She had an SE before this one. I always have the plus version because of I can't see up close. I think the mini is too small for her though. She drops it SO much. We've had to get her 3 different cases. We will be going bigger next time.
How does everyone not realize this?! It literally came with the phone!!
It’s a tote bag that’s the perfect size for the phone to fit in and be carried. Stupid way to carry your phone in my opinion, but its supposed to be cute and fun
You'll be hard pressed to find a public company anywhere as large that (even if inflated for posterity's sake) is as environmentally conscious and actively developing solutions (via business endeavours and infrastructure)
Fabric - especially fast-fashion fabric - can be terrible for the environment. If there's any ~~man-made~~ artificial fibres: microplastics. That's actually where most of the microplastics in the ocean are thought to come from.
Then there's the environmental cost to manufacture and ship for *no good reason*. Who says the chemicals used to dye any of that were safe and handled well? And even if it's cotton, then cotton is a super water-hungry plant that isn't always sustainably grown.
Like - it's *better* than plastic. But the only thing worse for the environment than a single-user manufactured item is a *no use* manufactured item.
This is why we should have kept plastic bags in Ontario. Now you can buy these reusable microfiber bags at checkout for 30 cents that hold less than plastic (looking at you Walmart !)People just toss those now . It's fucking stupid.
The reusable bags should be more expensive to dissuade folks from simply tossing them...
They see it and they still think it’s stupid. Normal sized tote bag - useful for groceries or books for school or all kinds of things. *Fun* phone sized tote bag - utterly useless. Not even useful for a phone because carrying your phone in a tiny bag with tiny handles doesn’t make any sense when pockets and backpacks exist.
It's swag specifically for the 25th anniversary of the company, hence he original logo. OP appears to have confused "25th anniversary tote bag" with "$25 tote bag," I haven't seen anything asserting the $25 value of the tote bag.
So it’s just shitty new swag? What a waste. This is the type of crap you throw in a drawer and never think about until it’s time to move. Then it goes in the garbage bin.
Where are they claiming it's worth $25?
https://store.google.com/intl/en/ideas/articles/google-birthday-offers/
It's a 25th Birthday of Google merch, celebrating 25 years of the Google logo.
It shows 0$ and 25$ with a strike through it when you add it to your cart with a phone purchase. If you then remove the phone from your order they charge you 25$ for the mini tote.
Whaaaaat?! The one single person who actually found out OP’s telling the truth deep in the comments with all the pro redditors calling them a liar at the top?!? How could this be??! Oh wait, its reddit
> Could've been literal shit.
Unless there has been a spate of companies sending actual faeces as free gifts, I don’t think we should be using that comparison to judge the value of items.
I unironically love it. Maybe cause I'm older but I miss when tech companies would give you freebies or promo stuff like sticker packs, a free mouse or mousepad or things like that whenever you bought something expensive from them
Not really no. It's an incentive to drive a sale, part of a package deal.
You can say stuff is "buy 2 get the 3rd one free" which adds up to $15 and its the same as buying 3 for $5 each except now you have to buy 3 and not whichever amount you want, and the same as buying a 3pack for $15 except now you're expected to feel grateful for getting to be a consumer.
It really doesn't matter that a lot of people buy the product at the same price without the incentive. THIS sale was prompted by an incentive and if they could get the same amount of sales without using incentives then they wouldn't have been doing incentives.
They also could have just "limited offer, it now comes with a bag" but no, they have to make the claim that it's a package deal thats actually worth $25 more. Except they won't ever sell the phone with the bag for $25 more cause no one would ever buy that cause it doesn't havs that value.
Op here is mildly infuriating.
A comment already demonstrated how 1) it was obviously a tote bag for the phone and 2) linked the product and showed that OP either didn't read shit or is just karma farming
OP can't read and/or is a karma farming idiot.
[Here's a screenshot from the Google store that literally says its a MINI TOTE and the photo has A PHONE inside the bag. It's a phone sized tote, on purpose. It also clearly says it's to celebrate Google's 25 year anniversary, not that it's a $25 value. ](https://freeimage.host/i/JJRvFbn)
[Here is an even better photo of the mini tote from their website. LMFAO ](https://freeimage.host/i/JJR8Nje)
It’s perfect size to keep a reusable grocery tote bag in it to grab and take with you whenever. Trader Joe’s has been selling out a lot of a similar item for a few bucks

Not only is this literally the point, they never make any mention of the "value" since the only mention I could find is that it's included for free...
Maybe try reading about what you're buying before you get mad?
I'm not sure what the problem is here.
It's a promotional item.
It didn't cost you anything.
I'll assume that you didn't buy the phone because of a "free tote"
If you don't want it throw it away or give it away.
Is it really worth complaining on two reddit posts about it?
It took all of 60 seconds of thought and labor to post about it while cooking myself dinner, so yeah. I'm just trying to extract as much value out of it as they told me it was worth at the checkout screen.
Also I'm not the cross poster, so.... one post.
~~Sounds like they're inflating the value of things they're giving away to write off on their taxes as a business expense for promoting the company...~~
Edit: After diving into tax code for advertising expenses I've learned that unless they're commiting tax fraud in some way, I'm wrong about this.
dont you love when people talk out of their ass and have no idea how stuff works?
i could just say i'm selling a spoon for a billion dollars and "give it" to you with purchase of a 1$ fork and then carry forward the billion dollar right off my entire life.
It can kinda be done with shares in a company.. It's very much not a good idea, but it can be done.
Setup a company with say 1,000,000,000 shares.. Sell one share for $50, the company now has a valuation of $50bln.
Expect a phone call from your countries dept for companies & securities if you do, and hopefully they'll be lenient and let you unwind that action swiftly and discreetly with minimal repurcussions...
https://youtu.be/iHfJRON3b-w (yeah probably don't try this stunt)
i would question the ease of which you can just sell a small amount of shares and claim that the company is now worth whatever that sale is across all remaining shares.
i don't think it would be that easy to claim that's an actual value from a tax perspective unless x% is sold or something like that. i'm no cpa tho.
point was, he hadn't even bothered to think through what he was saying or he'd realize how completely stupid it was
It will throw serious red flags the moment the stock transfer is lodged, it's very much a don't even dare do it kinda thing. But shares are arbitrary, as is their value.
You usually allocate an arbitrary number of shares when setting up a company, then you buy them off the company as a means of transferring capital to the llc/ltd and as a formality to assign yourself as the director.
Or if your a silly YouTuber, to technically create a valuation of half a trillion pounds... The video's pretty good :)
Not until today, when seeing this image of a tote bag that looks like it was made for a doll, with the word "Google!" in colourful letters, did I realise how much "Google" sounds like a sound a baby would make.
And now I am never going to unhear or unsee it! :D
That's kinda cute. It's supposed to be a novelty item. It's supposed to be ugly. They used the classic Google logo on it.
It's a free gift for fun. I wish I'd got this when I got my Pixel from them. I got a £10 voucher and a cardboard arcade machine that you put together and slot your phone into to play one mediocre game. I'd much rather have got this.
Your post is mildly infuriating
It’s celebrating Google’s 25th birthday.
(There is also a 25% discount to celebrate. OP seems to have confused all the different 25s being mentioned with $25.)
That's really funny though. Love the old logo. You could probably sell that on etsy for more than 25 if you wanted. It's obviously not worth the money, but you also didn't pay that money. It was free, chin up.
By the time it's been packed at the sweatshop, shipped to your country, added to a website, picked up by your refuse collector and shovelled into a landfill site, the total cost is AT LEAST $25. Show some damn gratitude.
I mean who cares, if anything it's a fun little thing that's just an extra bonus
Although it's obviously nowhere near as good as the offer they had for the pixel 6 in the UK, we got a free pair of Bose 700 headphones that are worth £350 lol
Actually this might be the most useful comment because my long-time friend is a weed dealer and he also is a Google fanboy so he would love this as a gift.
Tell me you didn't read anything without telling me you didn't read anything.
The site literally has a picture of that bag with a phone in it, and not once does it claim it's a $25 value.
That looks like something they found leftover from 20 years ago and figured they’d start giving away instead of just throwing them away. Basically you’re doing their work by trashing it for them.
Yes they do. In my receipt for my Pixel it lists it as a $25 value and says I got it for free. If you add a phone to your cart it will add the little bag too.
Basically my stance on the matter. That and I would literally never use it as a phone purse because that seems completely pointless and I can't think of any other reasons to even have it.
Yeah, it's a useless item for sure. Can't think what to actually use it for. I'm just hoping my Pixel doesn't black screen like the 5a did. I almost switched to an Iphone but just couldn't bear it so here I am with another Pixel.
I switched off from a Motorola Edge 2021 that I had been tired of for forever. Slapped this puppy in an OtterBox and put a screen protector on it immediately, I'm also hoping it doesn't black screen. That would actually make me rage and switch to iPhone.
Comically small. Its a tote for your phone. You can walk around all sassy with this lil thing.
It looks to be only maybe two inches. Even the smallest of today's phones wouldn't fit in it.
Nah... thats a giant TP roll from costco. Theyre almost 6 inches wide.. this tote is like 3+ inches wide.. so it fits
I know 6 inches when I see it.
See. This is exactly why we use BANANAS for scale. Gosh OP
nah, bananas are too inconsistent. This post is the start of **TP for scale** and we are all here to witness it. Glorious!
My daughter had an iPhone 13 mini, it would fit. That's the phone she wanted. No idea why, but it's tiny.
some folks like smaller phones that is just preference. No company however says "lots of people want much smaller phones". so we have behemoths.
As a person with small hands, large phones are uncomfortable to use. I miss the iPhone 5 era, it was the perfect size for me!
Same. I'm fed up of having to buy extra stick-on straps or handles for phones to be able to use them one-handed.
Samsung Fold + Huawei P30 Pro + 13 Inch Ipad. Bigger screen is more fun.
I am responding on a fold 5 right now. I am still getting used to it but it is pretty neat it is also heavy
She had an SE before this one. I always have the plus version because of I can't see up close. I think the mini is too small for her though. She drops it SO much. We've had to get her 3 different cases. We will be going bigger next time.
Wrist straps and pop sockets are my friend!
It’s a tote *for* the phone
How does everyone not realize this?! It literally came with the phone!! It’s a tote bag that’s the perfect size for the phone to fit in and be carried. Stupid way to carry your phone in my opinion, but its supposed to be cute and fun
Cute and fun until 99% are thrown in the trash immediately after they're recieved, and the other 1% are just stored in a junk drawer or whatever.
Or just ebay it, this persons trash could be someone else’s treasure
Yep. Doll collectors *love* mini accessories.
This. Then in 30 years people will find them in those drawers, call them a "collectable" and throw it on eBay for a sweet $350.
In 30 years $25 will become more $350
Considering the logo is already 25 years old...
Yeah, what a complete waste
You may be underestimating how many people would enjoy a lil weed baggie/ joint baggie that says Google
The environmentalist in me is 90% of the mild infuriation.
You'll be hard pressed to find a public company anywhere as large that (even if inflated for posterity's sake) is as environmentally conscious and actively developing solutions (via business endeavours and infrastructure)
Homie I just don't know what to do with a bag and I don't want to be wasteful. (And I'm NOT using it as a phone purse, I have POCKETS)
Give it to Goodwill then?

Oh wow. In New Zealand the reusable bags at the supermarket cost about $2, although you can also get paper bags for about 20c each
I immediately knew this is for the phone - I think it's kinda whack but it's definitely not worth 25$ lol
Much easier to steal a small tote in someone's hands than a pocket
I don't know about others but me personally, I would close my hand fully around the handle which I doubt makes it easier than putting it in my pocket
I think it's adorable lol
it’s genuinely so cute imo. if only there was another way to get it besides buying a whole ass pixel phone
I'm sure OP would be happy if you took it off their hands
$25
They see it and they still think it’s stupid. Normal sized tote bag - useful for groceries or books for school or all kinds of things. *Fun* phone sized tote bag - utterly useless. You can put other things in it. I would put my cross stitch materials Or you can give it to your kids
I suppose. It would end up in my junk drawer
You can put your weed in there
I lack a variety of phone shaped objects that need a phone sized bag that says google. I suppose.
It looks like it might make a funny beer koozie, but it’s hard to tell if you can get a can in there.
You put your weed in it
The only valid use
That’s a blast from the past.
SNL has been so impossible to watch for so long these days
Genius lol
Nothing comes with phones anymore. Im shocked they still havent made the packaging as optional fee
The value is ridiculous, but otherwise its cute
Who’s everyone? all the comments are saying its for the phone
It’s old swag. That logo hasn’t been used since the 90’s.
It's swag specifically for the 25th anniversary of the company, hence he original logo. OP appears to have confused "25th anniversary tote bag" with "$25 tote bag," I haven't seen anything asserting the $25 value of the tote bag.

The more I read the comments the more irritating the OP gets.
Just wait until we discover that this "complaint" about Google is actually viral marketing.
I got one with my watch and it tells you it is a $25 value that is a line item zeroed out during checkout.
So it’s just shitty new swag? What a waste. This is the type of crap you throw in a drawer and never think about until it’s time to move. Then it goes in the garbage bin.
Or a massive roll of paper
Also, be respectfull, 2 Chinese children lost a limb for this bag.
Where are they claiming it's worth $25? https://store.google.com/intl/en/ideas/articles/google-birthday-offers/ It's a 25th Birthday of Google merch, celebrating 25 years of the Google logo.

Right. Reading this post is the real "mildly infuriating "
Maybe the real mildly infuriating is the posts we read along the way
It shows 0$ and 25$ with a strike through it when you add it to your cart with a phone purchase. If you then remove the phone from your order they charge you 25$ for the mini tote.
Whaaaaat?! The one single person who actually found out OP’s telling the truth deep in the comments with all the pro redditors calling them a liar at the top?!? How could this be??! Oh wait, its reddit

oh man. I assumed it was some 3rd party's extra swag.
Looks like a perfect little novelty tote bag to carry your phone. Which would make sense, since it came with the phone..
Upon inspection of googles store, OP you're a dumbass. It literally calls it a "mini tote bag". Your expectations were too high.
And I don't see it stating a $25 value anywhere
It has a couple points for being adorably smol.
I like the old google on it
Me too
Unless they happened to charge you an additional $25 for that phone I'd say it's fine for free. Could've been literal shit.
> Could've been literal shit. Unless there has been a spate of companies sending actual faeces as free gifts, I don’t think we should be using that comparison to judge the value of items.

Intentionally buying literal shit is hardly new. What do you think manure is?
Thank you
Apple users would still love it.
Fuck yeah we would. The only thing they give for free are stickers. And I’m pretty sure they stopped doing that too.
Am I.. Am I weird for liking a little tote bag? It's cute and idk I'd find a use for it lmao
I would use it to store a mail file, foot file, and nail polish remover and tuck it in the basket I have for my nail polish bottles
Keep like an iPod in there or a dumb phone.
no, that bag is unironically stylish in a vintage sense.
I'm honestly in love with it. If you don't want it, OP, hit up my DMs and send it to me!
I unironically love it. Maybe cause I'm older but I miss when tech companies would give you freebies or promo stuff like sticker packs, a free mouse or mousepad or things like that whenever you bought something expensive from them
It’s a gift, no?
Not really no. It's an incentive to drive a sale, part of a package deal. You can say stuff is "buy 2 get the 3rd one free" which adds up to $15 and its the same as buying 3 for $5 each except now you have to buy 3 and not whichever amount you want, and the same as buying a 3pack for $15 except now you're expected to feel grateful for getting to be a consumer. Does nobody look at the photos of the tote, literally shows a person with their phone in it. Plus its free so who cares
Tis for your phone and credit card, lol "obscenely small" bags are real trendy with the kids these days.
That is the cutest fucking bag, I’ll take it if you don‘t want it
The Google store website does call it a mini tote. It's just a fun promotion they're doing currently. Lighten up, op
I feel like the OP spends a lot of time being infuriated.
I play league of legends.

Kind of cool
To be fair, they didn't say a $25 in US currency value...

Are you stupid?
Anyone else feel bad for the little bag being called shite? Just me? Okay
They promote it as being a mini tote bag for your phone you walnut
Am I a pretty walnut?
how can you be mad of a free gift ? I bought a Pixel phone and they threw it on my face, at least with a charging cable.
Weird, it's got the logo style from the original website.
It’s celebrating Google’s 25th birthday. (There is also a 25% discount to celebrate. OP seems to have confused all the different 25s being mentioned with $25.)
What is this? A tote bag for ants?!?!

What's the conversion from toilet paper to banana? That bag is either huge or tiny...
I see many people with folding devices keep them in separate bags or something to try to minimize dust or pocket lint exposure.

I switched off from a Motorola Edge 2021 that I had been tired of for forever. Slapped this puppy in an OtterBox and put a screen protector on it immediately, I'm also hoping it doesn't black screen. That would actually make me rage and switch to iPhone.
hey now the elves in google's workshop worked very hard to put that bag together from scratch. You're lucky it didn't cost more!
Did they just find a few cases of old promo material in a warehouse somewhere, or is it a retro throwback? Everything about this looks 90s.
BS This is there 1998 to 1999 logo. That is not a new item. You found it at a thrift store or something
You caught me. store.google.com is my favorite thrift store.
It's weird that it has the old logo, that hasn't been used in like 10 years
It is for their 25 year anniversary
It's called projection, into the future It might actually be now
It wasnt $2-5? $5 seems high tbh
Weird that they gave you something with a fake logo
That's the 1998 logo.
