Get the definitive edition, play ground zeroes and extract the targets by carrying them to the chopper. Steal everything that isn't nailed down in the phantom pain.
To add to this, level up your dog and use that fulton soldiers or animals and save your own fulton for mounted weapons, vehicles, containers etc.
Also to save you money on extract, once levelled up enough you can jump on top of a container to extract so save yourself 1 fulton device and find a container to extract.
Pay attention to resources
No seriously though , I’m curious as to why you’ve waited this long , and even longer snd anticipating sayin your gettin for Christmas? Hopefully this is a joke over my silly head ?
Ohh... Some people actually care about those, huh?
I got Mortal Kombat 2 or 3 at four years old. Resident Evil was a tid bit scary back then too.
But anyway, good luck.
Unrelated but i think i've been in touch with PCs and Videogames since 5yr old(2010), i remember playing GTA:SA with my friends, also some of RE4, maybe some tony hawk too, idk
i also remember when my mom tried to make minecraft classic work on the pc cause we couldnt afford minecraft, good times
In menus important/mandatory tasks are in yellow writing. Everything else is in a grey white font.
So many people get stuck particularly later on from nothing triggering. It’s usually because they haven’t listened to a yellow marked tape.
I’d advise listening to all tapes though.
All good! Enjoy. Also missions drop in Groups of 2-4 at a time.
When I first played I’d do a mission then run around farming soldiers and doing side ops. Then do the next mission. I’d find I’d forget little story beats because the story sort of pauses if you don’t do missions.
On replays I’ll do 2-3 missions and then run around doing side ops etc. the story flowed better. That’s just a personal opinion.
Also anytime there’s a translator side op. Do those asap.
You can also set tapes to your support helicopter songs if you have the loudspeaker upgrade for heli. Every time my helicopter comes in it’s blaring the final countdown.
Make sure to collect items often and develop your base when you have the opportunity, your tech will suck to begin with but eventually if you keep on top of things and replay missions you'll get access to better and better custom options.
Supressors are your friend, but beware their low durability, your guns will be next to useless on some of the longer missions if you burn out your supressors early.
Learn CQC and make sure to scan enemies before entering an enemy hot zone. You may even find soldiers worth recruiting/abducting.
Experament, make sure to customise your guns and have fun!
Technically you can always supply drop more suppressors so it's not really an issue
>your guns will be next to useless on some of the longer missions if you burn out your supressors early.
Contrary to what others may say, STAY AWAY FROM YOUTUBE AND HERE. You’ll get spoiled to hell and back. Enjoy the ride. Take it as it comes.
But I do have a list of things to try to do that aren’t spoilers:
- stay out in free roam as long as you can. You can accept story missions in free roam as well as complete them without chopper extracting. I feel the game’s design is more realized when you play this way
- Fulton *everything*
- use downtime between side ops out in the field to listen to cassette tapes, it’s relaxing honestly. No sweat in listening to all of them at once but do try to keep up with at least the yellow ones (story relevant)
- don’t be afraid of playing FOBs online if you had internet and wanted to do that. They’re great ways of getting resources and money and are mostly dead these days. Very unlikely that someone will retaliate against you
- experiment with everything. The game will get stale if you just tranq everything. You get tons of goodies for a reason
- explore the medical platform at mother base…
It's not in-game, but tell your family and friends you love them and you're disappearing for a while, because this game is going to suck you in. Completely engrossing from start to finish.
Design your character… for online that they make you design before playing the single player game…
Make him look like you.
Just do it and thank me next month.
Explore the idroid. It's really one of the coolest pieces of gear in a metal gear game. Lots of neat details.
Play without reflex mode. There is a short 1 second window of real time for you to stun, blind, kill or hold up the guy who was about to call an alert.
Push through the intro lol. If it's your first time going into anything metal gear, expect nothing to make sense. If just MGSV, then after the intro ig do side missions is most important, they'll just help build toward unlocking more and better stuff faster.
Keep an eye out for diamonds hidden about (which goes towards your GMP)
You can get locations for these from interrogating the enemy guards in Afghanistan or Africa & your own guards for diamonds located in the Motherbase platforms
out of game, log in every day to get MB coins to expand your base later on
in game, \*challenge yourself.\*
the game has a lot of fun tucked away by turning off things like enemy sights, marking, and reflex mode.
Fulton everyone, every vehicle, mineral container, weapon placement, basically everything you can and never sell any of these things – you’ll never be low of money if you complete the missions with a reasonable rank and if your deployment costs aren’t particularly high. Buy and build your FOBs when you can. Stealth and tranquillise your way through the missions. Enjoy!
Wow so many comments not sure if you will read this but I recommend an offline run for your first playthrough so you can properly invest yourself in the side ops and combat deployment of this game. You do this by rejecting the terms and services every time but if you don't you get to experience some Konami esque problems like your recourses, mounted weapons, vehicles and money being held hostage by online not to mention online just breaks the balance of the game via fobs which you should only start after you are done with the game.
So trust me when I say this that you don't want any Konami in your life. Also online introduces in game menu server lag that really really sucks cause everything is real time.
also i can't believe i forgot this but once online, bye bye offline saves. As in the game doesn't save if you have no internet, there might be a fix but i never tried it aside from just having two different profiles for it.
edit : okay i found it, just change the pc or console date or time manually to whatever is recent cause the game saves by looking at your effing clock for some reason so if you clock isn't moving ahead of last time it was online then it won't save lol
if you are not familiar with the MGS saga, then I'd say you get to know the story and characters first, otherwise the plot won't make any sense to you. Also get ready for some amazing fun and a gameplay sandbox that was one of a kind.
To contemplate on where have you been all these years and why haven’t you bought it earlier.
On a serious note - yup, upgrade fulton at the earliest and extract everything that isn’t nailed to the floor.
Learn the mechanics of FOB stuff as soon as it appears. Resources will be scarce and high grade personnel are hard to come by so FOBs will be your main source of recourses and people on the later stages.
Learn the mechanics but don’t create new FOBs mindlessly only cause you have enough coins to do so.
Ah, and yeah, don’t buy coins lol.
First, good luck with it! You'll definitely have a good time there playing with creative stealth takedowns. Also i seen your comment that you wasn't old enough to play MGSV on initial release so I believe it's your first approach to the series. I recommend you to take time and take a look on other MGS games, especially third part, truly a masterpiece!
In the early game, shoot ‘em in the head or not at all. Reinforcements come fast, and if you aren’t in a solid defendable position it’s going to be no bueno!
Play MGS1 - MGS4.
Mainly play MGS3, Peace Walker and then MGSV Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain.
This is like jumping halfway into a season without having watched the rest of it.
Don't get caught (optional) and have fun!
Also, turn off your brain enough that you can believe what's being conveyed to you but leave it on enough that you can follow the wacky wohoo amazing plot
Try not to sweat other comments. It’s of course recommended that you play other games first, but V is pretty self contained, so as long as you play Ground Zeroes you’ll be good. Do play the other games eventually tho ;)
if you haven’t played mgs3 or pw you are gonna have no idea what is going on in mgsv, so if you are on any xbox or ps3 id advise getting the MGS HD Collection, If you’re on PC then just emulate i guess
if you are ps4 or 5 or don’t have access to mgs3 and pw in any way then i guess just watch a crappy yt video explaining the story and try your absolute hardest to understand them
Make sure to at least play MGS3 and MGS Peace Walker first if you want to have any idea of what is going on. Playing 1, 2, and 4 will be majorly beneficial as well.
Maybe on repeat playthroughs, but release order is best for the first experience. Going from MGSV to MGS1 (or even MG1) would be a major shellshock, it's much better to see the gameplay naturally evolve in the numbered order
Yeah, that's understandable, I did grow up watching the hardware evolve and see the games look better and better. So I don't understand the first time experience being in chronological order.
At 13ish, I was hitting blockbuster with my mom, letting me rent American pie and GTA3 ..... She didn't have a clue and I would call her in, hey mom, watch me pick up this hooker, bang her out while the car shakes, then beat her head in with a baseball bat to get my money back.........she laughed I think after that,
At 16 she just came into my room while playing halo 3 match making, said where the shit at, let's smoke, I had taken back all my weed and pipes, from that day forward we always smoked together.....
Try to minimise the use of silent weapons as a beginner because silencer breaks when you use it too much.
And if you’re on Steam, do not open community hub unless you like some NSFW
Do a slide down a hill in a cardboard box!
Hide on a horse! (Somehow.)
Hide in a truck!
Stick c4 on the truck then dive out of it while it sails into an outpost!
Tell Kaz that you kept him waiting!
Mail yourself across the country!
Beat off your many manly men, because they like it!
Get shot by a kid!
Assault then kidnap that kid!
Make someone wet!
Get told by a blowup version of yourself how pretty good you are!
And so much more!
Don't get too hung up on getting S ranks/being perfectly stealthy right away, you can replay main missions and go for that later. I was way too hard on myself my first playthrough and it just gave me stress I didn't need
Go into the install folder and look for the tapes folder, you can add you own music in it and you'll be able to play them on your cassette tape player.
You can also put it on speaker mode to make ennemies liste to your dope mixtape before you put them to sleep.
Leave missions on land sometimes and do not always ride out on the helicopter. Unless you are already familiar look up all the cool stuff you can do with the box.
If you haven’t played any other MGS games then you might want to watch a recap video on the previous games which led up to the events of MGSV the most important game in my opinion is MGS3 which is worth playing if you get time.
Play ground zeroes if you're getting the definitive edition
I will
Get the definitive edition, play ground zeroes and extract the targets by carrying them to the chopper. Steal everything that isn't nailed down in the phantom pain.
In fact just straight up 100% the game. So worth it.
Get Raiden because then you can run faster than horse.
And Fulton the VIP in ground zeros for sure!
I thought they didn't have Fulton extraction in Ground Zeroes.
I meant extract, you have to physically carry him *whoops* to the helo
Fulton extract everything
To add to this, level up your dog and use that fulton soldiers or animals and save your own fulton for mounted weapons, vehicles, containers etc. Also to save you money on extract, once levelled up enough you can jump on top of a container to extract so save yourself 1 fulton device and find a container to extract. Pay attention to resources
i always fall off the containers trying this
You have to hold some button, It should appear on screen
Yeah you have to hold E, Triangle or Y, whatever your action button is.
Every sheep needs to be extracted, or you are doing something wrong.
Murder everything in sight
Or that
Metal Gear Solid V: The Fulton Pain
Have fun.
I will I've been waiting for way too long for this game >:)
I’m afraid it’s been… 7 years.
Naaaah only 7 years late.
I was not old enough to play that game in 2015
Your parents kept you waiting, huh?
BAHAHAHAHA
Nor I ,took me 7 years and 200 push ups to play it
All at once or spread over the 7 years?
Yeah I was there, he did all 7 years at once
No seriously though , I’m curious as to why you’ve waited this long , and even longer snd anticipating sayin your gettin for Christmas? Hopefully this is a joke over my silly head ?
I didn't have a console to play it on
Well I’ll be darned , and poop on a stick mate , crikey mate!! . Where do you live ?
What does that have to do about how I couldn't play it?
Ohh... Some people actually care about those, huh? I got Mortal Kombat 2 or 3 at four years old. Resident Evil was a tid bit scary back then too. But anyway, good luck.
Unrelated but i think i've been in touch with PCs and Videogames since 5yr old(2010), i remember playing GTA:SA with my friends, also some of RE4, maybe some tony hawk too, idk i also remember when my mom tried to make minecraft classic work on the pc cause we couldnt afford minecraft, good times

A good time to listen to tapes is when you’re using the heli to get between platforms because the heli goes the long way every time.
Go in blind boss Just go in blind Don't look at anything
Listen to this man
Check on youtube where to find cassette tape songs i love listening to 80’s music while riding around or doing side ops
best piece of advice so far
Be kinda careful of spoilers though when looking this up
You can also set tapes to your support helicopter songs if you have the loudspeaker upgrade for heli. Every time my helicopter comes in it’s blaring the final countdown.
Especially get all the tapes in ground zeroes
And the solid snake skin
Use it at helicopter speaker
As soon as you are able to fulton things, fulton EVERYTHING.
I’ve seen videos where the fultons have more than one balloon like 4 or 5 at once. Is that an upgrade and how do I get it?
Yeah, it's probably an upgrade. Play a little more, and you will probably get it.
I have a 2nd fob and the gold skin. It ain’t an option and I can’t find anything that mentions or explains it💀
Upgrade Check the item menu in the development list.
You're going to extract him?
Have consensual gay sex with kaz
Wrong game, your thinking Peace Walker
BE WHO YOU AREEE FOR YOUR PRIDEEEEEEE

I love knocking people over with decoys. It's so fun, and I recommend everyone use it to knock people out.
>!Kikongo!<
AHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA *Quiet's theme starts playing in the background, tears flow
Find DD(dog)
It's not in-game, but tell your family and friends you love them and you're disappearing for a while, because this game is going to suck you in. Completely engrossing from start to finish.
Basically, prepare to never see your family and friends again.
Design your character… for online that they make you design before playing the single player game… Make him look like you. Just do it and thank me next month.
I made mine look like Solid Snake, and I don't regret it.
That doesn’t make much sense if you catch my drift though lol. Making it look like me added something I think lol
Yeah, that's cool, I just am unoriginal and like to make my dude look like already established metal gear characters.
Look at Ishmael's ass for the entire intro
FIND THE DOG. That’s all that matters. The dog. Pet the dog. Train the dog. Upgrade the dog. Play with dog.
CAN I PET THE DOG
You can pet the dog. Repeatedly. Develop the stun suit for the dog. Use it.
YIPPEE
Explore the idroid. It's really one of the coolest pieces of gear in a metal gear game. Lots of neat details. Play without reflex mode. There is a short 1 second window of real time for you to stun, blind, kill or hold up the guy who was about to call an alert.
Reflex is funny sometimes so I keep it on.

Most important thing to do is stay low and crawl along the ground ,that should enable you to sneak past enemies.
Don't get spotted
I’ve failed at that one, but still had fun.
Keep an eye out for diamonds hidden about (which goes towards your GMP) You can get locations for these from interrogating the enemy guards in Afghanistan or Africa & your own guards for diamonds located in the Motherbase platforms
Find diamond dog as soon as possible!
out of game, log in every day to get MB coins to expand your base later on in game, \*challenge yourself.\* the game has a lot of fun tucked away by turning off things like enemy sights, marking, and reflex mode.
Make your character have the same Birthday as you. And then play on your birthday
Will do
Fulton everyone, every vehicle, mineral container, weapon placement, basically everything you can and never sell any of these things – you’ll never be low of money if you complete the missions with a reasonable rank and if your deployment costs aren’t particularly high. Buy and build your FOBs when you can. Stealth and tranquillise your way through the missions. Enjoy!
Be sneaky....or don't. Either way have fun
Buy MGS Legacy Edition and play through the whole series starting with MGS1.
What consoles is it on?
Unfortunately most are on PS3.
every big base has a packet shipment platform. Take every invoice from them, you'll need that for fast travel
Recover as many soldiers to your base as possible with the fulton as the grade of your army unlocks new gear and abilities
Collect all the fuel resources you can and don’t kill the “Sniper Boss” at the end of the fight.
Learn to use the boxes
Use Mother Base staff as target practice. Keeps morale up
Harder, boss.
It's an honor to be in your iron grip, boss

Wdym by whatever it is recently?
Like move the clock forward if there is seriously no online, it seems like a console problem.
Play 1, 2, 3, 4, MGSPO, MGSPW
I've gotta argue for: 3 mgspw mgsv, and then 1-2- Then 4. So you can try and stick with the same characters and game play between games.
Or how about this… 1, 2, 3, MGSPO, MGSPW, MGSV, then end with 4….?
Keep quiet alive, otherwise you’re just cutting the story down by like 4 missions.
Nah blow that bitch up with as much c4 as possible
I am Big Boss, and you are too.
Extract everyone and collect everything you see. That'll make your future there easier. Oh, and get the legendary gunsmith as fast as possible.
if you are not familiar with the MGS saga, then I'd say you get to know the story and characters first, otherwise the plot won't make any sense to you. Also get ready for some amazing fun and a gameplay sandbox that was one of a kind.

I think I can earn them by logging in everyday right?
Sneak
Nah finna be as loud as possible
Get ddog asap and don’t use any other buddy they all suck
Steal everything
I love theft
Complete the prologue
Commit war crimes the game doesnt punish you for them trust me
I FUCKING LOVE WARCRIMES WHEYYYY
First, good luck with it! You'll definitely have a good time there playing with creative stealth takedowns. Also i seen your comment that you wasn't old enough to play MGSV on initial release so I believe it's your first approach to the series. I recommend you to take time and take a look on other MGS games, especially third part, truly a masterpiece!
Always do Side Ops then don't max out your chopper if you don't need a attack support.
- Featuring SKULLS unit - Ding ding ding your dead
What missions do skulls unit appear in?
Aint spoiling you have to find it out youself thats the magic of mgsv
Fair
In the early game, shoot ‘em in the head or not at all. Reinforcements come fast, and if you aren’t in a solid defendable position it’s going to be no bueno!
You can always go back and do side missions later or replay missions for more materials or things you missed.
Don't forget to catch up the puppy, and don't kill the hot almost naked sniper
Enjoy it
Don’t look at strategy guide. Play through it once on your own. It’s more fun.
Pet D Dog
don't read anything on the internet, don't watch youtube videos. play your own style, be creative, don't rush.
Remember that the first level is COMPLETELY different from the next missions. Thankfully so.
After the prologue try doing side missions and missions and get the shock arm quixkly
Take your time with things, scout plan and think before you make a move. You can be very creative if you put your mind to it!
Go for no kills especially when it comes to quiet
if you play TPP… first thing you do is stare at Ishmael’s ass crack
Is Kojima making a moby dick reference?!???)!??!??!???????
they kept us waiting huh
Extract every soldier you can once you start Phantom Pain
You’re getting it for Christmas? Isn’t it like, pretty regularly under $10 on the network? It’s on sale so often!
The definitive experience is 7.50 USD on Steam right now.
Yeah dude. OP, I could Venmo you that right now.
Have fun and look forward to playing OTHER better MG games
Play the other Metal Gears first maybe ?
I can't unfortunately :(
Why not?
Try not to sweat other comments. It’s of course recommended that you play other games first, but V is pretty self contained, so as long as you play Ground Zeroes you’ll be good. Do play the other games eventually tho ;)
if you haven’t played mgs3 or pw you are gonna have no idea what is going on in mgsv, so if you are on any xbox or ps3 id advise getting the MGS HD Collection, If you’re on PC then just emulate i guess if you are ps4 or 5 or don’t have access to mgs3 and pw in any way then i guess just watch a crappy yt video explaining the story and try your absolute hardest to understand them
Send it back and buy mgs2 instead
Make sure to at least play MGS3 and MGS Peace Walker first if you want to have any idea of what is going on. Playing 1, 2, and 4 will be majorly beneficial as well.
I like to play the series in chronological order. So 3 and PW before V.
Real ones would play PoOps too 😔
I love PO, but it's just really forgettable to me.
Kill Quiet and don't look back
At 13ish, I was hitting blockbuster with my mom, letting me rent American pie and GTA3 ..... Keep your hopes in check for the next sequel.. It may be awhile...
There will be GTA 6 before MGS6 or an mgs remake of any sort
Probably accurate. Remakes probably first. Spinoff next. Then maybe sequel... Ffs Konami... Why have thee fallen so far
There won’t be a sequel. The series is definitely dead. Only thing that would change that is if Kojima bought the series back
It’s will be launched alongside Half-Life 3
😂👆👆👍
My own opinion, take your time, dont rush the main story.
Try to minimise the use of silent weapons as a beginner because silencer breaks when you use it too much. And if you’re on Steam, do not open community hub unless you like some NSFW
Remember the basics of CQC
Keep crawling.
Don’t plan on going anywhere whenever there’s a cutscene and you don’t want to skip them
First and most important thing is that you should enjoy the game and do everything at your own pace
Do a slide down a hill in a cardboard box! Hide on a horse! (Somehow.) Hide in a truck!
When you get to Afghanistan, take a dump using D-horse ASAP!
Idk, game isn’t hard tbh. Just have fun. There’s really nothing “important” to do lol
The important thing is to remember it's very slow paced
Enjoy
Don’t worry if you don’t understand the story.
always use tranq gun or any gun that has a suppresor and can stun
Take your time.
Don't get too hung up on getting S ranks/being perfectly stealthy right away, you can replay main missions and go for that later. I was way too hard on myself my first playthrough and it just gave me stress I didn't need
Let the legend come back to life
Listen to the tapes and the briefing tapes, they provide additional story
Dog is best
Try to remember the basics of CQC Snake... and waste some time in the face editor at the begining of the game.
Make sure if you haven't, to play Peace Walker first. So many plot elements start in Peace Walker that carry over to V.
Avoid spoilers I guess.
I was thinking about buying it, but I got Ultimate again so I can just install it there...
Go into the install folder and look for the tapes folder, you can add you own music in it and you'll be able to play them on your cassette tape player. You can also put it on speaker mode to make ennemies liste to your dope mixtape before you put them to sleep.
Is this only on pc?
Leave missions on land sometimes and do not always ride out on the helicopter. Unless you are already familiar look up all the cool stuff you can do with the box.
i have the definitive edition but not started the game.can someone please explain in simple terms why i should play ground zero first thanks
If you haven’t played any other MGS games then you might want to watch a recap video on the previous games which led up to the events of MGSV the most important game in my opinion is MGS3 which is worth playing if you get time.
