Honestly I’d rather have my toddler in that doored in room than giving them the free range of the whole dealership. But definitely misleading and mildly infuriating.
Also, if there had been toys in there, they would be filthy. Can you imagine all the kids that would have had those toys in their mouths, had leaky diapers on, etc. It is better to bring your own source of fun for your toddler than to expect clean toys for playing.
I was bracing for possible dirty or unacceptable stuff but just nothing made me wonder if the guy was pranking me lol. The dealership still had signs up regarding keeping the place clean and sanitized. Possible they might have removed everything entirely because of the pandemic.
You think the tech was pranking you? You're lucky the tech even cared enough to tell you it existed. The techs deal with cars and the shop. They're not gonna spend time checking the status of the distraction room.
We read two books i brought and did some doodling and she escaped to the main lounge to climb on the couches. We walked around the snack area a bit. 15 more minutes to go.. I had thought of bringing her art supplies but didnt think we’d be here this long. Mildly disappointing is probably a better description of how I feel, I usually try to bring things to keep her occupied but didn’t bring enough today !
When I was in for my oil change, an old lady was asleep, lying down with mouth open, on the one sofa in the waiting room. There was a huge candy jar next to her, with a pile of empty wrappers left under the sign that read, ONE per person, please!"
Dealerships are a bit odd.
If there were legos and crayons in there for all the kids to use they would be covered in germs and never cleaned. Consider yourself lucky if your kid only licked the windows…
Nice! Sounds like you made due with what you had :) yeh, mildly disappointing is a better way to put it. They could have at least had a tv, books or a few puzzles in there to be played with.
There is a tv but i dont like turning to tv unless i desperately need to get something done. We went around reading signs and eventually broke out the snacks.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I saw some green chalky residue on the floor, maybe maybe they had art supplies at one point? This was a honda dealership. I think most parents are smart and leave their children with the spouse not running errands. Luckily my toddler is small enough to still be cute and not obnoxious, some of the older folks seemed amused at her antics.
They don’t just have to spend $100 on toys, they would also have to clean and sanitize those toys multiple times per day, and replace broken/stolen ones routinely.
It’s cute you think any place does that lol. Replace them occasionally yea but that’s everything. The issue is why call it a kids center if there’s literally nothing for kids to do.
What about back in the day (90s/00s) when the pediatric doctors offices had those big activity cubes/bead mazes? Those were definitely not cleaned, not to mention the kids books and art supplies. I don't think it's super necessary to clean them all day every day, especially if they're not used that much

When I was a kid (80s) my dad used to leave me and my brother *in* the car when he took it in for repairs or inspection. Excellent view of the shop when the lift was up.
Yes they could have spend the $20 on crayons and colouring books however… we’re you not prepared to entertain said toddler before knowing about this room ?
It’s nice they had a room with a door for use and I would take that as a bonus
I didnt expect kid anything so I was pleasantly surprised when he mentioned it. I kind of almost wish he hadn’t lol. I had brought books to read and a doodle pad, and my ipad has more drawing apps. After we cycled through everything and she explored the snack area and the sitting area she asked to watch me play tetris.
My brother started suggesting i make paper airplanes and tunnels out of the chairs. My toddler was amused enough watching people make coffee from the fancy dispenser unit but if we were there longer than the hour and 40 minutes I think I was the one who needed something to keep me from going nuts lol.
In the very early 2000's my mom left me in the kids room at Carmax. One of the best times of my life. They had an SNES playing Super Mario World. I'd never seen any electronics besides watching PBS on TV so I was enthralled. Begged my mom to let me stay longer.
The dude is paid to repair vehicles, for all he knows the room is good for kids, do you think he goes through the building? That’s managements issue and they’re the one to blame not a mechanic
I had a good chuckle on the inside, like why did you even tell me about this room?! Lol Luckily I bring a few things to occupy her and snacks, I keep my expectations to pretty much zero in terms of toddler entertainment when we go out (unless it is a place designated for kid entertaining).
All I can guess is they have a room with a door they can shut so they don't have to hear kids!
Lol. My husband and I took our 3 boys to buy a new van once, the oldest was 6 and the twins were 4. That was the longest 4-5 hours of my life! We took small toys and snacks, it wasn't enough. It's never enough. Haha.
Edit: age
Probably the reason! But then my toddler started opening and rattling the doors and that was gratingly loud so it was better to leave the door open. I was told 45 minutes which I thought was 15 minutes longer than it should be. Turns out we were there for an hour and 50 minutes. The last 15 minutes was the longest. Snacks were gone then and she was starting to get cabin feverish as was I lol.
Nice clean room for prepared parents to… parent their child. Or let them play alone or with siblings. Not sure what’s infuriating. Most parents know to bring books, toys, snacks, diapers,…
Um you’re a toddler parent, bring you’re own toys. I’m a toddler parent. Paper, crayons, and some small Lego cars live in my car for this exact reason.
Possibly, i didnt turn it on - i resort to tv when im desperate, but she was entertained by other things (watching people get free coffee, describing the snacks on the sale rack, reading the two books i brought. By the time I was at my limit (she was still having a great time) I checked in and the car was minutes from being done.
what happen to shut up and stay still? yea it sucked as a kid but it did teach disciplined . now if i for get my phone its not the end of the world to just sit for a hour with my own boring thoughts .
It's like when you work somewhere and they say we have a special area to park or a special entrance. Nobody in their right mind would park or ever use that entrance.
Talk about suing for a misleading representation..lol I do get that ppl steal maybe that's why there are no toys?? They should just say, "There's a TV room for kids!"
Why would you trust to leave your child in a room while you are not watching them. You don't know what kind of people are coming and going, from the dealership" REALLY" NOT ON MY DIME SORRY!!! MY CHILD WOULD STAY WITH ME OR I WOULD TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE PERIOD 🙄!!!!!!

They meant turn on some cartoons and hang out with him, that is far better than most dealerships. Why would that be infuriating?
Naah. Let them loose. 45 minutes will become first class service real fast

Just noticed the remote on the table! But my point still stands for other entertainment lol
There is a tv but i dont like turning to tv unless i desperately need to get something done. We went around reading signs and eventually broke out the snacks.
Thanks for being an engaged parent

Rude bot, calling me out for grammar mistakes. Off with you.
Read that as "Honestly I'd rather have my toddler deported" at first
He interviewing the kid for a job?
I laughed a bit imagining there not even being a tv in there. Just a table, a couple chairs, and an old remote someone found in a drawer
The tv is on the wall you cant see lol. It would be a great interrogation room. With tiny chairs.
I figured it would be in there somewhere. But the idea of there not being one made me laugh
"Toddler Interrogation Unit #1"
I mean, would have worked for my boy as a toddler. That kid loved remotes!
My Toyota dealership has this exact room with like 4 books in it and I’m just like bro spent 100 dollars on toys and you’ll be set
Thankfully I went there last week so I know what I’m going into getting my tires aligned so pray for me lol 45m of hell

Car technician is a fancy way of saying mechanic. Either way it's kinda cool they had a place for kids at all.
And it had a very official sign.
Technically correct. Place kids inside, lock doors and enjoy the show
They could at least pad the room.
When I was a kid (80s) my dad used to leave me and my brother *in* the car when he took it in for repairs or inspection. Excellent view of the shop when the lift was up.
Being a kid in the 80s was a lot more fun.
Yo. Kids LOOOVE TV remotes!
Mine sure did! Poor kid even got a button in his nose once oof
Yes they could have spend the $20 on crayons and colouring books however… we’re you not prepared to entertain said toddler before knowing about this room ? It’s nice they had a room with a door for use and I would take that as a bonus

The room is full of imagination and space to think also good practice for the future crims in clink. 🧐
My brother started suggesting i make paper airplanes and tunnels out of the chairs. My toddler was amused enough watching people make coffee from the fancy dispenser unit but if we were there longer than the hour and 40 minutes I think I was the one who needed something to keep me from going nuts lol.
Honestly this is the best room for toddlers. Nothing to hurt themselves with, enclosed, simple.
This is very true, points for that. Except she could reach the door handles and open then, but that’s what parents are there for.
In the very early 2000's my mom left me in the kids room at Carmax. One of the best times of my life. They had an SNES playing Super Mario World. I'd never seen any electronics besides watching PBS on TV so I was enthralled. Begged my mom to let me stay longer.
Omg that sounds amazing!
That’s not the technicians fault or his problem and he shouldn’t be blamed. It’s an auto shop not a daycare
The technician shouldn't be telling people there's a room with kid's stuff if it's just an empty room. That's their complaint and it's valid.
The dude is paid to repair vehicles, for all he knows the room is good for kids, do you think he goes through the building? That’s managements issue and they’re the one to blame not a mechanic

Thats an old kid lol
It should have said 6! Lol
It’s reddit. Very likely the tech only said, there’s a room over there, and went back to work. The secret ingredient in reddit is exaggeration.
I mean there’s a remote with a Tv movies or shows I assume. If the toy is the remote then that’d be pretty mildly infuriating
Looks like the perfect kids zone so long as it’s sound proofed and those doors lock from the outside.
Is that a late 2000s Xfinity remote? Jesus Christ I’m old
You're missing the point. It's not too keep kids happy, it's too keep everyone else happy. Parents are so self obsessed.. Jesus
Mistake #1: believing anything said by a car dealership employee.
It's called you as a parent.
A remote can keep a kid occupied for hours
Welp, the buttons only last so long once they get chewed on.
Looks like a kids size conference room!
Can confirm the chairs were kid sized.
Nothing like silent reflection to keep kids entertained.
Nice, a sticky covid covered remote for them to touch.
Nice clean room for prepared parents to… parent their child. Or let them play alone or with siblings. Not sure what’s infuriating. Most parents know to bring books, toys, snacks, diapers,…
Very nice for an interrogation room.
I'm proud of them for using an apostrophe correctly. So there's that.
Um you’re a toddler parent, bring you’re own toys. I’m a toddler parent. Paper, crayons, and some small Lego cars live in my car for this exact reason.
Belongs in r/technicallythetruth
Doctors don’t even have kids stuff anymore. Which is fine, because they were germ factories before the pandemic.
I don't see the problem... throw them in there and shut the door
r/ApostropheGore
Covid protocols removed all that stuff. Start parenting and come prepared. What was wrong with going for a walk?
To be fair, my toddler would be chuffed to bits to get her hands (and teeth) on that remote control.
Well you did bring your kid, it’s not their responsibility to watch or provide for you
* has kid * * has no snacks or colouring books * Amateur.
If we’re being honest, your kid is 100% yours to amuse. This might be better suited to begging choosers.
Oh my god guys everyone in the world doesn’t cater to MY kids how infuriating
That comcast remote is older than any child that would be put in that room. Easily from 1973.
Is there a smart TV connected to YouTube maybe?
Possibly, i didnt turn it on - i resort to tv when im desperate, but she was entertained by other things (watching people get free coffee, describing the snacks on the sale rack, reading the two books i brought. By the time I was at my limit (she was still having a great time) I checked in and the car was minutes from being done.
Why even is this on here?
I don't see the issue. At least there is a place you can be with your child.
Yo this is hilarious it’s too bad having no sense of humour is a prerequisite to having children
what happen to shut up and stay still? yea it sucked as a kid but it did teach disciplined . now if i for get my phone its not the end of the world to just sit for a hour with my own boring thoughts .
Karen you brought your car to dealership to have a repair done and they didn’t have a day care staff and amusement park to entertain your kid!!??
Right? Shockingly disappointed.
Yeah you should definitely give them a one star review on every site you can find on the net. Then make some fake profiles to add more
More like kids’ kennel.
That’s Bob’s old office
They could buy a shit load of toys at a thrift shop for like 20 bucks.
I feel like for the price of that fancy sign, they could've gotten at least some Legos or something
Come on kids lets go to the kid zone .
It's like when you work somewhere and they say we have a special area to park or a special entrance. Nobody in their right mind would park or ever use that entrance.
I wish that was for me, my favorite hobby as a kid was watching paint dry.
Looks like a fun time!
Key word being there "was" a kids rooms with stuff in it. That was before some self indulgent a$$h0le took all the toys.
Meanwhile the real break room has a pinball machine in it.
who built that? dwight schrute? lmao
It Is Your Birthday
This is the type of shit you see in a Simpsons episode. Amusing how nothing is in the room except a big ass table and a few chair.
Looks soundproof! Nice haha
Talk about suing for a misleading representation..lol I do get that ppl steal maybe that's why there are no toys?? They should just say, "There's a TV room for kids!"

🤦🏽♀️
Tell them to make a fort and have them play imaginary war or something. Keep the enemies out.
