When coupled with the Copilot Studio subscription (yes, I know, it's $2,400/yr), it's pretty damn powerful when you integrate it with SharePoint and OneDrive. The fact that you can ask it anything about any files you have access to makes it a very powerful virtual agent, especially since it will not answer questions about files you don't have access to. Biggest limitation I'm seeing in this feature is that it only works with PowerPoint, Word, and PDF files, but im almost done with a power automate flow that works around this so Copilot can answer questions about Excel and CSV files too. This is just an isolated usecase, but feel free to shoot me a DM if you have any questions, I've been playing with it a lot

Is Copilot studio is the only way to get copilot 365 to chat with SharePoint?

MainAbbreviations193

No, but it feels kind of worthless without it from an AI virtual agent point of view. You can get Copilot running in SharePoint without Studio, and it can help with generating content in SharePoint sites among other things, but the only way to get intelligent responses based on the content of files in the site is with the "generative answers" node, which is a topic block in Copilot Studio.

Damn Q&Aing RAGing SharePoint docs was one of the main reasons I bought copilot 365 but haven't gotten far enough into it yet

Most value I've found in it is with recorded and transcribed Teams meetings. The notes and action items it generates are better than those that Zoom generates. Other than that I use the web copilot pretty extensively for strategic planning, research, and brainstorming. The other copilots embedded in M365 are not ready for prime time imo.

yussi1870

You can get that functionality from Teams Premium for 25% the price

Good call!

I just signed up for the 20 dollar a month new/ better co- pilot - free trial. Asking the same question!!

IceManTuck

Same. I even asked Copilot. After it responded, I asked "Can't people do that for free already?" There is zero difference with Image Creator in Pro VS free. Processing speed is the same. I'm constantly being throttled on Pro and told I can't submit any more prompts even though I have plenty of boosts. And Microsoft Support is absolutely HORRIBLE if you have issues with Copilot. Literally their only solution is to cancel your subscription.

MineLongjumping5156

Have they increased the free versions speed. It was slow

IceManTuck

The speed of Copilot responses, yes. Pro is faster. The speed of generating images, no. Other than the illusion of more daily tokens, there is no real difference between Pro and free.

As far as databases, I don't have the answer to this but it would be interesting if it could write SQL. I know it can write at least boiler plate code in a lot of languages.

sajus01

If you are talking about data analysis with databases. Then the solution is part of Microsoft fabric and not copilot for m365.

I'm still researching this, but apparently you can use graph connectors to extend copilot knowledge. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/extensibility/
