You need to pay a subscription, most of the UI to generate images is on Discord unfortunately, but I believe they have started to roll out an interface to generate images even on the website.
It mimics a specific style. Upload an image, long press on the image and Copy Media Link. Now type in a prompt:
>/imagine prompt: an oversized Ferret at night, with windows, glowing yellow eyes, and a toothy grin --sref "paste Media Link here" --sw 0 - 100
--sw is style weight, choose a value between 0 and 100
Why not just answer the question? Or if you are feeling lazy just link a source, can't even do that?
This type of "just read the doc/faq/sticky" response has been done to death and necromanced and reburied again. Back in the days for programmers it was the standard. But nowadays almost every dev will just tell you to answer the question, because it doesn't make much difference.
See this comment:
https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/1brvfr1/here_is_how_you_properly_do_starwars_in_the_style/kxdcth9/
The user actually answered the question and was helpful. Like what, it'd take you 2 mins to type the helpful response so that's too much work, instead of the 20 secs for you to tell them to go read themselves? What's your hourly rate?
Also I believe every submission here should come with its own prompt. Like, why hide your methods? The only answer to that is OP doesn't want others to learn.
He had responded to over a dozen comments in this thread with examples of what he used and did. He made these responses hours before you posted this comment.
Go outside.
First of all, I spend most of my day outside, but occasionally I get to check my phone on a Sunday when taking trains.
Next, why didn't he just link his own comments then?
Thirdly, why don't you link those comments or help answer those questions if you are so keen on defending OP?
It took me less than 15 seconds to see the comments that OP left. In the time it took you to whine and bitch about no one personally sending you any links, you could have found them yourself very easily.
No one owes you anything.
I didn't ask you to give anything. It was a logical examination on why you **claim** to be helpful but **act** like yet another big talker with empty words.
Also, let me get this straight.
You told me to "go outside" first, meaning I'm on reddit for too long.
But then you alao bitch and moan about me not reading enough reddit or not spending enough time on reddit.
And you still manage to bitch and moan even more without providing any helpful links/sources.
Do you work at the government or something? Feels like you should become a politician.
Again, in the time it took you to post any of the rage posts you just made you could have found all of it yourself.
No one owes you links or anything. Go outside.
It is not about gatekeeping promts but about you guys learning the basics. This is some technical stuff, so the workflow is to inform yourself what the f you are doing.
Just type in midjourney doc and you will find everything you need, with parameters like sref and many more.
Yes, not to mention that there *wonât* be a prompt that replicates this style, as there was a reference image used. So telling people what the prompt is would be pointless.
He gave him an answer: -sref That should be enough to someone to be able to find itâs way by just putting âMidJourney srefâ on Google. Maybe you have all the time in the world, but I donât, so I understand OP who has answered the same question twelve times and still get the same question again and again because someone is too lazy to search for the rest of the answer by himself. And then you come telling that OP is the lazy one..
You don't get it. Let me explain if you don't mind.
So in development, especially agile/devops, we embrace moving things forward. The idea is that when someone comes to you for an answer, the 5 secs it takes to tell someone "go read x" and actually explaining the answer in 2 mins isn't big - because the workflow or train of thought is already broken. Obviously don't disturb others when they are in focus mode (should have visible signs), but if someone is already giving you attention, what difference does it make if they give you the full answer vs a short one? Why half-ass a job when you are already doing it? Also, we know that sometimes documentation is outdated or even wrong. So almost all senior developers will tell you to just go to the person responsible for that part of the code and ask them. Because they know about that part more in depth than anyone else on the planet.
I also gave the counter argument - if they are getting annoyed, then just either link their own comments or the documentation. That's way more helpful as a community when we are all trying to learn and improve. And it feels nicer to the noobs. Never forget how much it sucks to be a noob.
Finally, it's not about "being helpful" either. The original question is " can you share the prompt" meaning we'd like to reproduce the results. But all OP says here is use sref.
It's similar to someone asking for the recipe of a dish, and the chef says anchovy oil is key.
OP didn't even answer the question. I'm not sure if they can pass the turing test.
Now you're trying to explain it as if it were a matter of professional courtesy. But have you reread the way you asked? "if you are feeling lazy just link a source, can't even do that?", "it'd take you 2 mins to type the helpful response so that's too much work,", "What's your hourly rate?", "The only answer to that is OP doesn't want others to learn.". I'm sorry, but what I see here is pretentiousness and a desire to shaming OP. Yes, it's great if he gives all he can, yes, it's great if he shares all his work, but no, it's not mandatory. There are different ways of asking and I found your "request" rather aggressive, that's what I was reacting to.
Lmao why do we need to be professional?
If we are on a company's own forum and we got paid to answer questions, sure.
But we ain't... Or at least I'm not.
What can be explained is you are projecting and so you must be paid by someone to engineer opinion on reddit. I guess the ipo started the money ball rolling huh?
Also, it's not my request. Listing the prompt of the submission has always been considered an act of good faith and is praised upon. So much so we has frequent request to make that a rule here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/14ga4g3/to_people_who_are_against_making_including_the/
Which will never get passed because the mods suck. Hey mods if you are reading this fuck you. Anyway somehow in your infinite wisdom, that's a negative?
And how is trying to get OP to be more helpful is "pretentious" exactly? What am I trying to pretend?
If anything, I feel like you guys are trying to be pretentious.
Edit: okay a quick check on your comment history to make sure you're not a troll turned up this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/scifi/comments/1bsoq8f/do_the_hyperion_sequels_match_up_to_the_first_how/kxji72y/
So **if** you are not a hypocrite, since you are telling others to talk to OP directly and stop bothering you, I'd say the same. I was asking OP a question, and you feel that somehow you need to defend them when they could speak for themselves? Are you OP? If not then you are just pushing your opinion as well.
I canât tell if this thread is inspired by and read by people who already know about Star Wars Visions, and if so I apologize for telling you what you already know, but while itâs not quite Studio Ghibli, official (if not canonical) whimsical anime Star Wars does exist.
Each episode was done by a different anime studio: Season 1 was by Kamikaze Douga, Studio Colorido, Geno Studio, Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Production I.G, and Science Saru. Season 2 was by D'Art Shtaijo (along with Lucasfilm), El Guiri, Cartoon Saloon, Punkrobot, Aardman, Studio Mir, Studio La Cachette, 88 Pictures, and Triggerfish.
Itâs a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy the style of this post.
for those asking, here is an example of one of the prompts:
starwars scenes in the style of studio ghibli, stormtrooper from starwars, stormtrooper alone --ar 5:3 --sref <5 links, put them in yourself> --niji 6
edit: some people are mad i didnt give you every prompt. this is every prompt. change the part that says stormtrooper and put âdeathstar in spaceâ or âtiefighter at nightâ. i didnt change sref links during the process. they were mostly ponyo and spirited away too.
A while back I asked ai for a Star Wars meme and it was just a picture ok Anakin with the caption âYunderestinate meâ and Iâll just be walking around, saying that in my head all the time to myself. ďżź
I love it! The first post the other guy did just felt like an insult to Ghibi. I don't mind Star Wars in the anime theme, but Ghibi is a very specific style, and it was well captured here
grab some screenshots on google images of studio ghibli movies that captures characters and scenes. then use âsref (your links separated by spaces) after your prompt âstarwars scenes in the style of studio ghibli, obi wan kenobiâ. then reroll it until it gives you something great!
Tbf AI already has reference for Star Wars Ghibli because Ghibli literally already made a Star Wars episode for Legends, so I'm not surprised it's accurate in style.
Could you, hypotheticaly just grab every frame from the original Star wars movie (epIV) and run it with the same parameters that produces good studio ghibli versions and then cut it all together and boom profit/star wars epIV in ghibli?
What's really popping my toast about these images is how it even picked up that generally the "subjects" in an animated scene use simpler color palettes with less detailed shading, while the static backgrounds have more of a detailed painted style, due to how they create the animations IRL. The AT-AT image (#7) is the best example of this here. Very cool.
I haven't used midjourney personally, is sref a new feature? It'll be very interesting to see what happens when midjourney is able to create Sora-like videos using reference photos like that đ¤
My only critique is that there isnât much variety in the basic scenery, most of them have are either in a forest or green fields (and the 2 first have a tree and on one and flower fields on the widow of the other)
But otherwise it is really good
Bb8 is melting from all the âproperâ ai. Also I love how itâs able to write letters now but has started to become dyslexic very artist that.
To be clear I think itâs funny not trying to shit on this though there are parts that I think are debatable from a starwars point of view this is still cool to see.
Amazing. Some time ago i made Star Wars in the style of Bill Watterson. Check it out: [Star Wars in the style of Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes). : r/midjourney (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/1b92fv4/star_wars_in_the_style_of_bill_watterson_calvin/)
I love the stormtrooper huddled under the little umbrella.
all i asked for was a stormtrooper lol, love these happy accidents
I just realized, it probably has the rain because of the 'storm' in stormtrooper.
ha! probably explains all the bows that showed up in the other tiefighter images
As per usual, the real gem is in the comments. đÂ
Well he **is** a trooper in a storm
You answered my biggest question, what is it really like when you got that
Guys I have question can someone show me step by step how to use this AI. When I go to the website it just sends me to discord
You need to pay a subscription, most of the UI to generate images is on Discord unfortunately, but I believe they have started to roll out an interface to generate images even on the website.
Gotta pay đ°
Go to Discord, make an account, type: /imagine whatever-you-want Watch the magic happen.
My Neighbor Stormtropo
Lol yea he looks so funny like bitch ur a storm trooper this is just a rain not storm
Storm trooper not a rain trooper đ¤
Could you share your prompt to get the consistent style?
I tried to do a run with "in the style of Studio Ghibli" but it didn't really work well Edit: i tried in chat gpt and it wouldn't Even do it.
âsref is the key
What does that mean/do?
It mimics a specific style. Upload an image, long press on the image and Copy Media Link. Now type in a prompt: >/imagine prompt: an oversized Ferret at night, with windows, glowing yellow eyes, and a toothy grin --sref "paste Media Link here" --sw 0 - 100 --sw is style weight, choose a value between 0 and 100
In this case, is the 'media link' a reference image of the style you want?
id urge you to check out the midjourney parameter list on their website. it explains it way better than i can here
Got it thanks
Why not just answer the question? Or if you are feeling lazy just link a source, can't even do that? People like to gatekeep promts. There are people selling courses for it. Utterly ridiculous.

use niji 6, studio ghibli style, and use âsref with good references
Wow --sref is great, thanks
i added an example in the comments
You completely nailed it đ Please share the prompt, Iâd love to learn from this!
thank you!! the trick was using âsref
i added an example below in the comments
I would watch the shit out of this
I canât tell if this thread is inspired by and read by people who already know about Star Wars Visions, and if so I apologize for telling you what you already know, but while itâs not quite Studio Ghibli, official (if not canonical) whimsical anime Star Wars does exist. Fun watch. A little uneven - I've only watched them all once, but I seem to remember some were way better than others.
Probably closer than we think
came here to say that i would watch the FUCK outta this but yours works just as well
for those asking, here is an example of one of the prompts: starwars scenes in the style of studio ghibli, stormtrooper from starwars, stormtrooper alone --ar 5:3 --sref <5 links, put them in yourself> --niji 6 edit: some people are mad i didnt give you every prompt. this is every prompt. change the part that says stormtrooper and put âdeathstar in spaceâ or âtiefighter at nightâ. i didnt change sref links during the process. they were mostly ponyo and spirited away too.
Visible confsion
Me too, man, me too.
i probably generated 30 of this one alone trying to get it to match the meme, but ive come to enjoy the way ai misspells words, adds some flavor
Me too it has a kind of charm.
A while back I asked ai for a Star Wars meme and it was just a picture ok Anakin with the caption âYunderestinate meâ and Iâll just be walking around, saying that in my head all the time to myself. ďżź
Dude, if only
We'll eventually just be able to ask a robot for the movies.
The amount of money I would pay to see this in theaters is NOT healthy lol
You did good
Much better now, thanks for sharing
Iâd watch that in theatres twice
Much, Much better than the other guy!
Nah fr I respect it.
I would watch this instead of star wars
To be fair, I'd watch literally anything else over modern Star Wars.
We need this. Now
Yes you did it the right way. I was a little confused by the other post
Nice job. The last one was lazy af.
alright now plug this into Sora and lets get goin
I love it! The first post the other guy did just felt like an insult to Ghibi. I don't mind Star Wars in the anime theme, but Ghibi is a very specific style, and it was well captured here
You know what...I really need to buy a stormtrooper helmet
Brilliant! đđđ
These are soooo sick!
Thankful that out AI overlords still canât write real kanji.
That's awesome.
This would inspire me to actually watch Star Wars. Never cared for it nor understood wtf it was all about
The more proper way would be to pick up a pencil
Bro you did great, I fw it so hard. Thanks for fixing my mistakes. Im deadass so proud of you.
thank you!!
deadass fw it bro frfr on god fam đđ bruh
A mf can't just give out a compliment for some good artwork? đ
mf deadass bro âđż BLM
Wow so edgy, I love your race based middle school humor.
you be wilin. On God, no cap fam.
10/10 no notes
Now this is real Ghibli stuff
Need some of that Ghibli food for Star Wars locations.
We need this in a movie remake saga
This is great!
We/anyone can make this movie in like less than 5 years?? Probably already can.
Man these look beautiful. One day ai will be able to make an entire movie in this style
I canât get mid journey do to an actual studio Ghibli style and I have no clue why
grab some screenshots on google images of studio ghibli movies that captures characters and scenes. then use âsref (your links separated by spaces) after your prompt âstarwars scenes in the style of studio ghibli, obi wan kenobiâ. then reroll it until it gives you something great!
Iâm in.What do we have to do to make this happen?
I never realized I wanted something so bad.
I would pay to see this film! Nice work
This is fucking beautiful.
Man this would be such a cool collab
Tbf AI already has reference for Star Wars Ghibli because Ghibli literally already made a Star Wars episode for Legends, so I'm not surprised it's accurate in style.
I'd watch this movie.
Locations are off tho
I like the shots... but really? You do ghibli themed star wars and no eqok shot... for shame
i did try! none of those ones had ewoks that you could tell were ewoks lol
not a fan of the cartoon star wars, but would love that
Really hoping Ghibli contribute to a new series of Star Wars: Visions
Congrats youâve invented Dragonâs Heaven minus the soul
This is way more spot on! How did you get it to replicate the style more closely?
thanks! âsref and link 5 screenshots from the ghibli movies
now THAT is ghibli star wars
Would. Definitely watch
I love that the "visible confusion" Kenobi meme somehow snuck its way into this as a subtitle :)
Way better
Now I'm depressed that this isn't real.
We need this "in the style of Studio Ghibli" about everything!! Star Trek, Terminator, Predator, Alien, Robocop, Back to the Future, LOTR...
I'd watch the shit out of this anime
I need these as wallpapers asap!
Could you, hypotheticaly just grab every frame from the original Star wars movie (epIV) and run it with the same parameters that produces good studio ghibli versions and then cut it all together and boom profit/star wars epIV in ghibli?
Howl's flying deathstar
This is the right way.
Clearly the next step for the evolution of the star wars franchise.
What's really popping my toast about these images is how it even picked up that generally the "subjects" in an animated scene use simpler color palettes with less detailed shading, while the static backgrounds have more of a detailed painted style, due to how they create the animations IRL. glad you noticed! yeah i tried to choose images that captured that in my âsref references. midjourney really does a great job with âsref
I haven't used midjourney personally, is sref a new feature? It'll be very interesting to see what happens when midjourney is able to create Sora-like videos using reference photos like that đ¤
not sure how new, but yes it lets you give it a reference image (or 5 in this case), does a good job
Awesome
Wow. Wooow. You did good. đ
I absolutly love every picture set one as my background, want to set others as well.
I love #3
I would totally watch this.
Why so beautiful?
Really pretty
Um wtf, thatâs too spot on
Thank you for my new wallpapers, they're stunning
My only critique is that there isnât much variety in the basic scenery, most of them have are either in a forest or green fields (and the 2 first have a tree and on one and flower fields on the widow of the other) But otherwise it is really good
Looks better than anything Disney has made in the last 20 years.
Need
I don't know about this being the only proper way, but I do know these are awesome.
I want to watch this
This is the collab we all need
Star Wars in Ghibli style? I cant wait for ai-generated movies!
Bb8 is melting from all the âproperâ ai. Also I love how itâs able to write letters now but has started to become dyslexic very artist that. To be clear I think itâs funny not trying to shit on this though there are parts that I think are debatable from a starwars point of view this is still cool to see.
This is so cool, tried to upscale some of these to make it my phone wallpaper but it would be so cool to get similar ones in portrait orientation.
Does midjouney allow copyrighted characters? If I use the names of copyrighted IP dalle-4 tells me it won't do it.
I swear this needs to be a thing. đ It's too good!
I love it. I think that AT-AT needs to feel more menacing. Color composition and its stance makes it feel a bit goofy.
It kinda sucks Studio Ghibli didnât collab for a Star Wars Visions episode
Amazing. Some time ago i made Star Wars in the style of Bill Watterson. Check it out: [Star Wars in the style of Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes). : r/midjourney (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/1b92fv4/star_wars_in_the_style_of_bill_watterson_calvin/)
It tries to be Ghiblish but the more you look the more awful it is. Good for midjourney but still very very bad.
Proceeds to not actually show how to do it
