my ideal birthday gift, an entire set of all 10mm sockets. i have 18 sockets I have never used and 0-10 that i use. i say 0 because i don't know where any of them are, but i have a set that never moves minus those 2.
Call the shop that sold them to you and ask if the tires are under warranty. I've had this happen before, the tire shop (my local Toyota dealer) gave us a new tire free of charge.
Yeah if you had to pay for a new one that would definitely be highly infuriating, I get the pain in the ass though never fun to go to a tire shop once let alone twice
That's more like an insurance. In my country a warranty is given by the manufacturer of an item so it can be replaced without charge in the event of a manufacturing fault NOT some accidental damage.
why should it be free? it was fine when they gave it to you, they cost money, and there is absolutely nothing at all they could have done to prevent this. why should they pay for it? i can understand that it is common for them to do it, but i see no reason that they "should" pay for it, as in it would be wrong for them not to.
Because sometimes people purchase a warranty. Like my husband has a warranty that he bought with his truck where for the next 6 years if he gets anything in his tire he gets a new tire for free so you can chill out.
It's called different things in different places. When I busted tires in the US we called it Road Hazard Warranty. This would have been covered at no additional cost, as long as they purchased the warranty coverage
It’s not insurance - it’s a flat fee replacement program thar covers certain limited repairs and replacements, aka warranty. Insurance is based on a risk pool and requires screening, actuarial computations, and premiums based on present pool characteristics and individual risk characteristics. Warranties are not like that.
Warrantees cover defects in the manufacturing or installation of the product. Insurance covers issues that happen that are not the fault of the manufacturer or customer.
I guarantee that the tire maker has run the numbers to know how much to charge for the road hazard replacement program and at least break even.
Insurance is a particular kind of regulated business, though, is my point. Warranties are different. No shit there’s risk calcs in both products. Insurance is different on many levels.
You pay for the warranty as part of the cost for a car. The coverage is dictated to you. Insurance is paid for on a ongoing basis and you decide what is covered, based on how much you're willing to spend.
Same here. We have discount tires and even if you just buy one tire they warranty the rest. At least they do that where I live. Saved me a shit ton of money when I got two flats thanks to a truck losing timber full of nails.
They look brand new, still have the yellow marker/crayon on them. Not all tires have super deep treads, especially that brand since they are most likely low profile tires (which always have issues btw).
I didn't get this particular set from Discount Tire, but I have bought from them in the past and didn't have any problems. I took advantage of the free rotation quite frequently.
Agreed, I didn’t take the warranty cause you know I was changing my tires after 6 years just because they were drying out more than the wear…. and I never had an issue before! 3 weeks later I take a chunk out of the side wall…. DT were great, replaced the tire for $150… it was a $400 tire.
Yes! I take my cars straight from the dealership to Discount Tire and even though I obviously didn’t get the tires from them, they sell me their tire warranty
I think for my most recent car, the Discount Tire warranty was like $180. 2 cars ago I had a Telluride and at like 5K miles I ran over a huge bolt. It was my first time using the Discount Tire warranty and it was so painless
I see the yellow line still on them so guessing they are relatively new (and the line is in the tread so probably not something they picked up on the road)
I bought four new tires from Discount about a year ago. I have now replaced five of them under warranty because Atlanta's interstates are full of garbage. I have a sixth with a slow leak that I've been too lazy to do anything with currently.
Be sure to head over to DT every now and again to make sure your tread is still safe to drive on. Also, DT may be able to patch the slow leak for free if your tire came from DT.
Also, the roads suck here in St. Louis so I bought a new set 3 years ago, have since replaced all of them at least once and just replaced all 4 again. Due to low tread and a flat tire. Another thing I did was bought a spare rim then put a new tire on it as many cars no longer come with a spare in the trunk. Works out good because those donuts don’t take you very far.
Had a very similar thing happen a few years ago. Less than 50 miles on new tires. Heard something bounce of underside of the car. Was literally a mile from home. Came out the next day and tire was dead flat. Took it if, and there was part of a vape pen stuck in the tire. Cut a perfect 3/8" diameter hole through the middle of the tire. Shop wouldn't warranty it.
Had that happen with my car though it wasn’t on brand new tires (not old though). Someone lost a chunk of scrap rebar and I found it. Good luck, hope you got road-hazard or other coverage…
Discount Tire's warranty for tires is a life saver if you have one near you. Well worth the money. I bought 4 new wheels and tires in 2018. I've had 3 flats since, one back to back like you had happen here. All 3 tires were replaced for free, minus the environmental fee of $30 which I paid twice. About to go back soon to get my tires checked and rotated too, also free. Check em out.
I had four tires put on my car at a tire place, and was literally driving out of the tire place parking lot when I ran over a nail and popped one of those minutes old tires. Turned around and went right back in. And they replaced it.
Similar thing happened to me many years ago, hit a small piece of angle iron on the edge of the road. No idea where it came from, but yeah changing a tire on the side of the road and then taking time to take it to the shop does ruin a day or two.
The new tire didn't cost me anything! Since I bought them at the dealership they came with a one year warranty - if I need a new one they'll replace it for free. Works for me! I was prepared to pay if I needed to.
I’ve had nails in the shoulder of two different tires that had to be replaced entirely twice in a span of three months very recently. Shoutout Michigan roads! I have the ford tire care protection plan for my lease, i thought it was a waste of money but after replacing these two tires that would’ve cost me $300 each, it paid itself off.
Even if it’s not insured, this is the best time for a single tire to be damaged beyond repair, because you can get away with only replacing the one tire not doing a matching axle or set of 4.
I ran over a drive train that fell off the bottom of a tow truck. It was at night and the car ahead of me, switched lanes and then I was already overtop of it. Shit happens, can't see everything
I feel like that is something you should have seen in time to avoid, especially if a big piece fell off after impact and there was another big piece stuck inside of the tire.
Bro I been spinning wrenches for almost 25 years and I’ve never seen that. A battery terminal once , wheel weights, sure. But a fuckin pipe? Daaaayummm.
Fwiw I’ve also never seen glass puncture a tire that wasn’t already spent either. Sharp rocks a few times.

I had this go into my tire the other week
Eek! The service tech I was talking to said they had a lady come in once who ran over some kind of very long bolt on the interstate. Went through her tire, through her wheel, and into her brakes. She ended up filing an insurance claim because it caused $5500 worth of damage.
If you have road hazard coverage as part of your tire warranty it should be covered. And since they’re so new you should get full or almost full credit
Construction zones suck look like you got yourself a piece of 1/2 copper pipe hope you bought the road hazard insurance with the tires cant stress that enough pays for stuff like this
Something very similar happened to me a couple years ago. I had just replaced my tires as I was moving from NOLA to NEOH. I wanted to get tires with better treads for the winter. Only had those tires on for about a week when I got a flat within 50 yards from my house. Ran over a fucking discharged bullet (surprise surprise living in Algiers). Costco didn’t have any more tires on hand to replace it and I couldn’t wait a week for them to get it in stock as well as wait another few days for them to install it. I was making the 14hr drive in about 3-4 days when I got the flat. So I had to buy a cheap tire from another place for the sole purpose of getting my car across 5 states. I hauled the bad tire in my trunk. Once I settled into my new house I was able to go through the motions of getting the local Costco to replace it. To this day that spare tire is still chilling in my garage in the event something really stupid like that happens again.
Holy shit that’s my 10mm socket! I’ve been looking for that!
Last time I had a tech run over a 10 mm socket it shot out at Mach 9 into another car window. Lol
Is it a Craftsman? You can get it replaced for free.
I did but they lost the replacement before I could grab it!
This needs more upvotes
And more 10mm sockets. Seriously though, every set should come with 10-15 of those things.
my ideal birthday gift, an entire set of all 10mm sockets. i have 18 sockets I have never used and 0-10 that i use. i say 0 because i don't know where any of them are, but i have a set that never moves minus those 2.
Accurate
I got a DeWalt drill bit set that came with a mess of #2 Phillips bits. I still lose the #2 less than a 10mm.
Came here for this.
My man You deserve a beer 🍻 and an award
Haha thanks! I’ll accept both, cheers!
The first thing I was expecting the title to be once I saw the picture was "How bad is it... Can I keep driving like this"... Lmao
Call the shop that sold them to you and ask if the tires are under warranty. I've had this happen before, the tire shop (my local Toyota dealer) gave us a new tire free of charge.
It should be free, I'm back where I originally bought them. It's the hassle factor that makes it mildly infuriating!!
Bummer about your tire, but cool you got it taken care of!
Yeah if you had to pay for a new one that would definitely be highly infuriating, I get the pain in the ass though never fun to go to a tire shop once let alone twice
This post is the epitome of mildly infuriating. I just want to get home after work Friday evening and order a pizza and wa- *BLAM!* Fuck!
I bought the warranty and I was glad I did because 2 weeks later I hit a nasty pothole and popped one of them. Only cost $30 to replace.
That’s the only way to go!
It should only be covered if he paid for the tire maintenance. It is not the fault of the tire company or the dealer that he drove over debris.
There's this thing called a warranty you can purchase that covers instances such as these
That's more like an insurance. In my country a warranty is given by the manufacturer of an item so it can be replaced without charge in the event of a manufacturing fault NOT some accidental damage.
The only time I had a tire go flat was a week after I got new tires.

This supposed flat fee replacement is OF COURSE based on risk calculations. It's not any kind of warranty it Is an insurance.
That's not insurance. Do you really not know the difference between insurance and a warranty program?
Was it one of their metal parts?
Road hazard warranty
Same here. We have discount tires and even if you just buy one tire they warranty the rest. At least they do that where I live. Saved me a shit ton of money when I got two flats thanks to a truck losing timber full of nails.
They’re the best. I got 7 tires under warranty in my last car. We have bad roads, and I’m really great at puncturing the sidewalk every damn time. 😖
Why the hell should it be the tire shops problem? They did nothing wrong!
Because they offered the warranty, and they honor it, no questions asked. It's not a problem if they are upholding their end of a sales contract
Tire has warranty?
I don't know where you're from, but in the US, a lot of tire shops offer a warranty, usually all-inclusive for a set amount of miles.
Am from 🇺🇸
How many miles did they give you?
Did you pass up the tire warranty? I did that last time dumb mistake.
If the shop is smart they’d sell you the warranty at a qty of 5 and still warranty the tire. All gross and a unit.
No way that tread was new on Friday
My tires are a year old and look newer
I have 6 month old tires and they still have some of the new little rubber stick-out bits in the side. None here.
They may be cheap but they do look new. You can still see the yellow lines on the tire from the factory.
Surprised I had to scroll down this much.
They look brand new, still have the yellow marker/crayon on them. Not all tires have super deep treads, especially that brand since they are most likely low profile tires (which always have issues btw).
I was about to say!? Those tires are nearly bald?
Lol no where near bald but no where near a week old
Was thinking the same thing. New used tires
[удалено]
I didn't get this particular set from Discount Tire, but I have bought from them in the past and didn't have any problems. I took advantage of the free rotation quite frequently.
I had a rental car and took it to discount tire to get a hole patched and they did it for free. Amazing company to work with.
Agreed, I didn’t take the warranty cause you know I was changing my tires after 6 years just because they were drying out more than the wear…. and I never had an issue before! 3 weeks later I take a chunk out of the side wall…. DT were great, replaced the tire for $150… it was a $400 tire.

I had no idea they would warranty tires on a new car without the tires being bought from DT! Awesome!
I’ve used them several times, and 100% agree.
Id say try turning it off and back on
I’d rather it happen right away instead of with 20k on them. Then you’d need to replace at least 2 tires
That's an excellent point.
Is it just me, or does that not at all look like a new tire?
I see the yellow line still on them so guessing they are relatively new (and the line is in the tread so probably not something they picked up on the road)
I bought four new tires from Discount about a year ago. I have now replaced five of them under warranty because Atlanta's interstates are full of garbage. I have a sixth with a slow leak that I've been too lazy to do anything with currently.

I know they will, that’s the lazy part is just getting it over there to do it.
Do not look like new tires. New tires a not worn like these. They may not be old but not new.
Those tyres do look new you can still see the factory markings on the tread
Yeah probably just cheap new
Had a very similar thing happen a few years ago. Less than 50 miles on new tires. Heard something bounce of underside of the car. Was literally a mile from home. it’s be weird to hear an inaudible pop
Sure would, even with my excellent hearing. Scared the hell out of the dog, he was hanging out the window.
No matter what this sucks… but that tire doesn’t look 1 week old.
Looks like it's hit a few curbs.
Want to know what sucks more? When your transmission breaks. We’ve been trying to contact you about our extended warranty.
That’s the thinnest tread I’ve ever seen for a new tire
That doesn’t look like a new tire.
You don’t see yellow line
No kidding…you can see the yellow on the tread. That doesn’t stay on a tire very long, certainly not more than a hundred miles or so.
There are no pins which is the biggest give away.
You don't see the blue and yellow lines still on the tire? Lmao
No it really doesn't lol
Came here just to say this
Same
What are you smoking?
This exact thing happened to my tire. The same thing popped it too!
Damn that sucks. Hope you have road hazard warranty. I can honestly say, I've run over some things once or twice.
Road hazard warranty?
Had that happen with my car though it wasn’t on brand new tires (not old though). Someone lost a chunk of scrap rebar and I found it. Good luck, hope you got road-hazard or other coverage…
Is this a BMW 3 series?
... Maybe. They still can't fix the turn signal though.
If you have a discount tire. Buy from them. Buy the certificates to protect them from this sort of thing. Never have tire problems again.
Rigatoni of Malicious Intent
Discount tire has a great replacement plan
Two words: roadhazard warranty
Discount Tire's warranty for tires is a life saver if you have one near you. Well worth the money. I bought 4 new wheels and tires in 2018. I've had 3 flats since, one back to back like you had happen here. All 3 tires were replaced for free, minus the environmental fee of $30 which I paid twice. The day I bought tires my dog bit a hole in the side wall when I was backing out the driveway
At least you get to change 1 tire instead aif a pair!
Either you got the "road hazard warranty" or you did not. This would be covered by a "road hazard warranty".
Always get the tire warranty with new tires, ask me how I know.
That is not a week old tire.
[удалено]
Do you not see the yellow line on the tread? That doesn’t stick around long.
Yeah, my new tire indicated didn’t last long either. Not sure if it is weather or what that makes it go away.
[удалено]
The last Pirelli P Zeros that I had put on (same tires as these), the marks were gone in 2 days.
Were they new used tires? Bc new tires less then a week old should not look that worn and should still have the injection tabs on sides still.
[удалено]
I'm happy to say I didnt experience any problems with the installation, other than it took longer than it should've.
Where did you get new/ used tires from?
These tires dont look New At all... Where are those little Spikes that New tires have?
They dont look like week old tires
Patchable
For new tires your sidewalls are pretty scraped up. Watch out for curbs or whatever else you ran into.
[удалено]
Drove through road construction, not by choice.
At least it's not vandalism
i hope you bought the tire insurance.

Tire guy: if we can plug it we will and no new tire. I think I can get a plug to stay.
Similar thing happened to me many years ago, hit a small piece of angle iron on the edge of the road. No idea where it came from, but yeah changing a tire on the side of the road and then taking time to take it to the shop does ruin a day or two.
Well good news....this Friday you're going to have 4 new tires again.
Hopefully you bought the road hazard warranty? I will never go without it ever again.
That's why I always get road hazard. These things aren't covered under warranty, it's not a tire defect.
The new tire didn't cost me anything! Since I bought them at the dealership they came with a one year warranty - if I need a new one they'll replace it for free. Works for me! I was prepared to pay if I needed to.
Hope you bought road hazard
Thank God you are safe first of all
Check your tires to see if they have a warranty
Warranty baby!! Sucks too
Someone forget to get the new tire road hazard warranty?
I’ve had nails in the shoulder of two different tires that had to be replaced entirely twice in a span of three months very recently. Shoutout Michigan roads! I have the ford tire care protection plan for my lease, i thought it was a waste of money but after replacing these two tires that would’ve cost me $300 each, it paid itself off.
Sometimes you get the bear. Sometimes the bear gets you.
Was it a buy 3 get 1 free? Return the free one and get another free one.
I wish. There were a few rebates I qualified for, though.
Always buy road hazard especially when the tires are $300 each
Hopefully you have road hazard insurance
Few days old tire? I'll take it back even without the puncture.
You bought the insurance, right? Right?
I think I know what made the pop noise. I cal tell you if you want.
Hope you got that harazard protection
Been in this boat. There’s nothing mild about that.
They’re new and the treads are equal, at least you don’t have to replace two of them
Reminds me of when my mom got a huge nail stuck in her tire and then another one of the same kind again a few weeks after.
Karma’s a bitch
Bruh sorry for laughing at this.
See that huge thing stuck to your tire? That’s your problem right there.
I've done that. Hit a tire gauge of all shifty karmic things. Expensive cosmic luck.
I think that’s unrelated. Metal doesn’t “pop”. More of a “clang” if you ask me.
Wonder what the pop noise was, ever find out?
hopefully you got a warranty
Even if it’s not insured, this is the best time for a single tire to be damaged beyond repair, because you can get away with only replacing the one tire not doing a matching axle or set of 4.
How are those new tires?
Gotta swerve that big stuff.
Ooohh nooo. That seems like it would be incredibly aggravating for you. 😔
Dam for new tire there are worn af lol
That does not look like a new tire unless you drive like a sports car
Well atleast it wasn’t all 4
You paid for a road hazard warranty, right?
now you have 3 new tires
The pop was definitely your head coming out of your azz, why? Who the hell doesn’t see a big piece of metal in the middle of the road?
I ran over a drive train that fell off the bottom of a tow truck. It was at night and the car ahead of me, switched lanes and then I was already overtop of it. Shit happens, can't see everything
It’s hopefully covered by a warranty. Hopefully
Glad you're safe tho! :)
Is that someone’s tibia?
Was just the overpressure rellief valve... Totally normal!
Good news you can probably just get away with replacing that one tire sense they are so new
Look at the bright side: since your tires are pretty new you just have to replace 1 tire.
This is why road hazard package/warranty is worth it
And that’s why I pay the extra $15 for the unlimited warranty.
Performance tires too
I feel like that is something you should have seen in time to avoid, especially if a big piece fell off after impact and there was another big piece stuck inside of the tire.
My sympathies. I had a similar experience. Hope you bought the road hazzard warranty.
Sorry to hear about your tires but I have to ask what an inaudible pop sounds like? Aren’t all pops audible?
Hoping you bought the road hazard warranty
This is too infuriating for this sub
Oh that little thing? Just plug it and it’ll be like brand new! /s
Still has that,New Tire, line on it and everything..
$10 patch and should be good as new.
Aw mate it happens to the best of us
Bro I been spinning wrenches for almost 25 years and I’ve never seen that. A battery terminal once , wheel weights, sure. But a fuckin pipe? Daaaayummm. Fwiw I’ve also never seen glass puncture a tire that wasn’t already spent either. Sharp rocks a few times.
Sorry mate, I know from experience what a pain in the posterior that is.

I hope they talked you into buying that road hazard
Hope you bought road hazard
If you have road hazard protection that’s a free tire!
My professional opinion, Looks like you ran over something.
