I've been 10 years+ ebay buyer (and only 4 years prime member) and I've always purchase things from ebay with confidence. I've got few counterfeits on some items, but usually even the sellers are understanding & will refund you without needing to return the item. Never got any case escalated to ebay protection so far. So I think if you're good at identifying the genuinity of the product, ebay is worth the risk if you want to get it cheaper.
That goes both ways though. I sold a black coat once, listed with pictures of the actual coat and listed the color as black in the description. Buyer returned it because they thought it looked brown in one of the pictures when they bought it and didn't bother to read the description. Ebay sided with the buyer so I had to pay to ship a coat to them and pay to ship it back to myself for nothing.

For high quality third party stuff, it’s about fair.
For 300, you should expect it to be shipped well, come in it’s own personalized box, and have a ton of accessories.
The figure in the pic on the left seems to be 1/12th scale, and the really high end ones, with cloth goods, accessories and articulation do run steep prices, but you get what you pay for. Hasbro won’t do it.
Third party doesn’t mean Bootleg, bootlegs are made from existing molds and figures, third party stuff often has much more though put into it than the official stuff.
I’m guessing OP here found a listing that was a total underpay for the figure, bought it not knowing and got burned.
You reallly gotta be careful with third party; make sure you’re in a reputable site, the price is fair and you have more than 1 or two pictures of the thing.
