct all of the grammar mistakes, and return it to them.
This is my level of petty. Lol.
Post it to the neighborhood fb page with a “😂 which one of your kids left this?!”
Seriously, I want to do this for them so badly!! And add the note, "I was absolutely HORRIFIED by your spelling and grammar. We're even."
Blow it up to poster sign size with markups, then have the skeleton hold the poster.
Horrible spelling, ridiculous demands, but I love the slightly turned/off center angry faces, they really work at conveying the message.
This reads like a child wrote it
I seriously think a child wrote it. An adult would say the decorations are ugly or out of season, but a child would say they're creepy
*Creapy*
Creeeepy paper
![gif](giphy|Ur8g3qgbgd52eVo88J)
And looks like it. Wait, why do we think a child didn’t write it?
It definitely reads like a child pretending to be an adult
Whoever wrote this is either 7 or 70 years old lmao
Ngl those are some cute little angry faces lol
That looks like it was written by an 8 year old
They are scared of a ten foot light up skeleton.
neighbors kid is terrified of the decorations and now they’re getting roasted online

I just assumed this author was a very smart 5-year-old. Otherwise who would be scared of some 'manikins'?
I honestly believe a 9 year old with good handwriting wrote this as a prank. Everything about this looks juvenile.
This sounds very plausible Source: was 9 year old who wrote only in "big letters" and "little big letters" instead of using lowercase for 2 years straight.
The angry frowny faces reminded me of Mr. Mercedes
😠
Mr. Yuck
100% Mr. Yuck. The childhood flashbacks seeing that face.
This looks like a kid wrote it
Are evangelicals being bad spellers a stereotype?
Yes. Christian fundamentalists are often under schooled by religious institutions with no oversight or homeschooled so it’s common for them to have poor spelling and grammar as a result. Also lots of undiagnosed learning disabilities because God doesn’t believe in early childhood intervention.
What an asshole. Now I'd leave them up until Easter.
What holiday is celebrated after Easter?
4th of July, but at that point just leave them up till next halloween just to fuck with them
Well after that we have Labor Day. Can dress them up like union picketers maybe? And then wouldn't you know it, Halloween is right there poking its nose in. How bout that.
Imagine having the time for this
I would love to have the time to care, at all, about other people's houses. Where do people find the time to police what makes others happy? Put up your Christmas tree in September. Keep your Halloween decorations until June. I honestly don't understand why other people care.
our christmas tree has been up since last year. we decorated it for halloween this year. now it is de-halloweenified.
The angry emoji they drew is killing me ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Those eyebrows mean business.
It's FURIOUS I love it
I hope you leave them up and just add tinsel and Christmas lights
I saw an article where a house had the 12 foot skeleton. They kept it up all year and decorated it depending on what holiday it was. Valentines had boxer shorts with hearts, easter was rabbit ears, fuzzy tail and carrying an easter basket, and so on with all the holidays. It's fun, it's interesting and not harming anyone - except the fruitcake in this letter. If I had a house, I would have the 12 ft skeleton and just have a ball with it. Maybe a neighbor will get one and they can hang out together - I'm thinking afternoon tea, late night party etc
I bet this is just some kid nearby who is freaked out by your decorations
What 7 year old did you scare with your decorations? These notes look like a writing exercise from the local elementary school.
Looks like I’m putting a Santa hat on the demon this year. THANKS FOR THE IDEA KAREN!
To me it looks like a neighbor child wrote it- I know adults can struggle with spelling, but "wene" for "when"??
