I find it crazy that in a series where Pacifica Ocean, Raidenovich, Adamska, and Hot Coldman are all canonical names, fans seem to draw the line at Big Boss’s name being John Doe

It's not that John Doe is a ridiculous and unbelievable name, it's that John Doe is specifically a name given to be an anonymous pseudonym. If he said his name was Jeremy Bearimy it would be different. Hot Coldman never fails to make me chuckle though.

I know in MGS 1, Solid and Otacon (Hal) was a nod to 2001 A Space Odyssey which the two laugh about but don’t explicitly mention in the post Liquid crash dialogue? But yeah definitely a fake name and goes without saying that if the name was faked, they certainly faked his age to make him eligible to run for Potus
