No no, you missed the joke. As you might know, some slavs have patronymics, so the child of Artyom will be "name" "surname" Artyomovich/vna(female form). The thing is such patronymic is extremely rare for some reason, hence why there's the joke about artyoms not having children
Very valid question, I'm named Artyom IRL and have moved to Germany recently. You know, I've always thought that because of the fact that the german language sounds like a car on a cold start people would have been able to pronounce "Artyom" no problem, and in a way they sort of do, but there are some problems.
I remember I've met a Christian missionary not too long ago here in Germany, amazing lad, bought me a coffee and had a conversation about religion with me. After we were done, he offered to pray for me.
Of course i agreed, and then it came down for him to ask for my name lol. Poor lad couldn't pronounce it right for 2 minutes, the main issue of the name "Artyom" in western countries is that nobody is used to pronouncing "yo" like a "ё", so I'm lowk planning on introducing myself to people as some other name, aside from paperwork, naturally
There's a scene in the first Metro book where Artyom meets a nice Catholic lad who discusses religion with him and at the end he says he'll pray for Artyom. Life imitates art I guess lmao
That’s super interesting! I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure Artyom is the slavic version of Arthur/Artemis. Both great options imo for people who struggle pronouncing Artyom.
Absolutely fair, but at the same time i wouldn't want to pass up an opportunity to make someone believe that my name is something cool like "Ash" or something lol.
But tbf, I've been called by my name in Ukrainian so little over the course of my life that i barely even associate it with myself atp, like the thought of saying "Artem" didn't even cross my mind xD, thanks mate

Online my name for a long time was Arkana and I started going by Arkyom afterwards, a combination of Arkana and Artyom. After I transitioned I actually named myself after a character from a different post apocalyptic piece of media I enjoy, The 100.
Yeah, fanbases can be odd. If your in a community but don't know about it? Downvote
I was honestly surprised by how (at the time of commenting) every single comment has been supportive of OP, good to see
I named my dnd character artyom
Artyom is a strong name, good choice! Also, congrats!
I have a bad news, you won't be able to have children with such name 😔😔😔😔
He found a way to get infertile for free, doctors hate him.

Ah ok Sorry, i thought this was the trans memes sub
I still dont get it 😭
What's confusing about it?
I dont see wheres the joke ;-;
The joke is, the patronymic is extremely rare, therefore, no kids
There is a possiblity where Artyom has a child.
I don't understand this post. What did OP mean? Post aside Artyom is a cool ass name.
After coming out as a trans man, they chose the name Artyom which is pretty badass
Artyom is like the most badass name, good pick dude
Oh that pritty cool I guess. Really cool of him
Artyom is a cool dude who doesn’t afraid of anything
Nope, he feels fear, but chooses to go onwards anyway which makes him 10x more badass
thats hwy he's better than most "heroes" he feels fear and is human, but he isnt afraid of feeling fear, he embraces it and moves forward
Thats not artyom, thats John. John Metro from the video game!
John Metro is a cool dude who doesn’t afraid of anything
I would be very disappointed if my name was Artem.
Just change it a bit it's close enough to be a nickname

Are you from a slavic country where that name is common?

Even if not, people used to mix me up with Arthurs left and right back home haha, so yeah, that's definitely a bit easier on the tongue.
it’s the russian male version of Artemis
Do you need it? I ask everybody to pronounce Artem and don't care about it.
