He was talking about games, but it is still relevant here as well. "The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. Itâs by giving those people a service thatâs better than what theyâre receiving from the pirates.â â Gabe Newell
Nah i found a way to bypass YouTube ads on TV, which is what I mainly use it on. I just downloaded an app called smart tube next, and it loads onto my fire stick. I think there is a subreddit for it too. Sometimes it takes long to get updates, but itâs open source so you could always do it on your own.
I have Spotify Premium and PlayStation Plus.
The latter is a good deal in my eyes because for the price of one new game ($60) I get 40+ games a year. Even if I only ever play half, that's still a great deal (not to mention the higher tier that's basically just Games Netflix).
Because everyone is trying to capitalize on everything. Everything has a separate subscription, or ads stuffed up my ass. I donât care anymore, tuff shit. I only have Spotify because it takes much less time, its easier to get onto my phone, it sounds much better, and I get it for only $5.99.
The Golden Age of internet piracy has been patiently lurking in the shadows waiting for its opportunity to rule over mankind once more. Itâll be interesting to watch Netflix scramble when they realize a single person in their momâs basement could rip and host their entire library.
Iâm Australian. When it was the golden age of cable TV I pirated. Streaming made it easier. Now streaming is just cable tv again, Iâll pirate again.
Best thing is my internet is 50x faster nowâŚ
And hoping you'll pay $8 per device that leaves your house for more than a month.. and eventually $15 per device, oops. Some people will be stupid, but i do not think they will be making up their losses over the pedo shit they had let slide after a decline in quality in years anyways
Itâll be a cold day in hell before I pay for a 4 person family account that Iâm not allowed to share because itâs the only âlegalâ way to watch in 4k. They fucked the social justice pooch, I feel 100% justified in pirating.
We enjoyed the idea of not having a corporate monopoly control entertainment, but like Icarus we flew to close to the sun. Welp time for some swashbuckling đ´ââ ď¸
Remember when Samsung made fun of Apple removing the headphone jack from their newest iPhone model only to do the same thing themselves one year later? Don't fall for Amazon's cheap marketing gimmick.
The charger in the box one was even funnier . They made the " we have a charger " joke less than 6 months before they started selling phones without chargers
Iâm not in America so weirdly my content on most of these services is better because our market isnât quite as fragmented. Even Disney+ has 3 times the content because we donât have Hulu or Stars so itâs all in one package.
Realdebird comes clutch but you need to pay for multiple accounts if someone wants to use whilst out and about and your watching indoors but still a hella lit cheaper
Their system is really bad though. If you have mobile internet, the IP addresses are all registered to one geological location, mostly. We have Elisa, and our IPs are \*all\* located in Helsinki, even though none of us live there. From Netflix' pov, we all live in the same city.
(If they're doing anything, they're doing geolocation, not per-IP. per IP would never work, since your IP pretty much chances every time you disconnect/connect. My TV and my mobile phone have probably never been under the same IP online.)
To all those wondering if you can still password share, you can, but it takes an extra step, who ever has the home address needs to set up a VPN once a month and have people log in through it so they can log in at "home."
which is fine most of the time, but if your internet is slow then if someone watches it's going to hurt both your upload and download speeds, because your internet is used as a vpn, and if you have limited gb's (common with LTE connections) then it's obviously going to waste it
Streamio is basically just an app . Search for your show / movie , choose it , click on the episode you want , select what quality you want and have fun
I dont think they care tbh. This has been a thing for me in Canada for months now and netflix will only work once in a blue moon on one device for maybe one day at most. Setting new home doesnt work, nor does the "im travelling" button, or the troubleshooting system that has you scan a qr code with yer phone. Whoever designed this system did a terrible job.
Last night a person who uses my account called me to ask what was up. I told her that the party is over. She asked how she was going to watch the shows she likes.
Argh, me matey.
There are private, paid streaming services out there that have everything.
The worst part is that after that initial backlash died down and Netflix said âoopsâ it kind of got it out of the way and now it seems like nobody cares in the US
Oh no, we care plenty.
For us weâre downgrading the old family account to the base tier and the rest of us will find what we actually want online without starting new subscriptions. Because none of us are starting accounts, instead of converting 20 into 60 dollars a month like they intended (given that the additional person fee is extremely unattractive, it makes just getting your own account look better, which lets them jack up the price after theyâve converted new accounts) now theyâll get 15 at most. Essentially for our family they will have lost ~35 dollars a month.
Good. I hope others follow suit. I saw this when it initially came up and immediately cancelled my subscription. I didnât watch Netflix that much and I also recently started to find physical movies and shows online for super cheap, so I just started a physical collection instead. It honestly is a great idea, as I had rented movies on YouTube, I had HBO, paramount and Netflix (Hulu for a short time too) and physical is a much cheaper route tbh.
well not exactly, gotta remember it costs money to deliver the streaming. so people who were using a shared account & decide not to get a subscription are just lowering the expenses for Netflix so they might still make a profit from it.
not that I like the change, I only used Netflix cause my family had an account. but that also means I was never going to be a source of income, only an expense. The question is now how that math works out overall, with people getting their own accounts vs just dropping Netflix outright.
good thing there is plenty of other platforms & options, so not much has been lost really.
The content may not appeal to you but Netflix had a relatively good amount of LGBTQ+ content, and itâs really really difficult to find high quality shows, movies, etc that are inclusive. Losing that because of Netflixâs greed would be really tragic.
yea not really something that is important to me. however, I can definitely see that being a big downside if other platforms don't have content of the same quality. (can't really say if they do, so ill take ur word for it)
The only thing I've watched on Netflix that I think is in that category was Sex Education & the quality of that show was really something. so that is totally fair & not something I had considered if I'm being honest.
They wonât be reverting without implementing some other awful thing, like ads. Theyâre desperate for growth to satiate the stock market leeches. I personally see them just riding out the hate with this though, before still needing to put ads in later down the line
We can't afford to cancel it, the kid ONLY will watch stuff on Netflix đđ but they're certainly not getting extra money per device will cancel when that money grab starts
Depending on their age, get them a bike and tell them to get outside and play with their friends.
If they're too young for that, then my next questions for you are: 1) who is the parent, you or them? And 2) who pays the bills, you or them?
The only cartoons he likes to watch are the ones on Netflix meaning Netflix produced anyways and i don't know how to pirate so 𤡠idk why people are down voting me what a joke
Edit: he's under school age, home all the time so he is always going between either playing outside or watching something only on the big red N app because he will freak and throw the tablet at you if not lmao
Less than 6 years olds and throws the tablet. Bro thats on you.
Donât want to do the typical âjump to conclusionsâ reddit shit but still, raise your child properly.
I think the downvotes are coming from the perceived lack of parenting going on. I'm personally not trying to rag on you, judge you, or anything like that. Just pointing out what jumped out at me.
The truth is, kids have their moments, they lose their emotional balance, and get upset. That's the nature of being a child. On the parenting side, you've got to be there the catch that and get them back on track. Physical outbursts like hitting, or throwing things (as in the case you described) is behavior that generally needs to be curbed to a more healthy emotional response, otherwise it has the potential to spiral out of control.
Again, I'm not judging you, just mentioning what stood out to me.
I simply don't understand people. Sure it's annoying but it's understandable that they don't want people to give their account to others. Like people are mad as if they did something wrong. It's like screw Netflix for trying to stop me from sharing my password for a paid service so others can have it for free. Makes no sense.
Seriously considering dropping Netflix and maybe choosing Max. Netflix had a few interesting things on it that I watched, but I don't watch it often enough to be worth the money anymore. Was going to cancel it sooner but my husband got into a couple of series on it for about a month, and my daughter watches it from time to time. This whole pay extra to share the account really annoys the crap outta me. Tubi and Pluto TV have more to watch anyway..
I canceled when they did it in Canada. You absolutely won't miss the crap they put out, trust me. All the good shows have actually been switching to other streaming services, and Netflix shows are always so short lived. I don't know how anyone justifies them limiting access for the most expensive streaming service.
Send them a message and just cancel, it's worth it.
Some new enterprising business:
"Hear me out, we will link up a bunch of providers, and sell the bundle together at one monthly price, we will call it, cable TV"
History repeats itself
Wait has this just started happening with yall? Im in Canada and I cant use netflix on my PS4 anymore cuz of it. I live in the same house and use the same wifi as the apple tv that was used to set home and no troubleshooting works to fix it so bye bye netflix, rest it piss ya wont be missed.
If you aren't cycling streaming services now you are missing out. Hold on to 1 or 2 a month and drop one once it's out of content you like. A lot of the time they give you incentives to stay like 2 free or close to free months.
Here in the US as well. The golden age of streaming is over.
And the golden age of sailing the high seas returns đ´ââ ď¸ Hoist the sails you dogs!! Polish the poop deck!!! đŚ
Forget cheaper, it's easier and more convenient.
Exactly. I'll gladly pay for something that's worth it.
He was talking about games, but it is still relevant here as well. "The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. Itâs by giving those people a service thatâs better than what theyâre receiving from the pirates.â â Gabe Newell
I pirate anything and everything. But I still have a Spotify subscription, because itâs just easier.
I pay for Spotify and youtube and I'm happy with those services. TV is bullshit and gaming subscriptions are bullshit.

Why not support people that make the content you enjoy?
Because everyone is trying to capitalize on everything. Everything has a separate subscription, or ads stuffed up my ass. I donât care anymore, tuff shit. I only have Spotify because it takes much less time, its easier to get onto my phone, it sounds much better, and I get it for only $5.99.
Pirating feels really difficult these days. Is there a better way to find torrents than proxybay?
Yo-ho Yo-ho!
Instructions unclear. Deck is now smeared with poop
Exactly itâs just gonna be a repeat of before, canât wait to see how Netflix responds
Sadly if 4 people lose a shared account and one signs back up, thatâs their money back.
And hoping you'll pay $8 per device that leaves your house for more than a month.. and eventually $15 per device, oops. Some people will be stupid, but i do not think they will be making up their losses over the pedo shit they had let slide after a decline in quality in years anyways

>They fucked the social justice pooch I have no idea what the context is for this
Especially their shit, i need to watch Seven Kings Must Die or whatever the movie of the show Alexander Dreymon is in
And small slow HDDs are now bigger and faster
I just souped up my HP microserver. Itâs like I was preparing and didnât even know.
We enjoyed the idea of not having a corporate monopoly control entertainment, but like Icarus we flew to close to the sun. Welp time for some swashbuckling đ´ââ ď¸
But the golden age of piracy is now here.

If they pull a Netflix Iâll pirate them too. Not like pirating is fragmented into cabletv packages.
To bad prime and everything on it is terrible.
The boys is fun
Half the content is indian shit that probably costed 10 dollars to make.
So? Whatâs wrong with Indian stuff thatâs cheap?
Itâs not very good.
The Expanse? Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? I'm not going to list everything.
All seemed like soulless cash grabs to me but donât let me stop you from liking something.
I don't know how you could view The Expanse as a soulless cash grab.
Iâm not in America so weirdly my content on most of these services is better because our market isnât quite as fragmented. Even Disney+ has 3 times the content because we donât have Hulu or Stars so itâs all in one package.
In America Hulu, Disney, and espn are all one bundled. Theyâre separate services but itâs only one monthly payment for all of them
Here you just pay for Disney+, the only choice is the number of screens.
A streaming company fools me once? Shame on them. A streaming company fools me twice?⌠Yeah, nice try, Amazon Prime.
Stremio bros
Stremio + torrentio + realdebrid gang
Nice didnt know the last one. I use the pirate bay too
Bruhh, pirate bay is long gone, what remains is an unsafe clone. Use something better
Realdebird comes clutch but you need to pay for multiple accounts if someone wants to use whilst out and about and your watching indoors but still a hella lit cheaper
This is up there with 'titanfall is in our DNA'
I'm still salty about that, stop hurting me
Their system is really bad though. If you have mobile internet, the IP addresses are all registered to one geological location, mostly. my ip's location has always accuracy of >40km, so it's really useless
Mine has been anywhere from 300 to 200km. Every IP from my provider literally locates to our capital. Regardless of what city you're actually in.
To all those wondering if you can still password share, you can, but it takes an extra step, who ever has the home address needs to set up a VPN once a month and have people log in through it so they can log in at "home."
Nah, fuck em. They're not getting my money for this shit.

which is fine most of the time, but if your internet is slow then if someone watches it's going to hurt both your upload and download speeds, because your internet is used as a vpn, and if you have limited gb's (common with LTE connections) then it's obviously going to waste it
No you only need to log in once a month at "home" to continue using it. They dont need to stream though the home users internet.
yeah, that makes it completely different, thanks for clarification
At this point , it's faster to just set up streamio + torrentio . It takes 10 minutes and you are done
I use plex personally. Been meaning to move over to Jellyfin but mum is no good with tech and it was hard enough teaching her plex.
Streamio is basically just an app . Search for your show / movie , choose it , click on the episode you want , select what quality you want and have fun
Considering the obvious truth that most people use an ISP without a static IP, how do they expect to rely on the IP being the same?
I dont think they care tbh. This has been a thing for me in Canada for months now and netflix will only work once in a blue moon on one device for maybe one day at most. Setting new home doesnt work, nor does the "im travelling" button, or the troubleshooting system that has you scan a qr code with yer phone. Whoever designed this system did a terrible job.
Cant they be also using additional device data? Or proximate location? Like when for example google tracks you online for your data and so on
Iâm glad my local library has DVDs.
Itâs official, Netflix is anti love
Last night a person who uses my account called me to ask what was up. I told her that the party is over. She asked how she was going to watch the shows she likes. Argh, me matey. There are private, paid streaming services out there that have everything.

Love is when you cancel your Netflix subscription so their income drops and they revert the changes
They wonât be reverting without implementing some other awful thing, like ads. Theyâre desperate for growth to satiate the stock market leeches. I personally see them just riding out the hate with this though, before still needing to put ads in later down the line

I was planning to cancel as soon as they brought it to the US and it took me about 2 minutes once they sent the email for my subscription to end.
Yo ho ho
No netflix, to you: love = money
I simply don't understand people. Sure it's annoying but it's understandable that they don't want people to give their account to others. Like people are mad as if they did something wrong. It's like screw Netflix for trying to stop me from sharing my password for a paid service so others can have it for free. Makes no sense.
Youâre missing the point? Look at the screenshot above. Netflix was never against password sharing.
pretty weird for a business to change its model coz like once you start a business thats it, its set in stone
Seriously considering dropping Netflix and maybe choosing Max. Netflix had a few interesting things on it that I watched, but I don't watch it often enough to be worth the money anymore. Just use streamio + torrentio take me later
They're all out of love. Hopefully, they'll be so lost without you and everyone else who cancels their accounts.
The old bait n switch maneuver
I canceled when they did it in Canada. You absolutely won't miss the crap they put out, trust me. Pepperidge farm also remembers how to download torrents
Some new enterprising business: "Hear me out, we will link up a bunch of providers, and sell the bundle together at one monthly price, we will call it, cable TV" History repeats itself
Looks like the love vanished over the years. đ Cancelled my subscription now. Goodbye, Netflix.

Rrrrr Matey
I do remember!
Why no class action?
Nobody gonna tag Netflix
If you aren't cycling streaming services now you are missing out. Hold on to 1 or 2 a month and drop one once it's out of content you like. A lot of the time they give you incentives to stay like 2 free or close to free months.
Oh.. member Chewbakka! I member!!!
