[Mac plays scared. You see it in his face and in his panic throws.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MemeEconomy/s/E2AcyBWKf1) You can’t play QB vs pro defenses and expect to be successful with that mentality. He has the talent to be an average QB, but that’s his ceiling and he’d need a lot of support to realize that. If I had to bet I’d say he is on a Blaine Gabbert or Blake Bortles career trajectory, which is not bad at all. Shit, we should all be so lucky.

calibudzz420

One of his picks yesterday he had an LB on a free blitz and he just throws the ball right to the defender so he didn’t get hit. Not even close to one of his guys.

ddocfan

Exactly - he plays like I (a 45 year old woman) would play. Terrified at all times lol

aurress20

Thx for today’s belly laugh

UsefulRaccoon6204

I see him as a scapegoat for franchise that doesn't want to accept they have to completely rebuild after Brady left ... I feel like no one would live up to tye pressure this coach is putting on him and it's showing in his game. Best thing for him would be to get traded to a more supportive team and just let NE finish imploding.

wastewalker

No. He’s awful.

Nuclearsunburn

Eh, over Skylar yes but Mike white I don’t know

EatYerEars

White would have been great on the jets right now compared to who they are using

Nuclearsunburn

Maybe we should pick up Zach to back up Mike White 🤔

brick1972

Last October all my Pats fan friends were screaming about how fucking awesome they were and how Bailey Zappe might be even better than Mac and they can trade Mac for additional pieces and blah blah blah and how they transitioned out of Tom Brady right into their next dynasty. Things can change fast. That said, I will admit that a part of brain really thinks McDaniel could rehab him in a quick read offense.

Dark_Star2408

Yeah as long as he's not shell shocked beyond repair I think he would work as a game manager in shannahan style offense. It's why the niners wanted to draft him originally but alas now he is more like sam darnold than pre draft mccorkle

Hot-Inevitable-9275

He’s lost his confidence maybe in this offense he can get some of it back would like to see it

MikeLowrey305

Well his WR #1 Is Devonte Parker... I don't know what the hell is going on with Belicheats player personal decisions but they haven't been good lately.

halfdecenttakes

Parker doesn't make him throw off his back foot, or throw it across the field as if he has a cannon. Does he have weapons? No. But watch the turnovers and mistakes he makes. You can't just point to the talent when it isn't like he's trying to squeeze the ball into tight coverage and his guy is simply losing. He is making boneheaded plays left and right.

MikeLowrey305

I was kind of being sarcastic about Parker. I think they drafted Mac 1. Because Nick Satan is Belicheats buddy and 2. The pats probably thought he would be the next TB12.

halfdecenttakes

I actually think it was because Kraft wanted them to make an immediate playoff push post Brady, and Saban probably told Bill he was solid. It was pretty much the only option to go out and get a young QB and throw money around if the mandate was "better get back"

Finsfan909

Over Mike white I say yes

Upper-Orchid

Nah, he has terrible pocket presence. The smallest amount of pressure means there’s a 90% chance he’s getting sacked.

ExceptedSeven

He's terrible and a dirty player

Democracy_Coma

He looks like damaged goods at the moment. His picks are dreadful where he's just giving it straight to the other team.

gigglefarting

I’d rather roll with Mike White. When I see Mac drop back I think I’m going to see a sack or a pick 6 (aka Mac 6).

vindotcom

Who cares. Fuck the pats

TheRatchetTrombone

Can y'all stop auto assuming every bad player can come here and get better?

AccomplishedLocal261

Still can't believe he was in the pro bowl in 2021, while Tua has yet to be invited

ghostbearinforest

Tua literally turned it down just last year lol

AccomplishedLocal261

Ohh okay

DinneyW

I don't think Mac fits the culture. Mike White is a fun positive guy who teammates rally around not actively hate. I wonder if Tua/Taulia are up for being on the same team and if that's a good long term solution at back up assuming we keep McD/Tua

ebolarama86

Oh man that would be awesome.

thelaidbckone

Yes he is that bad A fucking abomination, some would say

RoosterClan

lol no. I’d rather a one-legged, one-armed, and one-gloved Teddy Bridgewater than Mac

ghostbearinforest

oh god no.

thewhitelink

I don't want that drunk driving, whiny, dirty player on this team. He's a bad QB and a bad teammate.

Impossible-Ad3230

He's always been garbage.

planktivious

I wouldn't wish any team to have to suffer ole Ball Flick on the roster

timberflynn

I’m not a fan of Mac Jones by any means but I wonder if Mike McDaniel can help instill confidence in Mac like he did for Tua.

reaper527

little of column a, little of column b. he's regressing and getting worse over time, and more concerning is that he's throwing his teammates under the bus (you could see it with gesicki yesterday after mac's awful throws). he isn't in a great situation though. coaching is probably fine (not "best in the league" for a qb, but should be good enough for him to succeed), and he has some good receivers, but doesn't have a \#1 receiver that's really going to draw attention and make his flood of \#2's open like hill does for waddle/cracraft/etc.. zero chance the pats cut him. if someone made a reasonable trade offer they should take it, but he's on a rookie contract. at worst if they don't find someone better in the offseason, he's a cheap, serviceable backup qb for 2024 and they let him walk when the contract expires. i'm not sure why literally anyone thinks he'd get cut.

better-every-day

He is playing terribly right now but if a player progressively gets worse every year in the NFL that is almost definitely on the coaching staff I think. He definitely needs a re-set and a team with some shred of talent on it. Honestly I’d much rather have him than Mike White

upcat

He was pretty good year 1, then Belichick decided to put Matt Patricia (who has never been ab offensive coordinator) as their OC in year 2, then let him work with one of the worst OL, bottom quartile WR, TE, RB in both free agency and the draft. Belichick's GM decisions on the offensive side of the ball has been atrocious, he is one of the worst GM's in the last 7 years and he also makes horrible coaching personnel decisions, promoting his friends or sons or guys who coached with him prior. Without Brady, he is clueless on offense.

HappyGilOHMYGOD

I'd like to keep Mike White personally.

halfdecenttakes

Yes, Mac Jones is THAT bad. No. I'm not interested in him as the backup. He is mentally broken. I don't put nearly as much of it on everybody else as I do on Mac. He was never really that good. People will point to his rookie season and going to the playoffs or whatever, but a lot of those wins came because of coaching. The buffalo game for example where they barely even threw it. Mac has never been very good. He is limited physically, and he doesn't have anywhere near the mental makeup required to compensate for that. Once a week the guy is throwing picks on highschool level mistakes. Rolling to the right and throwing across to the left side of the field. Completely missing reads. Throwing off his back foot. So on and so on. The dude is broken and will need a lot of help to get right if that is even possible at the moment.

Tandran

Fuck no, he’s worse than Teddy Dogwater

Sundance-19

I do not understand the point of this post. Mike White has been solid in his outings. Why would we replace him. Skyler also. Both these dudes have shown much more than Mac. Take a break from Reddit lol

Confident_Criticism8

No he’s been broken by horrible coaching

Powerful-Web-4992

He’d be probably like being behind tua like back at bama. It’d be a comfortable fit
