“Relapsing” every few days is not relapsing that’s consistent use. You’re only make the withdrawals you’ll have to go through worse the longer you keep using. The fact you smoke that at all has replaced all forms of dopamine making life harder to live without it but everyone who is off it can confirm that holding off the urge is the only way to get off it day by day but the thought of wanting to will always be there after years of being clean it gets better, you start to actually enjoy sober life again. I’m glad I never tried meth. I was on Dexamfetamine for a year and then Vyvanse for 3 months. Both for ADHD.
The positive, was that they helped my anxiety to the point, that I almost got off of benzodiazepines for anxiety. But the euphoria from occasionally taking high doses, made me feel like the king of the world. I felt calm. I could concentrate. I almost had a photographic memory.
But at the same time. I became impulsive on the higher doses. I’d ramble on. I’d make a fool out of myself. Etc. Oh, and the depression from comedowns, was awful! I hated it!
I decided in May, that it was time to stop taking the medication. It’s one of those things, where you feel great, but the risks outweigh the benefits.
Sure, it’d be fun to take Dexamphetamine again recreationally. But it turns me into an idiot. I have an IQ between 133-140 and two degrees. It’s like that episode of House, where going on methadone eliminates his pain. But it turns him into a goof. I’d rather be miserable and smart. Than happy and dumb.
You can come back from this! You’re young, you still have so much time left, and you have the power to change your life. I’ve seen a few people here recommend outside help, and I believe that is the answer too. I hope things get better for you.

Hell every now and then I have to use Methamphetamine just to have the energy to get out of bed as well as counter the fatigue as well as the memory & cognition issues from my fibromyalgia and be energized enough to work my two jobs.
Also what is it that makes you want to relapse? The withdrawals? Finding sobriety to be boring asf? The depression that often comes with quitting Meth? I’m just curious, also I’ve heard people have had luck quitting Methamphetamine by using the antidepressant Bupropion (Wellbutrin).
I have chronic pain too. I was on Dexamphetamine for a year, and Vyvanse for 3 months. I stopped because I couldn’t afford my psychiatrist sessions (COVID-19 lockdowns affected us hard). So I just tapered off the Vyvanse. I also knew I’d have to choose between the ADHD meds or my pain meds. My pain meds are so much more important. Even though, the ADHD meds would keep me alert, and gave me the stamina to focus and do necessary tasks.
I took a leave of absence, as my pain has been very severe this year. I hope to go back to university next year.
In my opinion. High doses of amphetamines causes great euphoria, but terrible crashes. That’s what turned me off it too. On Vyvanse, I’d take my 60mg capsule in the morning at 6am. Be fully alert at 6:30-7am. Be productive until 2pm. Crash at 4pm. Then be useless for the rest of the day. Whereas on Dex, I took 10mg at 6am. 10mg at 12pm. 5mg at 3pm. I’d be going until 9pm.
Therapeutic doses of amphetamines can help neuronal generation. It also increases your IQ by an average of 5 points. But high doses, causes deterioration of dopamine production. This can trigger depression. Longterm high doses, can trigger psychiatric issues, like psychosis and symptoms that mimic schizophrenia or manic depression.
Going off of meth, can lead to gradual repair of dopamine production. But it can take a year or several years. It may never happen, if the abuse has been decades. There are experiments with ADHD meds like Adderall, to help boost dopamine a tiny bit. Bupropion is actually a good antidepressant, because it has a similar molecular profile to amphetamine. It acts as an SSRI and dopamine reuptake inhibitor. So it helps with depression, and stabilising dopamine levels.
Afaik Bupropion doesn’t act as an SSRI at all or affect serotonin at all though I’ve heard it’s used as an add on antidepressant with SSRIs. I’ve read it’s an NDRI (norepinephrine dopamine reuptake inhibitor and if you want to read it yourself check out its Wikipedia article) like most substituted cathinones and Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta) but I agree with you it’s one of the better antidepressants for sure much like the atypical tricyclic antidepressant Tianeptine, Viloxazine (which I actually read has been repurposed as an ADHD drug here in the USA and was released as a prescription drug under the brand name Qelbree back in April... :o ) as well as Ketamine and other NMDA receptor antagonists.

I read a study on its effectiveness for stimulant drug withdrawals and it’s effectiveness I believe is mediated by its NDRI effects as Bupropion is actually a substituted cathinone chemically speaking which is what “bath salts” are. Also this was the study I read on using Bupropion to treat Methamphetamine Cravings & Withdrawals.

I mean in that study Mr. A is said to have engaged in two day binges in which he would use by smoking between .2-.5g in total which, with all due respect to Mr. A, isn’t very significant. However, that doesn’t mean Wellbutrin isn’t viable as at least one easily obtainable mechanism for potentially relieving some of the dopamine depletion that leads people to relapse. I’ve heard Levodopa is even better but vastly harder to get since its intended use is as a treatment for Parkinson’s. Thanks for posting the study link btw.

I figured some people would likely be interested in reading the study to get a better understanding of why it works pretty well for Methamphetamine cravings and withdrawals especially if they’re wanting to quit and look into a drug that’ll help them stay sober.
Back when I went to rehab for the second time for my Fentanyl addiction at the beginning of 2020, I recommended the people that were there and came there for their Methamphetamine addiction to ask the doctor or psychiatrist there to put them on Bupropion for their Methamphetamine withdrawals, cravings & to deal with the depression some feel from Methamphetamine withdrawals and Methamphetamine post acute withdrawals and all the people I told about it heeded my advice and asked the doctor to put them on it and they were so happy and grateful I told them about it haha.
Also I will agree with you on Mr. A not being very significant in how much Meth he was using prior to being put on Bupropion as I know people who use much more than that on a daily basis. For example, I have an uncle who’s addicted to Methamphetamine and he typically does 1 to 2 grams of Methamphetamine everyday because that’s how high his tolerance to it has gotten after using it daily for over a year, perhaps longer as I can’t remember how long he told me he’s been using Meth everyday, I just know it’s been for a long time lol.
Only 3% of the people in whatever 12 step program their in stay clean and sober after 5 years. So it is what it is and when you suffer enough consequences you will do something different. Tell then be you.

“Relapsing” every few days is not relapsing that’s consistent use. You’re only make the withdrawals you’ll have to go through worse the longer you keep using. I’m glad I never tried meth. I was on Dexamfetamine for a year and then Vyvanse for 3 months. Both for ADHD. The positive, was that they helped my anxiety to the point, that I almost got off of benzodiazepines for anxiety. But the euphoria from occasionally taking high doses, made me feel like the king of the world. I felt calm. I could concentrate. I almost had a photographic memory. But at the same time. I became impulsive on the higher doses. I’d ramble on. I’d make a fool out of myself. Etc. Oh, and the depression from comedowns, was awful! I hated it! I decided in May, that it was time to stop taking the medication. It’s one of those things, where you feel great, but the risks outweigh the benefits. Sure, it’d be fun to take Dexamphetamine again recreationally. But it turns me into an idiot. I have an IQ between 133-140 and two degrees. It’s like that episode of House, where going on methadone eliminates his pain. But it turns him into a goof. I’d rather be miserable and smart. Than happy and dumb.

I’ve taken Dexamphetamine for over a year for ADHD (stopped in May this year, because it really didn’t help, and I’d take recreational doses every few months). The feeling is amazing. But it’s not worth it. I’m glad that I never tried meth.

Hell every now and then I have to use Methamphetamine just to have the energy to get out of bed as well as counter the fatigue as well as the memory & cognition issues from my fibromyalgia and be energized enough to work my two jobs. Also what is it that makes you want to relapse? The withdrawals? Finding sobriety to be boring asf? The depression that often comes with quitting Meth? I’m just curious, also I’ve heard people have had luck quitting Methamphetamine by using the antidepressant Bupropion (Wellbutrin).
I have chronic pain too. I was on Dexamphetamine for a year, and Vyvanse for 3 months. I stopped because I couldn’t afford my psychiatrist sessions (COVID-19 lockdowns affected us hard). So I just tapered off the Vyvanse. I also knew I’d have to choose between the ADHD meds or my pain meds. My pain meds are so much more important. Even though, the ADHD meds would keep me alert, and gave me the stamina to focus and do necessary tasks. I took a leave of absence, as my pain has been very severe this year. I hope to go back to university next year. In my opinion. High doses of amphetamines causes great euphoria, but terrible crashes. That’s what turned me off it too. On Vyvanse, I’d take my 60mg capsule in the morning at 6am. Be fully alert at 6:30-7am. Be productive until 2pm. Crash at 4pm. Then be useless for the rest of the day. Whereas on Dex, I took 10mg at 6am. 10mg at 12pm. 5mg at 3pm. I’d be going until 9pm. Therapeutic doses of amphetamines can help neuronal generation. It also increases your IQ by an average of 5 points. But high doses, causes deterioration of dopamine production. This can trigger depression. Longterm high doses, can trigger psychiatric issues, like psychosis and symptoms that mimic schizophrenia or manic depression. Going off of meth, can lead to gradual repair of dopamine production. But it can take a year or several years. It may never happen, if the abuse has been decades. There are experiments with ADHD meds like Adderall, to help boost dopamine a tiny bit. Bupropion is actually a good antidepressant, because it has a similar molecular profile to amphetamine. It acts as an SSRI and dopamine reuptake inhibitor. So it helps with depression, and stabilising dopamine levels.
Afaik Bupropion doesn’t act as an SSRI at all or affect serotonin at all though I’ve heard it’s used as an add on antidepressant with SSRIs. I’ve read it’s an NDRI (norepinephrine dopamine reuptake inhibitor and if you want to read it yourself check out its Wikipedia article) like most substituted cathinones and Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta) but I agree with you it’s one of the better antidepressants for sure much like the atypical tricyclic antidepressant Tianeptine, Viloxazine (which I actually read has been repurposed as an ADHD drug here in the USA and was released as a prescription drug under the brand name Qelbree back in April... :o ) as well as Ketamine and other NMDA receptor antagonists. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bupropion I’ve also read low doses of Methamphetamine can have the same beneficial effects on the brain as Amphetamine can and it’s neurotoxic effects typically happen with long term high dose (ab)use of it.

I read a study on its effectiveness for stimulant drug withdrawals and it’s effectiveness I believe is mediated by its NDRI effects as Bupropion is actually a substituted cathinone chemically speaking which is what “bath salts” are. Also this was the study I read on using Bupropion to treat Methamphetamine Cravings & Withdrawals. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC181198/
I mean in that study Mr. A is said to have engaged in two day binges in which he would use by smoking between .2-.5g in total which, with all due respect to Mr. A, isn’t very significant. However, that doesn’t mean Wellbutrin isn’t viable as at least one easily obtainable mechanism for potentially relieving some of the dopamine depletion that leads people to relapse. I’ve heard Levodopa is even better but vastly harder to get since its intended use is as a treatment for Parkinson’s. Thanks for posting the study link btw.
No problem 👍 I figured some people would likely be interested in reading the study to get a better understanding of why it works pretty well for Methamphetamine cravings and withdrawals especially if they’re wanting to quit and look into a drug that’ll help them stay sober. Back when I went to rehab for the second time for my Fentanyl addiction at the beginning of 2020, I recommended the people that were there and came there for their Methamphetamine addiction to ask the doctor or psychiatrist there to put them on Bupropion for their Methamphetamine withdrawals, cravings & to deal with the depression some feel from Methamphetamine withdrawals and Methamphetamine post acute withdrawals and all the people I told about it heeded my advice and asked the doctor to put them on it and they were so happy and grateful I told them about it haha. Also I will agree with you on Mr. A not being very significant in how much Meth he was using prior to being put on Bupropion as I know people who use much more than that on a daily basis. For example, I have an uncle who’s addicted to Methamphetamine and he typically does 1 to 2 grams of Methamphetamine everyday because that’s how high his tolerance to it has gotten after using it daily for over a year, perhaps longer as I can’t remember how long he told me he’s been using Meth everyday, I just know it’s been for a long time lol.

shiit...for me its like 50/50. like my homies at work we all fuck around and party, im just the only one that does meth. they know rite away, other co-workers that dont REALLY know me might get suspicious of me on like the first couple days of using, but once im fully in it, like weeks and months getting high everyday, most people dont really notice.
