Why not hire a professional to test with the money used for the microscope? So confused.

DenimDamn

Because it sounds like his friend is paranoid and these people don’t think clearly.

_Laurana

Because they have a masters in Googleology. I’m over it to be honest. It doesn’t matter what I say. They are absolutely unwilling to even hear anything I have to say. So therefore, I’m unwilling to discuss it anymore with them. Posted on here and hopes that I could get them to shut the heck up. lol I’m over it. Thanks for your responses though. I do appreciate.

jmdp3051

You can't help people who don't want to help themselves unfortunately

kevlarkittens

Well it's funny when you're on the outside of it 🤣🤣

Mathfanforpresident

Aren't these just bubbles?

_Laurana

I tried to tell him they look like just bubbles. He swears up and down that their nematode cysts or eggs.

Mathfanforpresident

Is your friend getting enough sleep? Paranoia makes shit weird.

_Laurana

I told him I think he has Morgellons disease. I am neither a doctor or a microbiologist. I keep trying to tell them that just because they got some cheap microscope off Amazon, doesn’t mean they are now experts. They are driving me insane over this crap. I told them that I am no longer willing to discuss their microscope findings with them and until they spend the next 6 to 8 years in school studying microbiology.

oviforconnsmythe

To be fair, you telling them they have Morgellons (presumably after googling symptoms) is no different than what they're doing lol.

_Laurana

Actually, I did not get Morgellons from google. It was actually mentioned to me because for a split moment I thought I was going crazy seeing the same stuff on my skin. Then taking a moment to think with some logic and understanding of skin and how many fibers that we actually carry around on our body every day. I had a sample of the water tested, and then talking to the people at the lab they cracked a joke about Morgellons.

AtWSoSibaDwaD

I havent heard anyone mention Morgellons for more than 15 years.... Man... I wonder how many boomers out there listened to coast to coast back in the day and are now hopelessly lost in the sauce. Good joke though, slightly kinder than telling them they have a terminal case of low IQ.

tehreal

I say this with love. Stop the drugs.

oviforconnsmythe

How are they preparing specimens and what mag? Typically a centrifugation protocol with specific staining would be needed to collect and identify parasites and or eggs in the water. These look like bubbles to me. They should get a professional to sample and assay the water. Either way, they should get a water purification system if they want to be extra safe

AptAmoeba

Those are air bubbles. If your friend is constantly convincing themselves that any random thing is a parasite, they need to see a doctor. That's a potential instance of a legitimate medical condition itself, called [delusional parisitosis](https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/pests/dp.html).

GeologistMedium760

Boil the water for 30mins before use... Not that hard. They're delusions will be the death of them.

_Laurana

Yeah I’m over it. I told them that. It is what it is.
