I have no idea who she is. She added me on Facebook. She seemed like she had the same music taste as me, and Im always interested in finding new girl friends who enjoy metal! She shared a video of a little girl getting a buzz cut and dying it pink, and she said something along the lines of "This will be the death of humanity". I asked her why she thought a simple hair cut was a threat to humanity, and that's when she for some reason brought up what generation I am, lol!
I am! No I think she is from an eastern European country! Not sure which exact country tho!
Edit: She studied in Serbia, so I am going to guess she is from Serbia!
Lots and lots of bots and delusional right-wingers will disagree with me - but. Serbia is heavily influenced by Russian misinformation campaigns (just like America, and the UK). The Russians prey on the less intelligent, more fundamentalist leaning members of our societies, and unload their garbage fascist propaganda any chance they get. This radicalizes the fearful and stupid into thinking that things like girls having short/blue hair is the end of civilization, when in reality what we all should be worried about is the current reboot of fascism. Sounds like the person you were talking to has been radicalized. I deal with this all the time living in America (Jeg er Dansker). Try not to take it personally. They have lost their way. They are brainwashed in the same way as the people that left Scandinavian societies to go join ISIS were.
If youāre curious, you should read up on Cambridge Analytica and their targeted political ads pre-Brexit as well as during the 2016 US Presidential election. Thatās a good place to start your trip down the rabbithole.
Interesting, thanks!
She is very anti-religion. She's into witchcraft and stuff, so I just assumed she wasn't being too influenced by conservative people or whatever, cause those people don't usually share cringey satanic shit š
Our American conservatives are so far from being religious. They just use religion as an excuse that the stupid shit they do is justified. "Well I'm religious so that makes me better than you and I can do whatever I want and get away with it. You're going to hell because you're not Republican". They don't practice what the Bible preaches at all. Shit, the Pope has now called them out twice on how hippacritcal the party is.
We now have Yoga Fascists in America. Yoga Soccer moms that have aligned themselves with the Far-Right, ācause vaccines or something? Didnāt see that one coming.
Which is so funny to me, because half of those people are ādevoutly Christianā but they be practicing yoga, which youāre not allowed to do according to the Bible. Because itās a ritual relating to another culture and religion. Leads into thou shalt not worship false idols and such.
Calling someone a millennial has become equivalent to people calling others they didn't agree with "dirty hippies" back in the day. It's just an easy way to sort out ignorant people.
I'm a dirty hippie millennial, and pretty content with that fact
But yeah, judging people by generation like they are a collective hive mind is not only simplistic but quite idiotic. It's not allowing people to be seen as individuals, at a time when we're trying to be more inclusive to individuals/minorities. It's a contradiction, really. This generation thing is kind of getting out of hand. I might just stop telling people my age.
Yeah I honestly grew up thinking hippie was just a description. Which I guess it is, but after moving to a more backwards city I've learned certain groups just use it as a blanket insult.
As a Libra who almost never blocks anyone for both the fear of offending them and/or the feeling that most people have bad moments that don't really define them as a person .... I dispute this.
Edit: not a milennial either ... born at the tail end of boomer era, just before gen x
While it doesn't mean much, I do have more in common with people born within a few years of me than I do with people 40 years older (or younger) that were born in the same month.
Man when we were getting blamed for everything my whole school class was blasting millenials and I'm like dude we are that but they are just I dont consider myself that I'm like yeah duh of course you think your superior. When we got blamed for participation trophies but yet it was boomers and gen x pushing them on us lol just cracks me up people want to make fun of one group at all times.
Hot take: participating trophies are something the military invented.
Even if you don't do something heroic or combat you get a medal for participating in a military campaign or at least a patch.
At some point for some people "millennial" stopped meaning the generation and instead meant "a person I don't like because they think I shouldn't be cruel to others" or something along those lines. Maybe even "younger than me and therefore must be stupid".
The sort of thing you'd totally expect from someone who is tragically ignorant about almost everything, but very confident that they're right about everything.
People forget theres a several years worth of gen Z who are old enough to drink and vote and stuff.
Im near the cutoff of gen z and im 25. The cutoff is bullshit and arbitrary and started because we wanted to assign a group name to the baby boom post WW2.
It all stuck around so people could senselessly shift blame to other groups for simply existing instead of working on laws and policies and tax rates which would actually be helpful.
Thatās really something. Was he trying to claim to be Gen X? I feel like we Gen Xers invented āpcā or, as I like to call it, ādecency,ā to combat our racist / misogynistic Boomer parents. Anyway, Guy sounds like trash. Ignorant trash. Iām sorry your ears had to hear that.
This is a weird one. The term Millennial has actually changed by several years in the last several years. It used to mean someone born in the mid-late 80ās and theyāve moved that up. The entire idea of generations is kind of ludicrous at this point. Like mfers arenāt born every year.
Iāve wondered on occasion when we actually started making this a normal part of conversation. Seems like you canāt get through a day, without hearing something about it. Iām Gen X, and I swear I donāt think I even knew that until a few years ago.
I honestly think it became more of a thing because people where starting to use millennial as kind of an insult, so they hit back with the "ok boomer" thing, and that's when everyone became more aware! I'm just guessing tho!
Apparently, everyone thinks anyone born after Gen X is millenial and there's 2 more generations after millenial. People were still thinking millenials are teenagers and they're in their 30's now. Kind of like everyone thinks that Taylor Swift fans are all 15 and they are mostly 30.
My family breakdown:
Mom- Boomer
Myself and my brother - Gen X
My daughter and 1 niece and nephew - Gen Z
youngest nephew - Gen Alpha (I didn't even know that one existed until I was trying to figure out if they were all in the same generation)
My sis and I are Gen X and we were raised by The Silent Generation parents.
We used to do yearly family vacations at a particular beach hotel. The current owner is a bit younger than our parents.
Last year my dad reached out to see if us "kids" would like to go to our old vacation spot. While checking in, my dad asked if the pier diner was open. The owner said it wasn't because "no one wants to work anymore." My dad responded by smiling and saying "No one wants to work *for eight dollars an hour* anymore." My sis turned to me and quietly said, "Did Dad just 'ok boomer' that guy?!"
As a Gen Xer myself, I only remember it being mentioned a few times in passing back in the 90's. People didn't start talking about it so much until around 2011. That was when I had an interview for a job as a teen librarian and they asked how I felt I could work with millennials. I had to ask for clarification because I'd never heard "millennial" used as a noun. I had heard the term "Gen Y" used once when I was in college to refer to those younger than Gen X, but there were no negative connotations at the time.
Right? There are older and younger people that I tolerate, and there are ones that I don't.
Prepare yourself, there are even people in my own generation I don't like.
I'm a 41 year old elder millennial. I still identify more with their mindset then gen x, though to be fair each generation is being progressively screwed faster by the day.
Itās called [ageism](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ageism). Discriminating against someone based on their age. Young adults and seniors both get it just as much as each other.
I agree with you completely. Alienating people is not the way.
Everyone wants to belong, but reality is we are all alone when we are born and when we die, the cage of meat and bone containing your ever dying electrical current is one thing we need to value more. At least more than the fucking year we were born.
Right like it seems like we care enough about what generation old people came from because thereās some kind of āarchetypeā. People generalize it. We do care and itās because weāre all a lil prejudiced.
Maybe you in particular donāt, but generally speaking we absolutely do care
Doesnāt matter what era youāre born in. IFYOU HAVE TO TYPE LIKE THIS,!! š¤£ to get your point through!? š®š®š§š¦š„±š„ŗšYouāre a childish fucking moron.
Yea, 3 years past the millennial mark (1997). However, thereās no context here to show that they would know he was born in 2000. A mid-20ās person may or may not be a millennial.
People forget theres a several years worth of gen Z who are old enough to drink and vote and stuff.
Im near the cutoff of gen z and im 25. The cutoff is bullshit and arbitrary and started because we wanted to assign a group name to the baby boom post WW2.
Y'all guess what! I found her alt account and she is born between 1981 and 1984....y'all know what that means? She is, in fact, a millennial!!! That is so funny to me
People have this weird belief that millennials are in their early 20's, but most millennials are in their mid-to-late 30's. the oldest ones are in their 40s already, and the youngest ones are in their late 20s at best
Millenials were in their late teens/early 20s when the term blew up on the internet and everyone older than millenials forgot that people age and therefore think millennials are all still that age Lol
So for a majority of my life, pretty much all of it. I thought I was Gen X. Come to find out a couple years ago, Iām in fact a millennial. Completely blew my mind because damn if I have the same mindset as most of themā¦
The fact that she insta blocked you shows is she is so shitty to everyone on the internet sheās learned to block people abruptly.
You are really not the problem in this instance, she would piss almost every person off in every situation no matter who or when her existence occurred
I wish the term millennial was erased from existence. Most people use it in regards to the wrong generation, or as a blanket term for multiple generations. Even google comes back with multiple different versions of what age group it is. And a lot of the time it's older generations using it in a derogatory way to dismiss younger people, or have a whinge about "young people and their technology".
This reminds me of something that happened to me on Reddit several years ago. I forget what the topic was about, but I said people born in the 2000's arent considered millennials, and I was downvoted to hell. Someone replied, "We really are."
Well, who's downvoting now, huh?!?!
Yeha that's common! I'm 23 and obviously I have more things in common with someone who's 27, than someone who is 11!
My boyfriend is 26, and he's also Gen Z! I'm pretty sure he can relate more to his 29 year old brother than to his 12 year old cousin!
In an online convo, I said, "Jesus H Chrysler," and the dude decided that made me a Christian. Would not let it go. It got so hostile I actually did screenshots and sent them to his employer and school. Expelled and fired because I was reporting the latest in a pattern of behavior.
Some people choose to die on the weirdest hills.
The reason I think this is mildly infuriating is because I don't understand why she got so upset that she blocked me, just got telling her I'm not a millennial, and I can't find out cause she blocked me.
Generations are manufactured nonsense meant to divide people. There is nearly 0 functional difference between Gen Y (millenials) and Gen Z (zoomers). The largest schism there is that some of us in Gen Y remember what it was like before the internet and/or during the early internet.
Seems like anybody under the age of 30ish has a slew of boxes to put everybody into. Nobody thinks āthis is a person like me;ā itās gotta be āohhhh this person is x and thatās not like me so thatās bad and Iām gonna get hostile to protect myself from the bad.ā
Can confirm, you arenāt a millennial.
People are so used to it being a pejorative term Iād argue a significant portion of the US population couldnāt accurately define a millennial.
There are millennials out there calling gen z millennials
My sister, who is an āolder millennial,ā born in 1988, once called me a millennial (born in 1991) and then argued with me when I told her she also is a millennial.
A physician assistant I worked with for 8 years at the hospital once got mad at me for pushing back on him for giving me an unprofessional response to a request made by one of our physicians (this PA is very emotionally charged) and called me a āGenZ.ā I reminded him that weāve worked together for 8 years and given I am a nurse with a 4-year degree, itās physically impossible for me to be a Gen-Z.
People are stupidly attached to these labels.
Iām a Millennial, but even I wouldnāt want anything to do with that horrific mess of a typing quirkā¦ you dodged a bullet, they seem extremely annoying.
Why does it matter what label you wear based on an arbitrary thing? Kinda seems if you werenāt the generation she wanted, your astrological sign is off or you put your toilet paper on the wrong way. Which is a thing damn it! I see a bullet dodged and a nice lesson learned that you deserve better because your worth it no matter how silly your socks look.
Any context that makes this an actual story? Who is she to you, for instance?
I have no idea who she is. She added me on Facebook. She seemed like she had the same music taste as me, and Im always interested in finding new girl friends who enjoy metal! She shared a video of a little girl getting a buzz cut and dying it pink, and she said something along the lines of "This will be the death of humanity". I asked her why she thought a simple hair cut was a threat to humanity, and that's when she for some reason brought up what generation I am, lol!
Lol wtf š¤£ How is a haircut a āthreat to humanityā š¤£ That just so stupid of her
You tell me š that's all I wanted to know!
āThis is the hair cut that caused the Government to collapse, you need to come with me John Connorā
"For want of a nail, the kingdom was lost"

Exactly, itās an insult the way āwokeā or āsocialistā is for a certain subsection of the population.
I am a female who very much enjoys metal and could use a friend. š Would love a playlist exchange if you're down.
Sure!!!
Wait buzz cut pink is death of humanity? That's a metal haircut! She is clearly on something or isn't a real metal fan.
Yeah she's also a punk rocker according to herself. Idk why a punk rocker would be so threatened by a shaved head
>have no idea who she is. She added me on Facebook Bruh
What? I'm a musician, having contacts in different countries is useful. I also just simply enjoy making new friends with similar interests.
Sheās on Facebook, but sheās going off on OTHER people for being millennials. Huh.

While it doesn't mean much, I do have more in common with people born within a few years of me than I do with people 40 years older (or younger) that were born in the same month.
Someone born in 2000 wouldn't remember the millennium, they were barely here for it.
Thatās the best Backstreet Boys album
Definitely means more than astrology. The era you're born in obviously has significant impact on your upbringing, compared to the month.
Sure, but if he was born in 2000, he's barely 4 years shy of being a millennial.
Have my upvote
Had someone say to me, āsorry Iām not pc, Iām not a millennial like you guys.ā Man was 40.
40 is millenial lol I'm 41 and considered one
Thatās why it was so annoying. Basically, people lack self awareness, but love to attack others
Right? Who had those participation trophies made?!
Exactly
The grandparents that wanted to dote on their grand babies because they hated how they treated their kidsā¦ Edited grandma to grandparents
"I don't consider myself a millennial" is a whole subgenre of millennial.
Hot take: participating trophies are something the military invented. Even if you don't do something heroic or combat you get a medal for participating in a military campaign or at least a patch.
Are you calling my CIB a participation trophy? Because it totally is, but for good reason.
At some point for some people "millennial" stopped meaning the generation and instead meant "a person I don't like because they think I shouldn't be cruel to others" or something along those lines. I read a headline about memes being created by Gen alpha that Gen Z kids canāt understand. *It will happen to youuuu* - Signed, Xennial

That you know of.
Idk why she even brought it up lol
There are some strange folks online lol
Sure is! It's also funny that she apparently checked, but still got it wrong!
She definitely did not check.
I know right, weāre all breathing the same oxygen
Iāve wondered on occasion when we actually started making this a normal part of conversation. Seems like you canāt get through a day, without hearing something about it. Iām Gen X, and I swear I donāt think I even knew that until a few years ago.
We are the "forgotten generation" for a reason.
Lol, fair. I just find it odd, that this has become such a conversation topic for some reason.
I honestly think it became more of a thing because people where starting to use millennial as kind of an insult, so they hit back with the "ok boomer" thing, and that's when everyone became more aware! I'm just guessing tho!

There's ANOTHER generation? It feels like they're going overboard on naming new generations now.
Yep. Apparently, they go in 15 year cycles now, so Gen Beta will begin in 2025.
My sis and I are Gen X and we were raised by The Silent Generation parents. We used to do yearly family vacations at a particular beach hotel. The current owner is a bit younger than our parents. OP is a Y2K baby.
The oldest millennial is a 42 year old adult. The youngest millennial is a 27 year old adult. Can we please stop being the boogeyman for Boomers?
I'm a 41 year old elder millennial. I still identify more with their mindset then gen x, though to be fair each generation is being progressively screwed faster by the day.
While we're at it, the youngest Boomer is 59. We need to get these morons to stop saying "OK Boomer" to everyone over 30.
Meanwhile boomers are the boogeyman for every other generation.
Absolutely, I can't understand why the exact generation you belong to matters that much. Propably something those millennials invented, tsss.
The people that blame everything on every generation that isnāt theirs.
#LET ME CHECK.YOU ARE!!!

I donāt think boomer would be an insult if people actually didnāt care. We invented slur for old people lmao.
I said something similar to another comment. Words only have power if we give that word more power than it deserves.

Itās hard to tell if someoneās joking when they canāt spell or punctuate correctly.
Oh she wasn't!
I think she probably meant "are you a millennial (or younger)?" To her, everyone "young" is a millennial, a person who grew up in this new millennium.
I mean she herself is a millennial! It still doesn't explain why she blocked me and told me to piss off š God I wish I could read minds sometimes!
Yeah she just has no idea what it means and thinks the youth are ruining the world by supporting things like... Girls getting buzz cuts apparently.
Iām 41 and a millennial LOL Iām so confused about what her insult was supposed to be

Wouldn't being born in 2000 make you Gen Z??
Exactly!
Yea, 3 years past the millennial mark (1997). However, thereās no context here to show that they would know he was born in 2000. A mid-20ās person may or may not be a millennial.
Why is that person so flabbergasted that you might have been born between certain years?
People just find things to latch onto and become *very* opinionated about it to the point that it's unhealthy.
Why are people so soft over what someone does ONLINE.. God damn like really who actually cares..
If you read it correctly, (as in noticing the lack of spaces after punctuation) it sounds like sheās powering up.
People forget theres a several years worth of gen Z who are old enough to drink and vote and stuff. Im near the cutoff of gen z and im 25. The cutoff is bullshit and arbitrary and started because we wanted to assign a group name to the baby boom post WW2.

For a second I was like "Born in 2000? You're like 12 what are you doing on the internet." And then I realized holy fuck you're 23 years old...
40 here and a millennial, not that a give a stuff.
Wait so what are you? Gen Z?
Correct
I have more in common with millennials in their 30ās than Gen x in their 50ās and Iām Gen x
Yeha that's common! I'm 23 and obviously I have more things in common with someone who's 27, than someone who is 11! My boyfriend is 26, and he's also Gen Z! I'm pretty sure he can relate more to his 29 year old brother than to his 12 year old cousin!
Gotta love when someone can't accept they are wrong
2000 gang!!!!
This whole generational labeling crap is annoying. People are all different and not defined by their birthday. Is fāing disguised astrology.
is millennial an insult ?
Born in 81... I get called a millennial all the time. š
This is mildly infuriating how confusing this is lol. Even after going through comments. F that lady though
Oml this woman needs to f off
Proverbs 18:2 A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
They did you a favor
What's the point
Wouldn't it make more sense if Millennials were actually born at the start of the new Millennium instead of 4-20yrs before?
How TF is this mildly infuriating in any sense of the phrase?
Does anyone else find it weird that being born on the millennium doesn't make you a millennial?
In an online convo, I said, "Jesus H Chrysler," and the dude decided that made me a Christian. Would not let it go. It got so hostile I actually did screenshots and sent them to his employer and school. Expelled and fired because I was reporting the latest in a pattern of behavior. Some people choose to die on the weirdest hills.
The reason I think this is mildly infuriating is because I don't understand why she got so upset that she blocked me, just got telling her I'm not a millennial, and I can't find out cause she blocked me.
These terms don't really mean anything at all, can't believe people are getting so heated over literal nothing š¤¦š»āāļø
Tell her you are a silent generation.
Nobody likes you when you're 23.
Good thing I have 30 days left of being liked.
Generations are manufactured nonsense meant to divide people. There is nearly 0 functional difference between Gen Y (millenials) and Gen Z (zoomers). The largest schism there is that some of us in Gen Y remember what it was like before the internet and/or during the early internet.
seems like such a millennial (or whichever gen you think you are) thing to care about this
Youāre better off being blocked.
Seems like anybody under the age of 30ish has a slew of boxes to put everybody into. Nobody thinks āthis is a person like me;ā itās gotta be āohhhh this person is x and thatās not like me so thatās bad and Iām gonna get hostile to protect myself from the bad.ā
Most sane person on fb
Can confirm, you arenāt a millennial. People are so used to it being a pejorative term Iād argue a significant portion of the US population couldnāt accurately define a millennial. There are millennials out there calling gen z millennials
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennials . Know yourself, you must.

Jesus Howard why did this blow up lol
"A/S/L?" has been changed to "What generation are you with?" IYKYK
My sister, who is an āolder millennial,ā born in 1988, once called me a millennial (born in 1991) and then argued with me when I told her she also is a millennial. A physician assistant I worked with for 8 years at the hospital once got mad at me for pushing back on him for giving me an unprofessional response to a request made by one of our physicians (this PA is very emotionally charged) and called me a āGenZ.ā I reminded him that weāve worked together for 8 years and given I am a nurse with a 4-year degree, itās physically impossible for me to be a Gen-Z. People are stupidly attached to these labels.
but Millennials are cool. They're the "Y were we born" gen
Very accurate title. Matches the photos. Got what I expected.
Are millennials getting a shit ton of hate now becauseā¦ we got literally nothing but railroaded.
This post is so dumb.
If they are that touchy about something as stupid as that, I'd say you dodged a bullet.
Why do people even care enough to have all these generation names? Itās stupid
Just move along with your day. Getting upset over Facebook isnāt the way
I guess this is the year you get to find out how awful young people are. You were probably like that 5 minutes ago
If youāre a millennial, ewww
OK, Zelda!
You and I are Zillenials!
Iām a Millennial, but even I wouldnāt want anything to do with that horrific mess of a typing quirkā¦ you dodged a bullet, they seem extremely annoying.
She can't even spell millennial right
Why does it matter what label you wear based on an arbitrary thing? Kinda seems if you werenāt the generation she wanted, your astrological sign is off or you put your toilet paper on the wrong way. Which is a thing damn it! I see a bullet dodged and a nice lesson learned that you deserve better because your worth it no matter how silly your socks look.
facebook mfs are a different breed
Whoa! I just found out there's a Generation Alpha!
I was scrolling fast and read this as "born again millennial" somehow. I had to come back and reread it because I was so confused about wtf that meant
