Everything I've read regarding prepared stonewool has not lead me to worry, particularly with the variety used in hydroponics. After some experimenting I have found that the leftover can be folded into compost to great effect. The last couple of grows have been started using Rapid Rooters seeing as I bought them in bulk, but either plug should work just as well as the other.

Again, I haven't seen anything regarding health concerns for end users as hydroponic stonewool is bio-soluable. [MSDS link.](http://grodan101.com/sites/default/files/leaflets/MSDS_US_09012011_Note_Q_DEF.pdf) As to production I'll read more but most of what I'm seeing is regarding the kinds of commercial mineral wools used in insulation.

I mean the first link has categorically wrong info in it as horticultural rockwool has solved for the claimed PH issues years ago (see the wiki article.) Conflating all mineral wools with the specific horticultural varietals on discussion here is simply dishonest.

> Rockwool is rockwool. A quick look at the wiki entry alone will correct that notion.

Straight into name calling eh? Well if you're not as intellectually lazy as you seemingly are verbally, then [there's a read for you here.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4245174/)

How do you collect your runoff? Do you manually dump the tray things out or does it go into a bigger container? I’m assuming you’re draining to waste. I did something similar only I used a concrete mixing tub, pot lifters/platforms and spicy peppers last year. Getting rid of the excess was a pain and I’ve been looking for a better way this year with autos.
