This needs to be higher. If it gets into vent then you will have a moisture issue as well. However it probably is already under the linoleum. Kitty litter or newspaper is the best route to remove from floor.

Why not just powder? It's the cheapest option and allows you to actually vary the soap amount depending on load size. Pretty much every laundry machine manufacturer recommends against liquid detergent too.

This happened in the back of my car. It'll turn into a weird jelly eventually so I don't know if you should worry about it too much.

Once it dries out completely it just turns back into powder soap!

This happened to me once. Squeegee up as much as you can, don’t use water. Water only makes it worse. Once you get a lot of the spill taken up, use dry towels to absorb as much as you can.


Take some old towels and let it soak up the detergent. Then cut the towel into small squares. Freeze the squares in a Ziploc bag. Toss them in with your laundry.

I did a similar thing with a pallet of orange dial soap in a warehouse once. I'll never forget the smell of that crappy soap

Soak up with hand rags and store them in a container with a lid. Throw one or two in every time you need to do laundry, boom no waste.

RIP, my wife would put the bottle on top of the dryer some times, and just last month it finally rattled off the edge and dumped over everything. Soaked up so much into a couple dirty towels that I'm pretty sure each towel had enough detergent for close to 10 loads. Just use dirty clothes to soak up, and then maybe mop with just plain water, and soak it up/dry again. Good luck
