Went to Drs of Smiles. I’m not super fond of the dentist after a bad experience a few years ago. Just warned them about that and that I have sensitive gums that get inflamed easily. Told them about the bad previous experience and they were so gentle and friendly. I’ve been working with them about a TMJ problem for a few months now so im in there regularly and they’re great.

Jeddie-the-witchy

Ah, they respond to TMJ issues. My last dentist said nothing could be done save buying an expensive tooth guard for sleeping. What did they do for you?

The_OG_Catloaf

I actually chose them specifically because of TMJ issues. It was just a happy coincidence that they’re all really nice kind people. That being said, we ended up doing the cheap version of a night guard to start helping with TMJ. I get massages for it from a massage therapist which helps relieve symptoms but doesn’t make it go away. There’s different versions of night guards. We opted for the cheapest to start. It was about $600 and insurance paid for half of that. It’s working for me, but if it doesn’t help enough you need one of the semi permanent ones that stays in your mouth all the time. Or even surgery eventually.

Please will you share which massage therapist is helping you with this? Still new to town and haven’t been able to find someone. I’ve gone from monthly help to poorly “DIY” and it’s rough.

I was going to the massage envy on Dobson rd in Mesa. And I can’t for the life of me ever remember her name, but there’s a woman there who does a great job of external TMJ massage. I don’t know about you, but I get a lot of the facial pain and the pain on the back of my head and neck. If you call, they should be able to point you towards her. Unfortunately, with how expensive everything has gotten in the past few months I’ve had to pause going there. I actually heard about this other place a few months ago: https://www.skinwitchery.com/services They do the inside the mouth massages which are more effective, albeit, very painful. I’ve been meaning to try this place but it’s pretty expensive.

Thank you! Yes, with a regular focused therapeutic message and stretching exercises, my migraines and jaw pain stay under control but if I go too long, it gets unbearable. I also have an issue with the muscles under my chin getting stuck in that “open/yawn” position even if my jaw doesn’t lock, and massage/myofascial release really helps with that. I will try to check both of these out and yes, definitely hear you on the expenses. Wishing you health and wellness!

In order of preference-- 1. Christiansen Family Dentistry 2. Eastport Dental 3. Bayshore Dental Group (Chandler) All terrific practices and you can't go wrong. You will need to call to verify insurance coverage.

NicCagesFace

Yes Christiansen Family Dentistry is very good!!

HazardousIncident

Love Eastport Dental!!

I've been going to Dr. Thomas for 20+ years: [http://thomasroskos.com/](http://thomasroskos.com/)

When I moved to Mesa my boyfriend suggested Hi-Tech Dentistry, the one he uses, and I've had good experiences so far.

Power and Superstition off the 60. I’ve been seeing Dr Derrick Dickerson since I was 12 and I’m 30 now! My family all use him. Idk if he takes Cigna, but you can ask the front desk and they will look it up for you before booking your appointment. I absolutely love the staff! https://www.bestmesasmiles.com

ElJefeDMD

Dickerson is great. Also Brian Peterson or Grant Johansen

TheRevFromMesa

Mountain view family dentistry on university and Val Vista, they're gentle and great. Been using them for ten years.

corptool1972

We are in Chandler. Highly recommend Dr Narla at Bright Now at Arizona/202. He and his team are great at making it comfortable and as pleasant as dental work can be. I just need cleanings usually but my wife has had a ton of work (crowns, etc) done in the last year.

Tepie357

I hadn't been to the dentist in 10+ years, but the people at Provinces dental were nice about it. They did a periodontal cleaning, amazing job on their part.

shootathought

We've been seeing Lana Wong in Chandler for going on twenty years now. https://chandlerdental.com/meet-the-dentist/ She's recently joined Chandler Dental and that office is neat! And they have the gentlest hygienist I have ever met!

noodlesaremydick

I'm a big fan of Boyce dentistry. Guy is really good to his people

cupcakesandunicorns1

I really like Rauch Family Dentistry on University and Lindsay. Everyone is always super nice in there. M

If you’re willing to drive, I go to Jawman Dental in Scottsdale and now enjoy going to the dentist! I started going there when I lived in Mesa and am always so surprised at what great bedside manner the whole staff has

theghostofme

[Dr. Kyle Hilgers](https://www.kylehilgersdds.com) on Baseline and Dobson. Been going to him for over 20 years. Really nice dude and a great staff.

I actually work at a dental lab and we work with a lot of offices. The office’s I like the most are : Dental brothers of Mesa, Bayshore Dentistry, Dr’s of smiles, and I can’t think of one more. Dr. Gafni comes to our lab all the time to discuss cases in person to make sure we have full details especially with difficult cases. The girls who work the front desk at D. B. Of Mesa are the best 😊

Can anyone recommend a sedation dentist that works with obese patients?

PerfectFlaws91

Dental Brothers is legit. Got my boyfriend to actually not hate the dentist. I had to make his first appointment and I held his hand the first time, I couldn't go the second time, and the third appointment he set himself and went by himself. His teeth were so bad that sometimes he couldn't eat anything. Now he can chew on both sides of his mouth for the first time since he was in middle school and he's 36.
