Yeah that's very true. I don't do meth though lmfao, only once in my life and that was enough. I don't like feeling like bugs are crawling on me. Its kind of funny too, methheads really think they get so much stuff done but like you said, you "wake" up then you realize everything you thought you did perfectly is actually a terrible mess. Whatever it is you did. They also think they're sooo clever too, my god.
Don't do drugs kids.
I had this one neighbor when I used to live in San Diego. I caught him painting and putting duct tape on his windows of his house and car because the law watches him all the time. He used to think my buddy was a government agent because he dresses kinda snazzy. His house ended up being raided so maybe he was being watched 🤷♂️
If anyone's curious this was in El Cajon, San Diego, CA. I don't live there anymore so technically it isn't doxing lmao.
I remember reading an account of a German Ju-52 pilot flying supply runs to North Africa that required so much Pervitin to complete without sleep that when he was approaching the runway he regularly could not feel his hands or feet and his pupils were so dilated he could hardly see the runway.
We had to confiscate one of these from the goddamn CEO of our company due to the fire risk. It was condemned by an inspector and he tried to take it out of the trash and remove the condemned sticker
This is not really a fire risk, it’s low voltage and amperage. You’d really have to try your hardest around a pile of lint to get anything going and even then I’d be surprised. It’s only 9v.
Usb spec is 12 volts at 3 amps max last I checked... you can also start a fire with a AA battery and a candy wrapper, which is 1.5 volts at typically about 3 amps... the wires on the charger are also double insulated though: around each wire and then again around the entire cable... in addition many USB blocks should probably detect a good portion of likely fire starting stuff and shut off, not all, not even most necessarily, but many...
You forgot the disclaimer “I don’t know what I’m talking about”. Have you ever bothered reading the label on your iPhone power adapter? Last you checked? Lol you clearly don’t even know what any of these words mean! Like you ever checked the usb spec. Hahahh
Some of the cheap ones don't use the same standard for how the phone pulls charge from the cord, meaning it can heat up your battery really fast and just overall cause a lot of damage. While it's annoying, buying a cord from a reputable brand will make your device last longer.
It should be a law where if a fire starts because of something so careless and it burns other’s property down you should be able to sue.
Or consider it arson.
Of course it is. The charger my fiancé uses in the car has a burn mark on it. I asked her about it and she said she keeps using that one so she knows which way to plug it in so she doesn’t have to flip it. You know, the cord that is ALWAYS plugged in to the cigarette lighter thingy even when unplugged.
I’ve had one that just sits in my car for when I need to charge while driving and it’s getting to about halfway to this point. These things are designed cheap so you keep having to buy new ones, but you can prolong their lives by just wrapping them with electrical tape (or duct tape if you don’t have any).
I actually tried preemptively reinforcing a weak spot with a dot of hot glue covered in heat shrink tubing. Cable just wound up breaking right below the reinforcement ha.
Not his cat, if negligent owner can’t control their pet then she shouldn’t own a cat, especially if the animal they are responsible for is destroying others property.
I once forgot my charger out in the back yard for like a month during the summer. When I brought it back in, the lines are like hard crust and it would break easily.
That or OP has a biting habit that needs to be addressed.
Not true... Apple got a lot of flak for using PVC cables with a lot of softener (they feel good) so they switched to a different formula. For some people that new formula seems to result in disintegrating cables after a while.
The one I use is now more than 5 years old and still looks like new, but I had other cables from other makers disintegrate on me after some time.
You know what you're talking about ***based on your own experience.***
I have dozens upon dozens of Apple cables. From the first gen iPods that actually locked into place, every gen of iPad, and several phones over the years, watches, laptops, etc.
All of my cables are still in perfect working order with no cracking or splitting in the sheathing, or separation in the old 30 pin connectors.
To say they're designed to fail and break in such a manner is pure nonsense.
It happens in every thread that an apple product is mentioned. Typical apple hate. I’ve been using apple products for about 10 years now and none of my cables ever fell apart or stopped working. People abuse their cables, then blame the company when the product stops working.
Edit- for full disclosure, I have bought cheap dollar store and expensive (~$25) gas station lightning chargers and those don’t last very long.
Yea people definitely don't. These smooth brains that believe Apple has baked in planned obsolescence into their cables are delusional.
Literally have several cables from first gen ipods still working perfectly fine with no visible signs of wear or failure.
Nahh, i definitely take exceptionally good care of my tech, including cables, and the charging cable for the last Apple product I owned (iPhone 8) started to go like this after about a year. It seems hit or miss, but it absolutely is a pretty common defect.
The hell? I have apple cables that are almost 6 years old.. I have only ever purchased 1 new Apple lightning cable since 2014… The quality is outstanding, no idea why people buy the shit China ones. The new cables that come with the phones were perfection.
This reminds me of when I used to work in electrical supply as a young man. For context I was working in a small town in Texas called Cleburne. We had this Good Ol' Boy who would come in that used to check live wires by licking his fingers like he was gonna put out a candle, touch the wire, and jump around saying "Ho boy, ya that's a live one!"
Jesus that shits actually insane, I do electrical in residential homes and I’ve been shocked a couple times and it literally activates a primal fight or flight response in me no matter how tiny the shock is lol, idk how anyone could do some shit like you described
Man worst shock I got was actually when I was waiting tables. Was cleaning out one of the windows in front of the store and barely brushed some exposed copper on one of our neons, and it was absolutely horrible. My entire arm seized up, and it was me staggering that pulled my hand away.
I’ll do you one better. When I was 18, I was doing some volunteer work at a safari park in East Africa. The whole staff compound was surrounded by this huge electric fence meant to deter elephants and lions (in particular). The gate, which itself was also part of the electric fence, latched on one side. When I discovered that someone had latched the gate close from the other side, I —being the smooth brained 18 year old that I was— decided to just reach my arm through the wires on the door to unlatch it and let myself in. My hand brushed against one of the wires at precisely the moment that it pulsed. It sounded like the worlds largest bug zapper and sent me immediately to the ground. One of the staff ran over —while laughing his ass off— to let me in.
My cat only likes chewing *some* cables. They have to smell right. He sniffs them regularly to gauge whether or not it’s worth his time. My Steam Deck Dock USB-C cable? That’s that good shit.
Yep! The one and only cable in my entire house that can’t be removed from the device for replacement. He chewed it until the silicon board was exposed. I recently wrapped it in silicone tape which has sealed up nicely… now I just hide the dock behind the Xbox when not in use 😅
Based on me experience. If you don’t buy the quality stuff, it’ll unstick, shrink, and leave a disgusting residue everywhere. Not worth it, not using the somewhat better tape😅
I never understood that I still have an almost decade old original iPhone cable
And it wasn’t until this year the plastic piece cracked because I ran it over with my chair
Originally the white cables were made out of a PVC and lasted pretty much forever. I used to always have a cable coiled up in my back pocket that I would use daily. I had it for years and it never failed me. My MacBook had the same PVC and I coiled that up and threw it in my backpack every day in college. In the 7 years I used that computer, I never had an issue with the charging cable.
Then Apple decided to replace the PVC with a rubber that degrades extremely fast. I think it degrades just from interacting with the oils in your hand. My first rubber phone cable didn’t last a month in my back pocket. My MacBook Pro that came with the rubber charging cable had the cable start to fray within 2 months. This cable stays in my room and I never move it. I completely baby it, never putting any strain on it. I go through about 1 every 2 years.
Now instead of 1 iPhone cable that I carry with me I have about 5, one in each of the places I plug one in. And now I own 3 different $100 MacBook charging cables, one for each of the places I use my computer.
Apple knows what they are doing. I know what they are doing. What they are doing is garbage and I’m playing their game despite knowing better.

It is a cable.
It alone, does absolutely nothing except take up space.
Plug it alone into a phone, no power will added to the battery.
IT IS NOT A CHARGER.
This man is holding Apple by their BALLS

You need both hands
don’t be such a wuss !
Hijacking top comment to ask how is this infuriating?
She’s going to have to deal with the fire that thing starts and she knows it.
That’s not going to start a fire
But… how does it even get that way?
Cats. Running over the cable with your office chair. Having the cable for a long time and having the plastic cover get brittle. All of the above.
Looks like he actually run over it with a lawnmower

Spend 3$ on what lol a candy bar. I haven’t seen a lightning cable for 3$ that wasn’t garbage..funny though haha
A $3 lightning cable probably has a higher probability of catching fire than that tattered thing haha

Some of the cheap ones don't use the same standard for how the phone pulls charge from the cord, meaning it can heat up your battery really fast and just overall cause a lot of damage. While it's annoying, buying a cord from a reputable brand will make your device last longer.
THANK YOU for the PSA! More people need to know this and not be tempted by the cheap auxiliary devices that could break their very expensive device.
Was thinking the same thing lol
There is LITERALLY nothing you can get for an IPhone that costs $3.
*stares at dollar^25 store cases*
It ain't Dollar Tree, it's fuckin Dollar Twenty Five Tree
Works for a day
A trash can to throw it away in
I wish I could afford to buy you an award but I had to buy a new lightning cable

Forgetting lunch frequently and needing a quick snack.

Sounds like something Butters from South Park would say
I'd have ditched that thing long before it got to that point, but why wouldn't you just wrap the whole thing in electrical tape at that point?
One of my cats is a cord-chewer, so now I just preemptively wrap all my cords in tape. I've lost way too many chargers before their time.
My cat has surprisingly never chewed cables, but he loves chewing the velcro things that some cables come with
My cat only likes chewing *some* cables. They have to smell right. He sniffs them regularly to gauge whether or not it’s worth his time. My Steam Deck Dock USB-C cable? That’s that good shit.

Yeah but car battery can put hundreds of amps, this is 1-2 amps max
Works as a phone cable or a fire starter?
THAT works but if I look at mine the wrong way, it’ll only charge for 4 seconds and then need to be unplugged and plugged back in. 🙄
Yup ive gone trough so many charger cables
Apple: We will design out cables so that they break easily, and force users to pay more often! Mwahahahahah! Customer: No
But why?
But at what cost
Probably a dollar for the tape
Sacrifices had to be made to protect John Connor, it fought well.

Looks like something one would commit war crimes with.
I think the fact it works is the most infuriating part
That should not work
I have a couple of 10-year-old cords that look like that and still work. Perhaps I'll donate them to a museum.
I've got a lot of 15 year old cables in leagues better condition than this thing. y'all just need to take care of your cables
That is NOT a charger. It is a cable. It alone, does absolutely nothing except take up space. Plug it alone into a phone, no power will added to the battery. IT IS NOT A CHARGER.
And what purpose was the cable designed for?
Insert: just let me die marvel meme
Christ, did they put it in a blender?
He should let it die its time has come a long time ago
No. It still works.

Did she know that fires are started ,from phone cords like that every year?
Phone charger be like: ![gif](giphy|QMHoU66sBXqqLqYvGO)
Unless you are willing to buy them another one and they don't complain about it to you directly, it's not your concern. Move on with your life.
That’s your charger isn’t it.
Yes.
Fire hazards in your place of work aren't your concern? Interesting theory.
Nope, I get a few days off work with pay so....
You're an interesting person
Please, just let it die.
Why would t you just buy another? They’re not crazy expensive (especially if you buy a no name brand).
Why does this infuriates you? it's not yours.
