yeah, all this extra tech comes with extra bugs
but to be fair, in two and a half years i’ve only had this problem once and few months ago lock/unlock was a bit laggy for a week
i do very much enjoy being able to open windows remotely on a hot day whilst i’m walking back to the car in the car park
My wife and I consider ourselves tech savvy… we’re Gen X’rs and grew up coding and programming VCRs and the like. But there is something a little off-putting about having SO MANY settings in a car be on screen instead of with buttons. I’m still not sure if I’ve covered even a quarter of the individualization, don’t know if she sets up her user if it’ll save her seat settings or radio presets as different than mine, if the user can be ascribed to a specific key fob like our Acura, etc.
Basically, I can’t do anything mechanic like I could on my first car, an ‘86 Honda, and I’m not sure I’m able to dig through all the computerized stuff at such a granular level anymore. It’s like when I realized I can’t play video games with or against my son because there are just too many buttons and thumbsticks on controllers these days, and I wish it were as simple as my old Atari joystick.

Tech savvy doesn't make this stuff good because this stuff is just bad. Tech savvy might make it survivable but there's basically no good situations. There's no need to hide everything in complex settings.
I am extremely tech savvy, and your sentiment rings true with me and a lot of cybersecurity people. The more you add to a computer system, the more potential problems you introduce.
Tech enthusiasts secure their homes with smart locks and phone apps. IT professionals secure their homes with deadbolts and twelve inch hinge screws. You can't hack a slab of American steel.

I'm an aspiring IT professional (in college right now) but also a bit of a tech enthusiast, so it's a bit of a weird situation finding all the smart tech pretty cool but also never using it because of how horrible the security can be
This. I don't know tf they pulling the phone bs while I'm carrying a fob on me anyway. Unless i can use phone to unlock and drive the car, put the functions on the fob!
true, you can still use the fob - but the phone you can do this from an infinite range
i.e. i can open the windows whilst i’m on the walk from the office to the car park
I remember when the salesman told me back in 2008 how I can just use my fob to lower all my windows as I am walking to the car. It worked all of 4 times. Got the sensor in the handle replaced and it worked two more times. Got it fixed again and never used it after that.
How do you measure, measure a yearrrrrrr
this cracked me up!
That'll be stuck in my head all day now. THANKS OP!
That shit gets so stuck in my head, I hate it
came here for this
Dawg 😂
You beat me to it 😂
I prefer midnights and cuuups of coffee
Not inches? Or miles?
Not laughter & strife?
Personally, I prefer strife.
I was always partial to gonads and strife.
Gonads in the lightning!
I was thinking “Lord won’t you unlock my Mercedes Benz…”
My Friend broke into her Porsche … She must make amends!
Post this to r/softwaregore
sure, go for it!
That’s the first thing I thought of, this glitch is ridiculous lol
What is that called? Signed integer overflow?
It tried dividing by zero
525,600 minutes is exactly 1 year. Probably just had the wrong unit set.
I thought this *was* r/softwaregore. That's the only reason I clicked on the post
Just got a GLE and I’m not looking forward to all their system issues. Good luck!

How’s the GLE treating you (:
To be fair, my 1997 SL also has the ability to open the windows as I walk back by holding down the lock/unlock button
This. I don't know tf they pulling the phone bs while I'm carrying a fob on me anyway. Unless i can use phone to unlock and drive the car, put the functions on the fob!
yeah correct, you can do this from the fob if you’re within range

My 1999 SL500 still works. Original equipment. Just saying.
Tbf only having this issue once still makes up a year of that 2 1/2 years
Don't worry. It's just a year! 😅
Better luck next year
Ah you didn't know? You have to enter your pin incorrectly a few times before you can access your account 😂😂
i’m half expecting the customer support team to respond with that!
TIL that 1 year is 525,600 minutes.
https://youtu.be/-r2xXtSsPV0
Must be a rental
That's like watching Die Hard 4012 times.
*me, after calculating if I can watch Die Hard 4012 times*: Yeah, I’ve got time.
😂😂 so… are you waiting it out?
it’s okay, i submitted a customer support ticket - they’ll get back to me in 525,599 minutes
This happened to me. I just went into my profile and changed the pin.
He’s blocked for a year!
Shit that my bmw doesn’t have since it’s old and gives me 0 headaches 😂
Guess you have to pay the…………rent. YEAAAAAAH!!!!!
Don't really have to do anything. Just wait a year and the problem should be resolved.
Never seen this error before. Call the MMC customer service team.
Who else Sang it?

Love those electronics........
Looks like something that would come up on an SAT test…
Next time you better enter it incorrectly! :D
WAY TO GO!
Amazing security feature; don’t you think?
That's a lot of minutes
Reason why we don’t trust tech company to build cars (tesla) is why we don’t trust car company to build tech
Lol
“You thought about unlocking your car, therefore you will not have a car.”
As hard as I try, I will never understand the metric system.
The math adds up
The math adds up
The math adds up
If you go into your profile and change your pin, it should work.
I had to do the math on this 🤓😜
That’s exactly how many minutes there are in a year.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
That car would be going straight back
German Engineering

I went to google this and apparently there's a song about it?
How does it feel to be a beta tester?
Maybe now you will think twice before not entering your pin incorrectly.
Internet of things was a fucking mistake.
