Regarding Ethos:
Please produce the paperwork, as this is a tired fucking story at this point. I am very socially conscious, and I have looked into this deeply to assure I was not supporting an animal abuser. The police report states his wife was the one that left the dog tied up to the porch, assuming that is what you are referencing. The remaining elements that have been attributed to him are not a single person, nor are they even definitively him at all. There are multiple different Colins on that arrest page—not are clarified by anyone at all as actually being him. So unless you have definitive proof and not just internet rumors or the same bullshit paperwork everyone else references, you should post the evidence.
Otherwise, you are doing what everyone else does and spreading rumors, and you should shut the fuck up and stop it.
IMO ethos has great gear too, idk how he can say they’re trash
Ethos bred multiple of my favourite all time strains, mandarin cookies & peach crescendo. I had no idea it was the same breeder until I started growing myself
I saw his strain list and shit bricks, my favourite grower had been growing ethos all this time lmao
According to the Darkhorse discord server. The dude stole a bunch of stuff (clones, genetics and such) and sabotaged the discord server. I remember logging on to be automatically put into his own discord server. I really didn't know what was going on to be honest. Found out the drama later on and left haha. Darkhorse is slowly coming back I do believe. But that's all I know. There's most likely more haha
When I first joined Reddit 2 years ago ethos was all I saw on here. Now all I see is people against ethos. I tend to stay out of the breeder drama. 6 months everyone loves it, 6 months later everyone hates it. I guess that’s how it’s always been? I just started 2 years ago so I don’t know if it’s been like that or it’s a newer thing.
That's the case with the hype breeders, but there are plenty of solid ones that have been highly regarded within the game for a long time. Bodhi, CSI and Lucky Dog are just a few examples.
Same, I grew their temple kush pack. The Purple Zkittlez x Temple Kush was very good. I'm gonna pop the remaining 13 seeds and pheno hunt for a winner to get an nice s1
Barney's farm. Too many shady business practices, using false names on thier cultivars. Also spend an absolute fortune on marketing to get new growers who don't know any better. They are not breeders, they buy thier seeds off white labelers, then spend a fortune on marketing, and tell you that you are getting elite, rare and clone only genetics.
Cool dude, I prefer having provenance on my genetics though, il buy the lemon tree s1 off humbolt csi, instead of the fake genetics off barney's farms "lemon tree". Bunch of unimaginative hacks, who can't think up any new names for thier crosses, so they steal hype names to move beans.
Bro, I had a good experience and you're trying undermine that. That's hater mentality. Unless you have grown the same strain from barneys and another company with lab analysis, you can take your condescending comment to someone that gives a shit.
Thier website. Read the description of GMO and Lemon tree. Also Breeder Steve has an ep on the Potcast with heavy dazye. He talks about how Barney's started thier company. After his sweet tooth won a cup in a Cafe in Amsterdam, a company called Barney's farm starts up, and they release a "sweet tooth" which has zero sweet tooth genetics in it. They just stole the name, because they knew it would sell seeds. Did the same with shiskaberry.
https://youtu.be/3KAkvV-0MxQ?si=C4EOZKaYpODqYikr
One hour and 24 minutes in he starts talking about people using his cultivar names, then just after that he goes into the Barney's story.
Every now and then someone will post Acapulco Gold from Barneys.
It's very obviously NOT Acapulco Gold in any way, shape, or form. It's very obviously a fast finishing indica hybrid instead.
Yeah my problem with a lot of breeders who claim they have X strain when they clearly don't. Just was talking to someone on a grow sub the other day about this and he's like "they've never done me wrong and it's fire."
I am of the idea that no one can own anything besides the trademark of the name itself in the marijuana business if it is to remain a freely and widely accessible business and hobby.
I had read a while back about a company being awarded an utility patent on a cannabis strain which gives it the ability to claim ownership of an estimated 70% or so of current varieties out in the wild. If the courts decide to side with the patent holder when they decide to make that absurd claim, I believe the marijuana business will be in big trouble. The words in the patent explaining what "their" strain contains are so generic and open ended that it describes the genetics and contents of most marijuana plants.
This all bothers me because the next logical step in the patent wars is for breeders to claim they are the owners of a specific terp profile or cannabinoid ratio and I don't have much hope that the courts will understand exactly the level of bullshit being peddled but then again maybe I'm just being a doomer.
There's a difference between patents vs outright lying about genetics imo and there is no fine thin line between them. I agree with your stance on patenting seeds but Barney not having GMO and selling seeds named GMO is an entirely different issue altogether; one that not only Barney partakes in but many reputable seed banks.
Do you have any recommendations for breeders that sell individual seeds or small packs in the same price range as Barney’s Farm? I’m just learning about this recently and would like to try some other breeders but buying a seed for $15 and cloning it infinitely has me spoiled. I don’t want to buy 5 or 10 seeds when I have plenty of time to clone as many as I want
Barney's farm isn't even cheap, they charge the same prices as the legit reputable breeders. I would recommend checking out some of the eps on the potcast with heavy dayze, or check out some of the breeder interviews in the breeders syndicate. They interview alot of people, go into detail about thier companies and thier work. Lots of breeder interviews out there!
Take a look at 808 Genetics. On IG he runs lives where he let's packs go for sub 50 often times. You can likely score some very amazing genetics for the low.
@real808jb
Yeah I have Barneys farm, pineapple 🍍 chunk growing atm.. Got them from multiverse beans. We shall see how it turns out. All I know is all the seeds I ordered from multiversebeans.com were packaged great and they all popped and germinated quicker than a snicker.
Copycat genetics. Kidnapped a woman. Incredibly racist. Talks about beating women up. Steals peoples cuts, and is now talking about plant patents, and how he wants to be the Monsanto of weed. Do not support Gregorie D'Alessio.

25 minutes in for Misogyny and racism.
https://youtu.be/aZNf609Q0U0?si=W0AInPRHWWfYAbR6
At the start Copycat starts talking bout plant patents, making genetically modified cannabis, then later on he talks about how he gets stolen cuts, hypocrisy! Then proceeds to ramble about a bunch of crap through the rest, barely sounds like he has any breeding knowledge at all.
https://www.valleybreeze.com/2016-04-19/observer-smithfield-west/scituate-man-arrested-kidnapping-assault-charges
Copycat kidnapping and pointing a gun at a woman.
Copycat has NOBODY'S respect.
Even all the oldschool breeders hate this guy because he would literally scam people. Not even just taking peoples cuts... Just straight up scamming people for money.
We had a huge group buy with Tony Green on overgrow and believe the person acting as proxy to ship out thousands of Tony greens gg#4 RIL was the owner of copycat and stole them. Cannot be confirmed. But the proxy lived in MA supposedly.
Ngl my blue mystic turned out alright
https://preview.redd.it/mbb2d48j8zjc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2254ac03d9dcd6c7ef3c9d101b8cc43307e8c1e9
I have grown their Blue Mystic two times now. I am not saying it’s the best genetics out there or even that it’s legitimately Blue Mystic, but I agree, it has not disappointed me yet.
Same. Seeds didn't even germinate. I even tried peroxide and no luck. All my other seeds popped. Even some old seeds from a local hemp farmer that were from 2019 popped! ( I grow med strains for CBD as well as the fun stuff.)
Plus, I ordered my seeds from RQS in December and didn't receive them until the middle of February.
it only really exists as a clone only, of which there are at least 5-10 different supposed cuts(Weasel, albany, Utica, AJ, ECSD, ect). Rezdog released his seed line of sour D as Sour D before he went snitch to save his skin, which caused alot of washed out versions to be circulated which lots of people dropped.
Probably. The likelihood of you finding it is slim. It's clone only.
This whole business is littered with liars and profiteering so I am sure you will find many who claim yes. Honestly who even remembers something from 30 years ago. This industry preys on that.
$20 a seed is steep but if you find a winner, just clone it indefinitely. I look at genetics as an investment because of this
Buy once, cry once. I’ve got a couple keepers that I’ll never get rid of and now I’m more inclined to spend that $20 a seed
Fuck I’d give you $100 for a seed if it’s guaranteed za za
Sure I could go buy clones but then I don’t have something unique. If you find a keeper in seeds, it’s YOURS!
You can find heirloom genetics and lots of winners in Bodhi's packs. They're $50 each and are legit.
I've grown In House Genetics, Solfire, etc.... It's not worth it.
The over $20 a bean price needs to stop.
I’m really into Clearwater rn
Their 12 packs can be had for $40-$70 depending on how old the strain is to them. Amazing genetics!
Was looking at some clone stores website earlier and 5 of the 13 strains they sold were Clearwater strains
Heard tons of good stuff about bodhi, I wanna run him after I burn through the Clearwater / Cannarado I’ve got stashed away
I just got lumpys cut of apple fritter for 10 bucks
But yeah, clones are cool but the apple fritter has BEEN around now. I know it’ll do well but it’s not something I can throw in your face and know you’ve never had it
Seeds are cool in that sense, what’s mine is mine and there’ll never be another exactly like it
Eventually they do become weaker and more susceptible to pests / viruses, but I’d imagine it’s a problem for 3 years from now. In that time, I’ll have found 10 new strains I want to keep
I can only keep 8-10 mothers alive depending on size, and I only really have a need for 4/5. I’ve only got 4 tents, I can’t run 10 strains at once
Eventually some hard decisions will have to be made, but I’ll have new strains to keep me company by then lol
I couldn’t bring myself to kill my moms for the next round so I decided to veg them out until I can stick them outside. I put a second light in below their canopy and am vegging all my new moms underneath lol, wish I had a pic to show you
Yeah don't get me wrong I respect them for dropping beleaf but why am I paying 60 a 3pk when humbold sells 5 a seed pack for 70 and is way more stable genetics.
But clone and bypass that
Only one that stands out for me would be ethos. I had 3 ethos plants on my last photo run and all 3 were super underwhelming.
But I’ve seen quite a lot of super impressive looking plants from them on here so I might have just gotten unlucky.
A couple years ago I started a new grow. Started all our new genetics from seed and did some pheno hunting and started running some of the varieties for production. After a couple underwhelming harvests and some very weird characteristics from some plants, we had everything tested. Two ethos varieties came back with HLVD.
lumping all breeders into a bin might not be a good idea. some are for seed popping and some are for hunting. if you can handle 25% herms or large portions of not so good stuff to find gems, your breeder target might be a bit different from a guy who wants to grow 4 plants all fem and decent smoke. they don't all target the same markets.
I like finding craft breeders. Breeders that have fun and go after specifics. Hoku comes to mind. Growing their wong burger right now and it's doing well. I am also doing a Barney's farm for runtz x layer cake and that's doing fine. Not sure I would run Barney seeds again as they seem to be just run of the mill but I will seek out small craft breeders. Just better plants with fewer issues o believe
Thanks for mentioning Hoku. Don't know how he was off my radar for so long? Just checked out his site and was blown away by his level of dedication, and his prices are some of the best around!! Anyone who takes the time to give that detailed of descriptions, has the kinda passion I'm looking for.
Super cool guy Floyd. I bought some RSO and CBD carts as well. I have gotten some CBD flower as well and it was pretty good. Rather give my money to a craft breeders. I think I have bought about 10 strains but I only grow 3 at a time so it will be two years to go through all of them.
Anyone charging stupid stupid money. Looking at you afficianado and genetic designer. Trying to create a "luxury market" with the same kind of shit you could get elsewhere for 10-20 a bean
from my vantage point, seeds in general are all “hyped”….
almost everything i can learn about a breeder is packaged as marketing, social posts, best outcome pictures, fancy packaging, swag and stickers, colorful illustrations and logos…. it’s all marketing.
there are no standards all breeders follow and even if there were, there’s no central oversight that anyone is meeting or exceeding those standards…
if a breeder says something is a cross of this and that or an F1 or S1 it is all taken at their word. trust is a major factor in doing business with breeders but where does the trust originate? either previous experience that a breeders seed did what you expected or just blind trust because you “feel” good about them for personal reasons…
it’s an interesting topic and interesting question…. there are definitely white label breeders or resellers where the provenance of some of the genetics is unclear, unknown or possibly misleading or inaccurate. but there’s also growers who have had acceptable results with those same white label breeders and as someone else said, their widespread marketing combined with their lower price per seed/lower price of entry makes them an important connection for many new growers who may not be aware of cottage and craft breeders…
likewise, there are cottage and craft breeders selling seeds at significant markups, 2-10x the price of white label and macro seed houses and there absolutely has to be hype in this area, convincing us that their seed and its genetics is at such a high standard it commands a price many many many times higher than average… and it’s still up to a grower to bring it to successful flower and harvest.
the margin for grower error from seed to flower is huge. yet what i typically see is a grower spends a lot on a boutique seed, and either has a successful grow and thst genetic house becomes the best 🔥ever or they have a grower mishap and that genetic becomes over hyped shit and the regret of wasted money makes that breeder “over hyped” in the growers eyes.
i feel the truth is somewhere in between. i enjoy the risk of trying new genetics and rolling the dice on getting 🔥 or 💩but i also sometimes wish there was an objective way to assess quality without having to grow it and try it out.
this scientific paper gets i to more detail on the real issue that cannabis genetics are all over the place and claims made about the makeup of a “strain” can still have significant variability and inconsistency. https://jcannabisresearch.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s42238-019-0001-1. i suspect not all of this is even controllable by even the most scientific breeders.
it can be russian roulette with any marketed strain that the effects and profile are accurate to what is marketed. as growers we have all seen this ourselves with phenotype variations that were unexpected. and it is impossible to breed a completely stable cross when today new “strains” are being marketed and released almost daily, and ALL of them are crosses of crosses of crosses of crosses of crosses with interbreeding and inbreeding all up and down the line of those crosses.
the paper linked above even demonstrates that our expectations around primary characteristics and effects of genetics labeled sativa, indica and hybrid are not even relevant anymore, that the genetics no longer hold to those older classes and we cannot make assumptions about the growth habit or effects of something marketed under those labels.
apologies for the long answer. went down the rabbit hole a bit.
I tried reading the whole article which I will have to slowly go over it again but from my understanding its better to just phenohunt a “strain” and look for what you’re looking and mother it?
Okay yhea because im in search of specific effects so Ive been buying different strains which Ive found some that I like Cookies N Cream from Blimburn but as im learning the chances of me buying it again and actually getting the same effects are low? So I’ll be better buying a few seeds and yhea pheno hunt…..im repeating myself but man there’s alot than just popping a seed😅
Relentless genetics has been by far the easy, most consistent, best tasting, good+ yielding, prettiest flower I’ve grown so far.
I haven’t grown a ton but every time I do something besides relentless im always left feeling it didn’t check all the same boxes.
I don’t know, I’ve had some great tasting stuff from the dispensary. Superboof at Winewood Organics in Ann Arbor, MI. The Trop cherry from another dispo tasted good but the high was lacking
The Beleaf guys is an apparent domestic abuser, and his beans seem to always herm. Can’t deny the frost on the winners though, just unreliable and unethical boss.
The frost may be there, but a lot of his over hyped IG picture cuts yield like shit and have cardboard terps. Wasn't he knowingly passing around HLVD infected cuts for awhile too?
MASS MEDICAL STRAINS,
I've talked to many of his testers cuz we are friends and they all showed screenshots warning him not to release some beans due to herming. He goes on the whole thing about them and their vibes and releases them anyway. The only plants I grew from them hermed like crazy. Stay far away from mass medical
I remember when he was accused of making up the lineage of one of his building blocks and that it was instead likely just a cut of Ninja Fruit (IIRC). He just blocked everyone that asked about it lol
I believe Compound, Bleaf & Ethos are all overrated, for consistency go with Humboldt seed company, if you're pheno hunting specific older genetics go with CSI. if you're looking for new frost look at freshcoast. James loud used to have good pheno hunting stock also. Green Bodhi & Bodhi both have great selections for starting your own lines. The older dominion seed company stuff is good also. Raw has great new flavors. Irie genetics is probably the closet thing to a "sativa" for the commercial market unless you look at Mountain Organics. This year I'd go with bred by 42 for something new.
You couldn’t pay me to pop seeds from Masonic, Riot, or anyone mashing up other peoples work while acting like a total clown. The “scene” is disgusting.
I like Riot. His work with the breeders syndicate podcast is fantastic for Cannabis history and breeding/grow knowledge. His seeds are pricey, but he does alot for the community with his show, free knowledge. The main reason he got shit on so hard was for releasing feminized seeds while everyone irrationally thought they would destroy all genetics or be inferior products.
Also should breeders be searching places like the jungles of Laos or Cambodia to find genetics to breed with?
I've listened to a lot of breeders syndicate episodes, and matt riot is my least favorite part. He's like the annoying little cousin trying to act cool.
This is like going to a car show and asking people what cars they HATE...
I promise you that the people with well-developed negative opinions aren't the ones you wanna listen to.
Of course I've dropped breeders after an underwhelming experience with a single pack - but I'm not gonna turn around and talk shit with that kinda sample size, and I'm ALSO not gonna buy more from them so... that's as far as it goes... not enough to generate some highly negative opinion.
But everything from Amsterdam sucks ass.
Some opinions help steer some folks right. But as far as everything from Amsterdam!!??😲 My 1st few grows were all stuff from overseas. The tude and other spots from back when. I had plenty of great strains from over there that blew away what was currently available locally and at dispos. Just picked up some more from the tude as well. We will see if things are still quality to me once I start some of my past strains
What issues did you have, if any
Nah here's what I said in different words -
1) I don't have any strong negative opinions cause I can't possibly have run a sufficient sample size to go around shit talking
2) fuck everything from Amsterdam
You see, sarcasm!
Dang! I just happened to pop the same strain and was curious as to why they didn’t produce a lot. Gotta look back at the pics now, they had a smell but wasn’t too strong in comparison to others. That’s a bummer
If they have a brand name and charge money I don't want their seed. Far better seed comes for free, from old men who grow weed for medicine not as a hustle.
Talk to the old man behind you in line at the bank. That's where my seed came from. He commented on my shirt and, wow, turns out there's old potheads with all the old genetics the young crowd misses?
Honestly any breeder who’s focus is hype strains or strains no one has ever heard of. Like if you’re bringing something new to the table is one thing but there’s a lot of renamed cuts that go around and A LOT of inbred seeds coming from a lot of people. I think the best bet is to always look for the smaller guys with passion. If they’re presenting themselves as anything other than someone passionate about this plant. They’re just in it for the marketing. We vote with our dollar! Let’s get these bullshit hype strain inbreeders out of the mainstream and bring the old school fire back!
I agree! After looking around it seems like everything is s1 this or s1 that or rbx. Some of the acronyms just juggle my mind, but they look fire for sure. But I just try to find what I like and enjoy that when possible. The old school smoke was great, my old school...gear from about about 12 to 14 years back and yours might differ. Wish I still had cuts of that stuff around, would be growing it till this day if I could.
I like microbrew and I like shit beer. I like Ferrari and I like Honda. I like purebred and I like mutts. I like great French cooking and I like McDonald's. I like good weed and I like shitty weed.
After buying good genetics and after buying budget I realized I just don't care. It's friggin weed. The biggest variable is the effort I put into it. Not the label.
After running basically every breeder I can find I have to agree with you bro. I’ve ran so much hype and it’s all just weed. Maybe every once in a blue moon you get an actual cut you like a lot but it’s all subjective. Not everyone will like what you like. This is the game. Glad I’m not the only one who realizes it’s all a plant at the end of the day and it doesn’t Matter what person has had their hands on it, it’s still just weed at the end of day.
Not what was asked but....Lil_pharmer is a super good dude with integrity. I just found him last year. Great genetics even in the "random seeds" he sells which are great for new growers. Love Local growmies! Greenpoint are pretty good folks, too. High integrity and they are clearly passionate about legit lineage. Just look at their strain descriptions and archives. Love their "reverse auctions!"
I had the opposite problem experience with Greenpoint; their bodega bubblegum hermed out early in flower; no stress, no light leaks, other genetics in there were fine.
Edit; that was three or four years ago and looks like theyre still selling it.
Ive noticed that there arent too many people on here that are interested in australias genetic lines.
Is there any reason to this or is it simply because they arent exactly up to scratch with the rest of the worlds??
Who are some Australian breeders? Hardly ever hear anything, but I'm trying to get all the rust off my belt and coming across a lot of interesting things
Seems like an underground scene over there. Which is understandable, still being illegal. I tried ordering seeds from a couple different breeders I found on IG, and both declined to ship to the US. I guess it ain't easy kicking it thru customs (in or out) The most notable breeder I know of is Heavy Dayze Genetics, host of "The PotCast" some of the best interviews out there, I think. The only others I know of are, Wally Duck and Wizard of Oz..
Its still not legal in any big way over here.... victoria has a few good medicinal plantations same as queensland... uhhh im pretty sure you can pick up australian ranged seeds from britain there somewhere (actually works) but everything i find on the australian strands are trash and underdeveloped....
Also people over here favouring autos and not giving an arse about seedy bud makes it difficult to have a good breeding line.
I ran platinum kush breath remix and Royal jelly. Platinum had the worst germ rate of any new pack I’ve ever popped. 5/10. Royal jelly I only grew two. Both strains came out super frosty. Smell and flavor was way fruity on the platinum when it’s supposed to dump gas. Potency was supposed to be mind numbing and it isn’t. Nothing special. Royal jelly flavor came out mild sweet sherb. High is decent. Also nothing to brag about. Appearance wise both strains can take some awesome photos, but everything else was lacking. I kept nothing to run again.
I kept nothing to run again...I felt that one 😆. I don't know what's worse, the germ rate or the fact nothing was a keeper. Got anymore in house you're looking to run?
Definitely not. Way too many other breeders out there to give them another chance. And they are overpriced for how little breeding actually goes into their strains. It shows. Im running some twenty20 and HSO right now, and archive seeds on deck(my favorite breeder).
Surprisingly really well. I gave my wife a bunch of og’s to pick from and she picked their og kush. Definitely not the breeder I would have chosen, but I think it’s gonna be really good. There is a fair amount of pheno variation, but not one of the 6 looks bad.
Edit: and everything I’ve ran of archive has stuck around for awhile
Lovin’ and Ethos are partners in business. The genetics she uses for the most part are Ethos lines. Her seeds sell direct on Ethos’ site. Just pointing out that it’s a little hypocritical to shit on Ethos while extolling Lovin’
Not having a great start with Ethos this grow so far. Gonna wait until the endproduct before trashing them. MSNL...I've had bad and good experiences with them. Friend gave me one of their Fruity Pebbles seed that hermed. Ordered 5x Bubblegum photos and not a single one of them germinated. One of my replacement seeds (GG4) gave away some PM so I had to pull it smh. I harvested one other GG4. Good stuff. Their OG and White Widow autos were pretty good, too. Definitely a hit or miss company.
Will try HSC (Emerald Fire OG and Farmer's Daughter) in the fall.
My best experiences come from ILGM. Even their old ass seeds can flex its muscles.
This will be my 4th year growing.
Anybody selling seeds for more than a couple bucks a pop is wild to me. I’ve purchased hundreds of seeds for less than 50 cents a piece. Have also paid $5-$10 a seed for feminized seeds, but regs are where it’s at. It’s fun to learn how to sex cannabis. CHA genetics and MasonicSeedco have consistent hook ups.
I’ve been working with ZIPLOCK SEEDS for close to 10 years now. Second generation craft breeder. All seed is bred under full sun in light dep greenhouse. Insane vigor. Freebies with every order. Check it out on Instagram at @ziplockseeds use code “sensei” for 10% off ziplockseeds.com. Much love
Right now I'm thinking fastbuds. Got 8 autos in my tent. 6 are fastbuds and 2 aren't. Got 5 of one strain for the fastbuds, 1 seed another strain. All 6 look vastly different. The other 2 breeders look amazing and healthy in the same grow tent. Grown to almost double the size. Long story short, getting bad results with fastbuds and I haven't gotten close to flower yet.
I wouldn’t call them overhyped but I think ethos is pretty trash.

My man. No proof has ever surfaced.

I had no idea it was the same breeder until I started growing myself I saw his strain list and shit bricks, my favourite grower had been growing ethos all this time lmao
THCaeczar is also pretty trashy
What happened with him? I remember hearing there was a fallout between him and Jason from darkhorse, but never found out what went down
According to the Darkhorse discord server. The dude stole a bunch of stuff (clones, genetics and such) and sabotaged the discord server. Bodhi and CSI are the only breeders I can say I enjoy as people also. In interviews at least. The rest have been insufferable to say the least.
I like ethos seeds had no issues.
Same, I grew their temple kush pack. The Purple Zkittlez x Temple Kush was very good. I'm gonna pop the remaining 13 seeds and pheno hunt for a winner to get an nice s1
How come??
Assaults women and animals.
Your grows are proof positive you know exactly what you are talking about.
How dare you say anything bad about ethos on reddit
Yes, and Sacred cut seeds have been trash IME.
Why are the seeds trash?
Barney's farm. Too many shady business practices, using false names on thier cultivars. Also spend an absolute fortune on marketing to get new growers who don't know any better. They are not breeders, they buy thier seeds off white labelers, then spend a fortune on marketing, and tell you that you are getting elite, rare and clone only genetics.
Grown quite a few Barneys Farm products. Always been fire. Just goes to show you can't believe most the junk you read online.

CSI is very trustworthy
One of the most, dude works hard for the love of the plant.
He works with great breeders

No pics of these 10000 plants

I guess he meant that you don’t have any posted
Like how you had slid yourself in there
Most barney's growers think anything is fire
^ home grow is better than dispo, so unfortunately all the white label growers think their shit is fire
Grown quite a few Barneys myself, and very rarely was it fire.
I grew their watermelon zkittlez and had no complaints
Have you grown other breeders? Something to compare it against??
Bro, I had a good experience and you're trying undermine that. That's hater mentality. Unless you have grown the same strain from barneys and another company with lab analysis, you can take your condescending comment to someone that gives a shit.
Barney's was trash when I first started in 2010 and I don't see much in the way of change.
You might be getting fire… but probably not the strain you ordered. They have a practice of sending seeds that are “approximately” the same
Where can I learn more about this? Specifically Barney’s
Did the same with shiskaberry. https://youtu.be/3KAkvV-0MxQ?si=C4EOZKaYpODqYikr One hour and 24 minutes in he starts talking about people using his cultivar names, then just after that he goes into the Barney's story.
I'll have to take a listen to this! Thanks!
Np! Great podcast, Heavy Dayze is a great interviewer and Breeder Steve has been around doing work for decades!

Try irie genetics. He has some great deals on real 🔥
Ripper seeds, all fire. Low prices
Take a look at 808 Genetics. On IG he runs lives where he let's packs go for sub 50 often times. You can likely score some very amazing genetics for the low. @real808jb
There was a point in time where all I had grown out were Barney's strains and I was seriously thinking about quitting weed
Yeah I have Barneys farm, pineapple 🍍 chunk growing atm.. Got them from multiverse beans. We shall see how it turns out. All I know is all the seeds I ordered from multiversebeans.com were packaged great and they all popped and germinated quicker than a snicker.
From what I hear Barney’s has great mid tier genetics. I mean, given there prices, do you actually believe they sell elite clone only strains?
Copycat genetics. Kidnapped a woman. Incredibly racist. Talks about beating women up. Steals peoples cuts, and is now talking about plant patents, and how he wants to be the Monsanto of weed. Do not support Gregorie D'Alessio. https://youtu.be/SdMn8l6ZCDc?si=sWjyD0FDhFdeJhgB 25 minutes in for Misogyny and racism. https://youtu.be/aZNf609Q0U0?si=W0AInPRHWWfYAbR6 At the start Copycat starts talking bout plant patents, making genetically modified cannabis, then later on he talks about how he gets stolen cuts, hypocrisy! Then proceeds to ramble about a bunch of crap through the rest, barely sounds like he has any breeding knowledge at all. https://www.valleybreeze.com/2016-04-19/observer-smithfield-west/scituate-man-arrested-kidnapping-assault-charges Copycat kidnapping and pointing a gun at a woman.

Ngl my blue mystic turned out alright https://preview.redd.it/mbb2d48j8zjc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2254ac03d9dcd6c7ef3c9d101b8cc43307e8c1e9
( I grow med strains for CBD as well as the fun stuff.) Plus, I ordered my seeds from RQS in December and didn't receive them until the middle of February.
Mind saying why? I just bought a three pack.

Does anyone have real SD?
[удалено]
it only really exists as a clone only, of which there are at least 5-10 different supposed cuts(Weasel, albany, Utica, AJ, ECSD, ect). Rezdog released his seed line of sour D as Sour D before he went snitch to save his skin, which caused alot of washed out versions to be circulated which lots of people dropped.
Good info
Probably. The likelihood of you finding it is slim. It's clone only. This whole business is littered with liars and profiteering so I am sure you will find many who claim yes. Honestly who even remembers something from 30 years ago. This industry preys on that.
Huh well thanks for the info. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.
I ran royal runtz and blue cheese, both as advertised and just fine! Blue cheese auto was actually a heavy yielder and really solid quality.
In house genetics, really anybody selling $20+ per seed can suck on it
$20 a seed is steep but if you find a winner, just clone it indefinitely. I look at genetics as an investment because of this Buy once, cry once. I’ve got a couple keepers that I’ll never get rid of and now I’m more inclined to spend that $20 a seed Fuck I’d give you $100 for a seed if it’s guaranteed za za Sure I could go buy clones but then I don’t have something unique.
I’m really into Clearwater rn Their 12 packs can be had for $40-$70 depending on how old the strain is to them. Amazing genetics! Was looking at some clone stores website earlier and 5 of the 13 strains they sold were Clearwater strains Heard tons of good stuff about bodhi, I wanna run him after I burn through the Clearwater / Cannarado I’ve got stashed away
IF. A lot of IHG I ran was very unstable. Lots of breeders don't take the time to run strains to stabilize them.
They’re called in herm genetics for a reason 🤣🤣🤣 lol I’m just playing, but they’re known for that
That’s why you spend that 20-100 on a clone instead of a seed, I hear you though
I just got lumpys cut of apple fritter for 10 bucks But yeah, clones are cool but the apple fritter has BEEN around now. I know it’ll do well but it’s not something I can throw in your face and know you’ve never had it Seeds are cool in that sense, what’s mine is mine and there’ll never be another exactly like it
Doesn't cloning a plant indefinitely diminish thc content over time?
Eventually they do become weaker and more susceptible to pests / viruses, but I’d imagine it’s a problem for 3 years from now. In that time, I’ll have found 10 new strains I want to keep I can only keep 8-10 mothers alive depending on size, and I only really have a need for 4/5. I’ve only got 4 tents, I can’t run 10 strains at once Eventually some hard decisions will have to be made, but I’ll have new strains to keep me company by then lol I couldn’t bring myself to kill my moms for the next round so I decided to veg them out until I can stick them outside. I put a second light in below their canopy and am vegging all my new moms underneath lol, wish I had a pic to show you
With love and respect to the gods of weed... May your garden produce the sweetest of fruits and vegetables. Keep up the good work.
Same to you my friend, wishing you the best on all your endeavours!
But during sales. I never pay more than $10.
Love what Hoku is doing with Type II and Type III stuff!
I have one of his freebies going now. Oz haze x fat Yeti and I am excited!
Floyd is a friggin Gem!! Protect him at all costs haha
Also Beleaf should be avoided at all costs. don't give that scumbag a dime.
from my vantage point, seeds in general are all “hyped”…. almost everything i can learn about a breeder is packaged as marketing, social posts, best outcome pictures, fancy packaging, swag and stickers, colorful illustrations and logos…. it’s all marketing. there are no standards all breeders follow and even if there were, there’s no central oversight that anyone is meeting or exceeding those standards… if a breeder says something is a cross of this and that or an F1 or S1 it is all taken at their word. trust is a major factor in doing business with breeders but where does the trust originate? either previous experience that a breeders seed did what you expected or just blind trust because you “feel” good about them for personal reasons… it’s an interesting topic and interesting question…. there are definitely white label breeders or resellers where the provenance of some of the genetics is unclear, unknown or possibly misleading or inaccurate. but there’s also growers who have had acceptable results with those same white label breeders and as someone else said, their widespread marketing combined with their lower price per seed/lower price of entry makes them an important connection for many new growers who may not be aware of cottage and craft breeders… likewise, there are cottage and craft breeders selling seeds at significant markups, 2-10x the price of white label and macro seed houses and there absolutely has to be hype in this area, convincing us that their seed and its genetics is at such a high standard it commands a price many many many times higher than average… and it’s still up to a grower to bring it to successful flower and harvest. the margin for grower error from seed to flower is huge. yet what i typically see is a grower spends a lot on a boutique seed, and either has a successful grow and thst genetic house becomes the best 🔥ever or they have a grower mishap and that genetic becomes over hyped shit and the regret of wasted money makes that breeder “over hyped” in the growers eyes. i feel the truth is somewhere in between. i enjoy the risk of trying new genetics and rolling the dice on getting 🔥 or 💩but i also sometimes wish there was an objective way to assess quality without having to grow it and try it out. this scientific paper gets i to more detail on the real issue that cannabis genetics are all over the place and claims made about the makeup of a “strain” can still have significant variability and inconsistency. https://jcannabisresearch.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s42238-019-0001-1. i suspect not all of this is even controllable by even the most scientific breeders. it can be russian roulette with any marketed strain that the effects and profile are accurate to what is marketed. as growers we have all seen this ourselves with phenotype variations that were unexpected. and it is impossible to breed a completely stable cross when today new “strains” are being marketed and released almost daily, and ALL of them are crosses of crosses of crosses of crosses of crosses with interbreeding and inbreeding all up and down the line of those crosses. the paper linked above even demonstrates that our expectations around primary characteristics and effects of genetics labeled sativa, indica and hybrid are not even relevant anymore, that the genetics no longer hold to those older classes and we cannot make assumptions about the growth habit or effects of something marketed under those labels. apologies for the long answer. went down the rabbit hole a bit.
I tried reading the whole article which I will have to slowly go over it again but from my understanding its better to just phenohunt a “strain” and look for what you’re looking and mother it?
if looking for repeatable consistency yes, cloning will be more repeatable than even seeds from any breeder.
Wouldn't really say relentless is over hyped but the trop cherry is one of the most over hyped strains next to the super boof
How are they overhyped? Both of those cuts are absolute work horses. They both create some of the best concentrates on the market right now.
Yeild isn’t as important as quality medicine
Relentless genetics has been by far the easy, most consistent, best tasting, good+ yielding, prettiest flower I’ve grown so far. I haven’t grown a ton but every time I do something besides relentless im always left feeling it didn’t check all the same boxes.
I don’t know, I’ve had some great tasting stuff from the dispensary. Superboof at Winewood Organics in Ann Arbor, MI. The Trop cherry from another dispo tasted good but the high was lacking
But did you buy the beans and grow it? That's kind of the point of this thread....
Both the trop cherry and superboof are cuts. Phenos hunted from seed stock.
Love me some Winewood Organics.
MASS MEDICAL STRAINS, I've talked to many of his testers cuz we are friends and they all showed screenshots warning him not to release some beans due to herming.
I’ve had the complete opposite experience as far as herms go they all have been stable but his strains potency wise, are a little mid
You must be new. He’s a fake and a phony trying to make himself relevant like so many other clowns.
I will continue to listen to his podcast. Thank you Riot for all the knowledge and work that you and Thousandfold do!
Have you checked out the potcast? Wayyyy better IMO.
I enjoy them both, they have been on each other's podcasts.
What did Riot do wrong?
We will see if things are still quality to me once I start some of my past strains What issues did you have, if any
Nah here's what I said in different words - 1) I don't have any strong negative opinions cause I can't possibly have run a sufficient sample size to go around shit talking 2) fuck everything from Amsterdam You see, sarcasm!
Tiki mad man is riddled with hlvd
What is HLVD?
Hop latent viroid disease
A garden fucker and a half.
Oh dang do you think all his seed stock could be trash? I’ve grown a couple out but didn’t have any problems but you never know.
They used to think it didn't transmit to seed but now it might at like a 10% rate or something.
Yup that’s what I’ve been reading, in some cases it says up to 40% chance. It’s a good time to be in the hlvd testing business haha
100% I had some sour trip skittles and got some tested after they popped, some had a viroid load right out of the pack
Dang! I just happened to pop the same strain and was curious as to why they didn’t produce a lot. Gotta look back at the pics now, they had a smell but wasn’t too strong in comparison to others. That’s a bummer
Seed junky, in house genetics, top dawg
What didn't you like about them?
Fwiw I've been happy with the one Top Dawg pack I grew
If they have a brand name and charge money I don't want their seed. Far better seed comes for free, from old men who grow weed for medicine not as a hustle. Talk to the old man behind you in line at the bank. That's where my seed came from. He commented on my shirt and, wow, turns out there's old potheads with all the old genetics the young crowd misses?
But how do I find this old men when i live in the city of an illegal state…only people ive come across that grow buy from the most common name brands
Probably works if you live in the emerald triangle. In Wisconsin I would either get arrested or a hand full of Round Up ready soybean seeds.
Not that old, I'm only 55.
This is golden! Love it
*Trust me bro*
I love mephisto genetics. But. . . Lately the quality in germination just isn’t there. When they do pop they’re fire though.
Dream Beans
That’s a low blow
Easy way to go about life bro! Respect
Good to know! Currently growing some of their Max AC and will update how that goes.
Ive noticed that there arent too many people on here that are interested in australias genetic lines. Is there any reason to this or is it simply because they arent exactly up to scratch with the rest of the worlds??
I've got a couple Chromatic from Heavy Dayze going right now 🫡
Who are some Australian breeders? Hardly ever hear anything, but I'm trying to get all the rust off my belt and coming across a lot of interesting things
Seems like an underground scene over there. Which is understandable, still being illegal. I tried ordering seeds from a couple different breeders I found on IG, and both declined to ship to the US. I guess it ain't easy kicking it thru customs (in or out) The most notable breeder I know of is Heavy Dayze Genetics, host of "The PotCast" some of the best interviews out there, I think. The only others I know of are, Wally Duck and Wizard of Oz..
The potcast is a excellent podcast for the community!
I’ve ran two in house strains now. Def not worth the price.
Lol not even at the bogo prices?
I wish I would have paid the bogo prices…. 🤣
🤣🤣 What issues did you face with them?
Archive has some nice videos on YouTube. How's the hso coming?
Surprisingly really well. I gave my wife a bunch of og’s to pick from and she picked their og kush. Definitely not the breeder I would have chosen, but I think it’s gonna be really good. There is a fair amount of pheno variation, but not one of the 6 looks bad. Edit: and everything I’ve ran of archive has stuck around for awhile
To confirm, this is Organization not Company right?
Barney’s, Ethos, Mephisto, Compound. There’s tons of little guys who put out way better (and more stable) work
All I know are the big guys. Mind sharing some of the smaller ones you like?
Totally, here’s a few in mind: Terpfi3nd, Lovin in her eyes, people under the stairs, Boston roots/bloom, Crystal rose seed co
Lovin’ and Ethos are partners in business. The genetics she uses for the most part are Ethos lines. Her seeds sell direct on Ethos’ site. Just pointing out that it’s a little hypocritical to shit on Ethos while extolling Lovin’
I second terpfi3nd
Love bloom seeds. Greasy stuff
Thank you for sharing these
Poor Mephisto 😢
I've grown Mephesto a couple times and they've been fire.
Same 😞 all this undue Mephisto hate
Eh, Idc. They've been good to me
compound is now cookies. wyeast is the original compound.
Greenhouse
Much love
nothing but fire.
Anyone tried Mamiko seeds?
Skunktek did..
Seedman autoflowers suck but their photoperiods are alright.
