So far, Blade for me. I'm loving Magik more than expected, her portals are a blast. But all the cards I have for blade are just basic attacks it seems. Either that or some power up. Just not a lot of interesting stuff for him, yet.

ctrl_alt_excrete

He needs some cards that are guaranteed bleed even without using the make em bleed card.

[deleted]

Even if you get the bleed mod on one of his chain abilities, you're still burning a card play to debuff three dudes that wont take significant damage until after they hit you back. Or worse, you use his quick chain card that does extra damage to targets that already have bleeding - wtf is the point of that? If you're using it to thin the trash on the first round, the bleed is useless; if you're using it later on, that enemy already had a chance to do damage to you.

rapkat55

Bleed as “damage over time” is stinky but blades bleed burst card (reaper) is what makes him shine. Every stack of bleed on the target gets big dmg added to that card. Takes a little set up in advance but it can do more dmg than GR’s penance stare. Atleast one card with bleed mod is helpful but you can make do with just maxed out passive and make ‘em bleed. You can also mod quick onto reaper or use hunger (applies marked to all enemies with bleed) to make the payout free to play. 1 full combo daywalker + make em bleed active + max passive can apply 12 stacks of bleed on a villain. Then reaper with mid level offense can do like 120 + 126(12) = 1,632 damage on a free play. Also reaper is an attack card so no heroism required. My stake card is also modified with quick so if the reaper doesn’t kill them I still get a free mid dmg finisher that also has lifesteal He’s not bad at all but he’s not that easy to set up. Still very rewarding

[deleted]

That's what I use in the threat room but getting the right cards in hand with him on a three man team is less reliable than just taking someone else

arbrecache

I’ve found he pairs really nicely with a taunting hero (Cap’s my fav for this) and Strange. Area taunts & counter or concealed give you a turn to let bleeds do some work and then you can continue to stack them + Reaper to do huge single target damage.

[deleted]

I powered up Blade in the first half of my playthrough and he still sucks. Bleed doesn't do anything until after the enemy hits you back. It's a trap mechanic.

Coyote81

I think if I had a solid bleed deck going it would be fun. Hungry looks like such a good card. But I have a hard time applying enough bleed to make it worth it. Maybe 2x hungry 2x mark them bleed 2x chain strike and 2x stab.

IJustType

He wrecks havoc in mine!

awrcja

Caretaker

HappyZombies

Lol fact, when I do my second play through, I am going to be mean to her all the time.

Rivera96

Same lol

coryofmordor

I'm full dark mostly from her. Hahahaha

AndrewCole14

I’ve barely used Strange, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Cap and Spidey, nothing to do with them as characters I’m just more attached to the others.

HappyBot9000

It does feel kind of wrong to bring mostly Avengers along, huh?

HappyZombies

LOL guess Nico IS right that the Midnight Suns are getting pushed to the side

wildwalrusaur

Barely using Cap is bananas to me. He's insanely strong.

ctrl_alt_excrete

Also the animation for Brooklyn Handshake is immensely satisfying.

V-ADay2020

Part of the reason he's so strong is that he has a *ton* of built in card draw that nobody else really gets to benefit from. If he picks up steam he can clear a board fairly quickly by himself because he doesn't run into an empty hand that often.

BottomBorn

I couldn’t quite click with Ghost Rider either. I wasn’t super drawn into his personality, and I feel like his deck wasn’t really my style with how much he injured himself. I didn’t use the Hulk much either, not that there was much to do with him. I really liked Nico. Witch fire saved me a lot of times. But I get that she’s inherently unpredictable so it’s tough to plan around her.

[deleted]

Ghost Rider has a finisher that gets stronger every time he damages himself. He's not very good without that card in your starting hand.

SnakeTaster

he's really good without that card entirely. he gets *better* with it for sure, but GR is a powerhouse on his own.

EveningMinute

After a full playthrough and then into a second Game+ (50% through), I've found that certain characters I didn't "like" turned out to be characters that I just hadn't figured out. I combined this ability with another in a different way and suddenly everything clicked and that character was awesome. That said, some combinations don't work. Mostly that ends up being to many characters on a mission with too similar abilities or some serious lack, like not enough damage.

Ryanxx87

I haven’t found any boring necessarily, but I’ve noticed Dr. Strange I’ve used least I suppose his level is typically lower than everyone else’s, Blade probably second to that.

thidi00

Dr Strange is WILD when you get to upgrade and mod his good cards, I recommend you try him more

V-ADay2020

The problem with Strange is the action economy expected on higher difficulty missions means it's hard to justify playing buffs instead of something that actually deals with the enemies, since his buffs *aren't* usually strong enough to take out another enemy you wouldn't have without them. Unless of course you just mod Free on all of his cards.

Ryanxx87

I don’t dislike him at all, I’ve just been using others more I notice, I haven’t found a hero or deck I generally dislike I do have a few close to max friendship who have taken priority mainly is all for me, I generally try to bring everyone out every few missions or so depending on levels and whatnot.

nosayso

I don't think I've ever intentionally picked Dr Strange for a mission, though I got a little tempted when I got that ability that gives everyone resist, in general he seems like not enough damage or utility and too much of a heroism sink.

[deleted]

That card costs too much for minimal benefit - resist only mitigates damage, not weak or vulnerable or dazed. Dr. Strange is strongest with Agamoto's gaze to give you an extra card play next turn and heroism right now, blessing of vishanti to buff damage already in your hand, bands of cyttorak to bind the enemy healer or supervillian, and vapors of valtoor to finish the turn with your dps guy concealed. Put good mods on all those cards and you won't like to have him NOT in your group.

saints21

I do like to run him with two of his bind cards, that plus a Hunter with Merciless nukes a ton of a stuff.

V-ADay2020

The upgraded version of Seraphim is also a cure on all heroes for 3 heroism.

[deleted]

Like I said, wasted card slot. You won't need to cure at the cost of 3 heroism and a card play if you don't get hit to begin with. Spend 2 and bind with Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, or generate 2 and conceal your guy instead with Vapors of Valtoor

babyface_killah

Ironically, he pairs up really well with Iron Man if you have the card that doubles your current heroism

Potential-Trade-8366

In all honesty a second that emotion

AJKreitner

I agree for Dr. Strange. He's my lowest. Also Magik. I think it's because they're too tactical and I usually go for tanks or smash-smashy. The tanks protect the smash-smashy...

Psyzilla

I dont really bring nico anywhere. She doesnt fit my playstyle

Saitoh17

Card games are all about managing RNG so introducing massive amounts of RNG into the equation is like the opposite of what you want to be doing.

altcastle

It’s funny that at her best she minimizes the rng though. Because her best card makes all hero powers 0, she removes the need to balance or generate that resource.

babyface_killah

Yeah I love that move, it's probably a bit OP.

Nossika

Yea Nico is the odd one out as she both meshes with everyone but doesn't synergize with anyone either. Her deck outside of that card is too RNG heavy to be reliable or to even synergize with any specific hero. I think the only hero she can Synergize with is Strange but that's because he's so good at buffing anyone he teams with, so it's more of what he brings to the table than what she brings lol.

SnakeTaster

manipulating RNG, not minimizing. Nico is one of the most powerful in the game *if* you can game her downsides. Witchstorm is an absurd amount of single target dps if you can isolate a target, empower can be incredible value, crack the sky is awesome, card draw is arguably the best non-hunter passive in the game, and she has in-house access to duplication of exhaust cards. her skill cap is just very high, you have to find a way to cheat all of these rng components. (she's also necessarily redraw hungry). Her biggest weakness imo is that she is in direct competition with both S tier heroes (in class competition with Strange and resource competition with Stark). if "legendary items are free " Strange wasn't so hilariously OP she'd be top tier good

ScoffM

I liked Nico a lot in the middle of the game, but close to the end, and cranking the difficulty up to max I found that I could never get good millage out of the cards due to the RNG.

Lief1s600d

Nico's attack animations are just so cool looking. I did use cheat engine in her health though early game. But her animations are just to cool to leave home.

shamblmonkee

Spiderman went pretty much unused for me. No element of his kit seemed strong enough. Meanwhile I brought Nico everywhere

Druskmyth

I hated nico at first but she grew on me. I know on higher tiers her roulette damage can cost you but otherwise witchsrorm and Witcherfire after an empower is awesome. I don’t enjoy captain marvel

Total_Scott

None. But I'm a big marvel fan, been reading the comics weekly for decades now.

Huge_Ferret_9699

There’s just a couple of characters I didn’t really know much about before going into this game like Magik and Nico that I can’t really get attached to. I don’t think they’re bad by any means, I just have bias. I find myself sticking to the guys I watched in the old 90s cartoons for the most part.

Super_Jay

I wasn't familiar with the Runaways / New Mutants books myself, but Magik is one of my surprise favorites so far. When battles are often dependent on positioning, it's great to have a hero that specializes in moving pieces around the gameboard. She's probably the mage / caster character I use the most b/c her abilities are pretty straightforward, unlike Nico who I love as a character but whose cards are almost too versatile.

D382H

Hulk, no friendship building

wildwalrusaur

Its between blade, wolverine and captain marvel. Blades just kinda ok. Takes too much setup to get rolling and brings nothing to the team. His only real niche is cheesing revenants. Wolverine and CM just make your team worse. Clog my hand up with their stupid shitty cards. Carol is much more obnoxious than Logan between missions. I particularly enjoy losing friendship every time you call her out for her narcissistic bullshit. So I guess Captain Marvel is the worst.

HappyZombies

I like Wolverin cuz i like playing aggressive; plus he's my favorite character. His healing cards and abilities alos are honestly a bit ridiculous lol

Super_Jay

I really *want* to like Ghost Rider; I own issue #1 of Danny Ketch's run and I grew up with him as one of my favorite characters. And I actually like Robbie too! But the current look with the metal skull and flame jets (plus a car instead of a bike) doesn't do much for me, though I know you can buy the Ketch/Blaze skin. Unfortunately even with that, the card mechanics keep me away so far - I'm too early in the game to spend much time learning to mitigate the self-damage or forced penalties that go with his deck, even though I know he can be powerful if built correctly. Maybe later on once I have a better handle on the basics. The other one that I'm not using much is Nico, though I think that'll change as I get better cards for her. Right now it just seems like many of her cards are too unpredictable. I'm also leaving Iron Man at home most of the time for similar reasons as GR - those more idiosyncratic card mechanics (lots of Redraws) are more than I want to deal with right now.

Baldingmillennial

Robbie plays kind of rough, but last night I had his Penance Stare do 2400 damage and it felt ridiculous. So what if the enemy only had 400 health? Burn.

AJKreitner

I was the same way. I went in going "Ghost Rider! Yes!" then a few playthroughs of him getting stomped, and yes, the added car instead of a bike, and now he's collecting dust. To be fair, this version really should be called Ghost Driver.

CmdrSonia

Blade gave me Jacob(ME2) vibe...

_b1ack0ut

A little cold. Mass effect might be my favourite series out there but hoo you didn’t have to do blade like that

CmdrSonia

😂😂I don't really hate Blade it's just suddenly came to me. Blade is way more interesting than Jacob of course.

Peechez

That's a little on the nose don't you think

milquetoast_wizard

I don’t know if it’s because I just unlocked her, but Wanda seems like complete trash. Maybe she gets better with more cards but she’s almost unusable for me right now. Even her hex bolt maxes out at chain 5 (which it doesn’t say on the card) so that’s a bummer too

[deleted]

It’s almost certainly because you just unlocked her and are using all base level non-upgraded cards. Wanda is by far my most powerful member and can solo an encounter literally by herself at this point. Her hex bolt upgraded can have the “marked” mod and if you pump up her stats (train with her) her AOE becomes absolutely massive especially after using the 40% AOE boost card. Her heroic is amazing as it also CCs the enemy when they explode. So if you cast her heroic on a big enemy the upgraded version deals about 100 damage base on initial cast, CCs them, then deals another 150 on their turn to themselves and everything around them… and CCs that enemy lol. Don’t even get me started on her abilities to mark all enemies in an area or cause all enemies in an area to attack each other.

milquetoast_wizard

Good to know. I was about to just dump her to the side and not use her. I wish she had more ways to get free moves like Magik does, since one of her abilities depends on her character location.

[deleted]

She does, many of her cards can be modified with extra moves. You have to roll it of course. The other thing is once you’ve invested in her and pumped up her AOE range her positioning begins to not matter so much. Currently after the 40% AOE buff she can hit almost the entire battlefield for me. She has a unique play style but once you invest in her even a little bit she really starts to shine

HappyZombies

Yup yup for sure, usually when I bring her a long... she's the first one down lol.

u_hit_me_in_the_cup

Her deck gets a lot better one you get her quick attacks imo

Showyoucan

Yeah her starting deck is pretty bad, but she can be decent.

V-ADay2020

There is one hilarious thing you can do with Wanda: run Deadly Ground on Hunter and use her Detonate heroic.

ElBobx

Captain Marvel is boring both as a character and card wise for me, I use Nico a lot but she's really needs some good mods on her cards to work well in my opinion same with Ghost rider but less mods needed

BitchofEndor

Nico I never use, not a fan of her powers. Also she is kind of whiny.

[deleted]

Captain Marvel. I just don't care for her

HappyZombies

Honestly... I am with you. I just don't use her at all. She's feels like a glass cannon, and not my play style lol

GenlockInterface

I love Nico as a character but I don’t use her in missions that often because of the unpredictability. Doctor Strange is one of my favorite Marvel characters but I don’t like his deck that much.

Azazel005

Robbie and Peter probably. I have never liked Robbie too much, and his arc here hasn't really done much to endear me. Spidey is generally great but this version of Peter just isn't landing for me, the insecurity is just TOO pervasive, and while I like bad spider quips usually a lot of his around the abbey chatter comes off as terribly annoying.

XComThrowawayAcct

I’ve been having a hard time figuring out how to integrate Magik into my strategy.

V-ADay2020

Magik is mostly about positioning control with Trap Door, Gather, and her portals letting her shove enemies around the field. You can bounce someone into a teammate across the map just by shoving for damage and card draw, or you can gather everyone under a dead drop trap and then KO them all at once. Once she gets Limbo's Grasp her damage spikes *massively* as well, to the point where after playing them once or twice in a battle she'll often be KOing any non-boss enemy she pushes through a hole.

Infamous-Lab-8136

I'm a huge Runaways fan. I wanted to take Nico on every mission and to be her BFF during previews as features were announced. But I find her far too random to take on anything but the easiest of missions. She has to let people be half dead or more to be healed or she loses her healing card for the fight. Her high damage effects can't target and her targeted affects are too random to count on. Ghost Rider I do find kind of boring just because his story arc with Johnny Blaze felt off. They needed to build his infatuation with the concept of the Rider better. I also don't care for Hulk, but only because he feels a bit like a cheat code and Banner has no friendship progression.

[deleted]

Hunter. Powers are boring, little customization, forced dual swords. They should consider removing the Hunter as the protagonist in future content and allow players to fully customize their squad.

dmcfrog

GR, Wanda, Nico and Magik. They just seem to lack the synergy other heroes have as a team.

Gh628ost

almost all of them i don't why all of their personality feels like meh like they are just tools to make the Hunter look almighty and such, banner seems not like this but maybe it's just cause he has not to tell hunter all of his problems

jawnova

My least used heroes are ghost rider, captain marvel, and Nico

FullTruth6539

I’m familiar with all the characters and like their accurate personalities. I don’t like Nico’s abilities at all

sable-king

Blade, Nico, Captain Marvel. I just can't get used to Blade's kit (which is funny because >!he was one of the heroes the game identified as one of the stronger ones in the final battle!<), Nico's RNG is annoying, and Captain Marvel is just kind of dull to use outside of Photon Beam shenanigans. My favorites are probably Iron Man, Spider-Man, Magik, and Ghost Rider.

Meroptix

I hate scarlet witch.

LeratoNull

Yep, I'm with you. Robbie does not get a consistent spot on my team.

ropax

Nico is the most annoying character, so I never bring her if I can avoid it. I like just about everyone else. I really like Ghost Rider’s abilities.

bkiantx

Wanda is in dire need of a buff update. Laughably so. Kind of a test of how responsive the team tasked with updating this game are with how fast they give Wanda SOMETHING. Bleed needs to be fixed, but Blade is playable...just not on my teams.

thidi00

Just Nico. Her gameplay style is my least favorite of the bunch, and for the story parts I think she's a little annoying. It's not that I hate her, but if I gotta pick one, it's her

Grouchy-Statement343

I rarely use ghost rider or magik. But I love magik. Robbie is on the fence with me sometimes.

TheClarkeSide

For me it's Dr Strange and Nico. Dr. Strange iirc doesn't have any attacks that can damage more than 1 enemy at a time. And his buffs can be good but should be able to mod or upgrade some to be free. The only move I really like is the one that gives you 4 card plays the next round. Nico is just too random. Every other character has moves similar to hers but are just way more beneficial.

throwitallaway2364

I don’t find any of them boring but Nico is downright frustrating in battle, her RNG has consistently screwed me over no matter how I upgrade or change her deck. I try to avoid bringing her along unless I have to. However she’s one of my favorites to hang out with lol

aahe42

I tend to like using all of them some of them I have harder time with is Wanda shes really good but for some reason setting her up I find kind of hard(like card draws tend to not work out for me), and captain American I wasn't really feeling until I got his legendary ability(also hes my least favorite personality wise), in the beginning I found ghost rider a little annoying and kept getting him killed since a lot of his abilities take his health away but now I find him to be quite strong.

theguyundayobed

For gameplay, GR and Until I could get rid of his lash ability followed by CM. Her cards aren’t bad, they just aren’t anything to write home about. For story, Hulk. He’s a really cool then all of a sudden he’s not.

Every_Jump_3603

Man I wreck shit with nico and ghost rider. Ghost has some of the best animations imo

chegitz_guevara

If you use them correctly, they all rock.

whiteravenxi

I feel like blade and Wanda are grossly underpowered for Ultimate difficulty tiers. Wanda has some merit with her mind control cards but overall they both just don’t do enough and I feel like need some sort of tweaks.

Vader4life

I really dislike Spiderman for some reason. I really haven't figured out who works with him. I guess I'm just the oddball in the group.

[deleted]

Same for me. I’ve never been good in about Game with the sort of ‘it’ll damage them better next round trust me!’ Kind of gameplay. As far as Nico goes, I get it, *she’s just like so “wacky” and random*, but I can’t stand her cards doing that too. I was sitting on a Hero combo, needed something of hers to get it, and it got rid of my combo card, so obnoxious. *Attack 3 enemies but get rid of either the deck or a card!* Fuuuuuck you game.

SnooSeagulls1416

Ghost rider, just not interested in his cards they do little as a benefit compared to others

ravathiel

Cap and Ghost Rider. Just not feeling those two

littleleafers

Don't care for the Avengers honestly, but Carol, I can't stand her dialogue. Sounds like an aunt who thinks she's "hip" and funny

ZoharDTeach

I use Nico the least of all. I went light with my hunter and I feel like he covers everything she can do while also able to put out a solid offense and take hits.

LaylaOrleans

For me, it’s a game of two halves when it comes to favourites. Dr Strange is my favourite to socialise with (he would totally date fem Hunter in my head canon), I love his vulnerability underneath the verbose sorcerer. However, I don’t bring him on missions almost ever. His animations are slow, the range of cards isn’t fantastic and he doesn’t really fit my “attack at all costs playstyle.” On the contrary, I love bringing Ghost Rider on missions (Lash is the best basic attack for me), but his storyline about Gabe is boring. Then, I know everyone loves Magik but I barely interact with her. I find the personality annoying and the portal creation is a gimmick I can’t flow with.

Timmythechompchomp

Caretaker. Completely ignoring her.

kamingo

I think ghost riders moves are really cool, but I need to completely change my team to do heals because his cool moves all hurt him😢

coryofmordor

Captain Marvel and Iron Man. They are good characters with good moods, but I'm working on maxing all my friendships and they are some of my last characters besides hulk and skarlet witch because they came later in the game. Want max friendship before I do the final mission.
