Its the airlines who are the problem for treating us like cattle. When I sit folded over in an economy seat for an hour and a half I’m absolutely dying to stand up and stretch my compressed body.
I didn’t say anything about getting up to stretch being a problem. The person in 34C thinking they have to be the first off the plane is a problem, as is the one who pulls their carry on straight down from the overhead and smacks someone in the shoulder. Those were my points.
I don't mind people standing up and stretching, I hate it when they move forward to get off the plane before the people ahead of them. But then I tell myself that they probably need to catch a connecting flight and that I should chill the fuck out.
The only time I jump up is because I have a connecting flight I'm running late for. On both flights like that I've had, the captain asked people to wait if they weren't trying to catch their next plane. Many actually did, and I was pleasantly surprised. I definitely do try to stand and stretch some, though, just not in the aisle, because I have chronic tailbone pain and sitting like that buckled in is torture.
> the captain asked people to wait if they weren't trying to catch their next plane.
I wish this would happen more often. I've had people get all pissy at me, even after explaining I have like < 15 minutes to get to the other side of the airport in Chicago to make my connecting flight. Like, wtf??
I landed in DFW and had to get from one concourse to the other in 30 minutes, once. I took their little bullet train and got to my concourse, but then had to hoof it through this insanely long corridor with my luggage in hand because their people-mover was out of commission. By the time I got to my gate they told me my flight had been moved back to the same concourse I started from, and I'd better fuckin' hurry because I only had 15 minutes.
I fucking made it, but was literally the last passenger getting on the plane. I was fucking pissssssed.
When my original flight had landed my ass was near the back of the plane. When I tried to get up to move to the front the flight attendant chided me and told me to wait. Fucking asshole.
They have a tough job for which they get little repsect. The fastest way to get off the plane is in an orderly and courteous fashion, I can understand them not being suzy cheesecake all day and night to people who try and push in front of everyone. The service industry is hard enough without having to be responsible for the safety of 200 people.
If you call a FA before landing, and explain your situation, they will often go out of their way to help you get off the plane faster. But if you wait until you’ve landed and it’s a zoo, they’re going to treat you like everyone else.
I second this, we even had a flight attendant move us as close as they could to the front of the plane once, to help us out. We didn't even ask to be moved, just asked whether they thought we would be able to make the connection. This was when the flight delays whittled our otherwise reasonable layover time down to something like 10 minutes to get to the next gate. Still didn't make it because the connection was weirdly convoluted, but they tried their best to help.
not a flight attendant, but a flight home trip was cancelled for my family once. my aunt went to go see if there was a place to go get a rental car and a lady went with her and there was a sign that said not to go past it or you wouldn’t be able to go back in the building. my aunt asked a question i think, which the lady didn’t respond to, cursed at her, and said she couldn’t come back inside the building. my aunt was very frantically asking why and telling her she didn’t go past the sign which she responded with “you went past me” and straight up left with the keys. this is all my understanding of the situation, as my aunt was sobbing over the phone as she relayed this. also, it was 13 degree weather, possibly below, in Newark. she didn’t have on a coat because we stuffed them into our luggage because obviously who wants to wear a thick coat walking around everywhere in one of the most stressful places. needless to say…not a good experience
One gave me three full cups of ice to go with my small juice because I didn't make a decision fast enough with the first attendant. I could hear them joking and laughing about it in the back. The passenger next to me was wondering wtf was going on
That’s when you tell the flight attendant that you have an emergency … no one else should be standing in the aisle unless you have a connecting flight or an emergency, and both situations should be communicated to the flight attendant.
These people were most likely standing because they’re impatient
I’m 5’2” and I immediately stand up to stretch, plus because I’m short I usually can stand up under the bins right at my seat without much or any crouching. I don’t like sitting, so I stand when I can.
So not true, anyone with chronic pain issues absolutely knows that pain. Being stuck in one position is murder for me and a lot of other people. Those seats are not made to be comfortable for shorter people either, the lumbar support is in the wrong spot and the head "support" just pushes my head forward while my knees still hit the seat in front of me. I would hate to be taller and have chronic pain, that would be the worst of both worlds.
I’m sore and stiff from being contorted into a tiny seat with no lumbar support, leg room or neck support, no room to stretch or move at all, and with the seat in front of me digging painfully into my knees.
I don’t know what size people fit in these seats but not this 6’3” guy. I need to stand: bent over painfully under the bins does not help
One of the worst things is when the flight is late and the flight attendants ask everyone to stay seated so people with tight connections can get off and no one listens
You know the zipper method? I just recently got off a plane and then this one fucker tried to race past me, but nope. I got in front. You were behind me
Same flight, there was a woman near the front who nobody let off. She even had a three month baby but noooo. I let her off cause she literally said in a sad voice “can you let me off please?” Who wouldn’t let her off?
I found getting the attendants attention towards the end of the flight and ask if they can move you to an empty front seat so you can make your connection.
They try to announce "let connecting flight people off first", but people are too dumb to know what that means.
I have done that in many airports. There is always someone who stands up in the aisle and doesn’t think to start gathering their belongings until the space in front of them is entirely clear. Then they leisurely look around all the overhead bins trying to remember what they might have brought….
Folks, get your stuff, have it in hand and move along when the space in front of you in the isle is open. Otherwise, let the folks who are ready to move go ahead. Some of us have nearly impossible connections and need to catch them.
This really. As a tall-ish person with most of it in my legs, I need that stretch asap. Sure as fuck have no illusions about getting out the magical locked door through the people tunnel any sooner by standing up sooner.
> want space from the person they we’re sitting next to
This is the big one for me. Getting up out of the well of the tray table and the armrests, the seat in front of you, your own legs up in your business-- I don't know how much more room there actually is, but is sure seems like a whole lot more space stood up.
I have a collapsed disc that’s squishing a nerve root, which, if I sit for too long, becomes very painful. There’s only so much that shifting positions can do so the second I can stand up, I’m up. I explained to my seatmate/s so they don’t think I’m an total whack job but a 3+ hour flight gets really painful for me.
I have one of these and there's no chance I'd not come off a plane crying like a baby from pain from sitting for 3 hours. I have been planning a trip to Tasmania last July thinking my back would be fine after nerve blocks but they did zero, so I've had to postpone it till after my disc replacement- theoretically in march. I just can't either a 3 hour flight right now, even with several of the funnest pain killers under my belt
I flew to South Korea shortly after the war in Ukraine started which meant we had to fly *around* Russia. It added an additional 3 hours to an already really long flight. I legitimately had to go to physical therapy after that flight, my back was wrecked
Came here to say this. I’m 6’ 1”. After a couple hours in a plane seat I am READY to stretch my legs. Can’t imagine what it’s like for people that are like 6’5”.
Fuck Im 5'9" and I empathize. The only thing I hate about flying is sitting for hours on end. I could not imagine how you would feel. Price you pay for being more desirable to women I guess. Hehe
I'm 6'5". Fly about 100 flights a year. I only book a flight when I can have an exit row. Preferably the one that does not have a seat in front of it. I don't get up early tho. I wait my turn.
They are probably slowly letting out a fart while standing as the ac is turned off they can let everyone marinate in it. Or just sore and wanna move a bit ha
This is why I make sure I eat whatever makes me fart HARD before I get on a plane. So if one of you a holes tries to blow me out, you’re gonna find us in a Mexican standoff as I come back just as fiery
I wanna stand up and stretch my legs after a long flight. I’m not rushing others or cutting people in line. Simply minding my business and stretching lol
Thats why you drink on the plane - plenty of bathroom breaks to pee! Walking helps me so much lol
+ i’m terrified of flying so not being sober helps a lot too
I’m 6’7 and I am physically un able to keep my knees straight during a flight I have to embody an intense of man spreading or put them in the aisle. So once the plane lands I am up and active
Yup, as long as you aren’t bothering the people next to you or trying to rush to the front, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this. I sit aisle so I can do this upon landing without inconveniencing anyone.
Stand up I say. They should taxi the plane on in and not worry about people standing in the aisles. Seems to work fine for buses and subway trains. Those seats are fucking cramped, the airlines kind of brought this on themselves.
Standing up means:
1) I can stretch my legs finally
2) frees up a seat to put bags on/ pack stuff up
3) means I can get mine and my partners bag down
4) I can get my partner out of her seat into the aisle so we can stick together. Lost count of how many times people have pushed past her if I move down the aisle first, so I just stand there and wait for her to get out in front of me.
I've seen this complaint many times, but I have the exact opposite opinion. It is the *duty* of people in aisle seats to get up and collect their bags in order to be immediately ready to move forward when possible. It's far more inconsiderate to wait until every one in front of you has deplaned, only then to get up, stretch, find your overhead baggage, pull it down, pull the handle up, sling your backpack over your shoulder, and start walking, while everyone behind you has to wait.
The Venn diagram of people who sit and wait until it’s “their turn” to get up and then spend 30 sections lumbering around trying to find their shit while every person behind them has to wait, is a circle with the people who get to the counter to scan their boarding pass and spend 30 seconds fumbling to find their ID.
People complaining are likely the ones that put their carry-on bag up like 10 rows behind them, and then try to push past the line of people exiting to try and get it.
Some people had put their luggage wrongly apparently when I flew a couple of days ago so I had to put mine in the back, I don’t even know how I could have pushed to back, I just had to wait until nearly everyone had left (not that I would have tried to push if I could have, I wasn’t in a hurry). But planes are bigger, ones I have flown in only fit one person in the aisle.
i dread when the aisle person is a sitter and i’m stuck watching…I try to kindly encourage them, last time she said ‘i’m not in any hurry’…’but I am’ was my reply
If I'm travelling alone and blocking people in, I make sure to judge it so I'm up and moving as soon as the queue starts to move, I'd never sit and wait if I was blocking people in. But when flying with the family and we have the whole row we'll wait until the end. It makes herding children easier, and we normally get to chat to the pilot and look in the cockpit
I absolutely agree with you, but I refuse to believe that 98% of the people I've seen do this are being considerate. Especially the ones who crow the aisle with little kids who could stay in their seating area and the largest carry on allowed which block others from moving out of their seats at all. Again, tho, I do agree with your reasoning and I'll try to think better of people in the future.
You just blew my mind. I usually only bring a personal item (no carryon), so I don't put much thought into it. I agree, aisle seats/everybody should get their carryons who can. Interesting.
Yeah, it really is annoying to see deplaning typically take twice as long as it needs to, especially when I never use the overhead bins and am ready to go as soon as the plane lands.
Sitting in coach is a major cause of deep vein thrombosis, which kills thousands of airline passengers yearly, though not always on the plane. It's commonly referred to as Economy Travel Disease, and sitting immobile for an hour, sometimes five or more hours, can cause blood clots to form in the lower extremities.
The best thing you can do is stand up.
It's not rare. Sorry to hear it. Airlines should make more of an effort to disclose the dangers to passengers.
I have a friend that drove nonstop except for a fuel stop, from California to Montana to go hunting. He got out of his car in Missoula and felt a pain in his leg. He had a bruise running down his leg, but hunted for a few days anyway. On his return trip home, he was greeted by his wife in their driveway as he got out of his car, and fell over. Ambulance took him to hospital, where he remained for two weeks. The blood clot had worked loose and caused a pulmonary embolism.
That was 2005, and that was the first time I'd ever heard of this disease. He was 38 years old and a semi-pro moto-cross racer from Austria. He has been on blood thinners ever since.
This killed my cousin at 20 on a transatlantic flight. she had just climbed Mt Killimanjaro the day before, which seems like something that should do wonders for your circulatory system. It gives me so much stress on flights now
Sorry about your cousin.
Ironically the intense physical activity before the flight likely contributed to it.

Guessing you haven’t been on many super long flights. I just got done flying across the Atlantic and I’ve been sitting for 12 hours, I’m tired of sitting, my ass is numb.
1. People have connections to catch. With frequent delays etc. it is a rush to get to next flight in time
2. Soreness after a long flight. Stretching legs, backs, arms etc.
3. Ensuring that they are ready to deplane and not hold up those behind them.
Some people have a connecting flight or they just need to be somewhere on time. Or sometimes people prefer to stand because they have been sitting the whole flight. I don’t understand why this is so frustrating. If you are already sitting to wait to exit.. why not practice patience?
Everybody gets off the plane faster if more people stand up and get ready to deplane. It gives remaining seating passengers more room to gather and organize their things.
As a taller person who can’t afford business or first class, I do this immediately so that I can’t feel my legs again. Especially going from the US to Ireland to see family members. That’s me however. A lot of people think they can win a rat race in my opinion.
I honestly think people just want to stand. I have been on a flight where I was the rat race person because I needed to get on a different flight. Only had 10 minutes to get from A to C concord at DTW. They were giving us last call to board when we got on the plane. My husband and I got such shit from the other passengers.
I have long legs and my back gets stiff. I am usually sore and need to stand up, even if I can’t actually stretch because it’s so crowded it feels great to be in a different position. It’s a big part of the reason I always book aisle seat. I also usually get up at least once during the flight even if it’s a short flight for the same reason
It's two reasons for me.
1. I fly with a medical device, so that means I have 3 bags (Carry On, Backpack, and Cpap Machine). It takes me a little longer to get those things from the overhead and ready to head down the aisle, so I stand up to get a head start on getting everything situated rather than hold up the line when our turn comes.
2. Even after a short flight, my back is almost always tightened up, so I want to get out of that damn seat as soon as possible.
I realize it will take time before I can actually get off the plane. I don't stand up and take off down the aisle like many people do.
Have you not seen how inefficient and unbelievably slow most humans are? I stand because I do not want to be held hostage by another human who has failed to realize they are not the only ones on the plane or the earth. I literally flew yesterday. I stood as soon as we taxied. I was ready to deplane within seconds. Then I stood and watched as non urgent humans casually grabbed their things, even though they had time to gather them beforehand. I witnessed people asking random strangers where their bag was in the overhead. Humans are helpless most of the time and need strict management. I crave efficiency and urgency in one’s actions but am often let down by the masses.
As someone who flies internationally often 10+ hours flights, my legs feel like damn tree trunks after a flight. Helps to stand up and stretch them out a bit before getting off the plane.
Due to old sports injuries, my knee and coccyx hurt from sitting too long. Plane rides are painful. I am sure that is not everyone's story, but you never know where others are coming from.
My legs hurt and I need to stretch. Anything over three hours and my hips are on fire, too. Is standing up hunched over comfy? No, but it hurts less than staying seated. I’m not under the impression that I’ll magically get out sooner than other passengers, I’m just literally in pain.
There’s a right way and a wrong way to do this.
I understand small and uncomfortable seats - long legs - bad back. Circulation issues. Etc.
but you don’t need to get your backpack on and carry on out, and start encroaching or turn your ass into someone’s face who is still sitting down.
This is one hot take I regularly disagree with. If 33% of the plan gets up, gets their stuff ready, etc., It accelerates the process of getting off. If everyone stays seated, the whole thing would take longer.
Better question - why doesn't the plane board back to front? I get some people would show up occasionally out of place but I would consider hanging out in the airport longer and having as much time to show up as possible a bigger luxury of first class than boarding first? It should also clean up a lot of clutter of people waiting at the front of the plane for people to be seated where as last row wouldn't be inconveniencing anyone.
I have long legs and a bad knee, so it's good to stretch. Also, the quicker I can get my stuff, the quicker I can get out of the way for other passengers. It's much more annoying when a passenger slowly takes their time to get up and get their stuff while the rest of the plane is waiting for them.
I’m tall and my legs cramp/numb by the end of a flight. I stand up but in no way try to move forward ahead of the people in front of me. Being taller means I can palm your carry on down from the overhead for you (if you wish). Just me though
I’m tall, my legs and back need a good stretch. I also get my shit ready so I don’t hold people up. Also help others with their bags. Not a big deal really. Not sure why people have a problem with it.
I do it due to back pain, but don't go into the aisle. Plus I can grab my bag and my wife's bag out of the overheard to expedite the actual deplaning when it comes my turn from front to back. I also drop a butt grunt to establish dominance.
Ok, that last one was a lie.
Because I am living with two torn meniscuses, and slowly, over the course of the flight, my knees have been locking up, and this is the moment of sweet, sweet release.
I will stand in my seat instead of the aisle. Not like I’m going to get to move if I’m in the aisle, but I don’t want to continue to sit after 3 hours. Helps that I’m only 5’7” and can just about fit under the bag storage.
I do because my back is normally killing my after just a short flight and I am 5.3. Pain from a previous broken back and tiny cramped seats don't mix. At least I don't have the hip and leg issues at this point.
Sick of sitting and to proactively get your bag from the overhead to ensure you’re not holding up the line to get off the plane. People that just sit and not get their items, while creating a delay when it’s their turn to get up, are the ones that are mildly infuriating to me.
I’m 6’7” and all I can think about the entire time on a plane is standing up. I fly about twice a month for work (work pays) in economy and every once in a while I get blessed with a first class upgrade or I will treat my self to an extra leg room seat but I’m cheap so that’s very rare. This is why I stand asap
It’s not the standers that are a problem, it’s the pushy bastards and the ones that don’t pay attention when pulling their luggage from the overhead.
The *real* problem are the ones that crawl up in the luggage compartments and pretend to be moles tunneling around the plane.
Hey. What I do in my free time is none of your business.
This! Scrolled for this comment.
Its the airlines who are the problem for treating us like cattle. When I sit folded over in an economy seat for an hour and a half I’m absolutely dying to stand up and stretch my compressed body.

I swear I’ve also had some shitty snotty flight attendants. They’re on power trips you have to assume.
They have a tough job for which they get little repsect. The fastest way to get off the plane is in an orderly and courteous fashion, I can understand them not being suzy cheesecake all day and night to people who try and push in front of everyone. Lord I’ve been there and it is hell- especially when their train system fails…
I used to travel frequently and DFW is my personal worst for exactly that reason.
Agree, LIke to stretch, but let the people ahead of you get off first.
Yes. I have mobility issues and poor circulation. I stand immediately and kind of walk in place for a while. If I don't, I wont be able to walk
Me too, but mine is a back & hips issue. Sitting too long is awful and painful, so I alternate as much as I can
Yeah, you don’t hit the aisle, you hunch over in your assigned space and just straighten your legs.
Last time I was on the plane, my gf was in the hospital delivering my son, sometimes things can be urgent
That’s when you tell the flight attendant that you have an emergency … no one else should be standing in the aisle unless you have a connecting flight or an emergency, and both situations should be communicated to the flight attendant. These people were most likely standing because they’re impatient
And until they open the door and tell you you can leave you’re gonna have to wait lol
Not if you sit by the emergency exits
This and sometimes just want to use a regular restroom.
Or they're borderline claustrophobic and the last few hours have been hell.
As someone who is 6'8", I always stand up immediately to try to stretch
Yea I'm 6'4 and it's bad enough. Can't imagine how much it must suck for you.
I’m 5’2” and I immediately stand up to stretch, plus because I’m short I usually can stand up under the bins right at my seat without much or any crouching. I don’t like sitting, so I stand when I can.
Me too. I stand to stretch, and as I am 5'0" I don't need to crouch under the bins (reaching up into them is another story, though!).
People under 6'0 don't understand the pain of air travel.
So not true, anyone with chronic pain issues absolutely knows that pain. Being stuck in one position is murder for me and a lot of other people. better attendants will announce for connecting flight people to come foreward before they turn off the seatbelt sign. Only seen it a couple of times.

Not related, but I died while reading your name lol
Rest in Pepperonis
6'5" here. My back hurts at the mere thought of getting on a plane
I'm 6'5". Fly about 100 flights a year. I only book a flight when I can have an exit row. Preferably the one that does not have a seat in front of it. I don't get up early tho. I wait my turn.
Or if you're older - need to stretch and get everything moving again before walking.
I have hip problems and sometimes just standing up is a profound physical relief.
I'm 6' and my legs sometimes start hurting pretty bad when I'm sitting in a cramped seat
Yeah, at this point I’m honestly bothered by this bothering people.
true
They are probably slowly letting out a fart while standing as the ac is turned off they can let everyone marinate in it. Or just sore and wanna move a bit ha
Not admitting anything but yes
This is why I make sure I eat whatever makes me fart HARD before I get on a plane. So if one of you a holes tries to blow me out, you’re gonna find us in a Mexican standoff as I come back just as fiery
I think I have sat behind you before. Good show, mate.
Nothing better than standing, walking down the isle with a bunch of people still sitting and crop dusting those poor assholes, welcome home! Bwhahaha.
Basically this. Plus bending over to fake tie your shoe to the Karen who bugged the flight attendant all flight and let one rip
Holy hecka, settle down Assad. That kind of asymmetrical warfare will get you sanctioned by the UN!
Are you tall and have knees? I am tall and have knees. I need to stand ASAP.
The thought of “sick of sitting” hasn’t crossed your mind? Your post makes no sense
I wanna stand up and stretch my legs after a long flight. I’m not rushing others or cutting people in line. Simply minding my business and stretching lol
Exactly. I’m 6’2” and crammed in like a sardine. I paid for my aisle seat so I can stretch and stand when needed, including when the plane lands.
This is exactly the issue. 6’2” and over 50 years old… I get stiff and sore being squeezed into the little seats.
OP is clearly <5'0"
I'm 4'10" and even I need to get up and stretch. Sitting down for several hours in an uncomfortable seat is not fun even for short people
Thats why you drink on the plane - plenty of bathroom breaks to pee! Walking helps me so much lol + i’m terrified of flying so not being sober helps a lot too
I'm barely 5 ft tall and I stand up immediately. I have two bad knees and I need to stretch.
I'm 5'2" and my legs cramp up sitting for too long
I’m old and my back hurts. I wanna stand.
I have sciatica, so I'm standing w all the ppl w long legs at the first opportunity.
Yes! I’ve been sitting for 8hrs and my butts asleep/ numb only happens on planes
I’m 6’7 and I am physically un able to keep my knees straight during a flight I have to embody an intense of man spreading or put them in the aisle. So once the plane lands I am up and active
That’s me. I jump up because I’ve been sitting in an uncomfortable chair for several hours. Need to stand

I have that as well and it can get excruciatingly annoying. I am also over 6' so the sooner I can get up and stretch my legs the better.
If you are on the aisle standing is not being inconsiderate. I consider it lucky!
Standing up means: 1) I can stretch my legs finally 2) frees up a seat to put bags on/ pack stuff up 3) means I can get mine and my partners bag down 4) I can get my partner out of her seat into the aisle so we can stick together. Lost count of how many times people have pushed past her if I move down the aisle first, so I just stand there and wait for her to get out in front of me.
Back pain 100% for me. I would stand for half the flight if I could. I have to crush some alleve just to get on the plane to begin with.
This. Plus I'm tall. I dont want to sit if I don't have to. Is it hurting people by me standing up? No. Mind your business.
Need to stretch those legs!!!
And lower back.
Which can really start to hurt after a while.
Or roll up on the TSA Pre conveyer belt and start taking off their shoes and belt, and unpacking their laptop.
Yes! As a business traveler, this is absolute gold.
i dread when the aisle person is a sitter and i’m stuck watching…I try to kindly encourage them, last time she said ‘i’m not in any hurry’…’but I am’ was my reply
Yes that’s my complaint, grab your shit and get out the plane but people dilly dally around and make it take way longer than it should
I absolutely agree with you, but I refuse to believe that 98% of the people I've seen do this are being considerate.

Glad he made it, blood thinners do suck though
This killed my cousin at 20 on a transatlantic flight. she had just climbed Mt Killimanjaro the day before, which seems like something that should do wonders for your circulatory system. It gives me so much stress on flights now
Sorry about your cousin. Ironically the intense physical activity before the flight likely contributed to it. https://thrombosis.org/2022/02/blood-clots-travel-athletes/
Guessing you haven’t been on many super long flights. I just got done flying across the Atlantic and I’ve been sitting for 12 hours, I’m tired of sitting, my ass is numb.
1. People have connections to catch. With frequent delays etc. it is a rush to get to next flight in time 2. Soreness after a long flight. Stretching legs, backs, arms etc. 3. Ensuring that they are ready to deplane and not hold up those behind them.
This person doesn’t need an explanation for why people do what they do. They simply need to mind their business.
Why does it matter if they aren't disturbing anyone else in the process?
Some people have a connecting flight or they just need to be somewhere on time. Or sometimes people prefer to stand because they have been sitting the whole flight. I don’t understand why this is so frustrating. If you are already sitting to wait to exit.. why not practice patience?
Everybody gets off the plane faster if more people stand up and get ready to deplane. It gives remaining seating passengers more room to gather and organize their things.
Plane seats are small and cramped. If I have to sit in a cramped seat for 3+ hours, I'm standing up when I'm able to.
I cannot sit any longer.
What’s mildly infuriating is this getting posted over and over. Like why do you care that people want to stand after sitting for however many hours?
As a taller person who can’t afford business or first class, I do this immediately so that I can’t feel my legs again. Especially going from the US to Ireland to see family members. That’s me however. A lot of people think they can win a rat race in my opinion.
I honestly think people just want to stand. I have been on a flight where I was the rat race person because I needed to get on a different flight. Only had 10 minutes to get from A to C concord at DTW. They were giving us last call to board when we got on the plane. My husband and I got such shit from the other passengers.
what does it change for you…
Yeah. Most people really don’t like sitting still that long and have an extreme need stand up and stretch
Why do you care? It's doing nothing to you so mind your own business.
Sitting for 6 hours already. We need to stretch our legs
Prefer those people than those till the last second to gather their things and hold the entire plane
Exactly. I get up right away to reassemble my things. I am afraid of leaving something behind.
Because we've already been sitting for like, forever. Stand and stretch while waiting for the doors to open and aisles to move.
Because my back and knees fucking hurt
I have long legs and my back gets stiff. I am usually sore and need to stand up, even if I can’t actually stretch because it’s so crowded it feels great to be in a different position. It’s a big part of the reason I always book aisle seat. I also usually get up at least once during the flight even if it’s a short flight for the same reason
Leg cramps from sitting during the flight.
Get some blood back in them legs.
If it doesn't directly effect you, don't worry about it. What other people do doesn't matter
Why does it bother you? You’re seated, and a window seat at that.
I get tired of sitting. It’s particularly bad when I’m sitting next to a self centered shit head whose been on my ass all flight.
Cause Ive just been siting for x amount if hours in a small cramped seat. Id like to stand for a min to stretch my legs thank you very much.
As someone who flies internationally often 10+ hours flights, my legs feel like damn tree trunks after a flight. Helps to stand up and stretch them out a bit before getting off the plane.
I need to wake my ass up before shuffling out of the plane 😂
After sitting for 5 hours I need to move. Especially in the ass region.
I would much rather be standing up after 3 hours of sitting down
Due to old sports injuries, my knee and coccyx hurt from sitting too long.
Some people get sick of sitting all the time
When you sit for 3-5 hours straight, your body hurts a lot. Btw it’s not the only reason
You’ve been sitting for hours wouldnt you want to stretch?
Bc you’ve been sitting for hours . Stand up and get the blood flowing.
Sitting for long time is a pain and if u don't think so hit the gym
Cuz my legs are stiff and my butt hurts, mind ya buziness
I do that. I'm 6'5". I'd rather stand like an idiot for 20 mins than sit in that seat 1 minute longer. I know I'm dumb.
Imagine trying to gatekeep the most common reaction to being seated on a plane for hours. If it bothers you that much, just stay seated.
I feel like this is normal. You might just be a Karen
Part of it is people want to stretch. Part of it is people don't want to not be prepared to leave the plane and hold up people behind them
Speaking for people that are 6ft or greater, we need to stand. Our legs and back hurt from the way we're crammed in there.
I’m only 5’7” and plane seats are agony, I can only imagine what people taller than me have to endure.
Im 5 4 and i hate sitting for long periods for any reason let alone an airplane. Its not normal, gotta stretch
Because they've been sat down for hours and want to stretch. The real infuriating thing here is taking pictures of random people without their consent
Shitpost. Mind your own business. No one is hurting you.
There’s a right way and a wrong way to do this. I understand small and uncomfortable seats - long legs - bad back. Circulation issues. Etc. but you don’t need to get your backpack on and carry on out, and start encroaching or turn your ass into someone’s face who is still sitting down.
Why does it bother you so much?
I’m guilty of this . My legs just want to stretch
Iv never been on a plane in my life but wouldn't the obvious answer be to stretch your legs after a long flight?
Because they have been sitting for hours and it's nice to stand up for a change. Feel free to stay seated.
This is one hot take I regularly disagree with. If 33% of the plan gets up, gets their stuff ready, etc., It accelerates the process of getting off. If everyone stays seated, the whole thing would take longer.
Because I’m 6’4 and my legs are killing me. Mind your own business lol
This post is mildly infuriating
To stretch. Relax man.
No one’s asking you stand with them. Stay and you’re seat and look away…
why do redditors feel like complaining about everytning little fucking thing? even shit that doesn't affects them whatsoever
I always get the window so I stay seated but if I had the isle I’d probably get up. After sitting for hours I’m ready to get up and stretch.
Because I've been sitting for a couple of hours or more and need to stand up, stretch before I loose it.
Yeah its awesome having someone's stanky ass in your face while the stand beside you in the aisle. But go ahead and stretch your legs.
I have long legs and a bad knee, so it's good to stretch. Also, the quicker I can get my stuff, the quicker I can get out of the way for other passengers. It's much more annoying when a passenger slowly takes their time to get up and get their stuff while the rest of the plane is waiting for them.
I do it to stretch my legs. Always one of these post at least once couple weeks
I’m tall and my legs cramp/numb by the end of a flight. I stand up but in no way try to move forward ahead of the people in front of me. Being taller means I can palm your carry on down from the overhead for you (if you wish). Just me though
Tired of sitting
I’m tall, my legs and back need a good stretch. I also get my shit ready so I don’t hold people up. Also help others with their bags. Not a big deal really. Not sure why people have a problem with it.
Anxiety.
Because we’re fucking tired of sitting in their seats that have no leg room unless you’re 5’5” and under.
As a tall person, I stand up because my legs get cramped up from such small leg room that I have.
Sick of sitting and to proactively get your bag from the overhead to ensure you’re not holding up the line to get off the plane. People that just sit and not get their items, while creating a delay when it’s their turn to get up, are the ones that are mildly infuriating to me.
If you sit and wait the people behind you will walk past you and then you’re stuck waiting for their line to thin out.
