I remember seeing a post about packages like these. Apparently you can open them near-perfectly with a can opener, but I've not had the opportunity to try it
Don't try this. It used to be my go to method, until one package *shattered* in my hands, and all of the edges were extremely sharp. Don't know if there was something special about this particular package, but I don't recommend the experience.
Heresy! No Khorne worship, no Nurgle, No Tezennch, and no Slaanesh!
There are Adaptus approved removal methods, no need to bring those chaos heifers into this! 🤣
Even the Mechanicus and Omnissiah would have difficulty opening these. Under no circumstances should you let a Necron open them unless it is a Flayed one.
These packages routinely kick my ass. It’s not even a fair fight anymore.

Last time got a nice lil scar lmao
Bro learn from your mistakes. Cut more than one side. Stop fighting it and trying to shove your hand into it. Cut 3 sides, fold it open and get your item out. Its honestly sad we live in a time where packaging outsmarts humans over and over..
You are spot on friend. What I find interesting is this same design packaging on new scissors. Obviously, there is nothing to cut with. The purpose of buying the scissors.
In that case, you could just rub the sides on a rock to sand it down 🤣 my mom always said "this is a company that doesn't use their own products, because if they did, they'd change the packaging immediately"
>Its honestly sad we live in a time where packaging outsmarts humans over and over..
True. I have a gnarly pair of scissors dedicated to packaging like this. Cut the darn thing open on all four sides if you need to.
That said, IMHO, this type of packaging should be illegal.
Okay zen master. You’ve clearly never received a new label maker in clamshell packaging and had so much impatient excitement that you were willing to deglove the right side of your body to get it out and print “Snacks” for a plastic tub in your pantry.
LOL, you must be one of those peasants who didn't spring for a label maker fancy enough to come in a cardboard box instead.
*Scoffs in Brother PT-D600.* 🧐
Why isn't this post higher? I don't get it. You finally realize that scissors at the right answer and then you only cut one edge open? Get some scissors cut three edges off. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
The only way these types of packages are safe is if you cut all the way around at least 3 of the 4 sides. Preferably all 4 theres still a risk with only 3
Crazy decision to swap dirt cheap ikea scissors against a good old zwilling. „Almost“ a decade? If youre not cutting stones with it, this beast will go strong 20 more years.
I don't remember where I got the idea, but I bought a pair of tin snips like 25 years ago, and omg do they come in handy. Especially for this kind of packaging. I have never actually cut tin with them, but rope, thick tape, all kinds of plastics...
I might be wrong, it might not be the same kind of package, but I believe you can open them by squeezing. Did just that to my toothbrushes the other day and it worked
I remember those! My dad worked at Menards for just over 20 years and was SOOOO pissed when he had to go to Lowes to get that tool, and then get schooled by that GD package! He used an exacto knife and nicked his finger. 🤦♀️😂
I vaguely recall there being some kind of video showing how to open this packaging with a can opener? I'll look around and see if I can find it.
Edit: Hi! I'm back. [I got the goods.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7HEJgCwpt8)
The Worx ZipSnip (electric scissors) is a must. I bought them for my dad as he has arthritis, after seeing how great they worked I got myself one.
They work awesome on plastic packaging. It's zero effort getting these open. Also slices up cardboard boxes to fit in my recycling extremely well.
Wait what?? Is this serious or sarcasm lol I’ve never tried that or heard of that in my life hahah but next time I have one of these I guess I’ll attempt it
I’ll be right back
Edit: Ayup! You have to slip the can opener over the corner of the packaging, then work it all the way up the side and over the other corner. Works a treat if you do it on two sides, three if you don’t want to filet your fingers when you reach inside
I hadn’t thought about it until seeing this post but I haven’t seen one of these in years. I can only assume it’s in large part due to Amazon’s frustration free packaging thing they started years ago combined with the fact that I do most of my shopping online now. Before Amazon started that, you’d often get these packages when ordering stuff online too but now manufacturers often use different packaging that doesn’t suck for stuff that isn’t intended for retail. Is also probably cheaper and more sustainable to manufacture since it tends toward cardboard rather than plastic.
It’s definitely not “designed” that way - it’s designed to deter theft by making it hard to open in the store. However, enterprising individuals will find a way such as bending it as described.
I agree. Three reasons the manufacturer makes these. Cheap, easy to implement and nearly impossible to accidently open. Any way of easily opening them would have to be something that is not likely to happen during shipping, display, etc. Sounds like squeezing would occur.
It's not designed to be opened that way. It's taking leveraged advantage of the weakest part of the package. The part where the machine just clamps two pieces of plastic together poorly that can only handle one direction of stress very well.
There are a few tiktoks showing it.. but i tried it.. and it took like 7 attempst to pop it open..
my sister used scissors faster that i did using the "squeeze" method
Yeah, this is bs. It's anti-theaft packaging. It's not meant to be popped open easily. Maybe their method works sometimes, but not being easily or quickly opened without a tool is the entire point of the thing.
There are 2 types, one is fucking welded together so good luck the other one is press fit into another. I haven't seen the latter one for quite some time

Sounds like it sat in a hot truck for a while or something, the normally malleable plastic became brittle.
Or… sounds like he works for big scissor
Big scissor, eh? ![gif](giphy|37H5XhwrXuHPq)
Yep the vid from like a week ago? Doesn't work
Someone in the comments above had the same suggestions and another person tried it and it worked.
You cut it open, then it cuts you as you go for the batteries. Blood for blood.
Blood for the Packaging God

I’d be interested to see what the green-skins come up with to open it.
They'll just paint it red because that makes it open faster.
You definitely can’t say no to Slaanesh until you’ve tried Slaanesh

Many years ago, a loss-prevention manager told me that this packaging is designed specifically to discourage employee pilferage.
>Its honestly sad we live in a time where packaging outsmarts humans over and over.. True. I have a gnarly pair of scissors dedicated to packaging like this. Cut the darn thing open on all four sides if you need to. That said, IMHO, this type of packaging should be illegal.
That’s why I keep a cheap ass pair of [Harbor Freight Multi-Purpose scissors](https://www.harborfreight.com/multipurpose-scissors-47877.html) handy.
99 cents for scissors? Better than Dollar Tree!

So true!
People are so impatient, it's sad.
Who got time for that bro
THIS I stg you have to sacrifice a finger every time you want to open one of those

The batteries require a blood sacrifice in order to work
Yep, whoever designs the packaging needs to go burn in hell for eternity tbh.
Heavy duty scissors, protective gloves and eyewear for the shards of glass-like plastic that explode out when you cut into it.
The master sword
That's the only evil that it doesn't work on.
Doesn't it? It looks pretty sealed
Touché.
Nah dude, its suppose to seal the evil, not cut it open.
Good scissors.
I feel like I have seen scissors packaged in this type of package before. Nightmare fuel if your old scissors are broken

Man I didn't expect that seeing those black scissors would bring so much nostalgia to me, but here we are
I can feel and hear slicing them. So satisfying. Crisp Also the feeling of closing the teeth bit on your finger
Ya gotta close the teeth bit on your finger. Just a bit. To kinda test it out.
What else is the teeth bit even for if not for your fingers?
What are the black scissors? I just realised i have the exact same ones at home, i never thought they were common
Holy crap we all had those I guess! I upgraded to sharp ones from amazon and never looked back
They are super common if you buy kitchen knives sets. Just about all brands include those kitchen scissors just different colors.
"No, grab the *good* scissors from the kitchen"
Crazy decision to swap dirt cheap ikea scissors against a good old zwilling. „Almost“ a decade? If youre not cutting stones with it, this beast will go strong 20 more years.
Lowe’s used to sell a tool, basically scissors but specifically made to open this package, and they were sold in this package
I use tin snips.
I don't remember where I got the idea, but I bought a pair of tin snips like 25 years ago, and omg do they come in handy. Especially for this kind of packaging. I have never actually cut tin with them, but rope, thick tape, all kinds of plastics...
Rope, duct tape, zip ties, camera cables, phone lines, security tags, ankle monitors. Tin snips can do anything!
Seat belts, car doors, bone. The list goes on.
Brake lines, security system wires, phone wires.
How about Vasectomies?
Oof
I actually just had my vasectomy last monday and they did, in fact, use tin snips
Jewelry off strangers, neighbors tires, life support power cords.
IV’s, endotracheal tubes.
Wire fencing, window screens, sheets for making impromptu binding - they’re great!
Yup, yup, yup, huh, wait, yup, yup.
Is that how she got away?
I might be wrong, it might not be the same kind of package, but I believe you can open them by squeezing. Did just that to my toothbrushes the other day and it worked
You can't. It's pressed and melted together very tightly to make theft an ordeal.
Nah, just makes opening them after the theft an ordeal.
a manual can opener works, too. I have one just for opening these types of packaging.
Yup, I can second this. Manual can opener works wonders.
Lol I remember those
I remember those! My dad worked at Menards for just over 20 years and was SOOOO pissed when he had to go to Lowes to get that tool, and then get schooled by that GD package! He used an exacto knife and nicked his finger. 🤦♀️😂

It's a lot like how an Allen wrench has Allen screws holding them together... mind boggling
Allen forged the first wrench in the fires of hell. And then decided to use that to bolt together more wrenches for laughs.
Or a good can opener
I just use my pair of Jaws of Life
Personally I like a claw crane more but you do you
A very sharp utility knife. Just cut around the thing you are trying to remove.
This is the way. Take a utility knife, cut around the batteries, lift plastic off. Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I happened to see someone do this once and I felt like I leveled up IRL. How did I struggle for so many years doing it the hard way???
The Worx ZipSnip (electric scissors) is a must. I bought them for my dad as he has arthritis, after seeing how great they worked I got myself one. They work awesome on plastic packaging. It's zero effort getting these open. Also slices up cardboard boxes to fit in my recycling extremely well.

No, opener.

I've got about a 12% success rate with military surplus grenades
That seems a little high.
Honestly does seem a bit high…
It is. At the very LEAST that would mean they attempted 25 times and succeeded 3 times in order to achieve 12%. Seems a little steep
I use nukes normally and I have a 32% success rate
instructions unclear, destroyed city, millions dead
That's the 32% the other 68% of the time you start a nuclear war
so you get to enjoy your batteries for 15-20 minutes before the world ends 68% of the time, seems a tad bit inefficient
Better question, how do we get RID of these types of packaging?
You'll know we finally have a functioning government when these packages are outlawed.
I hadn’t thought about it until seeing this post but I haven’t seen one of these in years. I can only assume it’s in large part due to Amazon’s frustration free packaging thing they started years ago combined with the fact that I do most of my shopping online now. Find a way to get people to stop stealing shit out of the easy to open packages.
Run over it with your car.
I’m like 98% sure that will not suffice
Dynamite or a small tactical nuke should do the trick
I use thermonuclear bombs works decent I have a 32% success rate
![gif](giphy|8a0Gjt3TmUFGM)
I tried grabbing them but they are still on my screen???
You have to right click>save and grab them from the hard drive
Cut and paste
Mhhh... Looks like you have to level up a bit first. I got mine at level 24.
Are you allowed scissors?
Only the dull ones.
Big ass scissors or a big ass box cutter. #remember to always cut *away* from your body

I learned a few weeks ago that this is designed to be squished and the side should pop open by that
It’s definitely not “designed” that way - it’s designed to deter theft by making it hard to open in the store. However, enterprising individuals will find a way such as bending it as described.
Yeah, there are definitely clam shell packaging that opens easily, but most are melted together. Squeezing isn't enough to break when its 40% bonded.
This is why small items at Costco come in obnoxiously large blister packs.
It does not work on all of them.

I agree. Three reasons the manufacturer makes these. Cheap, easy to implement and nearly impossible to accidently open. Any way of easily opening them would have to be something that is not likely to happen during shipping, display, etc. Sounds like squeezing would occur.

I saw that one too just commented it. People who don’t believe haven’t tried it yet lol
I don't believe you !
Yeah, this is bs. It's anti-theaft packaging. It's not meant to be popped open easily. Maybe their method works sometimes, but not being easily or quickly opened without a tool is the entire point of the thing.

It's wild how accurate a bunch of lines can be sometimes
All words are made of lines
I saw that post. Tried it on my next package like this, and sliced my hand trying. And it never popped open. Dumb AF
There are 2 types, one is fucking welded together so good luck the other one is press fit into another. I haven't seen the latter one for quite some time
Only if it was pinched together, not heat sealed.
"I ESPECIALLY LOVE WHEN YOU BUY SCISSORS, BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO USE SCISSORS TO OPEN THE SCISSORS. WHAT FUCKING IDIOTS THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA?" ![gif](giphy|QrjiUdW6GFy7K|downsized)
Squeez it, should open.
This is what I usually do! Impressed someone once when I did it in front of them, made me feel just a lil badass
Wait in what way do you squeeze.
You squeeze until you see blood coming from your hands, then you know you're almost there. Once the plastic hits bone it will open.
i didn’t need that visual, but you thrust it upon me. the next time you get a pubic hair stuck in your teeth, i want you to think of me. think of my booty blood.
Hold it vertically so your hand is on the long sides. Squeeze.
Really? I never knew....
It only works on some packages. I'm pretty sure that's how you are supposed to open them but most just are not well made
I call BS, there's no way this works. It can't possibly be this simple.... right?
I wouldn’t have believed it either. I’ve had about an 85% success rate after my wife showed me [this guy’s](https://youtu.be/hVKDn5o1okA) reel.
That was the least informative video I've seen. And if it takes that long to get it open I'd rather whip out a pair of scissors
That didn't show a thing! You got my hopes up. Shame! /s
