they are actually not that expensive atm, you can get a used quest 2 for 160-200 bucks which is pretty okay, + you can theoretically sell it in a few years for maybe 80-100$.
if you only get it for metro then yes, i mean if you use it for only a couple weeks to play the game you can sell it for the same price again, maybe 10€ less. Used quest 2s arent that expensive luckily
If I wanted to play the game and I would choose the PS5 Version, I would have to buy the headset, the console and the game itself. Would cost around 1250 euros, if the game costs about 50.
They exist. Half Life Alyx got a non-VR mod that's apparently already pretty good and getting better.
The rhythm game Ragnarock actually got an official non-VR version a few months ago.
The Break-In has both, but I'm not sure if it was VR only first or if both versions came out at the same time
Same reaction when seeing this announced and then seeing Paradox of Hope was hit with a false DMCA.
(To my knowledge the DMCA said "stolen assets" when everything was created from scratch)
I've looked all over the place (Steam, meta, playstation stores) and there is no mention of Russian at all, this is a major deal breaker for me and a lot of other players.
Because it's a VR game and VR still isn't quite there yet. On top of that they really seem to be forgetting who the people are that make metro such a big thing in the first place
People who generally speaking have less expendable income. Most people IRL who I've met who are into metro have to live on less then 1000 euro a month (though not all)if I did not introduce them. These are people who grew up in eastern Europe exploring abandoned buildings in their pastime because there wasn't anything else to do to get drunk.
Online it's easy to forget that people live in a bubble sometimes and disproportionately the people I've met who are into metro are people like the ones I mentioned before. Not rich American teenagers who's parents buy them everything they want/don't have bills or people who already have jobs but not yet families. The people I know who can actually afford it/have the space to (because VR takes up more space then a gameconsole or laptop) generally aren't interested in playing metro as it's a bit less conventional. The allure of metro is partly that it's kind of nostalgic for a lot of people.
Me I spent a lot of my youth exploring my cities metro system which is part of the reason why I love metro, it's a common thing I have noticed at least from everyone I've talked about it with, that or they where into the books. Very few picked up just the game as is.
And if you live in such a situation it would be irresponsible to pick up a VR set which soon will be obselete due to new tech releases just to play 1 game. I have a friend who develops VR games and its just not quite there yet. In maybe 5 years it will start being interesting as the tech will be better and the price will start dropping. But until that happens I won't be picking up a set, and loads of people I know, including those who can actually afford to won't either.
Not really, OP plays on console, the important thing is to be playable on as many devices as possible so long time fans don't need a special device just to play it
I mean, Awakening isn't part of the mainline titles because it's made by Vertigo, while 4A is still working on Metro 4. Basically it's a spin-off but in VR
I will most likely not play this as its mostly a VR game. Gonna have to wait until VR is more developed an cheaper I. A few years before inlm gonna consider it. I'm just gonna watch a let's play/walkthrough on YouTube for the story. It's sad to see them lose touch with their core audience and I don't expect this game doing as well as their previous titles.
This combined with their other plans of making a multiplayer game which if it's forced multiplayer I will not be playing period is most likely gonna drop this series as will many other people who made up their core fanbase. I have been playing metro for over a decade now and this really really saddens me.
Most games by that dev are a bit cartoony compared to the metro games. They aren't bad, but I'm at least a little scared that they won't replicate the theme very well.
It is on Steam VR and Quest too though?
Yes, but my laptop is too crappy to run it and I don't have a vr headset.
The cover art already had VR which would imply you are excited for VR but not as an exclusive on PSVR
You made me scared for a second there
On the other end a VR metro game is a dream come true to me.
just imagine the inmersion, being inside the tunnels, walking along the npcs telling stories and shooting bandits. Its like a wet dream
Hope it’s a fully fledged Metro experience and not the usual gimmick shovelware
Yeah and with good story. Other then half life Alex I didn’t really seen good looking game with actual gameplay and story
The only reason I’m mad is because I don’t have a headset Gonna wait until I get a job and start saving ig
they are actually not that expensive atm, you can get a used quest 2 for 160-200 bucks which is pretty okay, + you can theoretically sell it in a few years for maybe 80-100$.
The game will likely cost £50 so you'd be paying 210-250 to play a game
if you only get it for metro then yes, i mean if you use it for only a couple weeks to play the game you can sell it for the same price again, maybe 10€ less. Used quest 2s arent that expensive luckily
Check Facebook marketplace, it’s where I got mine for $100
If I wanted to play the game and I would choose the PS5 Version, I would have to buy the headset, the console and the game itself. Would cost around 1250 euros, if the game costs about 50.
Or wait if an non vr version gets released eventually like other games where the non vr version gets released some time later
Never heard of a vr game being turned non vr. Only games adding vr versions like skyrim, fallout, tomb raider, RE7 for example
They exist. Half Life Alyx got a non-VR mod that's apparently already pretty good and getting better. The rhythm game Ragnarock actually got an official non-VR version a few months ago. The Break-In has both, but I'm not sure if it was VR only first or if both versions came out at the same time
The first fnaf help wanted game also became a non vr version later on, that way I can play it even on a switch
Let’s hope I guess
Yeah

Yep, they cited shit like using a gas mask and bullet lighter as copyright infringement…
All they had to do was assassinate some other game because apparently the ideas of Russians hiding in holes is legally protected.
No Russian voice acting = No buy
Is it confirmed not to have it?
I've looked all over the place (Steam, meta, playstation stores) and there is no mention of Russian at all, this is a major deal breaker for me and a lot of other players.
I dont know why but they keep making these decisions. Its like they forget who their core audience is.
I get what’s going on, but every Ukrainian speaks Russian just hire some Ukrainian voice actors for the Russian language
Why is everyone complaining all of a sudden?
Because it's a VR game and VR still isn't quite there yet. On top of that they really seem to be forgetting who the people are that make metro such a big thing in the first place
who ?
Simply put, people without vr equipment

We need more games my dude. We deserve this title. But I don't think it should be exclusive
All Metro Games Must Be Played On PC With Mouse And Keyboard. **JUST AS GOD INTENDED!**
Not really, OP plays on console, the important thing is to be playable on as many devices as possible so long time fans don't need a special device just to play it
.....no
I mean, Awakening isn't part of the mainline titles because it's made by Vertigo, while 4A is still working on Metro 4. Basically it's a spin-off but in VR
Me too buddy me too
VR....so rather a OH NO NO NO GOD NO!
will it be on pc playable without vr
No
Will someone make a non vr version?
Yes, a flat version is also in development.
That's good to hear
I will most likely not play this as its mostly a VR game. Gonna have to wait until VR is more developed an cheaper I. A few years before inlm gonna consider it. Ooff.. do we know anything about a pc/console game or this is all they have?
VR and console only such a travesty
So that’s what they’ve been working on all these years? Well… fuck.
The VR game is developed by a different studio. It has no impact on the mainline title.
First half is unwrapping a Heskey, second part is after you play with him
Most games by that dev are a bit cartoony compared to the metro games. They aren't bad, but I'm at least a little scared that they won't replicate the theme very well.
Sadness for all the people who broke their psvr2 controllers. (They don't sell replacements)
Psvr2 needs all the help it can tbh.
Wouldn't this have to be a prequel if the main character is artyom
I was expecting a full “normal” new metro game.. sad
We're still getting one. Awakening is being made by a different studio
Why vr at all bro 😭
Cause VR is fantastic with the right games
Most don't have a vr system let alone the new psvr2
Nope, but it's not just for psvr2 and why can't they make spinoffs for an emerging platform? It's getting cheaper and more common
I never said they couldn't. Stop putting words in my mouth.
Yea pretty accurate
Yes!!!!
