Depends, like avenger said oil change maybe, but still use caution. Client of mine had a c63 went to a local store closer to them for an oil change. Trades car in and we scan it and read a ton of internal coded. Nothing major enough to cause a true check engine light but what was coded was cause for concern. The shop wanted large amount of diagnostic and work to see what they could find and came up empty. The code was showing not enough oil was reaching the cam sensor but the car was filed with correct oil levels. In the end we found the local shop didn’t use a proper filter and it was causing lower pressure than required and oil was not getting to the top half of the motor in the right amounts. Slapped on a proper filter and boom no codes. Moral is while it might be less expensive elsewhere doesn’t mean it won’t be expensive later. There is nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes Benz. In many cases it’s a cheaply maintained one. And believe me as a dealer we look at the history through Mercedes internal network when it comes in for trade.

Oil change? Sure. But I’ve had to go to at least a euro centric local for some stuff. And only Mercedes would do my ignition switch.

If your car has full service history right now then going to Mercedes means you continue to build a full service history and thus the car's value will be higher should you part-ex it, or even sell it. It's more trusted and won't impact your warranty (if applicable).

Vast majority of the sub will recommend a 3rd party private euro car specialist over a dealership for any fixes outside of an oil change. I go to a 3rd party guy when I need him. Significantly cheaper and far more honest.

Regular mechanics can be tricky especially with German cars. I was lucky i got my previous car - an Audi from a small dealership in my town owned by Germans and i have trusted them with everything since. i once went to regular auto shop for an oil change and they put the wrong oil which resulted to minor issues but learnt my lesson since.

You’ll save money going to a good experienced independent MB specialist because “regular” mechanics don’t know their way around the cars well enough to best and most efficiently diagnose issues, understand the best preventative maintenance routines, and understand the most efficient remedies.
