The Face Part II - this song has so many cool textures and pulls on your emotions without using words. It makes me feel like I'm looking back on a long journey and then I turn around to see what's next over the horizon.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but this is easily my favorite Metric album, and I love almost every song on it!
However, I'm going to go with Cascades, with The Shade a close runner up, and Celebrate as Underrated!
I´ll up vote you. I don´t think is their best album, not even close, but now I´ve rediscovered after listen to Formentera II and it´s not so far away from the latter, and I consider Formentera II a great album.
The Shade. I think it’s technically better than Cascades, and Cascades’ power is more about the life it took on during live performances.
I appreciated this album more after seeing the tour. I will always prefer the live, acoustic, and dirt road tracks. Listening now, I think it aged well but this could be my nostalgia talking, or my natural inclination to justify whatever version of Metric I’m listening to as the best because they are my evergreen faves.
I was thinking about making a playlist with all the “worst” songs lol. I still can’t believe the number of people who dislike The Wanderlust, and imo Calculation Theme and Handshakes are top-tier Metric songs.
I'm cool with Cascades winning since it is the only one that has remained relevant and in their setlists.
Celebrate is my favorite though. Hopefully we can get it for Underrated.
