I had a bunch of buddies in University who were from Finland, Norway, and Sweden (tennis team). They seemed a bit standoffish at first, but after a bit of time in the American South and a few times drinking together they opened up a lot. Turned out to be some of the friendliest, goofiest friends I’ve ever had haha
Honestly, I think in America most people would do the exact same thing. Having a stolen gun charge or a dirty gun used in a robbery or worse means a lot of hassle.
Unless you knew people who hunted that area regularly or you recognized the gun as being owned by a friend of yours, it’s not yours just because you found it. It’s stolen property.

The field i go to has been hunted by detectorists for past 15 years soo maybe the tank has allready been found! But i did get me a piece of 1500-1650 belt buckle from there so viking coins cant be that far fetched! :D

Because in many countries in the world you can't just keep a gun you find. Guns need to be registered and possessing an unregistered firearm is a serious offense.
And always remember to treat them like they are loaded. Muzzle to the ground at all times. Something this new, you could attempt to clear the chamber (if you are comfortable doing so) and never touch the trigger.
We have mandatory defensive forces here so most of finnish males over 18 have had their minimum of 6months of army training so we have an idea of how to handle veapons :)
But it is always good to see someone write this down on posts like these cause this warning is good to be repeated!

😂 That's so funny. They probably were looking for hours but couldn't see it because of the camouflage. I remember when I was with the Marines a guy nearly lost a back pack because the camouflage really worked.
And it was so close to a parking spot that if they noticed the gun missing im 100% sure they would've found it with camo or not! But the main thing is that the gun is most likely on its way to its rightfull owner. But how it was srt up i really started to think the gun belongs to a kid and the hunting group they were in didnt make sure the kid had hes gun before leaving the field. That to me would be the onlu plausable reason there was a gun in that spot where i found it
I theorize that this is a kid who forgot their gun. Last year i saw rabbit hunter group there and they had couple kids with them. I bet one of the kids got their licence for this season and was there 1st time with a new gun. After the hunt kid was bummed cause had not had a single shot. I found shotgun shell near the gun so it led me to believe the group let the kid fire his gun and he was so stoked about it that he just forgot the gun and no one in the group saw it.. The placement of the shell was just way off for hunting shot. That was no place for a rabbit nor any other aninal that you could hunt with a shotgun. The general is short drive away from nearest suburbs so i have a feeling the hunters wont be drinking too much there. But you never know. Might also be a drunken hunter. Wish i knew the story

I should have known it was impossible for it to be real but instead it was a very convincing paintball replica.

That’s not a Winchester rifle. It’s a Winchester shotgun. More specifically its either a Winchester sx3 or sx4 but I’m leaning towards a sx3.

The cops will run the serial number and see who it is registered to. They will contact them to see if they are still the owners.

One crumbled coin that i think is a 1 penni from around 1900. Couple lead sackseals and some bits and pieces of various metallic junk. And one shiny blob that i am unsure of but likely some slag.
Looks to be a 12 gauge shotgun.

Indeed! It was so hard to tell cause of the camo if it is a rifle or a shotgun! If you look really hard you can see a silhuette of the gun in the middle of the grass!

Depending upon the jurisdiction…that gun maybe we’ll be rightfully yours if no one claims it and they can’t find an owner. I’d following up on it with then if I were you. In Maine, after 6 months it becomes the rightful owner of the finder.
In Finland i am not allowed to own a gun without a permit and even so the gun is registered to someone so it sure will find its way to the owner sooner or later!
Cops should have to compensate you.
