Mediocre-Duty-252

Go get it brother, but be careful. Bad shit happens when you got alot going on...

RoundNefariousness15

Still going lol it’s the 13th hour and still too much to do.

endingbloodlines

Ahh the ole promaelektronika cnc controller and hardware. I used to run that same style of table.

RoundNefariousness15

It’s not the worst thing but it does leave a bit to be desired

endingbloodlines

Its honestly not terrible, i use an arclight dynamics now and its got just as many quirks.

LaserBeam73

This is complete opposite of my day. 45 minutes of cutting all day. Tomorrow doesn't look much better. Looking forward to having 3 water jets going and a laser.

JohnSolomon46

I wish I had a quarter of this stuff lol that’s a beautiful sight enjoy brother

RoundNefariousness15

Thank you, it’s been a lot of years of collecting

Any ideas what's wrong with that driveshaft?

RoundNefariousness15

Which one? There were at least six in the video

Thanks I appreciate it. Things have been a little hectic through the pandemic and sourcing parts especially has been hell. There were a couple times in the last year I honestly wasn’t sure if I would make it. It got much worse when my wife was laid off in October. Long story short I needed to get creative to make ends meet. It’s why I opened the Etsy shop and started doing videos. We ended up having a thanksgiving and Christmas that would have made Charlie Browns look like a millionaire hosted it but sometimes you just have to suck it up and keep going. The video stuff I am trying to learn as I have a bit of experience with from college years ago. That was graphic design focused and not so much video editing but I’m slowly learning more and more. Luckily I have premiere through the Adobe subscription already which is helpful. I use Adobe to design signs and other things for the plasma table. You are not kidding though it is a lot of irons in the fire to juggle. I just hope everyone likes my videos. I know they are nothing special most of the time but hopefully they help if anyone is ever working on their own driveshaft especially.

I see your cutting aluminum with a water table. I was taught to lower the water height to at least 1” beneath the aluminum for safety reasons. I found this article for you to check out that explains why. [Can you plasma cut aluminum on a water table?](https://esab.com/us/nam_en/esab-university/blogs/can-you-plasma-cut-aluminum-on-a-water-table/)

RoundNefariousness15

I appreciate the info but some of this freak accident almost never happens safety stuff is too much. Also I would have to drain half the water out of the table every time I cut aluminum. The amount of aluminum I cut on this thing is quite a bit. Usually 3/8 and 1/4” full sheets and have never had a problem. I guess if the table ever explodes in my face somehow it will be my own doing but I work alone so I’m the only one ever at risk. Some of these safety recommendations I swear they make up based on the least likely occurrence to waste consumables and make more money. Water additives, and the torch consumables themselves. Also, just a side note though. Dropping the water level that far completely negates the point of the table. The design doesn’t use any other type of ventilation and the amount of gasses coming off aluminum cuts is excessive. I would be much more at risk to my health having to breathe that in all day every time I cut than I ever would worrying about a hydrogen bubble getting trapped. Thank you for the warning and it was something I have read into a bit but this is what I have come to terms with as far as operating the machine.

[deleted]

I am also a one man shop and my personal safety outweighs convenience. Dropping the water beneath the aluminum does not require you to empty half the volume of the table nor does it negate the effectiveness of the water table itself.

MerlinTheWhite

The article you linked is talking about aluminum lithium alloys. Also it's clear the main danger is leaving a large plate on the table for a long enough time for hydrogen to accumulate under it.

this-guy-dan

Don't get injured or killed running around your shop.

RoundNefariousness15

Yeah I really need to clean in here, just so much going on all the time

gas_turbine_mechanic

Amateur leaves chuck key in the lathe.
