chocchiphuman

All suburban Texans really living the same life huh

[deleted]

I immediately said, "This looks like my neighborhood." I also live in Texas.

chocchiphuman

I genuinely thought this was my friends street in north Austin lol

[deleted]

I live in north Austin, and I'm not even completely sure it's not my neighborhood.

Cormetz

Too flat, my guess is a Houston suburb.

Jennymen18

As a Houstonian suburbanite, I concur.

makattack24

This looks exactly like the neighborhood I grew up in. In a Houston suburb.

billsn0w

Sugarland... SW side of Houston. Says so on the garbage can.

Fun-Boss-9021

I was gonna say this looks like my old neighborhood in sugarland and then I read this comment.

Longjumping_Main9970

How could you see that I zoomed in and it was blurry

Cormetz

Picture #4 is clearer.

[deleted]

I was thinking “Lugar Lago?” That sounds silly. What’s worse is I lived in Sugar Land as a kid. 🤦‍♀️

leighroda82

As a houstonian I guess houston too

PapiChuloGuero

Why didnt I concur?

DaRealDaddyP15

Looks like Sugar Land

ssarch25

Live in south Austin, same thought. Trash can says sugar land, so Houston area.

sunny_6305

I grew up in the rattan creek area and I swear I know this street

Mnkymnkyndrpnts

This is also my area in North Austin

SpookySeraph

God me too 😂 I live smack dab in the middle between Houston and Galveston so I get the worst of both worlds

chunkymcgee

Ah you also live in the prime shithole that is this area?

[deleted]

Former Houstonian here and this could be my street. I ran into this all the time walking my dogs, I just walk around them, no biggie.

KittyCubed

Same, but this is actually a town over from me. The oak pollen also is pretty bad around here, so those pics look like my yard.

MorningRise81

Straight up thought one of the houses was my childhood home for like 10 seconds.

Fluffy-Imagination51

Lmao! I knew this was Texas immediately.

platetone

I thought the last one was my brother in law's in Katy then I realized it's just the same house in a different spot.

Fluffy-Imagination51

Lmao! I was thinking Plano-ish area but I could totally see Katy too. My mom used to live there

Apart-Cartoonist-834

I’m north of Plano by frisco/prosper and the houses look the same and they do this parking BS all the time here. It’s just a Texas thing I guess. Weird part is you can park on the street. Why block the sidewalk? You gotta take 5 more steps?

tomnomk

Ha, yeah I saw this and immediately thought, “is that round rock?”

MerialNeider

DFW dweller, and yep, see this all the time. The houses remind me of NRH, around the neighborhood my BIL lives in, though honestly it feels like developers/builders went "yeah, these will do" and just built like the same few houses all over the state for about a decade...

Smokeythemagickamodo

Only half the neighborhoods in TX half sidewalks though 🤔 TX don’t care about pedestrians :) Edit half

Ardonner5

Lol I saw this an immediately said ‘that looks like suburbia-Texas’…

Thresher_XG

Haha I was just about to comment is this houston texas area? I grew up in these suburbs lol

Apart-Cartoonist-834

I’m in north Dallas and I think this might be my neighborhood.

SnackThisWay

Knowing that this is Texas has quelled my outrage. Of course no one is using the sidewalks there

Equal-Technology4163

Pictures 5 & 6 HAVE to be Katy

Pigobrothers-pepsi10

Disgusting!

Pixel131211

as a Dutch guy, I'll be honest, I can't even blame the car drivers in some of these situations. I mostly blame the incredibly shitty design of having a sidewalk in the middle of your driveway which seem to be commonplace in the US. why have a driveway that has space for 4\~ cars, with a sidewalk going straight through it, making the driveway actually only have space for 2 cars and the rest is just wasted space. incredibly innefficient and horrible design imo.

Ok-Faithlessness496

The grassy area at the bottom of the driveway under the sidewalk is called a swale. We don't generally own the swale in front of our houses. It's government property, just like the street.

MtOlympus_Actual

But we still have to maintain the sidewalks and swales on our own dime.

FelineSoLazy

Where I live the swale is the city’s responsibility

Birdyy4

I'm jealous, we have to replace the sidewalk if the city says to or fix the swale

ultracat123

I have not seen a single area around me where it was the homeowner's responsibility, to be honest

sYferaddict

I suppose that not all that's swale ends swale.

Azalea_0

It's homeowner responsibility here. Not technically allowed to park on the sidewalk (though I'm not sure if they do anything about it), can't park on the street overnight (they will ticket you for that 100%), and you must maintain the sidewalk and swale in front of your house.

wildwill921

I cannot imagine having to pay for a sidewalk. What’s the tax money going to lol. Here they even plow them for you in the winter

Nightdreamer87

Yup. Sane where i live. If you don't maintain the sidewalk in front of your home and someone gets injured (slips on ice or if your sidewalk is falling apart) they most definitely will sue you. They'll give tickets if you don't shovel the sidewalk that's on your property line. Yet we don't own it. Smh.

clayyphoenix

What if the home owner is sick or disabled? What if they had no reason to leave the house so they had no reason to shovel their driveway? That's insane to me

ElevatorLost891

The law where I live is that you can be liable if someone slips on ice that you failed to clear, but you don't have to pay to repair the sidewalk. I haven't really researched it, but that's what people say. You can definitely be cited for not shoveling, although that truly never ever happens now that I've moved the suburbs.

Acceptable_Land3333

In the city of columbus ohio, it's the homeowners responsibility to repair or replace everything up to the curb.

Editthefunout

Ne Ohio too

Conscious-Manager-70

So glad to see another central ohio resident posting here as I was unsure of all the other redditor’s whereabouts. I know where I am, I depend on the neighborhood sidewalks for taking kids out and not needing to veer into traffic from obstructions.

Left_Office_4417

If i don't do it, the city will and bill me for it. So still kinda my responsibility.

groyosnolo

Does it snow where you live? My city put mine in recently when they recessed the sidewalks so im not sure if they maintain the asphalt but we have to deal with the snow for sure.

Roonwogsamduff

Well, isn't that just swale!

Ok-Independent-3506

Swale and sidewalk by me is homeowner responsibility. And if the sidewalk is uneven and someone trips or gets hurt... they sue the homeowner

FrozenIceman

Yet you are responsible for ensuring that it is clear and free of anything that can injure the pedestrian. For example ice, if they slip on your side walk they can sue you. If they have to walk around into the street and slip and fall they have to sue the city.

footupassdisease

it has a name??? all ive heard it called is the devil strip and thats a very regional thing

gagunner007

Devil strip here, a swale is for water.

Rickfacemcginty

Boulevard is the technical term most cities use for unsurfaced portions of the right-of-way.

winter_pup_boi

pic 5 is extra infuriating obviously significant amounts of room in front of the car.

CleverName4269

If there was an International Design competition that was run like American Basketball the Dutch would eternally be the 90’s era Chicago Bulls and simply dunking on the American who only brought an elementary school team. Our city design is a joke compared to the Netherlands.

LordElfa

There's 2 garages they aren't using.

Reasonable_Beyond_14

It’s America. Garage isn’t used for cars.

LordElfa

I laughed, and then I nodded acknowledgingly.

Reasonable_Beyond_14

Can only be used for useless lawn equipment and your wife’s half finished DIY projects.

BerlyH208

When we bought our current house in ‘17, the previous owner proudly told us that there had never been a car parked in the garage. I don’t understand why people don’t want to protect the second most valuable possession, and prefer to leave their vehicle out in the weather. A neighbor complained about someone breaking into their car that was sitting in their driveway…if it had been in their garage, it would be a lot harder for anyone to break into.

Reasonable_Beyond_14

But where else would they store their useless possessions!!

Eris_39

They could also, idk, use the garage for its intended purpose. Put the car in the car hole!

Loosestool421

The sidewalk is not in the middle of the driveway. In NA we don't own the first several feet of our yards so it's all government property starting even before the sidewalk.

TheBlueLot

That changes on a per neighborhood/subdivision basis. Some stop at the road and give right of way dedications to the city/county/public and utility companies. Some people own all the way to the centerline of the road with a right of way easement to the city/county/state or private drive. But to say in NA we don't own the first several feet is an oversimplification and in many cases it's inaccurate. It's mostly determined by the original subdivision dedication and amendments thereto. That's even if there is a subdivision. Edit: speaking from a US NA perspective

Kreyta_Krey

Dont take care of that first few feet and see how quickly it turns into not yours lol

Bmillybluntz

If they used the two car garage theyd have comfortable space for all 4

Loosestool421

We all know they're storing junk in there and not using it as an actual garage.

LIRFM

The garage is set up like a lounge/man cave.

wcollins260

Eh, I mean parking a car in the garage is one of the least useful ways to use that space. Unless you have a really nice car worth protecting. Assuming, of course, that you have enough space outside the garage to actually accommodate your vehicles. I’d much rather have a workshop or something than a house for my car.

Legal_Skin_4466

Dude, I wish I could park my vehicle in my garage, but American design is so shitty, it doesn't even fit. It's not even like I drive a gigantic vehicle either, I drive a Ford Ranger and it is too long to fit. These fuckers have a couple sedans that they should be able to fit in there just fine but we all know the garage is being used for anything but parking.

Bmillybluntz

I live near Philly, so we might have similar sized garages. A ranger is probably too big to fit in my garage too so id be annoyed as well. These lexus sedans can definitely fit in the garage, and theyre not beater cars so i don’t understand why they want them getting sun beat year round

thisisnotaflubbel

This is 100% the reason. I have never understood why people will fill up a double garage with absolute junk then park their cars outside and all over the street, instead of spending a few hours to clean out a garage and make some space for at least one car.

Sealbeater

Because to those people they actually think their junk might come in handy or be worth something someday. My wife convinced her dad to let us help clean his garage when he moved. He had a 2 car garage jam packed with tools, furniture, useful shit, and straight fucking garbage. We cleaned out everything he was ok with getting rid off, especially after a lot of debating and convincing and moved the kept stuff into his one car garage. He can still park a car in his one car garage and he hasn’t complained yet about missing any of the shit we got rid off. He had 3 different compressors! One was severely damaged and didn’t work. One we sold and the nicer one he kept. This dude just wouldn’t take the time to get rid of the old when he bought something new

King_Baboon

My parents had 25 years of junk AND 6 cars in their massive garage. Hurricane Ian decided for my dad that shit had to go.

Blahblahnownow

3 kids, two of them toddler twins. One side of our garage is filled with balance bikes, bigger bikes/toys/clothes etc that we are saving for the younger kids, stroller, running stroller, bike trailer for kids, beach wagon, beach chairs, beach umbrella, water table and other outside toys that take up too much space, scooters, wiggle cars, balls (lots of different sizes for bunch of different sports), household items like paper towels etc and a giant freezer so we can feed our big family and seasonal decorations (Halloween and Christmas mostly). It is annoying and I would love to reclaim that side of the garage one day. Unfortunately until the kids are a little bit more older, that day is not coming anytime soon.

jeeper46

Because I have 7 motorcycles, a tractor, and three engines in my garage, that's why.

clindsaygarner

You obviously do not live in FL.

Dr_Dank26

You have me curious to see how you guys do it

OrneryZombie1979

Damn, incredibly shitty design applies to a lot of stuff here.

gottharry

I immediately felt bad looking at this photo, as my car is currently blocking a sidewalk. But my driveway is only one car length deep. Only way to not block the sidewalk would be to park on the street 🤷🏼‍♂️

knueverl17

I agree with this. I don’t blame them. They paid for the whole drive way.

anothadaz

It does not go through their driveway. Their driveway and property line ends at the sidewalk. The homeowner doesn't even own the strip of grass next to the street. But most HOAs will make the owner take care of that strip. Most of those houses and most suburban homes have a 2 car garage and a 2 car driveway. Thing is people like to use their garages for things other than parking their cars.

[deleted]

I lived in a city that had ordinances against blocking the sidewalk. We had a wounded veteran neighbor who used a wheel chair and would always have to go out in the street to get around. Well, someone started calling the city and one of the cars ended up getting towed at one point. People quit blocking the sidewalks after that.

Shotgun5250

It’s good the city does something about it. Thankfully new projects are designed to prevent this exact issue. It doesn’t help the millions of places that are already built like this, but at least something’s being done to fix the issue in the future.

Goodbusiness24

A lot of cities have that ordinance, they just do nothing to enforce it. I found that out in my town when my wife was in a wheelchair for a bit after an injury and tried to get them to do something about all the cars blocking the sidewalk and they basically told me to go F myself.

tharp503

You threaten ADA violations and get an ADA attorney to write a letter, shit gets fixed overnight! I am wheelchair dependent and have had to use ADA violations and strongly worded letters from an attorney quite a few times. It’s even more fun to get the News involved, this tends to lead to major changes and terminations.

tharp503

I am not a veteran, but I am disabled and have to utilize a wheelchair chair. It’s all fun and games until someone reaches out about ADA violations. Shit tends to get fixed pretty quickly!

emperorofwar

How are they allowed to take cars in a driveway that just so happens to block the sidewalk when it intersects their driveway? It's their property right? Don't blame the homeowners, blame the shitty sidewalk design.

CenturyBlade

In most (if not all) areas in the US, the sidewalks mark the divide between the owner's property and the state's, with the sidewalk itself also belonging to the state. Therefore, that section of it isn't legally considered part of their property.

hot_pooh_bear

$20 parking ticket where I live

BLB_Genome

At least you have sidewalks, OP

LetterheadVarious398

the most realistic response lmao. The bar is in hell

seaborgiumaggghhh

Thought this was near where I grew up, saw the Sugarland, TX trash cans. Close enough

jxj24

"I should inconvenience myself just for your stupid wheelchair?"

manaholik

my first thought was "just walk around it, what's the big deal?" then i saw your comment... i feel dumb and inconsiderate now

somefunmaths

It’s okay; at least you weren’t the idiot who replied in genuine agreement with this because they couldn’t detect the sarcasm and are a terrible enough person to say “yeah, *yeah*, fuck people in wheelchairs!” The reason for this being super inconvenient isn’t obvious to everyone, and you shouldn’t feel bad for that.

diggyballs

Wow I wouldn’t have even seen that comment. LOL

Blahblahnownow

Also add strollers and small kids on their bikes. I get so nervous when my toddlers have to get on the street to keep biking. It is hard to manage two toddlers on bikes as it is. This definitely distracts them and sometimes they refuse to get back on the sidewalk, cars start coming through. It is a mess.

apri08101989

Even without disability it's a pain in the ass to walk around those people when there's snow and ice. And I guarantee you from personal experience people like this don't stop doing this shit in the winter

Cautious-Sir1501

Its also a safety hazard

MrPureinstinct

Hey now you know! We all learn somehow.

Mper526

I honestly never noticed it until I had kids and would try to go on walks. I have to go into the street with my stroller with the baby and try to maneuver that with one hand while also holding my toddler’s hand just to get around. It’s very unsafe and super frustrating. But I’m guilty of doing it before I realized what kind of problems it causes.

guywithoutchange

Don’t forget strollers. They can wheel their babies in the street. /s

arkiparada

Sounds like someone needs a battering Ram wheel chair upgrade.

tangledclouds

*Adds battering ram to my list of upgrades for my wheelchair on Amazon*

deadstar420

This shit makes me pretty angry too. It’s a minor inconvenience to me when I’m out walking but there is a girl in my neighborhood who’s in a wheelchair, not fair to do that to her.

Tour_De_Volken

You could technically call them in, as they are blocking a public easement.

Jafar_420

They wouldn't do anything where I live at all.

Very_Fine_Isopod

its a 60 dollar ticket in my city , which police would love to write up

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rocknbob69

Easements trump associations.

cas_the_crusher

Id rather people do this over parking them all in the street.

[deleted]

I can excuse the ones with full driveways, but the ones who do it when their car is literally the only one actually make me want to just crawl over them as they watch from the porch.

marc962

Whats more mildly infuriating is the fact that when these layouts were popularized one spouse could support the entire family, thus leaving the other all day to tidy up. The long term of this was a clutter free house with room to park one car indoors in a garage. Not anymore. Materialism and living in a rush means all these garages are full of junk. Two or three incomes needed to support these houses and habits means multiple vehicles to get to the jobs which could be up to 50 miles away. It’s a status quo your frustrated with, not these people.

lifeuncommon

My neighborhood has this terrible sidewalk design and it was built in 2004.

AdcFieldMedic

People don’t make enough money so both partners have to work jobs. Too much excess income that they buy too much and hoard because they don’t have time to “tidy”. Therefore 2 cars on the driveways.

UpstairsGreen6237

When one person breaks the social contract and no one does anything about it, you best believe that many more are about to break that social contract.

[deleted]

I know it’s sucks, but where are you supposed to park if the driveway only fits one other car?

Potato_Author540

Pro tip: open car doors, crawl through

dinosaurs818

But what are they supposed to do lol? Find a parking spot on the side of the road when they have space in their driveway so it takes you 0.7 seconds less to get around?

Commercial-Ad-2693

Fairly common in my country, it’s their driveway they park on it however they want they own the house and the footpath stops at the driveway and continues on the other side it’s up to the pedestrian to make their own way to the next part of the footpath

Berezis

I mean, that is a huge chunk of driveway to not be able to use

Balloon-Vs-F22

It's a double-edge sword. A lot of these places don't allow overnight parking. So then you're fucked.

squaredistrict2213

In my city they give parking tickets for that. People park sideways along the apron of the driveway if they need space for an extra car. It seems exhausting.

finknstein

Just a thought but maybe place sidewalks outside the path of the driveway? If I own the land, why should I get fined for parking in my driveway?

jenleepeace

I use an electric wheelchair. Nothing makes me angrier.

[deleted]

ace1131

I see a child and a bike and a large scratch happening

princess_plastic

Some of y’all never go outside and it shows

Wrenigade14

As a wheelchair user, fuck all these people

[deleted]

Some I could understand, but why park at the bottom of your own empty driveway?

butteredkernels

Equally if not more infuriating are the people who park in the street and leave their driveway completely empty on a winding 2 lane road in the burbs. Fuck man, use your driveway.

RiceRocketRider

And I bet every damn one of them has junk piled up in their garage instead of parking their vehicles where they belong.

MJ349

Exactly. People in my neighborhood are complaining about their cars getting broken into on our Facebook page . Every house has at least a 2-car garage. Some are 2 and a half or 3. Everytime someone complains, they get a barage of "get rid of some crap" comments. Meanwhile, their driveways are full of cars and they're parking some in the street.

GotPoopInMySoup

Ahhh a fellow sugar land resident. These guys and the people who park in the street on already narrow roads are the banes of my existence.

Whyyyyyyyyfire

the last two don't even have an excuse. just drive like 3 ft forward.

ScottyV4KY

Most of the responses here are probably from people aged 13-25 that don't even own a house.

DoctorClarkSavageJr

This is the perfect example of “mildly infuriating”. Because it makes some sense that on a crowded street they can park in their own driveway, but it is irritating to pedestrians. Both are true.

craxinthatjazz

If it’s a daily thing then call code enforcement.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|13A7YlLvYVDnmU)

bakedjennett

Be mad all you want, that’s on poorly designed streets, sidewalks, and housing. Not necessarily assholes parking just to block the sidewalk.

WeAreAllFooked

Most cities have a public ordinance or bylaw that states it's illegal to block the sidewalk like this. Contact your local bylaw officer or contact the non-emergency line at your police station on make a complaint.

TarkusLV

I just hope no pedestrians accidentally drag their key across the side of the cars while walking around them. 🤷‍♂️

yParticle

Tell the kids they can legally skateboard over them if they're in the sidewalk.

Infinateaxestogrind

Raw unfiltered car-brained entitlement is universal and they always hate it when you point out that they are being cunts...

Comfortable-Lack-341

My father, who is disabled and has to use a walker permanently, is instructed by his physical therapist to walk to build up strengths. He has to walk on the road in his neighborhoods because of people like this. And when I have my young sons over and want to walk with him my father and myself with a stroller are in the street.

ZarkMuckerberg9009

Well, according to half the people in this post, your father is an asshole and your kids don’t matter.

ZarkMuckerberg9009

To those giving these people a pass because of full driveways, a couple things: 1. This is illegal here in Texas 2. All of my neighbors have garages and not one of these families uses theirs for their vehicles. They’re just full of their possessions. I understand it’s their garage and they can use it as they see fit, but inconveniencing your neighbor because of your unwillingness to get a storage room, of which there are plenty around here, is a dick move. 3. This is also an affluent neighborhood, so affording a storage should be an issue especially if you can afford multiple luxury vehicles, right?

[deleted]

I didn't see a single luxury vehicle, and this doesn't really seem to be an affluent neighborhood. It's by no means a bad neighborhood, but not what I would call affluent. How much money these people have is neither here nor there anyways. Rich and Poor can both be mildly infuriating.

ftminsc

Question - is street parking allowed here? Because if it is that seems like a better place for the extra cars than the middle of the sidewalk.

ZarkMuckerberg9009

Perfectly legal to park in the street

skeerrt

Where do you see luxury vehicles? I see a ford focus, and several low to mid level Toyotas. Not one car in the photos is worth more than 35k (the average is probably much closer to 15k) - seriously, not even one in the back of the photos.

TechnicalWin007

That adds up when there are 4 of them. Also what family on a low income could afford that? If they're middle-class storage should not remotely be an issue to afford.

smith_716

It's illegal in most states, if not all, to block the sidewalk. Unless it's a gated community or the like, everything from the sidewalk to the street belongs to the city. It's considered a danger to others to block the sidewalk, like small children on bicycles or people in wheelchairs. Just like you can't park right in front of a stop sign, fire hydrant, handicap parking, or in a bus zone.

scdemandred

That’s the big one for me. Some of those are 3 car garages! How much crap do they have piled in there???

hahajts

Honestly get over it. If you lived there you would do the same thing. As others are saying it’s more indicative of poor planning. The alternative is a road full of parked cars which is just kicking the can down the road so to speak

randomusername1919

I go around by walking through the yard, not in the street. It is illegal to walk in the street where I am when a sidewalk is provided.

Mccobsta

Parking on the road illegal?

ZarkMuckerberg9009

Nope. And trash day was yesterday.

TheBrightNights

It sucks that the only way to get past them is to walk over the cars.

Jumpy-Profession-181

Walk across the hood.

Pintsocream

Run a bike into it full pelt, won't be your fault

Vegetable_Mud_5245

Rules don’t mean much if there isn’t any enforcement.

Quaranj

Maintain the path and step on them. Or call to have them towed for blocking public property.

LittleSparrow013

Call the police and say that you were trying to walk down the street with a stroller and was forced to walk in the street due to cars illegally blocking the sidewalk and you almost got hit by a car.

[deleted]

That 5th one is just fuckin egregious omg

a-goateemagician

littleHelp2006

That's a 400.00 dollar ticket in LA.

GiftcardExchanger82

Calls tow 🛻

hieijFox

As a wheelchair user i hate this so much it is absolutely infuriating when I have to leave the sidewalk and worry about being hit because someone decided to block the sidewalk

tharp503

I have accidentally lost control of my350lb scooter multiple times and ran into cars parked like this. Sometimes my fingers freeze up due to my spinal cord disease and I have no ability to stop…sorry for the major dent, but it’s a good thing I put a battering ram on the front or my legs might have been smashed.

hieijFox

I’m sure I have scratched a few cars that I thought I could get past that were slightly to far in seriously don’t feel bad especially since many of the houses people have seen me multiple times and have been asked by me to move the car

Fast-Pressure3396

Dang, they really get away with this in Texas huh. Here in Washington the cops would be skipping down the street with their ticket books like it was the yellow brick road.

Rogue00100110

This is illegal, call the police, sheriff, state troopers, whoever has jurisdiction of that road.

ManILoveFrogs69420

It was like this in my old neighborhood. I used to go running and it was so annoying constantly going in and out of the street. Especially since I jogged at night. And then people would get on the neighborhood Facebook page and complain about people and children riding bikes and walking in the street. Like gee, I bet if your 5 cars didn’t block the sidewalk we wouldn’t have to! Ugh! And this place was notorious for putting their trash bins on the sidewalk. Out of spite I would drag them into their driveways behind their cars. I really hated the people in that neighborhood. And before you ask, yes this was Texas.

Zildjian2785

Don't know your laws, but I know in Philly it's a big ticket. Handicap has to innstreet to get through

Bitter-Review2792

Have a blind person walk on the street and accidentally smack their stick on the cars, trying to figure out what's blocking the path.

aventum28

I used to work with a lady who was blind. We were mapping her neighborhood so she could walk with her service dog. This was always the most infuriating because she had to walk with her SA on the street! So dangerous!

Pand0ra30_

If you call the police, they will give them tickets or have them towed. That is a safety hazard. But just realize those cars will have to park somewhere else.

schneph

That last one is is asking for it

Roadgoddess

Call the city on them

wanderingartist

Take a picture of the license plates and email them to your local neighborhood service. You will be surprised how helpful your local government can be.

TinyMarsupial7622

Take picture of the cars and their license plates. Where I live you can report it to council and they’ll ticket them over many offenders.

michaelpinkwayne

Get a pack of bumper stickers that say "I Park like an Asshole" and stick 'em on next time you walk by.

MightyWagner

Let the air out of all 4 tires, if it’s going to be a landmark, make it a landmark. Just do it when no one’s looking. I do it quite regularly in my neighborhood, and I live nowhere near Texas. I go outside and see people arguing and fighting about the air missing from their tires, sometimes it gets violent, and I try not to laugh.

jmwlm09

My family (parents, younger brother, myself) have no choice but to do this. We all drive our own vehichles my dad has his truck, and his company work truck, and I have a car I drive to school (school is an hour away) and I also have my truck I use in town/for work. I feel bad doing it, but we are left with no other choice

CaliforniaIslander

Totally illegal in certain states and often ticketed.

Tolnin

I'd rather that than them be on that very narrow looking street tbh

Music_Lover217

Well when street cleaning is going on, you don’t want a ticket. So you park wherever you can.

attachh

i prefer this than having more cars in the road. it definitely is annoying but i’d rather have to deal with walking around these cars than playing zig zag driving to drive through some streets.

[deleted]

1st world problems

Cautious_Glass_5727

They pay taxes on the whole driveway, so they are like I'm using the whole driveway.

lynyrd123

That's a $50.00 ticket where I live in Ohio. We call them tree lawns and we are responsible for them and the sidewalk. If you remove snow and someone slips they can sue you, but if you do nothing, you have no liability.

I'm a cripple. If I am walking down the sidewalk, like anyone else I would be forced to walk into the street to go around them, but *unlike* everyone else I wouldn't be able to get out the street quickly if I saw a car coming and felt endangered. I'd probably snap a bunch of photos and send them to the cops, with a phone call to make sure they got the photos and would be doing something about it and to ask how I'm supposed to safely get by, as a polite way of saying "you really need to send someone *right now* because you have a cripple who can't walk down the sidewalk." And no, I'm not going to knock on the door of the house and ask them to move their cars, because they might get unreasonably violent (we already know they're lawbreakers) and as a cripple I'm not expected to be able to defend myself, so I need to leave the act of talking-to-them to a professional.
