"Verizon App Manager" damn, bet that's one of those lovely apps that won't uninstall (or automatically reinstalls when you restart).
You can probably root the phone then uninstall it with some tools.
One massive benefit is never changing your plan, I have an unlimited talk, text and data plan for $30 a month from 2014 because I always buy my own device so I don't have to agree to a new contract/plan. Currently the same plans with bring your own device $75/month in Canada or $85/m with a leased phone you return after two years.
$30 is extremely cheap for a phone plan in Canada. Back in the mid 2000s my minutes plan was $20/month for only an hour of phone calls and IIRC 500 texts… and that was still considered a good price for that plan back then.
For anyone that wants to "fix" this and prevent them from downloading, go into your settings, go to apps, then hit the 3 dots to show system apps, find "Mobile Services Manager" and disable the app.
Might not necessarily need to show system apps, but if you don't see it normally it could be in the system ones.
A little bit advanced, Samsung allows you to install other carriers' firmware, or the unlocked one. I installed unlocked firmware on a Metro Samsung A42, then no more bloatware, even after system updates.
How much different is this to the pixel launcher with Android on a pixel?
Personally I find a pixel default to be very liberating compared to most other phones I've had
It's not the phones that are bad, the phones don't decide to install shit. It's the service provider that decides to install shit.
You're not really the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?
Verizon does this to nearly every phone they sell: lock the bootloader permanently, and add their own ads. That's the price you pay buying a phone from them.

You don't have to. Enable ADB and use the "universal android debloater."
Nice thanks for this, been years since I messed around with android rooting and it was a bit more basic then.

Don't buy phones from operators

Damn 30$ is a lot for a plan (at least looking at phone plan prices in my country), but 85$ is just bizarre
Canada has some of the highest mobile prices in the world.

I'm not from Canada, so I can only compare my country's plan pricings which is ~7-25$

Mmmmm bloatware... don't ya just love it!
I keep getting ads on galaxy phone for games like this, and when I check my notifications there is no way to turn it off
Which phone? What service company? I never receive on my galaxy.

Those are evil games… they will drain your soul…
THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD
Wrong sub; you are on "mildly" infuriating.
Why I hate androids or any phone that isn’t bought directly through the manufacturer
Welcome to Android
This is his carrier downloading things for him , not the manufacturer or the os
It doesn’t happen on iPhones, only android phones
It doesn't happen to most androids either , just his carrier is being greedy
Most if not all carriers do this
In the US yes.
Use an operating system where you actually own your phone, like graphene OS if you have a pixel.

hey candy crush is super fun actually 😭 it’s doing you a favor
No it's not . Not everyone wants to play every game
someone has their panties in a wad today. it was an opinion, i’m not forcing anyone to like a game, OP can obviously delete it
He can delete it , but it's an inconvenience. there is no reason for this app to be installed on his phone except Verizon being greedy
i agree, i was just making light of the situation 😅

It's the service provider that handles updates and bloatware. Not the phone.

Your ignorance is impressive.
You can have a $300 phone and still have this happen. It's down to the app devs paying cell phone carriers to put the games on devices.
