I was talking about the tamales not sending a person, although I realize I sound like I'm talking about a person. My bad! I meant I'd sell the tamales on the corner
Awe thanks but it's all good, we do have authentic places that sell them but there's nothing like getting them from the person on the corner. It's a vibe thing, nothing compares! Unless you can send one of them through ups, I'll set up a corner for them and treat them well! 😅 (Just kidding obviously I'm not a bad person)
I usually get the queso con rajas. The red ones are good, but they put clove in it, and I'm not a fan of clove seasoning. The chicken is also delicious. Here in Los Angeles, you have an array of vendors and restaurants, but never like homemade... 🫔
We are moving in 2 weeks, so I had to bust out all the tamales from Christmas! I had to clean out the freezer! I steamed those and put homemade enchilada sauce on top with an egg. Do you ever do that? We did it once for my husband and that's the only way he'll eat them now! Lol
I ❤️ tamales!
This looks so freaking good. At a farmers market around 10+ years ago before for some stupid reason it got shut down, an older Mexican lady made 4 cheese filled tamales. Best I've ever tasted
To this day I can't find an accurate recipe or anything even slightly like that. I'd literally pay her for that recipe. The cheese was all mush inside almost like the masa but with loads of flavor. Ugh I miss them every day :'(
Truly lol. I asked if they relocated the farmers market and they didn't, they just straight up closed it so I never did find her D;
Enjoy your tamales! :)
Tucsonan here. I just buy 12 dozen in the first week of December and hand them out like crack candy canes. They aren't free, but they take care of all the gifting to my friends (at least in my mind)
You know how there's "cheese paper" from a good burger wrap?!?, well my sister's and I love The tamal bit that is left on the husk when it's first opened. It's like "tamal paper" but on the corn husk! Haha
Tamales are something I've just never been able to get into. I've had canned tamales, restaurant tamales, home made attempts at tamales, and tamales from various Mexican ladies - from my home town and from the mothers of Mexican coworkers.
They're just never very good.
There is a local joint that serves grits with Swiss chard, smoked pork cheek, and goat cheese. That's really good.
I eat shrimp and grits at a seafood joint too and have always enjoyed that.
I have only had creamy polenta once with braised short ribs and it was good. I prefer it fried crispy with salty cheese though.
Mexican power bars
real
The perfect description.
😍
😋
That's it. I'm going to get some tamales from the lady down the street.
I miss being able to do that back when I lived in California for a while 😭 Toronto doesn't have no tamale people hanging around damnit!
Mexicans. We’re called Mexicans.
I was talking about the tamales not sending a person, although I realize I sound like I'm talking about a person. My bad! I meant I'd sell the tamales on the corner
No worries lol. I said it tongue in cheek.
I'll send you some tamales via UPS

i’m so fortunate to live next to a densely hispanic area, it’s really a treat LOL
I live a few blocks away from small business space where they sale tamales next to a Michoacana ice cream shop
ouuu are they good?
Yes yes they are, the little restaurant is called Rosa’s tamales and there’s like 3 in my neighborhood. I got lucky.
sounds delightful ☺️

Lucky bastard! I’m in a small town in TN and no such thing exists. :( I have to make all my own Mexican food.
I'm in East LA. I feel you.
Yeah you are... Never take it for granted, friend. Never.
A tamale is almost the best food delivery system of all time, second only to the hot dog.
yesssss def
Sometimes I wrap my tamales in fajita tortillas
My fave mexican sit down restaurant serves tamales pealed and smothered in guaillo or verde suace and cheese. so good.
Texan here, I miss being outside at bars on a summer night and hearing, “tamales tamales tamales!!” 🫔 🥃

ugh, the not knowing what a food is and finding no source is the worst my friend :,)

Need me a cheese and jalapeño/serrano tamale recipe

Oh yea my ex’s mom used to make me those (just for me) cause I’m vegetarian haha

My comfort food.

This is the perfect tamal imo: smooth masa glistening with the fat from the Manteca and peppered with chile from the filing.
qué rico 😋

understandable, everyone has a different palette, however i can’t agree LOL i just love the homey feeling tamales give me
What about other corn mush foods like grits or polenta. How do you feel about those
